By James Eze

Conversations are currently going on between the Government of Anambra State and the Republic of South Africa on the possibilities of opening a Consular Office in Awka, Anambra State to facilitate bilateral relations and strengthen existing economic ties between South Africa and Anambra State.

Speaking during a luncheon at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia on Tuesday, South African High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr Bobby Moroe observed that it had become necessary to bring the country’s consular services closer to where it was needed most since over 800,000 Nigerians who live in South Africa were from the South East of Nigeria.
High Commissioner Moroe also spoke strongly about forging stronger ties between South Africa and Anambra State through an exchange programme that would eventually see 50 South African youths visiting Anambra and 50 Anambra youths visiting South Africa to lend more depth to the understanding of cultural and social ethos between the two entities.

Praising Governor Obiano for assembling a great team to drive his vision of governance, High Commissioner Moroe said, “We are quite impressed with the energy and the verve that we have seen in Anambra State. You have a very fantastic team of young men and women who know exactly what they are doing. They have the drive, they have the vision, they have the technical expertise and they know what you want.”

According to him, South Africa has decided that the time had come to explore the possibilities of taking its relationship with Anambra State further than where it was. Hear him: “We have visited a number of places. The first place we visited was the hotel that belongs to the state. We were quite surprised at the state-of-the-art hotel that we have seen in the Golden Tulip. It looks like a privately owned hotel. You know that South Africa has expertise in hospitality.

Praising Ndi Anambra as hardworking people, Moroe said “We come to Anambra with great humility, recognizing the hard-working nature of the people of Anambra, recognizing the fact that Anambra is not resourceless. It is resourceful. That is why we are here.”

Speaking further, Moroe revealed that he had also visited JOSAN Integrated Rice Farms and Mills in Ufuma, Orumba South Local Government Area of the state. “We visited JOSAN Rice Farm owned by Chief Okeke. During our visit to JOSAN Farms, we emphasized that we can look at small scale farmers and we were impressed with the model that JOSAN has in place.

That’s a very typical example of what we are looking for. You might call them “low hanging fruits.” These are some of the impactful projects that we are looking at; the projects that will benefit the young men and women of Anambra. A 25-year old man who is into farming in the village of Abacha. A young woman who is into IT and and wants to explore technology that will assist the agricultural sector. That is what the focus needs to be,” he explained.

Assuring of the readiness of his country to assist Anambra’s giant strides in Agriculture, High Commissioner Moroe said he would look into the request for intervention in the provision of irrigation facilities as well as modern fish farming techniques and facilities from the Cape Province.
Earlier in a closed door meeting, Governor Obiano had requested for a collaboration and partnership in so many areas including culture and tourism, hospitality and leisure, agriculture, trade and commerce and oil and gas.

Responding to Governor Obiano’s request for a dedicated channel for Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS) Television on Multichoice’s DSTV platform, High Commissioner Moroe assured that very soon, ABS would be on DSTV.

Politics / Let Peace Reign In APC Enugu State – Ayogu Eze by chinwe1960: 8:35pm On Dec 04, 2018
Let peace reign in APC Enugu State – Ayogu Eze

Enugu State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Sen. Ayogu Eze is confident that reconciliation of party members in the State would produce lasting peace.

He spoke on Sunday in Enugu when APC officials and members continued reconciling factions that arose from the primaries.
“I am confident that the reconciliation we are having will bring peace to the party,” Sen. Eze said at the meeting.

He thanked the committee for

the great work it was doing.

Kano State Governor Umar Abdulahi Ganduje, who chairs the APC reconciliation committee in the South East led his members to listen to complaints about the primaries. Contestants in the primaries had the opportunity to air their grievances.

Some of them pleaded with the party hierarchy to refund money aspirants spent in purchase of nomination forms.

Governor Ganduje asked losers, in the primaries, to place the party’s interest in the election above theirs. “Remember also,” he said, “that the party is the binding force that unites all of us”. He stated that the unity of the party was the first step towards electoral victory.

South East Zonal Vice Chairman of APC, Emma Enukwu thanked all the party members and pleaded with those who lost in the primaries to embrace peace.

From the meeting, Sen. Eze and Governor Ganduje attended Father Mbaka’s Adoration Ministry for the church’s annual harvest and bazaar

Politics / Catholic Church Condemns Mbaka Over Comment On 2019 Election by chinwe1960: 8:07pm On Dec 04, 2018
The Catholic Church has lambasted the Spiritual Director of the Adoration Ministry, Enugu, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, over his statements on the 2019 general elections.

In a video that went viral on Monday, Mbaka was seen telling the vice presidential candidate of the PDP, Peter Obi, during the annual harvest and bazaar celebration of the church on Sunday, that neither the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, nor President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress, would win the 2019 presidential election.

Addressing Obi in Igbo, Mbaka said, “(Former) governor, listen, so that we won’t be deceiving God. As you are standing in the presence of these children of God, tell God what you will do for Him. It means you don’t want to do anything for God.

