Dr. Muhammed Ibrahim, a prominent scholar and National Coordinator of Northern Nigeria Good Governance Initiative (NNGGI), has expressed deep concern and disappointment over the betrayal of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu by President Muhammadu Buhari by allowing selfish and desperate members of the APC to instigate the retrial of the Senate Chief Whip, Igbere TV reports.

Gunmmen suspected to be assassins have killed the immediate past chairman of Ugbori community in Warri South council area of Delta, Godwin Metie, Igbere TV reports.
It was gathered that Metie was shot dead by the assailants at Merogun area, near Iyara Junction in Warri, around 9pm on Monday, January 25.
A manager at Sterling Bank, Rumuola Branch, Port Harcourt, Anthony Oko Ikpor, who was captured in a video which went viral on social media after his estranged wife, Blessing Oko Ikpor stormed and disrupted his wedding has finally broken his silence.
In former reports making rounds on different news website, Anthony was accused of secretly getting married to a lady he was secretly dating and later impregnated despite being married for 17 years.
It was also reported that the lady Anthony Oko Ikpor impregnated and secretly married is a sister to ex- staff to Sterling Bank, Easter Igbokwe who the bank relieved her duty as a contract staff in his bank.
However, following questions asked him by Igbere TV correspondent in Port Harcourt, Anthony who spoke through his lawyer accused his estranged wife of adultery.
Anthony said he discovered that his wife brings men whom she used to call her gym instructors and business partners, into their matrimonial home once he leaves for work.
He said he sent Blessing packing after she got pregnant for one of her lovers and in trying to abort the foetus she bled for weeks and was forced at the point of death to inform him (Anthony) by a text message which he said he still have.

“In recent days a certain Blessing Oko Ikpor has been posting videos and granting interviews on social media. In these interviews and postings she has been making outlandish claims about being married to Mr Anthony Ikpor and other false claims. She knows that her former husband Mr Anthony Ikpor will not want to join issues with her.
At this point however it has become necessary to say a few things on this matter for records and posterity to put matters straight:
1. The matter between Anthony and Blessing is purely a private matter and there wasn't any need to be dragging Anthony's employer into it if not for sinister purposes.
2. For the records Blessing and Anthony are no longer married and have gone their separate ways since February 2019. At this moment Blessing lives alone with their daughter while Anthony lives with their 3 sons. As a responsible father, Anthony still takes care of all the children, school, maintenance etc including the daughter living with Blessing.
3. Mr Ikpor has since ended the marriage by returning Blessing and her properties to her people in her ancestral home at Owerri. In Igboland that is the end of the marriage.
4. Blessing is a valueless and useless fellow that 2 years after she was returned to her people by her ex husband, nobody from her village has made any enquiry to the ex husband 's village in Afikpo as to ascertain why she was returned till date.
5. Mr Ikpor discovered that he was married to a serial adulteress who brings men into their matrimonial home once Tony leaves for work calling these men her gym instructors and business partners. She had no business except the babies clothing business Tony opened for her.
6. Matters got out hand when Blessing got pregnant for one of her lovers and in trying to abort the foetus she bled for weeks and was forced at the point of death to inform Anthony by a text message which he still has. After this Anthony was forced to send her packing.
7. Because Anthony couldn't continue to live alone, he found a lady and decided to engage her and marry her after the divorce from Blessing. The introduction ceremony or 'door knocking ' in Igboland was what Blessing sought to disrupt with fake policemen who later ran away. The ceremony was concluded without further hitches.
8. If Anthony was planning to wed on the day, why is there no wedding card?
9. Anthony has filed divorce from Blessing in Court which was slowed down by Corona virus. She refused to mention this and was shedding Crocodile tears and deceiving the public.
10. The marriage between Anthony and Blessing is dead and buried and can never be resuscitated.”
Nollywood actress Regina Askia has revealed she will be playing the role of Olivia, wife to Desmond who will be played by actor Ramsey Nouah in the project titled WEB, Igbere TV reports.
The 53-year-old, who now practises as a nurse in the USA, shared a picture of herself looking regal in an Instagram post on Thursday.
She said it was her last day on set and also sent love to the cast and crew members.
“And so, I wrap up on the set of WEB today as OLIVIA, a wife DESMOND will not forget in a hurry.
"Much love to cast and crew and all the talented young men and women who made it happen,” she wrote.
“Okay!! Back to the grind! Thank you cast and crew of WEB, my friends old and new, lovely reunion and much needed change of scene for me.

