“After much deliberation, we have made the conclusion that continuing the system operation, without our leader and ideological inspirer, is impossible and makes no sense,” a message on MMM Nigeria website had read.

In a surprising turn of events, however, the scheme announced it had re-launched globally since January “to make Mavrodi’s legacy worthwhile.”

“Like sunrise in the morning , MMM Cooperation set the pace on the 22nd of January 2019 all over the world.

“From negligence by many to fear of unknown by prospective participants at the beginning; we are were we are today being most populous platform all over the world with six million participants all in space of four months,” a message on its website read.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that one of the coordinators who gave his name as Guider Tee on Twitter, said the new MMM is in over 170 countries.

Great News……MMM is back and better!

Crime / Musician Naira Marley Gets N2m Bail by chrysora: 7:33am On May 31, 2019
The Federal High Court in Lagos yesterday granted a musician, Azeez Fashola (aka Naira Marley), N2millon bail with two sureties in the like sum.
Justice Nicholas Oweibo ruled that one of the sureties must be on Grade Level 10 in the federal or state employ.

The other surety must have a landed property within the court’s jurisdiction, he added.

The judge directed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to verify the bail terms.

He adjourned till October 22 for trial.

EFCC arraigned Naira Marley on May 20 for alleged credit card fraud.

He was charged with 11 counts of violating the Cyber Crimes Act of 2015, to which he pleaded not guilty.

Also mentioned in the charge is Yad Isril, said to be at large.

The musician risks seven years in jail if found guilty.
Defence counsel Mr. Olalekan Ojo (SAN), who led no fewer than eight other lawyers, prayed the court to grant the musician bail on liberal terms.
He argued that as a celebrity, the defendant would not jump bail.

Ojo gave a Yoruba proverb that ‘’A person cannot steal the trumpet that belongs to the king because he has nowhere to blow it.”

Citing relevant authorities as well as a Supreme Court decision, Ojo urged the court to grant Naira Marley bail on liberal terms.

He said the law provided for a prison term of not more than seven years for the offence, adding that it was bailable.

But, EFCC counsel Mr. Rotimi Oyedepo opposed the bail application on the grounds that the defendant was a “flight risk” and that granting him bail would send a wrong signal to the public.
He said there was an upsurge in cybercrime popularly termed “yahoo yahoo” in Nigeria, which he noted had dented the country’s image.
The prosecutor added that as a celebrity, the defendant’s conduct had a multiplier effect on the youth who looked up to him as a role model.

Oyedepo prayed the court to deny the musician bail.

Ruling, Justice Oweibo said that the reasons adduced by prosecution were not strong enough to warrant denial of bail.

EFCC said the defendant committed the offence on November 26, 2018, December 11, 2018 and May 10.

The commission said he conspired with others to use access card numbered 42658840359191132 issued to other persons in a bid to obtain gain.

EFCC said Naira Marley, with intent to defraud, possessed a counterfeit card numbered 4921819410257431, on May 10.

The commission said he also used access card numbered 5264711020433662 issued to another person to obtain fraudulent financial gains.

The prosecution said some of the credit cards bore the names Nicole Louise Malyon and Timea Fedorne Tatar.

The alleged offence is contrary to Section 27(1)(b) and 33(9)of the Cyber Crimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc) Act 2015 and punishable under Section 33(2) of the same Act.

The singer was arrested on May 10 following intelligence report which EFCC said it received about his involvement in Internet fraud.

The court premises were packed with supporters, as they hailed Naira Marley, who was brought by prison officials.
Some strained to catch a glimpse of the music star as he stood in the dock. He wore a black T-shirt and black trousers with his trademark dreadlocks.

At the launch of the Revised National Youth Policy, 2019 which took place in Akure, Ondo State on May 24th, the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung, in a foreword presented at the launch, disclosed that the age bracket for the classification of youth in Nigeria has been reviewed downward from 18 – 35 years to 15 – 29 years.

Dalung in his foreword, stated that the age classification had to be reviewed downward so that every federal government intervention programmes designed for youths will get to the youths themselves and not adults masquerading as youth.

Veteran Nigerian singer Daddy Showkey has again called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to leave Nigerian Singer Azeez Fashola better known as Naira Marley and go after individuals that have looted the country's money.