“Let me believe in fear, but this is a political statement. God hates stinginess. What I am saying is not for your pleasure. I am saying what will save your life, otherwise, you and Atiku will fail. The way you and Atiku are moving will end in shame.”

Reacting, the Director of Communications, Catholic Diocese of Enugu, Rev. Fr. Benjamin Achi, told The Punch, that the diocese was not in support of the Mbaka’s remarks.

The priest noted that it was wrong for the fiery prophet to make political statements from the pulpit.

Achi said: “The church is supposed to be apolitical and the Bishops’ conference has said that repeatedly.

“We are not supposed to make any political statements from the pulpit within the context of Mass, that is, church service.

“So, it would be wrong to stand at the pulpit to make any political statements.

“There is a document issued by the Bishops’ conference to that effect.

“So, he just spoke on his own, not representing the diocese.

“We are not expected to come out openly to support a particular candidate for any reason. The church law does not accept such a thing.

“So, it would be wrong for anybody (priest) to come out and give an endorsement to a particular candidate.”

See the post below

Peter Obi Exposes Fr. Mbaka, Accuse Him of Extortion To The Tune of Five Hundred Million (500,000,000) Naira.
The fight between the former Governor of Anambra state and revered clergy, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka of Enugu state has taken another turn as chief Peter Obi
yesterday accused Fr. Mbaka of extortion and Hypocrisy. He made the statement at Abuja during an emergency meeting of Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) National Executives. In the meeting, Peter Obi openly accused Rev. Mbaka of duping him and many other people of their hard earned money especially politicians and the wealthy in the society.
Obi confessed that he never liked Fr. Mbaka because he is a cheat, a serial liar and dupe but went to the adoration ground just because he was coerced by his wife and some friends to attend their yearly Harvest and Bazar Thanksgiving .
According to our reliable source, Peter Obi confirmed that Rev. Mbaka duped him and Anambra state of Five Hundred Million (500,000,000) Naira. According to Peter Obi, he approved the loan on partnership agreement with Rev. Mbaka in his business. Peter Obi alleged that Rev. Mbaka collected the approved loan from the ministry of Trade and Commerce in Anambra State and has not paid back until today. The loan according to Obi for partnership is for expansion of Rev. Mbaka’s business interests in Enugu State. He lamented that all his efforts to recover the money from Rev. Mbaka proved abortive as the Rev. Father told him that the money is his contribution to his ministry.
Our source further confirmed that Peter Obi was very bitter with the manner Rev. Mbaka insulted him and Atiku Abubakar at the Adoration ground last week and vowed to teach Rev. Mbaka the lessons of his life.
Recall that Peter Obi went to the Adoration ground in Enugu State last week for the church’s Harvest and Bazar Thanksgiving to campaign , unfortunately, he was dissected irredeemably by Mbaka because of his stinginess. Mbaka told him bluntly that their campaign has failed. He told Peter Obi to stop running from one church to another in his selfish bid to win the presidency. According to Mbaka, Peter Obi will not even know how the election went after which he and Atiku will fail woefully.
The last has not been heard of the saga between Peter Obi and Rev. Mbaka as Obi has vowed to expose Mbaka the more.
Efforts to get Rev. Mbaka on the phone to hear his own side of the story and also clear his name was unsuccessful as the renowned Rev. Father did not accept or return our numerous calls. Stay tuned for more informations on PeterObiFrMbaka

Politics / I Will No Longer Complain About The Problems I Inherited - Buhari by chinwe1960: 12:07pm On Dec 04, 2018
President Muhammadu Buhari says he has resolved to stop complaining about the problems his administration inherited when it came into office.

Buhari said he “asked for it” by relentlessly vying for office four times before emerging president in 2015.

He made the comments while speaking with a cross-section of Nigerians in Poland on the sidelines of the global summit on Climate Change.

The president said: “We inherited so many problems. Actually, I have said I will not complain because I asked for it. I tried to become President three times and I lost, but I was lucky the fourth time, I became one, so I can’t complain”

“Who asked me to do it again? Three times I ended up in the Supreme Court. The third time, I said, ‘God dey’ and the fourth time, God and technology, using the permanent voter card and the card readers, they couldn’t rig the elections; so I won.”

Speaking on the security situation in the country, Buhari said significant progress has been made in the war against insurgency.

He said Boko Haram insurgents have been able to launch attacks in recent months because “they know the area more than the soldiers”.

Buhari said: “Those in the north-east will tell you that before we came, the so-called Boko Haram used to hold about 17 local governments. Now, physically, they are not holding any local government. So they have resorted to real guerilla tactics of hit and run.

“They mobilise, hit targets and then disappear again because they know the area more than the soldiers that are defending them. Our soldiers are from Port Harcourt, Lagos, Sokoto, but they are locally there and know the terrain more than the soldiers.”

