Just today, Governor Ugwuanyi of Enugu state started the handover of about 360 Innoson vehicles to the police, NSCDC and the Nigerian military. Besides boosting the state's security architecture by this gesture, the governor has also shown support for the local manufacturing industry.

With a successful implementation of the planned infrastructural uplift of the state, and sustenance of his unrivalled payment of salaries due to civil servants, the governor could rise to be the best governor the southeast has ever seen.

Time will tell.

The people have every right to hold their government accountable. This is a basic tenet of democracy, and we shouldn't have it otherwise. Asking questions of the government keeps them on their toes and inspires urgency and creativity towards the delivery of the dividends of democracy. Governor Ifeanyichukwu Ugwuanyi is one who welcomes constructive criticisms, having publicly handed out invitations of such in numerous speeches. Unfairly, the criticisms he often gets are a far cry from constructive. Instances abound on this thread.

Governor Ugwuanyi isn't perfect, just like no leader is. However, we can all agree on certain appraisals of his administration. Despite the harsh economic realities of 2015-2018, Ugwuanyi never let the Enugu workers line up the streets, begging for bread. He never defaults on salary payment. We all know the situation in many states of the federation, in this regard.

In the area of capital projects, Governor Ugwuanyi has completed kilometers of roads and several other infrastructural development projects in the state. The Milliken hill road is a strategic testament to this. Not long ago, communities in Enugu received funds from the governor for capital projects of their choosing. We should all take this up with our traditional rulers for transparency sake.

Governor Ugwuanyi is also a massive job creator. Thousands of Enugu youths are currently being paid the new minimum wage to keep Enugu clean and safe for human endeavours to thrive.

Like I said, Governor Ugwuanyi isn't perfect, but he has continued to demonstrate a genuine love for Ndi Enugu through his agenda and policies. He will make more developmental strides, we believe. In this second tenure, he will further cement his name in the marble of great men.

Let posterity judge him harshly if he doesn't fulfil his promises to Enugu people. And while we hold him accountable, may we give him our full support, so as to keep the wheel of progress continually spinning.
