Hello Macj247 You’re welcome. I’m female Have you gotten an admission to any institution yet? (1) Before applying for a study permit you must first get an admission to a DLI (designated learning institution). It can be a college or University. Make sure you check if it is eligible for PGWP(post graduate work permit) which would let you stay back to work in Canada after studying. You can check the name of the school in the link below. After entering what province (area) the school is in, you would see if it is eligible for PGWP (they write yes next to it if it is eligible) https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/study-permit/prepare/designated-learning-institutions-list.html (2) Next you apply for your visa. There are two ways to apply: 1) paper application submitted to VFS (2) online application Please read the info in the link below. If you choose online application (which I recommend) just click the link, click “apply online for a study permit” choose “create account” and after account creation, you’d be asked some questions and based on your answer a checklist with the list of documents would be created for you. If you choose to do the paper way, you can find the process in the link below too https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/student.asp Please make sure you read this thread from page one to the end. Take your time to learn about the application process to prevent a rejection. People can advise you, but the major work lies in your hands to read wide and learn about the process. If anything isn’t clear, feel free to ask questions on the thread. At the bottom of this page, you’ll see different numbers, those are the page numbers for this thread (group). Please click on 1 and start reading till you get to the end. All the best

Hello amobola The ideal career progression would be a PhD but if you are not cut out for that, you can go for another master’s if you can convince the visa officer that it will be beneficial to your career. You can check the following out PhD global governance https://www.wlu.ca/programs/international-policy-and-governance/graduate/global-governance-phd/index.html https://uwaterloo.ca/graduate-studies-postdoctoral-affairs/future-students/programs/global-governance-phd-waterloo https://www.queensu.ca/sgs/programs-degrees/global-development-studies @lekkiboboe please could you assist? Hello Macj247 I’m not sure I understand your question clearly. Do you want to travel to Canada and then apply for your study permit from within Canada? To learn more about study permit (study visa) applications, please start reading from page 1 of this thread. It has all the information you need. Hello Hassan19 How much is your tuition for 1 year? You need to show proof of available money for 1 year tuition plus at least 10,000 Canadian dollars for your 1 year living expense. If 9m is sent to you in such a short time, you should explain where it is from with proof, otherwise you might be rejected for insufficient funds. For example If it’s from the sale of a property, you should include the sale agreement or deed. Summary: source of lump/huge sums should be explained with proof. Would that be the only source of funds you have? Do you have a job with income? Or are you using any sponsor? Simply getting all the money from someone might not be enough. Hello Silvamania You need to input just the tuition for your first year there. For living expenses (Room and board) you need to input at least 10,000 Cad. If your letter of acceptance came with a recommendation for living expenses then you might have to use their figure. For “others” you can put 3,000 - 4,000 cad The important thing is when you add you tuition + Room and board + others, it shouldn’t exceed the amount you have available for your studies. @Justmellow stated his own opinion about filling this section, I’ll tag you in it. There’s really no fixed rule for it. silvamania: 1 Like |

Hello ma, No problem. You can ask as much as you need to. My personal opinion would be, if there’s any entry and exit stamp, then you can mention it and state the reason as “transit” letskeeptalking: |

You’re welcome ma. To your question, I would say yes. If there is any visa in the old passport or any page with stamps proving travel history, you can add it. You can make a table in the first page stating what pages your current passport can be found and old passport. And merge everything. Eg Current passport (page 1-5) Previous passport (page 6-10) Others might advise otherwise, but this is my opinion. All the best ma letskeeptalking: 1 Like |

Hello letskeeptalking You might want to pause before submitting your application. Please read this thread from page one until the end and gain more knowledge about applying for a Canadian study permit before submitting to avoid any error In the application for temporary residence form, you should simply state the places you have travelled to outside your home country or country of residence in the last 5 years or since you turned 18, whichever is more recent. As for the proof of the travel, you can attach the pages of your passport with visas and stamps under the “passport” section. Scan the pages and merge them into one file. What do you mean by sop of proof of funds? Sop means statement of purpose. Do you mean soa (statement of account)? There is a proof of fund section which should contain your statement of account and any other thing showing your financial capabilities (Loan from bank, payslips, proof of employment, proof of business registration etc) As for home ties, the proof comes in your statement of purpose/letter of explanation and should be uploaded under “client information” You should write a statement of purpose/ letter of explanation telling what you want to study the course you have chosen, how it will benefit you, why Canada etc. after the letter, you attach home tie proof or anything else you want. Merge everything and put it under “client information” Your questions shows you are not very familiar with the whole process (I might be wrong) If I am right, please take your time to read this thread from page 1 and learn before you apply. If anything is not clear, please feel free to ask on the thread. Please see these links too to know the appropriate section for each documents (please read the links carefully) https://www.nairaland.com/4773130/canadian-student-visa-thread-part/33#72169936 https://www.nairaland.com/4773130/canadian-student-visa-thread-part/228#75475575 https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/study-permit/get-documents.html https://students.ubc.ca/international-student-guide/immigration/study-permits/about-initial-study-permits/tutorial-apply-initial-study-permit-required-documents All the best letskeeptalking: 5 Likes |