Politics / Is Fr Mbaka Now God ? By Cheta Igbokwe by chinwe1960: 11:34am On Dec 03, 2018
The first video I saw this morning around 4am was the battle between Peter Obi and Fr. Mbaka, on the altar during a church harvest, and my opinion about Peter Obi has never remained the same.
You can’t push Peter Obi around. You can’t put words into his mouth. The fact that he stood his ground has earned him so much respect. His ability to merge it all with politeness, crowning the whole fire with smiles, makes him genius.
You can only get the true image of someone when he is under pressure. Oh God, the pressure was so much. Anyone who has seen that video will know what I am talking about. There is no greater pressure than threatening a man with failure.
I forced myself to finish that video. I couldn’t but close my eyes, watching Mbaka speak. Fr. Mbaka now talks like he is a God. Is Mbaka blind to all the things happening in Nigeria? Why did he dismiss Obi’s assertion that there is hunger in the country by merely saying that there has always been hunger? Is Mbaka reaping from our tears?
Sometimes I don’t blame the Archbishop of Owerri when he looks into matters of priests who host adorations and checkmate their excesses. Even though most times those with geniune intensions are affected. The Catholic church in Nigeria is learning from the Enugu mistake, which has now gone beyond control.
Now I understand what Archbishop Obinna of Owerri meant when he said, “Some people are no longer doing adorations, they are doing adoro-ego.”
Right now, I think everything good I have heard about Peter Obi is true.

Fasehun’s death, great loss to Yoruba race – Adams

The Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Chief (Dr) Gani Adams, has described the death of Dr Fredrick Fasehun as a great loss to the Yoruba race.

Adams also said the death was a great loss to Nigeria and the world at large, pointing out that Faseun left behind a worthy legacy.

Fasehun died in Lagos in the early hours of Saturday. He was 83 years old.

Adams in a condolence letter copied to commiserate with the family of the founding father of Odua Peoples Congress (OPC), pointed out that he received the news of the death with shock and disbelief.

It was with shock that I received the sad news of the passing of our Papa and founding father of OPC which occurred today, December 1, 2018.

“This, no doubt, is a moment of great grief for the entire family of OPC, Yoruba nation, Nigeria and the world at large.

“But it is also clear that the deep sense of loss over the demise of our beloved leader is shared by many like me.

“I hasten, therefore, to address this statement to commiserate with the immediate family over this painful bereavement,” Adams said.

The Aare Ona Kakanfo added that, the deceased in his life time made outstanding contributions to the progress of the nation in many capacities, and no doubt left behind a worthy legacy through his careers as a renowned medical doctors and politician among other achievements.

He emphasized that the late Fasehun was one of the good doctors trained in China as an acupuncturist.

“A former presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 90s, I see him as a father, and I passed through him for a period of five years.

“Baba deserves all respect because he acquitted himself so diligently, and will also be remembered as a distinguished leader in all ramifications, and one that was greatly admired by the general public and his peers as a straight forward and complete gentleman,” he said.

Adams pointed that the deceased deserved all the tributes having had the privilege of close association with him as a leader, father and confidant for many years, adding that he can affirm his democrat lifestyle nature.

“He demonstrated wisdom, honesty and good leadership, established friendship, harmony and accommodation across board. He was as a community leader and a prominent patriot, which was no doubt a testimony to be reference to.

“Baba exhibited very good leadership qualities, wisdom and wealth of experience which indeed he put to use in the discharge of his responsibility, as well as upholding the institution’s tradition of excellence, while alive,” said Adams.

According to him, Fasehun will also be remembered for his invaluable contributions to building a better society.

“I extend on behalf of my family, the Odua Peoples Congress (OPC) our sincere condolences on the transition of our beloved leader and father and pray that the Almighty God grant the bereaved family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

“Until his death, Fasehun was the Founding father and Spiritual Leader of the Oodua People’s Congress.

“This was based on the peace resolutions perfected by the former Governor of Ogun, Otunba Gbenga Daniel on March 7th, 2005, which led to my emergence as the National Coordinator of the OPC,” Adams added.

Politics / PDP appoint 29yrs old chima Obieze into National Campaign Council . by chinwe1960: 6:10am On Dec 01, 2018
The announcement of the members of the campaign Council of the leading opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for next years’ general election has been receiving great encomium amongst the youth community following the appointment of a renowned Youth Leader an astute Mobilizer and a great Motivator, Hon. Chima Obieze, as member of the PDP National Campaign Council.

His appointment has further demonstrated the firm believe Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the PDP has in the Youths and his love for them.

Hon. Chima Obieze can best be described as a product of grace. He started what could be described as his political career as a young Church Leader at St Michaels’s Parish Asata Enugu and rose to become the Enugu Diocessan publicity Secretary to the Catholic Laity Council.

As an undergraduate at Enugu State University of Science and Technology, ESUT, Hon Obieze demonstrated his leadership skills as a Class Governor from where he rose to occupy various positions;
The President, Society of International Law students
The Minister for environment, Students Union Government ESUT
The National Secretary, Law Students Association of Nigeria
The Students Union President, ESUT
The Chairman, Southeast Students Union Presidents Forum,
The Convention Chairman of National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS Convention for two consecutive times and many more.
To further demonstrate his ability as a great mobilizer and youth influencer, Hon Obieze occupied various tasking positions in various youth organizations;
The State Coordinator of The Enugu West Youth General Assembly Assembly

The Enugu State Youth Ambassador at the National Youth Assembly of Nigeria
The Leader, Southeast Youth frontiers frontiers
The convener, Southern Nigeria Youth Conference,
An award Winning member of the West African Young Lawyers Forum
The founder and National Director of Change NIGERIA Youth Initiative.