The singer had earlier begged the EFCC to have mercy and release Naira Marley.

However, his plea fell on deaf ears as the singer was arraigned yesterday at the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos before Hon. Justice I. Nicholas Oweibo who ordered that the singer be remanded in prison till May 30, when is bail application will be heard.

At his arraignment yesterday, Naira Marley was guarded by security officials attached to the EFCC but the sight of the security operatives did not go down well with Daddy Showkey who took to his Instagram handle today to express his displeasure.

Speaking in a mix of Pidgin and English, he said: "Many things I saw yesterday made me laugh. What did Naira Marley do to warrant all the security? All the people wey be threats to our society, they never do them like this oh.

“This boy is a small boy, all of us know what we did while we were young. One day, your own will come. Don’t think because you are in power now, you will be using your position anyhow.

NYSC / Minimum Wage: NYSC Allowance Rises To N30,000 by chrysora: 9:57am On May 17, 2019
The Federal Government has increased the monthly allowance of members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to 30,000.

Nigeria’s Finance Minister, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed disclosed this on Thursday in Abuja during a press conference where she added that the total sum of N649.434 billion was verified by the ministry as the outstanding balance to be refunded to the state governments.”
She, however, noted that the Federal Government is still working out modalities before the implementation of the new allowance for corps members.

She said, “The other aspect that should be clear is that there is an increase for the NYSC as well because NYSC, by its Act, is designed that they earn the minimum wage.”

“So, NYSC allowance also has to increase to N30, 000. So, I cannot give you projections right now because the negotiations are not yet concluded.”

Politics / Tribunal Fixes May 22 To Hear Application Seeking To Stop Buhari’s Inauguration by chrysora: 4:20pm On May 14, 2019
The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja, has fixed May 22 to hear an application seeking an order to restrain Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) or any other Justice from swearing-in Muhammadu Buhari as president on May 29.

Chief Ambrose Owuru, Candidate of the Hope Democratic Party (HDP) and his party, who are before the tribunal challenging their alleged exclusion from the Feb.23 presidential election brought the application for consideration on Tuesday.

Justice Zainab Bulkachua, President of the Appeal Court, leading four other justices adjourned hearing on the application on account of non-proper service on the respondents.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Buhari, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and All Progressive Congress (APC) are respondents in the matter.

“The application filed by the appellants/applicants and all other interlocutory applications are hereby adjourned until May 22 for hearing.

“It is hereby ordered that all exchanges of processes and filing of respondents’ briefs are done within the period specified.

“The sitting on the petition filed by the Chief Ambrose Albert Owuru and the Hope Democratic Party (HDP) is hereby adjourned until May 22’’, Bulkachua held.

The applicants had brought the application pursuant to Sections 1 (2), 6 (6) 139, and 239 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

The applicants had also relied on Sections 26 (4) (5) and 138 (1) of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended) and under the inherent jurisdiction of the court.

They are praying for an order restraining the first respondent (Buhari) from presenting himself on May 29 or any other date for swearing in or taking of oath of allegiance and oath of office as president.

Owuru and the HDP are also seeking an order restraining the CJN or any other justice in that stead from swearing-in or administering the oath of allegiance and oath of office on May 29 or any other date on Buhari.

They are praying the tribunal to activate those orders pending the determination of their petition contesting the alleged invalidity of the substituted and questioned presidential election of Feb.23.

The applicants predicated the application on the ground that they had filed a petition on March 3 challenging the validity of the election and the return of the first respondent as winner of the election.

They had raised the other ground to hinge in the fact that pleadings had been concluded among parties and petition fixed for pre-trial hearing session following services of hearing notice to all parties which commenced May 8.

The other ground of the application, according to the applicants, stems from the frantic ongoing preparation for the inauguration of the first respondent in spite of the pending petition.

“A restraining order by this court is appropriate to preserve the subject matter of this petition and prevent the first respondent foisting a fiat accompli and state of helplessness on the court and render the petition nugatory.

“The law is settled that once the question of the validity of Election of any person is challenged as to whether he is validly elected or not, the person is not competent to take office or assume the seat of power until the matter is dealt with’’, they claimed.

However, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), Counsel for the president, informed the panel of his application seeking an order to dismiss the entire processes filed by the appellants, adding that their actions were laughable and incompetent.

