Because they(Ebonyians) were being suppressed in their former state! Is there any part of Anambra that is being suppressed? Former governor Mbadinuju is from Ihilla. Ihilla has a branch of ANSU. Ihilla has good roads apart from the Onitsha expressway. I keep saying it, Peter Obi made every part of Anambra to feel great and belonged by making sure that every community has a taste of government presence via road network, health centers etc. No part of Anambra is shortchanged. That is my point!

You seems not to understand the point. There is practically nothing to gain for creating or being part the state that is divided to make for a new state. Its not a cake-walk rather it comes with a lot of disadvantages. We Anambrans do not want to loose those things that makes us thick by the so called state creation.

Mind you, the state governor has a lot of influence in state creation. If it does not receive governor's tacit approval, he will frustrate the entire process. In the case of Njaba, it does not enjoy the support of Anambra but in the case of Adada, it enjoys the support of Enugu and Ebonyi.

Besides all these grammar, Anambra as a people does not want any part of them to be carved out. These are the things that made thick and great ahead and light of the Nation.

pazienza:

No state in Nigeria presently is viable, except Lagos. None of the states can survive on it's IGR, not even Anambra, we all depend on petrodollars from the FG to survive, so spare me the talk about economic viability.

I would divide Anambra into 1million states,if i have the powers, and the FG agrees. Nigeria is not a nation, we are all in for what we hope to extract from her, and as an Igbo man, i recognize the power having more states confers to an Igbo nation in getting as much as possible from Nigeria before she collapses, if you are too blind to see that, then i have nothing to discuss with you.

I am only replying you because you are from Anambra! Lemme tell you there is no benefit being part of a state that creates new state. Its not a cake-walk. You do not win world cup for creating a state. Leave Anambra out of it. Every part of Anambra is comfortable.

Adada and Anioma are the only viable states to be created.

You think NL is not reflection of reality? You will be shocked to the marrow when the chips are down. I am only laughing at you because you are ignorant of the wide gulf existing between we and you people! cheesy

We are not standing between you people have another state but do not put any part of us in your equation. At least the sample you have seen on this thread has shown you that Anambrans are not interested and will petition any attempt to remove them where they belong in Anambra because you cannot force anybody into any agreement.

berem: unfortunately and sadly, you are not part of those who will decide if Ihiala will join Njaba/Arim State so your opinion is very inconsequential and useless. Your rants and chest beating of you and your fellow supremacists ends on nairaland and that's it!

I support the creation of Adada! Its the only viable state that should be created!

passion007:

You have no idea where Adada is!
Adada's soft green hills are a beckoning tourist attraction. Have you been to the Opi Lake complex, a mystical confluence of not one, but four lakes that has continued to defy geological science smiley!
Have you been to the Ogurugu Lake?
Opi cave?
The ancient earthworks of Lejja?

Obollo Afor was the capital of the palm oil trade, back when palm oil was all that mattered in the SE
Enugu Ezike is the largest indigenous community in all of black Africa
Nsukka's clement weather and naturalness compelled Zik of Africa to settle there.
Adada has hosted Princess Alexandria of Kent

More important than all else, Adada has all the necessary government institutions needed to take off as a new state: a worthy capital, several higher institutions of learning, several schools of technical education, and shares borders with Benue, Kogi, Ebonyi, Anambra and Enugu, rich in exotic agricultural products eg the cucumbers you consume are from Eha Amufu, Honey, Rice, palm oil, extant vegetables like ugbogoro, ose Nsukka, fio fio, etc etc
Apart from coal, Adada has crude oil deposits in Uzo Uwani and Isi Uzo and numerous other untapped natural resources

Adada has indigenous manufacturing companies, smooth interconnecting roads.

