Career / Re: What Did You End Up Doing After Studying Physiology? by Chukwudaalu(m): 7:01pm On Mar 04, 2022
Yusufunsho100:
After studying physiology for four 4 years in the University, what did you end up doing, and will you recommend someone studying it as course ?
I ended up becoming a software developer. Physiology in Nigeria has no career prospects, except you want to go into teaching, which is now saturated (a lot of Msc holders in Physiology looking for lecturing jobs).

I knew I was not going to toe that career path right from 100 level. Hence, I diverted into IT, and started self learning.

I have no regrets, studying the course. I became more enlightened about the human body, especially the neurological aspect of it.
I finished with an excellent grade in Physiology, and it has opened doors of opportunities for me. There were lots of scholarship opportunities outside the country.

If you are currently studying the course, don't be discouraged. Take your studies very seriously, and finish with good grades. Scholarship opportunities await you, and if you don't want to further in that line, there are lots of graduate trainee programs available. I wish you all the best. See you at the top.

That guy is just trying to massage his ego, he is trying so hard to sell css and html error he made initially that I corrected him about. Little did he know that html and css were not in existence before 1993, Which was until Tim Berner lee invented the web. He is a learner and so just going head strong.

So people who code robotics, IOT and embedded system close bare metal would learn html and css to do so.
Don't waste your time trying to convince him. He believes programming starts, and ends in Web development only.

Dear chukwudalu It is compulsory to have basic knowledge of HTML and css to learn and work with your programming language effectively.
All right Sir. You are right.

You sound dumb . HTML and css can be used on web, app, anything in your life u plan to do with programming.

How can you understand app or desktop styling without css knowledge?

How can you understand or work JavaScript, flutter, react, python, without HTML.

I am sure , you just search what is css and HTML on google , read the first line just to attack because if truly you are a developer you won’t be deceiving this poster.

Who told you HTML and css is just for web? grin angry

Did you hear me say html and css are programming language. I specifically said markup language and css is a style sheet. How can you style without style sheet knowledge bikonu ? I wonder how some pple thinks , always quick to judge, be it web or mobile or anything. You need experience in HTML and the style sheet. You can’t just dive into learning a programming language without a markup or style sheet experience. I am a mobile and web developer.

It is not compulsory to know HTML, and CSS to become a good programmer. There are other areas in IT where requisite knowledge of these two, is not essential.

I had issues with my former laptop, my cousin gave me his own.
It was Window 8 when I got it, upgraded it to Window 10.
Now after downloading both the Visual studio code IDLE and Python, I'm having trouble installing the python in the VSC.
It's been frustrating and I need help please...
The pictures below will help explain my troubles.

Modified!

Please apart from VSC, is there any other good IDLE platform that's available and free?
Why not use Pycharm? Install python on your computer, and install pycharm too. You will be fine.

Webmasters / Re: I Need A Configuration That Allows Two Domain Point To The Same Website. Help!!! by Chukwudaalu(m): 11:33pm On Aug 27, 2020
stevedeey:
1. I have a website currently hosted by a hosting company
2. The website has a domain name i.e (www.existingdomain.com) currently pointing to it

The above is fine and working

3. My client needs another domain i.e (www.newdomain.com) to open the same website (www.existingdomain.com) , the existing domain would also open

At the end of the day, we want to have both (www.existingdomain.com) and (www.newdomain.com) point/open the same website.
Please webmasters, I need your insights on how best I can go about this.
Regards
All you need to do is to redirect the new domain. You can do that through your cpanel.

Hello Nairalanders please i need your help to make a good decision.

I studied Agricultural Economics & Extension and currently managing in a place where i offer Admin support without been paid. Now i want to quit and start learning any I.T/tech skills that is on high demand and will be beneficial to me cause i currently base in Abuja and it has not been easy. Of course we all know tech is a broad field, and there are a lot of interesting directions you can go in. Please advise which I.T skill that is on high demand i can learn as I'm a fast learner..
Your contributions is appreciated.