Politics / BREAKING: Election Tribunal Urged To Stop Buhari’s Inauguration by chrysora: 3:36pm On May 14, 2019
The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) has been urged to halt the May 29 planned swearing-in of President Muhammadu Buhari for his second term.

The request is contained in motion filed before the tribune by the Hope Democratic Party (HDP) and Ambrose Owuru, identified as the party’s presidential candidate.

HDP and Owuru also seek to restrain the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Tanko Muhammad from administering the oath of office and allegiance on the president.

They want the tribunal to halt the planned inauguration pending the hearing and determination of their petition, challenging the outcome of the last presidential election.

The five-man tribunal, headed by the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, has adjourned to My 22 for the respondents – Buhari, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) – to respond.

Crime / Father Commits Suicide On Mothers’ Day by chrysora: 12:11pm On May 13, 2019
The Chief Driver of Takoradi Flour Mills has committed suicide by hanging at his residence at Effiakuma in the Sekondi/Takoradi metropolis.

The deceased, John Kofi Adams, 55, is believed to have committed the act around 2:00am on Sunday, May 12 at the gate of the compound house where he lived with his family.

Kofi Prah, who is the landlord, tells host of Connect FM‘s OMANBAPA morning show, Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson, it was a lady tenant who woke up at dawn to sweep and bumped into the lifeless body of Mr Adams and raised an alarm.

According to the landlord, the wife of the deceased, Abena Mfantse, who is seriously traumatized, tells him the husband woke up around 2:00am and told her he was going to take his bath

“Least did the wife suspect the husband was going to commit that heinous crime only for his lifeless body to be seen dangling on a loose rope at the main gate of the yard,” the landlord recounted.

Mr Prah says the deceased, who has three kids with the wife, has been living in the house for over 15 years and been usually calm until the unfortunate incident on Sunday.

Neighbours and colleague workers who besieged the premises upon hearing the news appeared utterly shocked since the deceased didn’t show any sign of being troubled.

One question then was left on almost everybody’s lip: “Why would a father commit suicide on Mothers’ Day?”

The body has since been conveyed by the Effiakuma police to the Effia Nkwanta Hospital morgue while investigation continues.

Education / How To File A Complaint Against Your Bank by chrysora: 11:50am On May 13, 2019
Banks are institutions that help you keep your money and facilitate other financial transactions.

These transactions happen smoothly and with no issues. However, there are times when the bank fails in its service to you. It can be very annoying when bank customers experience such issues as unfair or unexplained charges, poor customer service by bank staff, unauthorised transactions on customer accounts through bank transfers or ATM withdrawals, etc.

It is even more frustrating when customers lodge complaint and nothing is done about it.

If you are having challenges sorting out one problem or the other with your bank or any financial institution, bellow are detailed steps you should follow as regulated by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The first and most important step to take is to contact the bank through the quickest channels available. You can reach them on the customer care numbers available or on Social Media.

However, if the result is not satisfactory, you are advised to visit the bank yourself and lay the complaints.

It is also important to note the details of the communication e.g. if a phone call, take down details of when you called, who you spoke to, what you said, and the response you received. All phone calls are recorded so this can easily be reviewed if there are issues later.

Allow two weeks (it might be less in some banks) for the issue to be resolved.

If after lodging your complaint, your Bank still fails to engage you and resolve the complaint within two weeks as provided for in the ATM HELP DESK Circular, you have the right to escalate your complaint to the Consumer Protection Department (CPD) of the CBN.

You can only direct your Complaints to CPD upon the failure of your Bank/Financial Institution to resolve your complaint within the 2 weeks timeline given by the CBN.

You can contact the CPD through the following channels:
E-mail: cpd@cbn.gov.ng
Letter: Director, Consumer Protection Department
Central Business District, Abuja
Your letter of Complaint should be addressed to the Director, Consumer Protection Department. You can submit your letter at the CBN Head Office or at any of the Central Bank of Nigeria branches of nationwide.

The CBN deals with all financial related complaints so far as it is against Financial Institutions within its regulatory purview. How to Write an Effective Complaints Letter

How to write an effective complaints letter

Your complaint, according to the CBN, should be clear and concise to avoid ambiguity. The Complaint letter (petition) should contain amongst other things the following:
• Name, Address, Contact Phone Number & E-mail of the Complainant;
• Name of your Financial Institution;
• Personal banking details ( Do not include PIN & Passwords)
• History/Date of the transaction in dispute;
• Amount claimed (if any);
• Attach relevant documents to support your claim and;
• Evidence to show that you have first lodged the complaint at your bank.