In the South East where he hails from, his actions were very pronounced as a Youth mobilizer for the re-election of the former President Goodluck Jonathan during 2015 general election.

He is also the Enugu State Coordinator, Nigerian Young Professionals Forum and a founding member of the group NN19(New Nigeria 2019).

Earlier this year, he was nominated and appointed a grand Patron/Adviser of The Nigerian Students Association NANs and also Decorated by the OHANEZE Ndigbo Youth wing as “Nwa Ana Amulu OHA of Igboland” (a child born for the people).

Hon. Chima Obieze have also served as Special Assistant on Youth & Students matters to the former Governor of Abia State Chief Dr. Orji UZOR Kalu and a Senior Legislative Assistant to the Deputy Senate President Sen. Ike Ekweremmadu.

Hon. Obieze is currently, an Honorable Member of the Enugu State House of Assembly representing Ezeagu constituency and The Chairman, House Committee on Works, Lands, Housing & Urban Development.

Knowing that Hon Obieze got to this enviable height before attaining the age of 35 explains why the Youth Community in Nigeria is elated with the announcement of Hon.Chima Obieze as a member (and probably the youngest) of the National Campaign Council 2019 even as they call for the continued inclusion of Young people in the electioneering/Campaign processes.

With his wealth of experience, its not under any form of contention that his appointment into the council depicts having a square peg in a square hole by the PDP.

Politics / 2019 Election: lai Muhammed Cautions Media Houses Over Fake News ,hate Speech by chinwe1960: 9:58pm On Nov 30, 2018
Nigerians and the Media have been called upon to desist from spreading fake news and hate speech and avoid reports that could be termed defamatory to an individual or the country.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, made the call at the annual lecture, themed “Fake News, Hate Speech and the 2019 General Election: The Role of the Nigerian Media’’, hosted by the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Abuja.

“Fake news, hate speech is a global phenomenon; it’s not just a Nigerian phenomenon.

However, it becomes more important to tackle fake news and hate speech in Nigeria because of the natural fault-lines.

Nigeria is a multi-ethic, multi-religious and multi-cultural nation and it is very easy to explore these fault-lines to breach it and spread fake information,’’ he said.

Mohammed said the biggest victim of fake news and hate speech was the media itself “because the moment people don’t believe what the media is saying, that would be the end of the media’’.

He also urged the media to champion and collaborate with government in the campaign against fake news and hate speech.

According to him, as the 2019 election approaches, fake news and hate speech will become rampant.

He therefore appealed to “the sense of responsibility of the media to self-regulate otherwise it would self-destruct’’.

The minister said that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration would not enact any law that would curb freedom of the media.

Similarly, he called on Nigerians to avoid sharing false information and advised journalists to adhere to the code and ethics of the profession

Politics / Imo APC Crisis: Buhari Tasks Party Stakeholders To Sheathe Swords by chinwe1960: 6:38pm On Nov 30, 2018
IPresident Muhammadu Buhari has asked the warring parties in the crises rocking the Imo State chapter of the ruling All Progrssives Congress (APC) to bury the hatchet and work for the victory of the party at all levels in the 2019 general elections.

The governor of Kano state and chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, reconciliation team, Abdulahi Umar Ganduje, conveyed the president’s message while meeting with the Senator Hope Uzodinma faction of the party,

This is coming after the reconciliation committee, met with governor Rochas Okorocha and his supporters on Thursday.

Ganduje said that after listening to the members of the two groups that the committee will be interfacing with the leaders of the various groups to hear directly from them.

According to him, “We are here for dialogue. We are here for peace. We are worried. But we are concerned and determined.

“We were with the governor and his people and his talking of Mr President and also it is good that you people are talking of President Buhari. We are here to see that those who are aggrieved are brought back to the party.

“After this meeting, we are going to meet with all the aspirants, of both sides. This is just to meet with members of APC. The main meeting will be with the aspirants in the night.

“There could be some aggrieved members of House of Representatives, Senators and other members. But we are saying that we are pleading to all the members of APC, to close ranks and win the election.

We are here to see you people so that we can discuss heart to heart and put the pieces together. All hope is not lost. Election is coming and you have to unite and make adequate arrangements for the election. Because the President is worried. He directed us to come for reconciliation. He wants all of you to be united.

“I am happy that all of you are for Buhari. You look determined. You must do alot of planning. You must sit down locally and win the election.”

Ekiti state, Kayode Fayemi, who joined the committee on Friday said: “You have heard from the chairman and Senator Akpabio, my own is going to be an addendum. You are not going to have an isolated election.

“This is going to be a general election unlike the Ekiti state, so Imo people will face their election. Nobody is coming to help you. I had 32 contestants against me. None of them left the party.

