"Tinubu’s Broadcast A Waste Of Time": Atiku Expresses Grief Over President's Speech Atiku's reaction to President Tinubu's live broadcast In the speech, the president promised that there would be "a glorious light" at the end of the darkness, adding that it is a pain that Nigerians have to go through to reach that promised land. But in his reaction, the former vice president, in a statement signed by his special assistant on public communication, Phrank Shaibu, said the President's broadcast was "uninspiring and deceptive", adding that it was "a complete waste of time. "Atiku alleged that the broadcast was only meant to convince and stop organised labour from suspending its planned nationwide protest. Shaibu maintained that Tinubu only had the afterthought after his administration removed the fuel subsidy without a clear plan to cushion the hardship and pains that come with it on Nigerians, adding that the government of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has made Nigerians poorer. Recall that Atiku and the PDP are still challenging the outcome of the 2023 presidential election that produced Tinubu at the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC). It is reported that Biodun Oloyede, an academic and writer, has urged President Bola Tinubu to rethink the move of transferring N8,000 cash palliative to 12 million poor and vulnerable families in Nigeria. Oloyede, who is don at the Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, wondered what would happen to the 12 million families after the six months that the government planned to distribute the palliative. The literati also posited that such palliative would amount to economic fortune for the country and its people. My people if you are interested in a better life.
