Dear House,
If you use proof of funds from an unknown source and you get caught, you’re risking a 5-year ban. Please desist from going through short cuts. May we all reach our goals.

Hello TheExalted,

Please check out the following link, it answers your question

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/coronavirus-covid19/students.html

Since his classes can hold fully online, he’ll have to convince the border control why his coming to Canada is necessary. The ability to enter depends on if the border control officer is convinced plus his institution must have a covid-19 readiness plan.

Best wishes

Hello Tracy2020

The “eligibility passed” was recorded before you did your medicals and biometrics, that’s why it says pending medical and biometrics. Nothing to worry about

Best wishes
Tracy2020:

Thank you Lekiboboe.

It stated:
Applicant requesting a SP to pursue a Masters Program at the University of Manitoba. Scholarship covering first year noted. Financial Support from Parent noted. Statement of Purpose noted. On balance, I am satisfied the proposed studies are reasonable in light of qualifications, previous studies, level of establishment, language abilities, financial ability, and future prospect and plans. Eligibility passed, final decision pending medical and biometric results.

I submitted June 10. This note was recorded June 30. I got medical request July 22, AIP August 5, and Biometrics was done August 26. I don’t know why the final decision is still pending medical and Biometrics.

Hello,

You didn’t share your profile, documents or answer all the questions. But I’ll assume you’ve learnt one or two things from the reply.

Don’t forget to order your GCMS notes. Since your brother is a PR in Canada, he can order the notes for you and it would cost 5 cad.

And also try to read this thread from page one to the end to get tips on how to put in a better application for the next.

Hello Mydream211

Sorry to hear about your refusal

The reasons you were given in your refusal letter are generic. To see the specific cause of your rejection, you need to order your GCMS notes. To do that, just google “GCMS notes Canada sites” and you’ll see several websites you can order it from. It costs between $15-$20 and can take up to 35 days to be ready. Please order it immediately. From the notes you’ll see the visa officers concerns and you’ll be able to address them properly before reapplying.

How much is your tuition for a year? How long is the course you applied for?
Did you use a sponsor or are you self sponsored?
How much proof of fund did you show? (Money available)

For Canada you need to show tuition for 1 year plus at least 10,000 cad for living expenses (that’s why I asked how much your tuition is)

For purpose of visit, it could be that your sop (statement of purpose) was weak or the course you’re going for does not align with your previous education or line of work.

Meanwhile you can share your profile and all the documents you submitted so the house can advice you while you wait for your GCMS notes.

For your profile you can share
Age
Marital status, kids if any
Previous course studied and level (eg bsc, HND)
Course you’re going for in Canada and level
If you are employed, is your salary okay?
Did you use a sponsor. If yes, Did you sponsor do an affidavit of sponsorship for you?
Did you submit proof of any property or land you own?

All the best

Mydream211:
Good day everyone I will really appreciate if someone can please give me a clue of this refusal cuz I'm a lil bit confused.

Please share your profile and documents you submitted to help others in the house.

Tracy2020:
Hello Everyone,

I just received my GCMS notes. I have earlier received AIP and Medical request. The notes doesn’t say anything about Approval or not. There are a lot of pages showing different things. This is not a response to your question.

But whatever you choose, you’ll need to be able to explain (in your statement of purpose) how it aligns with your previous study and/or your work experience and how it would help you with career advancement. You can just put that behind your head when making your choice.

Hello MadeMan01

Sorry to hear about your refusal

If you’re reapplying you’ll use same UCI number.

The reasons you were given in your refusal letter are generic. To see the specific cause of your rejection, you need to order your GCMS notes. To do that, just google “GCMS notes sites” and you’ll see several websites you can order it from. It costs between $15-$20 and can take up to 35 days to be ready. Please order it immediately. For Canada you need to show tuition for 1 year plus at least 10,000 cad for living expenses (that’s why I asked how much your tuition is) And sometimes they check it the person would be capable of paying the second year tuition (if course is more than a year)
To tackle the insufficient funds, your sponsor can pay your tuition (please be sure of the tuition refund policy of your school before doing this) and he can also transfer 10,000 cad as living expenses to your personal account (he can state this in his sponsorship letter) this will show that your brother will sponsor you indeed.