“I want to advice us that the task ahead is a collective effort. We must do everything constitutional and legal to retain Imo state.

“I have not come across in the world nobody who is not interested in who succeeds him. What we want is that the process must be transparent. What we don’t want is to hand over the state to the opposition, ” he added.

This deceptive government is simply trying to pull wool over our people’s eyes the same way the governor has been dangling phony appointments to lure weak minded individuals to back his disintegrating government.

No amount of intrigue, cunning, chicanery or sleight of hand will sway our people in their resolve to vote him out.

The time for this late hour gimmick on the electorate is long gone. What tied his hands in four years that he slept his time away all through the period only to rouse from self imposed slumber to inaugurate projects that won’t ever be completed? We advice him to stop frittering away our scarce resources on trying to deceive a people whose mind is made up to show him the way out of the Lion Building by starting projects he knows will never be implemented.

Our people know that he is a manipulative narcissist who like Nero is only interested in promoting his self image and glory in billboards and expensive newspaper photo optics, TV and social media advertorials. Our people have been taken for a ride enough. They’ve decided to end this imperial reign of self glorification and adulation. It’s time to enthrone an accountable government that will work for the people and not seek to bribe every Dick and Harry into silence about his overt and embarrassing incompetence.

Our people want water in their taps which we shall provide within our first year in office; they want employment and new and cleaner cities. Our pensioners are dying of hunger as their entitlements pile over the years unattended to. We urge this government to stop this grandstanding and pay them gratuities and pensions. They labored for our people and deserve their pay in dignity on retirement. We thank them for their rising support for us and their resolve to end a government whose only visible achievements in four years are billboards glorifying an imaginary humility.

We therefore alert the people of Enugu state, disappointed with the sleeping on duty governor, that the emergency roads contract award are not genuine but act of desperation by a drowning regime to manipulate itself out of imminent defeat to further perpetuate mediocrity, docility and ineptitude.

Politics / 2019 Election: EFCC To Monitor Donations To Parties- Statereporters News by chinwe1960: 7:39am On Nov 29, 2018
Donors to political parties were put on notice yesterday that the law will keep an eye on them.

Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Acting Chairman Ibrahim Magu said the agency would monitor donations to political parties during next year’s polls and the identities of the donors.

He warned political office holders against diverting public funds to their campaigns and for elections.

Magu said the $2.2 billion arms scandal under the administration of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan caused a setback for the fight against insurgency.

The EFCC chief was delivering a paper at a one-day retreat for the 36 governors and key election stakeholders in Abuja.
The retreat, with the theme: “Institutionalizing Transparency, Accountability, and anti-corruption issues in the electoral process in Nigeria”, was organised by Centre for Values In Leadership (CVL).

Magu, who spoke through Olanipekun Olukoyede, his Chief of Staff, said parties should know that they will account for campaign funds after the poll.

He said: “We shall keenly monitor the financial affairs of political parties to ensure that the use of public funds to finance political parties and prosecute campaigns at all levels of government is checked. To minimize corruption and the use of public funds to fund political parties and finance elections, there is need for greater effectiveness in enforcing the provisions of the various electoral laws in Nigeria especially as it relates to penalties upon breach of their provisions.

Admitting that the enormous task before the EFCC and cannot do it alone.

On the $2.2 billion arms scandal, Magu said the cash was allegedly diverted to election funding.

He said: “When you consider the fact that the money was disbursed for the purpose of procurement of arms to fight insurgency in the North, then the negative impact of funding elections with stolen government funds becomes real at once”.

”The 13-man Committee, which I was a member of, analysed how funds were transferred to the office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) and the Nigerian Armed Forces in local and foreign currencies and subsequently disbursed.

“The committee observed that about $2.2 billion was disbursed for the procurement of ammunition to tackle insurgency, yet little or nothing was actually spent for the procurement of the arms for which the funds were disbursed.

“ The committee discovered that failed contracts amounting to about $2,378,939,066.27 and¦ 13,729,342,329.87 respectively were awarded by the NSA; who also approved payments in millions of dollars without documentation.”

“Any time money is diverted by an administration to fund a political campaign, it is money already budgeted for an essential need which will never be met because of heartless and corrupt public officials.

“The money being misappropriated is either from health, security, education, road construction, personnel costs etc. The case of arms procurement by the NSA under President Goodluck Jonathan government is apposite.

Politics / Sen Ayogu Eze’s reveal the meaning of APC…. Next level by chinwe1960: 6:55am On Nov 29, 2018
FULL TEXT OF AYOGU EZE’S REMARKS AT THE OPENING OF HIS CAMPAIGN OFFICE BY HIS EXCELLENCY, PROF. YEMI OSINBAJO, ON NOVEMBER 23, 2018.

Since we joined this business, the energy level has changed – Sen. Ayogu Eze, Enugu Gov. aspirant.

APC…. Next level
APC…. Next level

Your Excellency, the delectable, intellectual, highly focused visionary, Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Prof. Osibanjo, SAN, GCON….we can even remember all the accolades because our Vice president is a man of many attainments.
……

I don’t want to fall foul of the regulations of the INEC. The one that has started is your own. So what we’re going to do today is just to open this office and get it ready for the campaigns when they start.