Lastly, the zone has remained homogenous over the years. It has 7 LGAs, and owns half the landmass of Enugu State (the largest state in the SE), and arguably half the population (considering the Adada voting strength of 48% in Enugu even after a disingenuous governor excised Isi Uzo LGA from Nsukka zone in an attempt to weaken it)
The new state will require much less to take off and require much less time to reach her potentials
Adada State is the unanimous choice of Enugu and Ebonyi states
Adada State was recommended at the South East caucus meeting back in the 6th National Assembly.

#SupportAdadaState, the surest bet!

Literature / Chimamanda Fast Becomes One Of The ‘Most Talked About Writers’ In The US by Chino72: 7:40am On Jul 07, 2014
The interview for the feature in the upcoming summer edition of Ms. magazine titled, “A Nigerian-born Writer is Becoming One of the Most Talked about Writers in the US”, has been conducted by Janell Hobson, an associate professor of Women’s Studies at the University at Albany, State University of New York, on Nigeria’s literary icon Chimamanda Adichie.

Hobson also wrote last year’s Ms. magazine cover on Beyonce who on her new album in December, sampled Chimamanda's TED Talk on feminism on the song "Flawless".

Ms. is an iconic American feminist magazine co-founded in the 1970s by Gloria Steinem, a legendary feminist.

Chimamanda, earlier this year won the US National Books Critic Circle (NBCC) Award for her latest novel, “Americanah”. The NBCC Award is widely considered to be the most prestigious literary award in the US as it is awarded by professional literary critics and reviewers.

She has the distinction of being the first Nigerian (and first African) to win this award, as with the Orange Prize that she won for her second novel, “Half of A Yellow Sun”.

“Americanah” was also named by the New York Times as one of the Top Ten books of the Year and has garnered numerous other awards and recognitions in the US and around the world.

You are an ediot for mentioning my name in your silly post. Who told you that Anambra has anything to did with Imo state? How did you come to that conclusion? Anambra is even more inclined and has genuine connection to Delta-Igbo, Rivers towards Ogbaru/Ndoni (Odili's home town), Enugu towards Ugwuoba, Abia toward Umunze/Isuochi, and Kogi toward Otuocha/Ibaji.

I have consistently made it clear to you that we are not the same people with you guys. Go look for your brothers where they are. It is not by force to be nwanne. We have nothing in common with you people. So there is no way any part of Anambra will join you in your silly state creation.

I repeat we Anambrans are cool and does not want any part of us removed. Our government is taking care of us, that is why government presense is in all areas and not just the urban centers. Every Anambra community is thick and that is what makes us as a state thick. We do not want that God Given Grace to be taken away. Ife eji abu Anambra erika!

Discount us from you calculations as we are not the same people with you people. We are not interested in having anything to do with you guys. We have different culture, marriage, tradition etc Like as I said earlier we have no connections with you people! Learn to live with that you silly unlettered fellow called abagworo!

Abagworo: . The problem with you, Chino and other traditional illiterates is your common ignorance. Chino can never be from Uga. That's impossible! A true Igbo son knows the true culture and origin of Igbos beyond artificial State boundaries. I'm totally against States creation but I implore you both to go back and study Igboland and culture very well before you make some of these nonsense historical comments that puts your fathers to shame. Ihiala and Nnewi South belong to same crop of Igbos that make up parts of Imo and Anambra State. If you didn't know just know it today that towns like Ezinifite, Osumenyi, Umuhuokabi, Orsumoghu, Ihitenansa, Awo-Idemili, Orsuihiteukwa and Isekke are but same homogenous clan in different States. They speak exactly same dialect, look exactly alike and practise exactly same culture. Same way Uga which you claim to be from is to Rochas Ogboko, Akokwa, Amichi etc. At the end of the day Rochas might be from the Etiti State which Uga will also join in the ludicrous 54 States.

What sectional post did I make apart from saying that my Anambra should not be touched? I do not hate anybody but nobody should touch my state Anambra in whatever guise. We are not interested in any form of state creation. Those that are interested should create theirs without bringing us into it. My friend mind your language!