The CBN noted that consumer protection was a critical requirement for financial system stability and an indispensable component for effective regulatory and supervisory framework.

NLC President, Comrade Ayuba Wabba said the protest has nothing to do with the NSITF board but to protest against the action of the Minister.

Religion / Pope Announces Rule Holding Bishops Accountable For Sex Abuse, Cover Ups by chrysora: 12:51pm On May 09, 2019
Catholic Pontiff, Pope Francis, on Thursday, announced that henceforth, bishops would be accountable for sexual abuses or cover ups in their jurisdictions.

The pronouncement, which signalled a change in Catholic Church law makes reporting of sexual cases obligatory for clerics and allows anyone to complain directly to the Vatican if necessary.

The papal decree, which covers abuse of children and adults, also obliges every Catholic diocese in the world to set up simple and accessible reporting systems and encourages local churches to involve lay experts in investigations.

The decree, whose preparation was reported first by Reuters in April, is the second such papal provision since a summit on abuse by senior Church bishops at the Vatican in February.

It sets time limits for local investigations and the Vatican’s response to them and allows for retroactive reporting.

It also says bishops with conflicts of interest should recuse themselves from investigations and that they can also be held accountable for abuse of power in sexual relations with adults.

The 19-article decree called “Vos Estis Lux Mundi” (You Are the Light of the World), raises 16 to 18, the age of adulthood in cases of sexual abuse.

It also covers possession of child pornography.

The decree says local Church officials cannot order those, who report abuse to remain silent and that senior bishops should make provisions to prevent documents from being destroyed by subordinates if needed.

It directed that clerics should follow local law on whether they are obliged to report alleged sexual abuse to civil authorities.

Crime / Corpse Of Six-year-old Boy Declared Missing Found In Neighbour's Freezer by chrysora: 3:15pm On Apr 27, 2019
The Police in Lagos have arrested a woman, in whose freezer Treasure Akinsohun, a six-year-old boy, was found dead hours after he was declared missing.

The freezer was normally used to sell water and soft drinks.

DSP Bala Elkana, the command’s spokesman, confirmed the arrest to NAN on Friday, saying the corpse had been deposited at the mortuary while investigation was ongoing.

Elkana said that at about 8.30pm on April 23, one Eunice Akinsohun of Oyedele Street, Alapere ketu, reported her six-year-old son Treasure missing since about 9am.

He said the corpse of the boy, was found in a freezer a day later inside the shop owned by Eunice’s neighbour, one Patience Odowo. Patience’s shop was at 12 Orisigun Street also in Alapere.

Odowo was promptly arrested.

Sources said Treasure and his mother lived in Ikorodu and had gone to Ketu to celebrate the Easter holidays with his maternal aunt.

It was gathered that Treasure and some children in his aunt’s compound were playing when he suddenly disappeared, but his body was later found inside the freezer at Orisigun Street, about five streets from where his mother’s younger sister resides.

Eunice Akinsohun, the bereaved mother, told journalists that she noticed her son was not among the other children playing in the compound.

She said when she asked for his whereabouts, the other children could not give an answer, forcing her to raise the alarm.

After a frenetic combing of the neigbhourhood for the child turned vain, Eunice decided to reported the case to the Police at Alapere Police Station.

“I also called my husband on the phone to inform him of the development," she said.

"Before I got back home, a crowd had gathered at my sister’s house at Alapere to help in the search for my son. Throughout that day we couldn’t locate the exact place where he was.

"When my husband eventually arrived, he also tried his best with my sister’s husband and some elders in the community. He was still not found. That was how we went back to Ikorodu that night in anguish."

The woman said she and her husband were on their way back to Alapere from Ikorodu when they received a phone call that her son had been found in a woman’s freezer at Orisigun Street.

“Immediately I saw the corpse of my son, I fainted," she said.

"I was later revived at the hospital. What surprised me was how my son got into a freezer on another street. I still don’t understand how he got into the freezer as I speak with you, but it is left for the police to investigate."