And I want to assure you that we have a message for Mr. President. Tell him that we’re sleeping on the same bed and dreaming the same dream.

His five points agenda in the Next Level, including jobs, security, infrastructural development, economic enhancement in the area of education and, political inclusiveness and so many other things are also part of what we’re dreaming to do here. He doesn’t need to come preaching here because we understand him. We have also listened to you, having been the anchorman of the messages of the President.

We know you want to create five million jobs, we know you want to create several thousand other jobs arising from improving the school feeding system. We know sir that your Anchor Borrowing System your NPOWER and Economic Enhancement Programmes are getting new flips and are being reworked. We’re confidently behind you sir.

We’re going to invite you at the appropriate time to come and host some of those your popular programmes that I have seen you host in other parts of the country for our people because we need to energize our people the more.

Finally sir, the message for Mr. President is, listen to nobody who tells you that they want to give you 25 or 30 percent. The president owns this place whole and entire. Ndi be anyi, o bu eziokwu? …. No be so? Na we go determine who go divide the show, not them. Nobody can give us 25 percent sir. So let nobody go to Abuja to tell you that they are friends of the APC.

These are people who have spent four years deceiving people like him (Jim Nwobodo) that they are coming to the party. They didn’t come. He’s a very heart broken man because some people lied to him that they are going to join the party. Four years down the line, they didn’t join.

A man that is convinced of the same opinion is of the same opinion. They’re of the same opinion still… They’ll not change.
So, enough of this deceits, Sir. So when they come again to Abuja, tell them politics is played in Enugu not at the corridors of power in Abuja.

Your Excellency, they should not see you in your office. They can not come to Abuja and tell you they will give you 90 percent. The Ninety percent is here not in Abuja. We’ll give it to you here.

So, when they come next time, tell them to go home and meet the people on ground. Because since we came to this business, the energy level has changed, Sir. The energy level has changed sir. And the energy level has got a new boost with your arrival. We are now like people who are drunken with political energy. We’re drunk o, with the energy you have brought to us.

You will see the multiplications of the popularity of the fame the activity of APC going forward. And your Excellency, when we invite you to come and flag off our governorship campaign, we’ll unfold our programme. Today is about your programme.

And anybody who tells us that the president doesn’t like us, is talking jazz. Because, number one, the two elections that the president ran before this one, his vice presidential candidates were Igbo people, Chuba Okadigbo and Edwin Umezuoke. That’s history, you can’t change it.

One of the projects that is reflected in the Next Level is the Second Niger Bridge. Its a mammoth development. The president did tell us that we’re laying foundation, foundational work is neither easy nor glamorous. That’s what he told us. It’s not easy. It’s not glamorous. It’s difficult to appreciate. But those foundations are necessary, Sir. If we don’t lay them, we’ll continue to make mistakes.

So we support Mr. President to lay the foundations Sir.
Because you see this house, if the substructure is weak, the superstructure will collapse. So the President has done the substructure. The superstructure is now coming. The Igbos are waiting.

One of the messages you’ll see on our billboards is “Taking the east back to the heart of Nigeria”. And that’s exactly what we’ll do. This is our presence ….we welcome you to Enugu. Don’t listen to tale bearers coming to Abuja. That’s what we beg you. A lot of tale bearers are organizing by themselves. The other day, they came here.

The same set of people. So you see their hypocrisies. They had a meeting and said they have endorsed Atiku. I switched on my television the next day, they were with Mr. President. So, who are they really endorsing, sir? These are fake people. The Igbos have not held any meetting. He (Jim Nwobodo) was not there. He is one of the truest sons of Igbo land. Before the Igbos make a decision, they’ll form a caucus and take a decision. Those people are speaking for thems. They’re not speaking for our people because Igbos are in APC, Igbos are in other political parties.

We cannot be endorsing individual candidates across the cultural zones. That’s a fraud. A big time fraud. What gives out the fraud, the same people who stayed in Nike Lake here to endorse Atiku where in Abuja to converse with Mr. President.

The same people! Are they not ashamed at all? Are they ashamed at all?
Mr. President, please don’t listen to them again. These are fake people.

You are welcome here, thank you .

Politics / How Obasanjo Plans To Rule Nigeria Again,Oshiomhole Reveals -StateReporters News by chinwe1960: 9:44am On Nov 26, 2018
Any attempt by former President Olusegun Obasanjo to return to power by proxy will be resisted, All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole said yesterday.

He dismissed as “empty” the former leader’s boast that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will unseat the APC-led administration from Aso Rock.

Oshiomhole spoke in Kano where he led other APC stalwarts to receive hundreds of members of the PDP and the Kwankwasiyya Movement, who defected into the ruling party at the Sani Abacha Stadium.

”Obasanjo’s dream to rule Nigeria by proxy will not succeed,” Oshiomhole told the crowd of supporters.

He said: “It is a wonderful day that all the progressives have come together to reinforce power to sustain our democracy. Never again should this country be governed by opportunists.

