Hello justmellow, What then could the family and economic ties be referring to? JustMellow: |

Poor grades can actually be a reason for refusal, I’ve seen it a few times. It can make it appear that you’re not a genuine student or you won’t be successful when you get to Canada. Your parents job might also have a role, the gcms stated weak economic and family ties. That points to your family not being well established. You can counter that by submitting more documents from your dad’s job, because the gcms said your dad’s job was just listed. You might want to add documents that show that your family is doing well and you are not running away for a better life. Good bank statements, assets, documents showing they’re doing well in their career etc All the best Mideyo234: 1 Like |

Which still brings me back to the point I stated earlier. I’m talking about general average and not course by course evaluation. There is no need for this back and forth. All the best Backcheck: |

It was converted with a standard GPA calculator, and if we are speaking generally, it’s equal to that. A few people I know have used it, and it was accurate, seeing that they got the admission. If you don’t agree, state the equivalent and tell us how you arrived at it. All the best Backcheck: |

Hello Backcheck, If they say you require an Average GPA of so so so. This is how it works! You can use a GPA converter to change it, which is what I did. What you’re talking about is when it’s done course by course. Backcheck: |

Hello, Sorry to hear about your denial. The VO is concerned about your poor grades and it seems your proposed course is not in line with your previous study and work experience. Mideyo234: 1 Like |

Hello Tonygrinds, You can use an in-law. Just show proof of relationship by attaching the marriage certificate, your birth certificate, and that of your sibling that’s married to the in law. All the best Tonygrinds: 1 Like |

Hello aminat2000, 4.03 out of 5.00 GPA is equivalent to 3.22 out of 4.00 GPA. You can use an online gpa calculator to do the conversion. If you can’t find any, I can share the one I used with you, just send me a private message. All the best aminat2000: |

Hello, I just visited the program’s website and all the required information is there. I’m not allowed to post that here. Please visit the website and check the admission requirements. The admission requirement says you need 3 out of 4 GPA in the last two years of study, that’s a 75% Best wishes Curie246: 1 Like |

Acceptance won’t be a problem. There are people who have more than one PhD. The problem would be convincing the visa officer, just as I stated. And yes to the express entry, if age is on her side and with a good IELTS score. oladapo2020: |

Hello, Her age will not affect her chances of getting into a PhD. She won’t have a problem securing another PhD. The problem will be convincing the visa officer why she needs another PhD. If she can do that successfully, she’s good to go. She should choose her course, check for schools that are offering it and apply. She’ll have to find a supervisor who agrees to supervise her work before she can apply. But all the rules will be stated clearly on the program’s website. If she needs any more information, please feel free to ask the house. You didn’t talk of her exact age. If she’s around mid and late 30s you can try express entry. Use the CRS calculator to check what your score is. I think the cut off for the last draw was 471. Best wishes conyema12: |

Hello, Thesis based is usually more competitive. But it has more funding(scholarship) possibilities. And you’ll most likely have to find a supervisor who agrees to supervise your work before you can apply. In a nutshell, course based-courses are easier to get into. Getting into a thesis-based program is possible. We’ve seen several people on here. Nobody can tell you for sure how easy it is, you need to try and see. All the best. 143loombimmy: |

My advice. 1. Order your gcms notes 2. Let your sponsor transfer the 10k cad for living expenses to your account. She should state it in her sponsorship letter and you should also state it in your letter of explanation 3. Submit proof of sale of the property that has the lump sum. Eg deed of sale and sale receipts and explain this in your letter of explanation 4. You didn’t state your age. If you’re older, you should show you’re being involved in your society eg voluntary work or proof of your job or business 5. Also attach source of fund for your sponsor. If employed, payslips and if a business person, attach business registration documents 6. I’ll advice you to attach proof of landed properties if you have. That’s a strong home tie. You can start working on gathering all these documents before your gcms notes arrives. When it arrives, share with the house so they can advice. All the best. danieldg: |

Hello. What would you like the house to assist you with? You need at least 1 year tuition + 10k cad. So 16k cad is too small. And if you are going to be self sponsored, you’ll need more money too. A sponsor is your best bet and you must submit the right documents to prevent a rejection. Tonygrinds: 1 Like |

Sorry to hear about your refusal. Please share the documents you submitted and your profile (your age, degree you’re going for, bsc msc etc) any kids? Did you apply alone? Was there any lump/large sum deposit in your mum’s account? Did you submit any landed property? How much is your tuition for 1 year? Actually, these reasons given to you are generic. To see the actual reason for the refusal, you need to order your gcms notes, just google “gcms notes sites Canada” many of them will pop up, you can choose anyone. It costs around 20 CAD. Takes between 15-35 days to arrive. The notes will show the visa officers concerns. Before the notes arrive, the house can make suggestions based on your profile and the documents you submitted. Most Nigerian banks put their limit at 100 usd which is less than the visa fee. If you have a dollar card (domiciliary account) that would work. I saw somewhere on this group that 2 banks still have their limits at 300 usd and you can use their cards. But I can’t remember the bank name. Hopefully someone helps out with that. JohnErrin: |

Hello, Only the visa officer handling your file can give a sure answer. Are you aware that: 1. This college is not eligible for a PGWP? (Post graduation work permit) 2. The course is an ordinary diploma which is lower than a BSc, which I’m guessing you already have? Queenose: 1 Like |

Hello house, Welcome to all the new members. I noticed most people don’t like reading the thread. They just post their questions and go away. Please note that this thread is filled with every information you will need for your study permit application. Also note that it’s not a crime to ask questions, but please also put in effort. Read the thread from page one till the end and also read previous threads. You can ask questions and people will answer but you wouldn’t get so much information compared to when you read the whole thread yourself. This journey is not for the weak. You need to put in effort please. May we all reach our goals. Best wishes 9 Likes |

Hello aminat2000, Is your father going to sponsor you? If yes, his bank statement (4-6 months) and he should write a sponsorship letter stating that he’ll support you. And yours (if you would like to show it) I’ll advise him to transfer the living expenses of 10,000 cad to your account and that you show your account Some other things can be in your proof of fund section, although they won’t count to your total funds available. Things like: Pension statement of your dad Any investment/shares Landed properties Your sponsor also needs to show his source of funds, that means where his money is coming from. If he’s employed he needs his letter of employment, letter of introduction from his employer and his payslips (3-6 months). If he’s a business man he needs to show his business registration documents and if possible proof or receipts of his business transactions Please go back to page one of this thread. On that page you can find required documents for application, you’ll get a more detailed response to your question there. As you read through the thread. I advise you to read from beginning to end, take note of documents people who got approved submitted. That will help you figure out the important documents. Please note that the minimum required proof of fund is 1 year tuition + 10,000 cad for living expenses. I’ll advice your sponsor has way over that, because it’s not realistic that he/she will give you all the money in their account for studies. All the best aminat2000: |

Hello house, Info for those who want to submit passports. Here is the info about the required transmission fee, those who need to pay and account to pay to. Please note: if your biometrics was done for your current application and you are submitting your passport to the same center you did your biometrics, you do not need to pay anything. If your biometrics was done for your current application and you are submitting your passport to a different center from the center where you did your biometrics, then you need to pay the transmission fee. If you did biometrics previously e.g for a visitor's visa or previously rejected study permit, then you need to pay the transmission fee. Good luck everyone https://visa.vfsglobal.com/nga/en/can/buy-services |