Chiwude: Chino has consistenly ensured that Igbo's are thorn apart with his sectional and divisive posts. Almost all his previous posts are filled with sentimental hate against Igbo's from Imo, Enugu and other states. This disgrace from the north claiming to be Igbo just because he holds the position of media man to Peter Obi has continously used that avenue to insult true Igbos. I REPEAT AGAIN; CHINO AND HIS E-GOATS AREN'T IGBOS. A TRUE NWAFOR DESPITE THE RANCOUR WILL NEVER EVER THROW MUD ON HIS FATHER'S HOUSE.

I've said it time without number that in terms of geopolitics and realpolitik, the only state for the SE is Anioma and adada to a lesser extent.
ndianambra should support the creation of Anioma to unify igboland under ohaneze.
Politics / Re: The Proposed 18 New States And Their Capital by Chino72: 5:45pm On Jul 06, 2014
Adada for instance already has Nsukka and it equally has good population that can make a state. It has already a federal university, agricultural and manpower that beats other new state options. It has the support of Enugu and Ebonyi states but the Njaba and stuff does not enjoy all these!

I understand how bad you want out from your imo state but lets be realistic here.

millionaireman:
You see why you are not worth replying: by what parameter do Adada or Anioma in Southsouth beat ANIM/NJABA as sixth state in the southeast?
Politics / Re: The Proposed 18 New States And Their Capital by Chino72: 5:36pm On Jul 06, 2014
Which complex are you talking about? All parts of Anambra has something that makes them thick, no part of greater. So there is no reason why inferiority should come up. My town is Uga is equally thick in its on way both politically and economically.

My point is that the state creation is pointless. We Anambrans are not interested. It feels great being an Anambran and that is why nobody wants out because as a people our government spreads developments to all parts of the state and not just the urban centers.

Besides Anioma and Adada are the only viable ones!

millionaireman:
@chino 72,
Let me tell you your problem: Chino72 is from Uga, Aguata Lga of Anambra state. Whenever Chino 72 is placed side by side with an Anambrarian from say, O'Sha or Ogidi, Chino72 is immediately imposed with inferiority complex.

So Chino72's only consolation is wearing the flag of Anambra state, or painting himself with Anambra state colours in any assembly, including on NL. Grow up Chino. Shake off inferiority complex.
Uli in Ihiala and Orlu share a lot of common ancestry.

Has Chino72 heard of Orsumoghu in Anambra state? People there are same ancestry wth people in the neighbouring Orsu in Imo state.

Politics / Re: The Proposed 18 New States And Their Capital by Chino72: 2:51pm On Jul 06, 2014
Nobody wants out from Anambra. Ihiala is not even interested, its those people from Imo state that are promoting Njaba stuff that are putting them in their calculations which will eventually fail. Those people can divide their state to create another state, we are not interested.

No part of Anambra is interested in their useless state creation. Anambra needs no addition nor subtraction. It feels great being an Anambran!

VICTORCIZA: Remove Ihiala from your silly njaba state and continue!!!
how can you take a single local government from a state to merge it will multitude of local governments from another state? that's silly because there is going to be marginalization!
Add atleast 4 local governments from anambra in it.
This will ferment alot of troubles if these abnormalities in this njaba state is not corrected! quote me anywhere!!!!

You don't get it! No part of Anambra is interested in being carved out of the present Anambra. That said I feel relieved that my town Uga will not be affected.

We have said it times without number, we Anambrans are not interested in any such state creation, we don't want any part of us to be touched in whatever guise.

The only viable state in the SE is Adada and Anioma!

Bliss4Lyfe:

They cannot call a state comprising of Anambra and Imo after an imo local government of Njaba, the appropriate name will be Anim State recognising that the state is a new entity not an addition to any local government to avoid trouble.

Secondly, wat are the plans for power sharing between the imo and Anambra elements of the state?

Thirdly, the people of Orlu seem keen on this state, i just hope they are not entertaining any fantasy of monopolizing Government or focusing funds from all the local government primarily in Orlu. Orlu will not load things over anybody or operate an empire on the back of anybody.