Hello scaezar My suggestion is for you to order your GCMS notes. With the note, you would be able to see what’s going on with your application and see if the visa officer has made any comment on your file. To do that, just google “GCMS notes sites” and you’ll see several websites you can order it from. It costs between $15-$20 cad and can take up to 35 days to be ready. If you have someone in Canada, they can order it for you too, it will cost them $5 cad. Also, you may place a call (this is stressful and I do not really recommend it), send an email or webform to ask them about any update. Call (when calling from outside of Canada): 1.613. 944.4000. Email (nairobi@international.gc.ca, nrobi-im-enquiry@international.gc.ca, nrobi-immigration@international.gc.ca) Please state your application number, UCI number, full name and date of birth as it is on your application in the email. For webform, please find the link below. Choose “my application is being processed outside Canada” for the office processing it, choose “Nairobi Kenya” if you applied from Nigeria. https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/contacts/web-form.asp Finally, wait for the input of others in the house All the best scaezar: 2 Likes |

Hello smarteyez313 I’m not sure anyone can tell you what would be enough. It all depends on the visa officer. People can only advice you on what you could use. Whether that would be enough or not, depends on your situation and the visa officer. Home ties can be social or economic. Business, land or houses, other valuable properties, family members, partner(if married), your children, a great job (get a study leave letter that states you will be taken back on your return), community involvement and volunteering. That’s all I can think of for now All the best smarteyez313: 1 Like |

Hello, I meant ask them what will happen if you don’t pay the full requested money by the deadline (that’s if it’s not already stated in the letter you got) ask if your admission would be revoked/ cancelled without the full payment by the deadline. If they say yes, then you shouldn’t apply for the visa without paying the requested amount by the deadline. All the best elmogaji: |

Hello elmogaji It is best to ask your college. But without the deposit, it’s possible your admission can be revoked. And it might affect your visa application. So please send an email to the college All the best elmogaji: |

Hello sneagolben Yes, you can do an upfront medical. You’ll get a slip from the clinic after the exam and you have to upload the slip with your application under the section for upfront medical. If you do the exam after your application has been submitted then you’ll need to send the form via webform and/or email to IRCC. For more information about medical exams for study permits (study visa) please see the link below https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/medical-police/medical-exams/requirements-temporary-residents.html To see the available places (approved panel physicians) for medical examinations in Nigeria, please see https://secure.cic.gc.ca/pp-md/pp-list.aspx All the best

|

Hello NwanyiOkpa It must be frustrating to wait for so long. Even if the normal processing time is 30 days, some applications take more than 30 days. The delay could be from IRCC in releasing it. If that is the situation in your case, the third party site wouldn’t be able to do anything but wait. Sometimes, they could raise a complaint to IRCC that the time limit has passed. But they’ll still have to wait. If you haven’t contacted the 3rd party site you ordered from directly, please do so and see what they say. I hope you get a response soon All the best NwanyiOkpa: |

Hello lassky, You must book an appointment before you can give your biometrics at vfs. On the day of your appointment, go with the following documents: - 2 colored photocopies of the international passport you made your application with - Your biometric instruction letter from IRCC (letter you received asking you to go for biometrics) - 1 copy - Your appointment booking confirmation -1 copy They’ll check this at the gate, if you didn’t book, you would not have this document and therefore, you would not be allowed in. - A pen - Your face mask To book your appointment check the link below https://visa.vfsglobal.com/nga/en/can/book-an-appointment All the best lassky: |

Someone woke up and decided to pass commentaries on the last argument that happened on this thread. Please can we let sleeping matters be? Not everything must be used as entertainment. Let’s maintain decorum please and act like the adults that we are. To think that feminism is something limited to Twitter, shows a lot about how you think (to the troll) If you’re genuinely thinking of going to Canada it’s best to start moving with the realities of the 21st century. And to the person who referred to someone as acting like someone on their period etc even if you wrote no offense intended, I hope you’re aware that was rude to all women on this platform. Writing the “no offense” disclaimer actually shows you know the statement was offensive. Let us all do better. Be kind, before you post or reply anything, think about it. Not everything must be handled with insults. Blessings to us all as we comply. May the reason why we’re on the thread come to pass. All the best 8 Likes |

Hello Ckechi Sorry to hear about your refusal. The reason you were given in your refusal letter is very generic. To see the specific cause of your rejection, you need to order your GCMS notes. To do that, just google “GCMS notes sites” and you’ll see several websites you can order it from. It costs between $15-$20 cad and can take up to 35 days to be ready. Please order it immediately. From the notes you’ll see the visa officers concerns and you’ll be able to address it properly before replying if you decide to reapply. You’ll need your UCI number, Application number, name and date of birth as it is in your application and you’ll need to fill a consent form for IRCC to release your information to the site you order it from.