“President Muhammadu Buhari’s constituency is the army of the poor. We are building a country where those who work will be able to eat, not those who use telephones to make billions without working for it.

“We are waiting for the message and shall respond appropriately to their message. This country must move forward. It does not belong to those who have a history of taking so much out of the system even as they cannot show what they have put into the system.

“We have to fix all the problems; we did not come in to fix them overnight. What they did not do in 16 years cannot possibly be fixed in three and half years. But I believe we have shown the most important quality that we need in a leader – to have a man of honour, a man of integrity, a man that you can trust; and that is President Muhammadu Buhari.

“Whether in America, they appreciate him, in Britain, they appreciate him, and other Africa Heads of State appreciate him. And, of course, we the ordinary people appreciate him. But those who make money without work, they don’t like him. As far as they are concerned, he will not stay one day long.”

Oshiomhole replied to criticism by the PDP of the electoral process. He said: “Let me also use this opportunity to appeal to our opponents in PDP that they seem to be crying before the election takes place. When they win, everything is perfect; any time they lose, nothing is right. I see them writing a letter to the United Nations (UN) and I’m asking who is going to carry the letter.

“Nigerians will not forget that it was PDP under President Olusegun Obasanjo who introduced what he called do-or-die politics. They remember when he said the election of 2007 was a do-or-die for him.

“Fortunately, we did not die; fortunately, he is still alive. He would be alive to see a country that grows from strength to strength, that is detained by the bitterness of the past.

“But his (Obasanjo) dream to rule by proxy will never succeed. Nigerians can never go back. We must move on. In another mandate for President Buhari, we will witness sustainable growth, development and happiness for the good of the average Nigerian.”

The party chief praised Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for his steadfastness in sustaining the manifesto of the APC, saying: “Thank you so much, Your Excellency. You have made a statement. Politics is not about social media where one man can recruit 2000 young men to just be posting fake stories.

“Politics is on the ground and it is played by real people. When you promised to deliver five million votes I know you will do so because people of Kano State belongs to President Buhari; and President Muhammadu Buhari belongs to the people of Kano State.

“It will interest you to know that during the primary election, President Buhari had 14.6 million Nigerian APC members voting for him freely to nominate him. Compare this to what my dear friend (Goodluck Jonathan) did in PDP in 2014 when they collected signatories to ask a sitting President to re-contest.

”I think we have changed the game, and the game can never be the same again. Nigeria can now grow from strength to strength. I want to ask you (Ganduje) to have faith. We shall be victorious at the end.”

Presenting the defectors to Oshiomhole, Ganduje said: “Today, APC is the greatest party in Nigeria, and in Africa. APC is the only party in Kano State. We have the highest number of party members; our intention is to provide the highest number of votes for APC in Nigeria.

“If you can recall, we promised President Muhammadu Buhari that we will give him over five million votes. Mr. Chairman, we assure you that APC is united in Kano. Kano is the home of progressives.

“The late Malam Aminu Kano was a progressive, the late Sabo Barkin Zuwo was a progressive, and the late Abubakar Rimi was a progressive. Now, what do you expect in Kano – if not a progressive government, a progressive administration, a progressive voting. That is why we are ready to give President Buhari over five million votes.”

Speaking on behalf of the defectors, two-time governor Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau said: “Today is a moment to reckon with history. On behalf of all my supporters, well-wishers far and near who have joined us to move into APC, it is a great pleasure for us to be part of APC.

“I have this great honour to be one of the mid-wives of APC, history is repeating itself. In 2014, we stepped aside, and today, we are coming back to APC. I want to thank the national chairman and Governor Ganduje who have embraced us today.

“We are happy to be part of APC. It is our sincere prayer that God, in His wisdom, come 2019 will grant APC victory from Presidency, governor, senator, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly. Insha Allah, it is going to be a total success.”

Politics / Jonathan Was Incompetent But I Supported Him – Balarabe by chinwe1960: 11:36am On Nov 25, 2018
A former governor of Kaduna State and chieftain of the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties, Alhaji Balarabe Musa, on Saturday said it was wrong for former President Goodluck Jonathan to claim that the entire North worked against him in 2011 and 2015 general elections.

Although he said he felt Jonathan was not competent to continue to lead the country, he supported the former President in the 2015 presidential election because he did not want President Muhammadu Buhari to win the election.

A former governor of Kano State, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, also said he wished Jonathan well.

The former President, in his new book, “My Transition Hours,” said some Peoples Democratic Party governors worked against him in 2015.

Musa, who recently announced his retirement from active politics because of age and failing health, noted that he supported the former President against the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Buhari, in the election.

The former governor, who emphatically told one of our correspondents on the telephone that he was not speaking for the North, said the Peoples Redemption Party publicly endorsed the former President in Akwa Ibom in 2015.

According to him, his reason for endorsing Jonathan was that Buhari and the APC represented ‘fascism’.

He said, “I don’t represent the North. I can’t comment on this. He (Jonathan) should know who was against him. I was not against him.