For purpose of visit, it could be that your sop (statement of purpose) was weak or the course you’re going for does not align with your previous education or line of work.

Meanwhile you can share your profile so the house can advice you while you wait for your GCMS notes.

For your profile you can share
Age
Previous course studied and level
Course you’re going for in Canada
If you are employed, is your salary okay?
Your tuition for 1 year and total duration of the course
Did you sponsor do an affidavit of sponsorship for you?

Once you get your GCMS notes and see the concerns, you’ll work on them and attach a letter of explanation with your next application, stating what you have done to address the visa officers complain.

All I have said are just speculations, the GCMS notes would make everything clear.

Wait for experienced people in the house to drop their advice.

All the best

Hello house,
I got rejected as well on Saturday. With exact same reasosns given in @ayyoshert refusal. I am contemplating reapplication before month's end as I feel I have strong case.

Gurus how do I go about reapplication. @Lekiboboe @ConradAce @Frankrobbn1 etc.

My questions
1. Do I retain my UCI number and application number when I reapply?
2. How do I go about explaining in my rebuttal, do I refer to my initial LOE?
3. Look at the status of my dashboard on IRCC (attached), everything passed except eligibility whereas I satisfied all Eligibility requirements. What does Back ground check completed mean? Does it mean it is done, OK and won't be repeated?
4. Initial application I attached
a.Sponsor letter and SOA from brother who is UK citizen £40,000+
b. Sponsor UK passport bio data page
c. My statement of account N5m
d. My pension statement N5,211,111
e. My two title deed for land in Imota Ikorodu and Igbesa Ogun
f. My tax card and online statement
g. Professional certification NIESV, IFMA and ESVARBON
h. NYSC
i. CV
j. Proof of ownership of car
k. ICAS Educational Credential Assessment evaluating my HND credentials as equivalent to applied bachelor degree (school was closed when I applied in July so no transcript)
l. No wife or kid yet (don't want to start faking relationship)
m. Worked for a bank from 2009-2019. Now self employed as a real estate consultant due to COVID
n. LOA from UWinnipeg PGD Spring 2021(May)

I wanna now respond to the points and include
-IELTS result though I don't need it as coming from English speaking country
-pictures of father, mom, me, and two bros including the one in UK
-strong rebuttal stressing why I will to return to Nigeria and letting them know I have UK as option if I wanna relocate due to bro citizenship
To all those who have reapplied and were successful please advise me.

Hello ayyoshert

You’re welcome.

MBA seems fine to me. The gcms notes would throw more light into the “purpose of visit”

With your tuition, the funds you submitted cannot work. You tuition is high!! With approximately 26k per session. That’s about 52k cad for a year(correct me if I’m wrong please)

If you add 52k and the 17k for living expenses I calculated previously, you’ll see your balance was too low. Also remember they’ll most likely want to see how you can pay your tuition for the second year.

My advice would be to look for a course with cheaper tuition or take your time to build your account up. You’ll be needing a lot of money.

All the best

ayyoshert:

I do really appreciate you for the time you took to elaborate on steps to take, you're a wonderful person. I will order for the gcms as advised. I studied Mgt and Accounting at undergraduate level(Bsc), the course applied for is MBA for 2years( 25, 687 CAD per session) i work in the public service, as a senior staff who manages surbodinates i felt an MBA program can align. I indicated in my SOP of courses and training i have done outside the country US and India and how i believe the MBA program will assist me in making better decisions in managing people after i come back to my job in Nigeria. It's disappointing, However i will check the notes to see the specific issues.
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by Chocs(f): 3:03am On Oct 04, 2020
Hello ayyoshert

Sorry to hear about your refusal.