Thanks...
Don't quit your job yet. Gain mastery of whatever IT skill you would learn. Learning and becoming an expert in any particular skill take time.
I understand you are a fast learner from your post. It's not about the IT skills in high demand, it's all about how good you are. Choose one IT skill as a beginner, learn and relearn, work on simple projects, join online tech communities, make good connections and work smart.
As someone has rightly opined above, you can start with the frontend aspect of Web development, Know the basics of programming. Python is a good programming language and easy to learn and understand. With python, you can choose to focus on one or more of the following:
Web development
Machine learning
Cybersecurity
Data Science
Application development
Robotics
Artificial intelligence
Game development etc.

My choice of programming language is based on personal preference, you can read more on other languages, and make your preferred choice. Nevertheless, I humbly implore you to consider the first two paragraphs in this post crucial.
I wish you a rough journey as you embark on this path.

Though I can say I am kind of good when it comes to Html, CSS and JavaScript. And I understand the MEDIA QUERIES. But I want to know if it is necessary to also learn bootstrap for web development..
Please I just need an advice

It is not necessary. know your CSS grids and media queries very well. There are other frameworks like tailwind CSS. Bootstrap makes your Web development project faster especially if you are a full stack developer.

Can I go into Python backend (Django) without knowledge of HTML and CSS??

knowledge of HTML and CSS is highly recommended. You will definitely need to know the basics. Django will take care of the backend programming logic such as the user sign-in, webpage routing, database connection and the likes.

Though I don't intend on being a full time programmer, I will take your advice nonetheless.

However, where does the basics stop: @ what point does it branch into data?
I really can't say Sir. I will suggest you search for video tutorials on YouTube, you can also download some books on basics of python. They would serve as guides in your learning path. You can also register for online courses on basics of python if you wouldn't mind the cost.
I can vividly recall I started with videos and books. I started from scratch to working with loops, arrays in python, then I registered for a professional online exam for python beginners of which I performed averagely well. Most of the exam questions were focused on syntax and loops. After this, I registered for an online course in data science. Still running the course currently though. I'm not a guru, but I am always happy remembering the hurdles and the little things learned so far. Don't rush it!

Good afternoon all.
Just like the title of the thread suggests, I will like to know how profitable web designing as a freelancer is.

Since this lockdown started, I have had a lot of free time which I will plan to utilize in learning web design. But I'm skeptical on whether it's worth it and how much I can make from it

I will be learning it from scratch as I have no IT background. In fact, I'm an art student, so I want to know whether the effort will be worth it.

I will like to get more insight from gurus and other web designers here on how much money I can make as a freelancer from this.

Or should I face my books?
Good afternoon Sir. Web development is still lucrative. However, it takes patience and time. Don't rush it, and don't follow shortcuts. Sanchez01 has spoken well. I wish you the very best in your new career.

I beg make una rate my own racing chart on tableau. Did this after learning tableau for under 24hours. plotted the animation based on my own intuition, there was no direct example anywhere to help me. I will couple more countries, but i started with one. There is still a lot to learn, but tableau is making Seaborn look like a big waste of time.

https://public.tableau.com/profile/bola2980#!/vizhome/covid-OneNine/Covid19-BelgiumCases?publish=yes

To play the chart, 1. drag the slider back. 2. Press play (unfortunately, you won't be able to fast forward it, you can drag the slider to like halfway to save time). The slider and the play button are around the bottom right corner...see attached file.

Ladies and gentlemen, encourage your boi if you like this small animation wey i arrange. I intend to celebrate every victory! Programming is sweet when you are getting it.
Ooin! You are doing well Sir. You are very right on the last sentence. Come and see the way I jumped up yesterday while working on a web project grin, the stuff had been giving me issues since last week. I finally got a solution yesternight. Hence, the shout for joy cheesy

If you don't understand that code Ibromodzi posted above, you can try this single line code
digit = pd.read_csv('covid.csv',index_col = 'Date', parse_date=True)

It will automatically set the date as the index.
Then you can plot
ibromodzi:

You are dealing with a time series data sir. I do not know the insight you are trying to get by using bar chat... try using line chart instead...
Try this... I hope it does what you want

import pandas as pd
import matplotlib.pyplot as plt

filepath = 'covid.csv' #put your file path here
digits = pd.read_csv(filepath)
digits.set_index('Date', inplace = True)
digits.index = pd.to_datetime(digits.index) # this converts the date to datetime datatype
digits.plot() # you can design your chart anyhow you want
plt.show()
Wow! Thanks a lot my bosses. I will try them out. Thank you