“In fact, in 2015, we favoured him. We preferred him to Buhari because we regarded Buhari and his APC as fascists. Even though Jonathan is equally incompetent, we feltthe PDP was safer.”

Kwankwaso, who was in the PDP until he defected to the APC in 2015, and this year rejoined the PDP, spoke through Binta Sipikin, in response to a question by one of our correspondents.

He said, “I don’t think the former President was specifically referring to Senator Kwankwaso. Hence, there is no need for any response. However, the senator wishes former President Goodluck Jonathan well in all his feature endeavours.”

Some northern youths also accused the ex-President of failing to honour his agreement with them.

The National President of the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, a coalition of over 30 youth organisations in the North, Alhaji Yerima Shettima told one of our correspondents why the region worked against former President Jonathan.

Shettima said the insistence of the former President to contest the 2015 presidential election forced the North especially the Northern Elders’ Forum to mobilise against that administration.

He said, “The North was against the former President because he failed to honour a gentleman agreement. Instead of him to either resign or quit the stage for a northerner, he reneged.

“So, the Northern Elders’ Forum under the leadership of the late Yusuf Maitama Sule, felt the battle line was drawn and worked against him

Politics / 2019: We Will Not Allow Evil Forces Attain Any Political Power Again – Buhari by chinwe1960: 3:21pm On Nov 24, 2018
President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday said his administration would not allow “few evil forces” in the country whose agenda is to “attain political power by inciting hate and intolerance among the citizens”.

He equally said his administration met an economy in shambles as a result of widespread “corruption and mismanagement” of the nation’s common-wealth, compounded by a sharp drop in the prices of oil, when he took over in 2015.

Buhari disclosed this while speaking at the graduation ceremony of participants of Senior Executive Course (SEC) 40, 2018 of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), KURU, in Jos South LGA of Plateau State.

The President who was represented by the Minister of Defence, Mansur Muhammad Dan Ali, said, “Let me assure you that we shall not allow few evil forces in our midst whose only agenda to attain political power is by inciting hate and intolerance among the citizens.

“They exploit and manipulate the fault lines in the society to destroy our collective peace, mutual coexistence and social harmony, thinking that they will change the narrative; and the people would not ask them to account for what they looted from the common wealth.

“Permit me to use this opportunity to share with the Nigerian policy elite, our government’s policy thrust on good governance. Good governance involves transparency and prudence in public finance, social justice, investing in the poor and creating employment for the youth

“Permit me to use this opportunity to share with the Nigerian policy elite, our government’s policy thrust on good governance. Good governance involves transparency and prudence in public finance, social justice, investing in the poor and creating employment for the youth.

“When we assumed leadership in 2015, what we met was an economy in shambles as a result of widespread corruption and mismanagement of the national common-wealth, compounded by a sharp drop in the prices of oil.

“Indeed, we inherited an empty treasury, depleted foreign reserves, poor and dilapidated infrastructure, huge capital and current liabilities, food import dependency, long-standing insurgency, myriads of internal security challenges, and a situation whereby many state governments owed their workers’ salaries. To make matters worse, the economy also went into a recession”, he lamented.

According to him, “These inherited circumstances put us under extreme difficulty, particularly when measured against the expectations of Nigerians who voted for us expecting a better governance. We had to develop and implement some policies that would quickly get us out of this unsavoury situation.

“To address the problems fundamentally, we put in place several policy frameworks, the major one being the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP), which laid out the strategy for achieving the government’s vision of sustained and inclusive growth.

“The ERGP provided the framework for short term recovery and structural reforms aimed at diversifying the economy to set it on a path of sustainable growth over the medium and long term.

“We took further measures including the Executive Order on Ease of Doing Business to address identified bottlenecks”, he explained.

“I am sure you will agree that these policy choices we have made are yielding results.

“For instance, the economy came out of recession and has been experiencing growth. We have reduced rice importation by 90% and revived our capacity to produce fertilizer locally.

“Moreover, we have tremendously improved on our ranking in the ease of doing business by the World Bank. Our foreign reserve is now USD 44 billion, the highest in the last five years. The implication of these is that Nigeria remains the strongest economy on the African continent due to the policies put in place by this government.

“On infrastructure, we have made substantial progress despite earning so much less than previous governments.

“In 2015, the power generation capacity was less than 4,600 MW, and in three years, it has now reached 8,000 MW.

“However, we are assiduously working to address the legal and institutional challenges in the transmission and distribution chain so that the system can uptake all the power generated”, he maintained.

Buhari said his administration has put in place several policies to ensure “prudence and transparency in the management of public resources.

“However, as the country prepares for the forthcoming elections in 2019, the President enjoined Nigerians to exercise their civic obligation as stakeholders in the nation’s development project.

“We as a government also wish to reiterate our commitment to ensuring that the elections are free, fair and credible as part of measures to deepen our democracy”, he assured.

Meantime, the 66 participants in the SEC 40 course during their stay in NIPSS were exposed to Understanding Internal Security Framework and Community Policing in Nigeria, Historical and Policy Context of Nigeria’s Internal Security Framework.