First thing you should do is to order your gcms notes. The reasons you were given in your refusal letter is generic. To see the specific cause of your rejection, you need to order your GCMS notes. To do that, just google “GCMS notes sites” and you’ll see several websites you can order it from. It costs between $15-$20 and can take up to 35 days to be ready. Please order it immediately. From the notes you’ll see the visa officer’s concerns and you’ll be able to address it before replying if you decide to reapply.

For your study permit application, you should show your tuition for the first year plus at least 10,000 cad for your living expense
For the people accompanying you, you need 4,000 cad for the first and 3,000 cad for every additional person, so for your wife and son you need 7,000 cad

This brings what you need to show for living expenses to 17,000 cad (approximately 5 million) plus Your first year tuition.

Also note that since you’re self sponsored the visa office will check for prospects on how you’ll pay your tuition for the subsequent years (if the program is more than one year) So you need to show a lot of money.

Was there any unexplained lump/huge sum deposit into the account in the time frame of the statement you submitted? That’s another reason for rejection on financial grounds.

I’ll advice you build your account up a lot more.

As for purpose of visit, it could be that your statement of purpose/letter of explanation was not very convincing or it could be that the course you’re going for isn’t showing a career/academic progression.

For the house to be able to advise you properly, you can share what you studied previously and the level (eg bsc, HND) and the course you’re going for now and the level. Also share what area your current employment is in. Usually your proposed study should align with your previous study or employment.
Please also share the length of the course you applied for in Canada and the tuition fee.

As for family ties, you applied with your whole family. They think you won’t be coming back. You can tackle that by reapplying without them, and bringing them over after you’ve gotten your study permit. Although people have applied with their family and gotten it, if you want to do that, you’ll have to show strong financial ties to the country (landed properties, assets worth a lot, a good job to come back to etc)

Lastly, if you’re applying without your family, you must show proof that they’ll be well taken care of in your absence (enough funds) All the money belonging to the family cannot be used for your studies. You’ll need to show a good amount available for their survival.

All the best sir

I greet everyone. My application includes my wife and son, However have just been refused, i have commenced the fall semester on online platform (University of northern British Columbia), i made use of 3 accounts: My Wife's Account which i am.also a signatory has like 14m, My Business account with 2.5m in it and my Salary account from work( Public servant). There is an affidavit on my wife's account to show that the money in it is to be used to finance the program and other expenses. I have a Farm registered with cac( i didn't furnish them the cac documents, only the account statements which has 2.5m as stated above) I was refused with following reasons. Please any insight and way forward?

Hello eusuph99

As far as I know there is no con. But going for a 1 year course means you’ll get a 1 year post graduation work permit. If you’re looking to apply for PR (permanent residence) it might be such a short time to to work and gain experience which would boost your CRS score for the PR application. Except you already have about 3 years of work experience.

All the best

Good morning guys, I applied for Msc by coursework which is only a year program. Is there any con to it during application for study visa?

Hmm. That means the best thing for her to do is to ask IRCC.

TimAke:
Hey Chocs, that is the usual message on everyone's GC account before a medical request drops, no?

Yes, I have been a resident here for 3 years now and others before me who had left from here had medicals done too. Maybe she/he can tell if there was need for medical examination at the point of application.

Hello,

I can’t really help with this. Hopefully others in the house would know something

All the best

Thank you for your response chocs.

My tuition fee is $19807 for a year, does that mean 9m to 10m will be enough? The money is in form of Bitcoin, can I state it that I just sold my Bitcoin to cash so that it won't be as if someone just transferred 10m to me. Can a screenshot of my Bitcoin wallet serve as proof for that? I'm really confused .

Hello,

That’s really insightful. Her GC account says she does not need a medical exam.

The country you applied from, had you been resident there for >6 months in a stretch that year? Just curious
TimAke:
You might want to reconfirm that. I applied from a country that is "No" on that list but still needed to do medicals. Another question to be asked is When he started his application did the information he provided later generate a response that he needs to take a medical exam.
