Good Morning my great people.

I am new to the thread and have read a couple of the challenges and steps for the Express entry application.
Based on my work experience and other criteria I was found eligible for the express entry. Unfortunately, after creating a CIC profile I received an update declaring me ineligible.

I have waited 24 hours and my scores have not even been computed, anyone with a similar experience?

Sorry to hear this.

Could you kindly furnish us with a few more details such your education(whether evaluated or not), work experience, IELTS scores etc.

Otherwise, it would be difficult to tell where the problem is coming from.

Good evening.

30th draw on March 23rd. CRS Cut off 470 with 1014 ITAs.

Looks like it won't go much lower than this, as it seems that CIC has reduced the number of ITAs issued per round.

I think it would come down eventually. If you check the 2015 rounds of invitations, you would notice that there were a few outliers like this one.

But the general score hovered between 450 something and 460 something.

I am saying this based on the firm assumption (which I believe to be true), that the trend would continue.

Good evening!

Hello JesusdWay, I just got an email from WES saying my evaluation has been completed. Meanwhile, I only asked my uni in the UK to send my transcript. I haven't sent my certificate yet. My question is do I still need to send my certificate to WES?

I guess WES had sufficient information to make their decision so you won't have to send it.

The experts can comment as well.

Cheers!

Thanks, guys.

Here it is...

Yipeeeee! And bravo

Happy for you bruv. We could use this as a case study of some kind if you could give us more information. We could refer prospective test takers here.

Kindly let us know the materials you used, the number of hours of study, the study strategy etc. If for nothing, it could serve as both a guide and inspiration for others!

Cheers!

Posted to US just imagine.I have heard of a case where someone's transcript was sealed and mailed to UK School instead of the appropriate address. This guy thought it was as a result of snail mail delivery until he travelled down to the school then found the silly mistake done by the person in charge at exams and records dept by then it has taken months so she better do the needful and save herself further agony.

Lol, U bet!

Woman, you need to go sort things out yourself at your former school.Sometimes, the verification documents may have arrived with nobody to attend to it therefore it is your duty to go and hasten up things if not in the next 5 months the status of your WES account will continue to indicate awaiting verification from institution.

I cannot agree more.

Mine was actually posted to the US. I had to visit the school and let the administrator post the docs to Canada. She just assumed the address to be the United States. So, as suggested by Hartson, please go to the school and get this issue sorted ASAP.

Cheers!

The visa you got is called Permanent Residence Visa, note the word permanent. You can buy a one-way ticket, my brother. Even students who are expected to leave Canada after completing their studies do buy one-way tickets and they are allowed in. One thing I noted over time is that one-way tickets are comparatively more expensive than return tickets and tickets for departures on Wednesdays are cheaper. wink

@humanshado, thanks much!

Good afternoon House,

This question has settled on my mind for some time now and I wanna ask it even though it might sound stupid.

Do you buy a one-way ticket or return when you are finally emigrating to Canny.

I intend to buy a one-way for wyfee and buy a return for myself coz I will have to come back to Naija and get a few things sorted before I move permanently. The one-way ticket for wyfee would not cause any problems at immigration ryt?

Cheers!

The express entry program of Canada was modelled after Australia's skill select program. Canada is still on a learning curve.

Please hartson, I am considering New Zealand too, How is the processing like and where does one even begin.

@hartson,

I think you can look at Aussie which gives you automatic PR status in New Zealand too once you become a PR in Australia. But the reverse is not the case. And I think that if you qualify for NZ, then you most probably would qualify for Aussie(I stand corrected though).

For Aussie, check the Skilled Occupation List (SOL) @
https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Work/Work/Skills-assessment-and-assessing-authorities/skilled-occupations-lists/SOL

That would be for Independent Skilled Migration.

If your occupation is not on that list, then could check the various states for their respective lists and purse sponsorship from one of them.

Victoria is a brilliant location. And I think they are pretty straightforward.

http://www.liveinvictoria.vic.gov.au/visas-and-immigrating/occupation-lists/state-nomination-occupation-list-for-victoria#.VuHSW_mLSM8

I honestly think that the Aussie migration process is much more straightforward and better streamlined than that of Canada.

Please read the article below. (DIGITAL TALENT - Road to 2020 and Beyond)

http://www.ictc-ctic.ca/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/ICTC_DigitalTalent2020_ENGLISH_FINAL_March2016.pdf

On page 44 (Promising practice — Expediting the migration process for in-demand occupations in
Australia), you will notice that "the labour force participation rate for primary skilled migrants was 95.6% compared with the national average 64.8%." And that goes to buttress the point that immigrants do "much better" in the labour market in Aussie as compared to Canada. I say this bearing in mind that a lot of varied metrics come together and that it could be a wild generalisation. But the statistics are Aussies favour anyway!

My point is that Aussie is a very good alternative if not better depending on "where you stand" of course.

Cheers!

My 2cents.
My advice is that you shouldn't have high expectations. It takes sometime to settle in Canada. If you are a Christian, pray to your God well that Canada should favour you, Muslims should pray likewise too.