Ojo Akinsohun, the father of the boy, urged the Police to investigate the matter, saying: "I can’t allow my child to die in vain."

Education / JAMB To Release 2019 UTME Results From Monday by chrysora: 2:10pm On Apr 27, 2019
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has assured candidates of the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) that results would be ready from April 29.

The Board’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dr Fabian Benjamin, disclosed this in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Bwari.

Benjamin said that screening of the results would soon be over and the result released.

“We are still screening but hopefully, anytime next week, the results will be ready,” he said.

Speaking also on the board’s readiness to screen results of UTME candidates from 2009 to 2018, Benjamin said this would begin after the release of the 2019 results.

He said this was part of the board’s effort to address the issues of malpractice in the system.

The board had stated that it would only release the 2019 UTME results after undergoing thorough screening to identify and apprehend examination cheats.

The process would identify those involved in multiple registration through biometric capturing and also address group registration by some elite schools, who end up mixing candidate’s data.

The board said: “Normally, results are expected to be out within 24 to 48 hours as obtained in previous examinations held in 2017 and 2018.

“However, the board does not want this to be business as usual.

“Hence the programmed delay, which is part of its deliberate effort to properly scrutinize, identify and address all forms of examination malpractice.

“The board will continue to act decisively with regards to any irregularity discovered even after results are released.

“However, the board has made it a point of duty to screen all activities at all centres via CCTV recordings, to ensure that it does not release results of compromised examinations.”

The board, while regretting all inconvenience caused in the process, reaffirmed its commitment to providing equal opportunity to all candidates in order to articulate their aspirations.

JAMB said that effective from when it would officially release the results, all candidates can simply send RESULT, via SMS, to 55019 using the same number that was used for registration.

The result, it said, would be replied as an SMS shortly after.

This process, the board explained, was simplified to eliminate exploitation by business centres and cyber cafés who often take advantage of candidates.

It also urged candidates to ignore all messages in circulation on how to check the results as they were all products of deceit.

The 2019 UTME was conducted from April 11 to April 18 and over 1.8 million candidates registered for it.

Romance / How To Overcome Rejection By A Crush by chrysora: 1:54pm On Apr 27, 2019
The story of one Deji Adenuga, who burnt and killed eight family members of a lady simply known as Titi has sent shock waves across the nation.

Titi had called off the love relationship with him and the fleeing Adenuga thought to pay her back by pouring petrol in her family bedroom while they slept and set it on fire.

Eight members of her family were burnt beyond recognition.

According to the Public Relations Officer of the Ondo State Police Command, Mr Femi Joseph, Titi is the only survivor of the unfortunate incident for now.

But she is in critical conditions in the hospital while Adenuga is on the run

This is one painful situation youths today find themselves. There is the possibility of being in love with someone that does reciprocate.

It is even possible for a young man to ask a lady for a relationship and she turns his request down.

There are ways to handle this situation to prevent a severe damage or committing a criminal offence. Some include:

1. Give yourself time to grieve: After the rejection, don’t be afraid to feel any emotions that come your way. Sadness, anger, fear, and similar feelings are all natural parts of rejection, and working through them now will make it far easier to move on in the future.

Don’t be afraid to cry or scream when you’re alone. If you can, talk through your feelings with a close friend, family member or therapist. Sharing your emotions with a supportive, understanding person can make a huge difference in your mental well-being.

2. Think about why she said no: Though returning to the rejection may hurt, doing so after grieving can help you better understand what happened and gain some closure. If you believe your crush said no because she dislikes something about you, think about whether it is something you should change or if it is a simple matter of preference.

3. Be kind to her afterwards: This is sometimes hard to do because if your crush is someone you see a lot, it is normal to experience some awkwardness after a rejection. But nerves will cool down in the long run, and then your normal friendship can resume. Until then, try to be as kind, friendly, and polite to her as you can.

4. Keep yourself busy: Try picking up a brand new hobby or an old job that you have not touched in a while. If that is not enough to take your mind off things, try setting a personal goal you want to achieve. The busier you are, the easier time you’ll have getting over the rejection.

5. Remember that rejection is not a personal attack: In most cases, romantic rejection is not a criticism of your character. If your crush decides she doesn’t want you, it doesn’t mean she dislikes you or even finds you unattractive. Though every instance of rejection is different, the common thread is that “you” are not rejected.