When you arrive, try as much as possible to upgrade your licence to Canadian standard if you are in a regulated profession. If you are in a non-regulated profession, you may eventually need to get some sort of professional qualification or attend Canadian colleges/uni for a course related to your discipline. The employers here love Canadian qualifications, and work experience.

Pls make sure you have the sufficient funds required for settling as Stated by CIC. Changing licences to canadian standards, going back to school, rent, furniture's, clothes e.t.c cost a lot of money here when compared to other developed countries.

Also network as much as possible with professionals in your field. Alot of jobs are secured through networking.

Danke

Canada has a small economy compared to other developed countries, so they need to find a way of generating money apart from their resource based economy.

It could be a reason why its difficult to get jobs in Canada, the employers and regulatory bodies put a lot of blocks to make it hard immigrant to penetrate the job market easily. (yes, man know man is very common in Canada-most jobs are not advertised). Hence a lot immigrant return back to their country once they get the passport or cross over to the US. Canada's population always revolve around 33-25million cos people are always coming and leaving. The GDP of California alone is bigger than that of Canada.

People shouldn't expect to get rich in Canada except you are a doctor, pharmacist, physio, Nurse (if Overtime hours are available), highly experienced IT, or highly experienced engineers, technologists and technicians in the oil field.

Overall, it's a excellent country to raise kids, and live a comfortable life.

Most ppl share this opinion. I do not know why that is the case. I personally know a couple of people who "crossed" to the states after "acquiring" the Canadian Passport. And as indicated, some choose to just return home.

I am sure it resonates with ppl on this platform as well. How many years have you lived/or lived in Canada. As prospective migrants, do you have any advice for some of us to help scale this?

Cheers!

Good day all, please I have an issue that I don't know how to go about it; I have a dependant that's not my biological daughter, she's my niece, the mother who was my only sister is late and she was a single mum before she passed. Now my question is how do I include her in my application? she's 12, I'm the one responsible for her and I have three boys of my own.
I'm eyeing Manitoba and it looks like they have stringent rule about dependant being applicants children. please anyone with knowledge or ideas of how To go about this will be highly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm thinking adoption but the experts could also weigh in on this.

Amen, thanks

@ JesusDWay & All,

Is that to say that if you have about eight years working experience, including three years in once current employment, you could just present the three years experience of your current job and not list the previous work experience since just three years will do?

Thanks.

Chima.

Congrats Mate!

Hi guys,

I received my PPR today. I've been ecstatic. Hahahah honestly grateful to you, @zandora and @jesusdway. This platform has been a very useful resource.

Thank you so much. My EE journey has been quite nerve wracking.

I'm going to use DHL as advised to send my passport. But seeing as I'm currently in the US I'm guessing I'll have to send my passport to a visa application office here in the States. The letter doesn't state where to address the DHL though...

Any pointers?

In any case, I wish everybody on this journey the best of luck.

I pray it works out well for everyone.

Just to add to what Zandora posted on pof; your current bank statement + debit card of the account, in addition to little cash would just suffice. You don't have to land with all the cash on you. I landed with $1000 grin because of the current dollar trouble; and I backed up with it up with my latest account statement.

Irodome & Zandora,

Thanks for sharing. This is really good to know. I plan to do same. Land with some few dollars and show them my Naija bank statement.

I am really happy to know this would suffice. Have a good week ahead to you all.

Yes, there's a 90-day wait but that's for some provinces. You've got a few options, though:

- Land in another province such as Alberta whereby the health insurance starts immediately then quickly register so that your wife receives coverage, then move to your intended province later. However note that when you move to another province you'll have to register again with that province and wait for the coverage to start according to their stipulated waiting times.

- Land in the province that requires a 3 month wait period and take out a temporary private insurance policy that'll cover her for 90 days, however, beware that most private insurance policies don't cover pregnant women.

- Land in your intended province then pay for her care out of your pocket, this is the most expensive option.

- Let your wife give birth in Nigeria before you land. The problem with this option though is that you'll have to inform CIC to add your baby to your application and this might take a lot of time to process.

Find below a list of provinces and their provincial health care wait times:

Alberta: Immediate coverage after arrival
Ontario: Coverage after 90 days
British Columbia: Coverage after 90 days
Manitoba: Coverage begins on the first day of the third month after your arrival. For example, if you arrive on August 29, August will count as the first month, with September and October as the following two. Therefore, in this case, your coverage would begin November 1.
Quebec: Coverage after 90 days
New Brunswick: Coverage after 90 days
Nova Scotia: Immediate coverage after arrival
Saskatchewan: Immediate coverage after arrival

Zandora,

Thank you very much.

My intended Province was Ontario. But I will I will land in Alberta, preferably Calgary if it will not be a problem.

Thank you once again.

Hello house,

Wifee and I will be emigrating in August this year. She is pregnant and will be putting to bed at the end of September.
I wish we could go earlier but it is not feasible.

I understand there is a 90 day wait period before the issuance of the health cards. What can I do? I need help.

Thank u.