Crime / Jealous Lover Sets Ex-girlfriend's Family Of Nine Ablaze — by chrysora: 11:36am On Apr 24, 2019
Deji Adenuga, a jealous lover, has set ablaze a family of nine in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo state, SaharaReporters has learnt.

Adenuga's evil action in setting ablaze the family followed a dispute between him and his girlfriend identified as Titi Sanumi, which forced the latter to quit their long-time relationship.

Our correspondent gathered that the incident occurred on Adetuwo Street near a popular hotel in Ayeka/Igbodigo on Igbokoda Road, Okitipupa, at about 2:35 am on Tuesday.

SaharaReporters learnt that Adenuga, an ex-convit, brought a jerrycan laden with petroleum in the midnight, gained entrance into the building by breaking a window, and sprayed the family while they were asleep.

Two of the family members immediately died in the fire while the remaining seven were rushed to the Trauma Centre, Ondo, where they all gave up the ghost.

The dispute between the suspected arsonist and his estranged lady was said to have been reported earlier at the Okitipupa Divisional Police station, and settled.

However, dissatisfied with the settlement by the Police, the suspect was said to have stormed her family house to set it ablaze.

Sources who further confirmed the incident said the lovers had been in a relationship for four years, which is known to everyone on the street.

SaharaReporters exclusively learnt that Adenuga was angered that Titi decided to quit the relationship after he had invested heavily in her.
One of the sources, Femi Adeusi, narrated how the two lovers had been having disagreements.

Adeusi, a close friend to the lovers, said: "What really happened was that both of them had been having dissagrements in recent times and the guy always told us how he had invested in the lady.

"But things became bad when Titi told his boyfriend that she could not cope with the relationship again due to daily disagreements. They had to drag themselves to the police station for settlement. Also, we tried to make them come back and play mature but it's like there is a secret between them that is dark to us because not even Deji was willing to make peace.

"It was like a filmtrick when we were told that he went to set the family's house of Titi on fire and people who were sleeping in the building died in the inferno and few of them could only escaped.

"We gathered that he decided to set the house on fire to punish Titi and not even knowing that the lady had travelled outside town the previous day after their big fight. It is sad he killed innocent persons in the family house while he himself has run away from home after perpetrating the evil act. Police have visited the scene and promised to investigate it."

Femi Joseph, spokesman of the Ondo State Police Command, confirmed the case to SaharaReporters, saying: "One Victor Alade came to report the case to the Police... that seven of his family members were set ablaze in their sleep.

"He told us he suspected one Deji Adenuga but that he ran away from town after perpetrating the evil act. Investigation has already commenced. Our officers visited the scene and evacuated the corpses. So, I can assure you that our officers are already on the trail of the suspect, and in no distant time we shall apprehened him."

The report had claimed that scores of candidates who sat for the UTME and were found wanting by the board were being reduced by 100 marks.

JAMB said that an investigation carried out discovered that the fake news emanated from a gang who coordinated from a town called Igarra in Edo state with affiliates in Lagos and other states.

The board described the act as fraudulent and meant to extort parents and candidates.

“A gang being coordinated from a town called Igarra in Edo State with affiliates in Lagos, Ogun, Osun, Abia, Anambra and Plateau states are circulating fake notice of impending reduction of UTME scores.

“This is with intent to extort and defraud parents and candidates.

“Candidates results would be received on their registered cell phones as soon as the ongoing scrutiny of the examination centers are completed and publicly announced.

“Only the fraudulent candidates or parents stand being defrauded on this matter,” the board said.

NAN recalls that Benjamin had in an interview on Sunday warned candidates not be carried away by rumours and misleading information in some sections of the media, especially the social media.

He also said that the board distances itself from such rumours about releasing results of candidates of the just concluded UTME and steps to check these results as being speculated.

He explained that the board was still screening the results as the examination was ongoing and also because more fraudulent activities were being identified in the process.

He said: “We have to keep screening these results because there are lots of issues we discovered like multiple registrations, impersonation and the likes, so we are still fishing them out.

“Some have been arrested and those yet to be arrested, we have their records, we will fish then out. However, candidates should expect their results very soon.”

He added that the board’s suspension of some Computer Based Test (CBT) centres nationwide has not affected the candidates.