Ahead of the January 25 nationwide member registration and re-validation exercise of the All Progressives Congress (APC), former Governor of Abia State and Chief Whip of the Senate, Dr. Orji Kalu has commended the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) under the able and dynamic leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state, for the aggressive membership drive for the party, Igbere TV reports.

The Chancellor of Gregory University, Uturu, in Abia state, Prof. Gregory Ibe, has expressed sadness over the death of Rear Admiral Ndubisi Kanu, (Rtd), who died at the age of 78, Igbere TV reports.
Kanu, a retired naval officer and former military governor of Imo State between 1976 and 1977, died at a hospital in Lagos on Wednesday morning at the age of 77 after a brief illness.
He was also chairman of the defunct National Democratic Coalition (NADECO).
Prof Ibe in a condolence message signed by him and made available to Igbere TV described Kanu as a man filled with uncommon strength and abilities.
The University don praised the late Kanu’s contribution in the agitation for pro-democracy and its tenets in the aftermath of the annulled June 12, 1993 presidential election.
His message read; ; “When I visited you at your country home in Ovim on 30 December 2020 we discussed everything and planned many things without knowing it would be the last time. Indeed it is true when the Bible says that man is like vapour that easily evaporates away.
“It is therefore with sadness and grief that I received the shocking news of the transition to eternal glory of our admirable Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu, who until death was Chairman of our Board of Trustees (BOT).
“Admiral Kanu was a man among men, a Primus Interpares. In the course of his naval career, It was no mean feat that he became the first governor of old Imo State upon its creation in March 1976. He later moved on to serve as the governor of Lagos State in 1977. While in the military as a naval officer, our Chairman, Board of Trustees would rise to become a Rear Admiral and Chief of Nigeria’s Naval Staff.
“To underscore his personality and his pro-stance on human development, while in office as governor of old Imo State, much of what the city of Owerri has become today is as a result of his leadership in town planning , roads construction, expansion of Local Government Areas and the establishment of Imo Broadcasting Service which still broadcasts to this day.
“Admiral Kanu upon his retirement from active military service to the nation, led an increasingly active lifestlye as a civilian. He was a man filled with uncommon strength and abilities. Regardless of his professional background as a military officer, he played a leading role in the agitation for pro-democracy and its tenets in the aftermath of the annulled June 12, 1993 presidential election.
“Our now departed chairman successfully ventured into business, occupied leadership positions in corporate organizations and socio-cultural groups, held honourary doctorate degrees from notable universities in Nigeria, a statesman, a leading light and a very vocal voice within the Nigerian polity regarding true federalist practices.
“Here at Gregory University, Uturu, Rear Admiral Ndubuisi G. Kanu freely offered us great insights and invaluable contributions in activating and sustaining the growth of our blosoming university. He was billed to hold an interactive mentoring session with our scholars on their return from Christmas break.
"Indeed our hearts are broken at this great loss. May the eternal light of God which never grows dim continually shine on him.”
An eighteen (18) years old girl, Esther from Ado Local Government Area of Benue state, in the early hours of Monday, 11th January, 2021, burnt her boy friend, Elvis Chidinma Omah from Nsuka local Government Area of Enugu State to death in Makurdi, Igbere TV reports.
Chidinma, a patent medicine dealer who just returned from Christmas and new year holiday last Saturday had been in the village since on Wednesday, 23rd December, 2020.
Trouble started shortly after Esther was told by her friends that Chidinma travelled to his village to pay a pride price of another girl he intended to marry, an allegation he vehemently denied when he was confronted by Esther but she was not satisfied with his answer.
Consequently, Esther went to an unknown filling station with a gallon on Sunday evening and filled it with premium motor spirit (PMS) commonly known as petrol in line with her undisclosed plan to burn Chidinma.
Esther came to his house in the early hours of Sunday, stayed with him and pretended as if all was well. They ate foods and played together throughout the night until both of them fell asleep.
She then woke up few minutes after 2am and went straight to where she kept the fuel opposite Chidinma's house, brought it to the room, poured the fuel round the room right inside while Chidinma was still sleeping. She ignited the room with matches and ran away immediately.
Few minutes later, some tenants living in the compound came out, shouting and pouring water into the room in an attempt to extinguish the fire.
As the inferno was subsiding, Chidinma who was burnt beyond recognition, managed to come out, shouting that Esther has killed him and was quickly rushed to Federal Medical Centre Apir, Makurdi.
While giving details of the tragic event, an eyewitness and a neighbour to the deceased, Rose Stephen said, they were perceiving smell and sound of fire around 2am on Monday, they came out and discovered that it was Chidinma's room that was burning. They did all they could but couldn't stop the fire from burning him.
She further said, both of them were having issues and were always going to police station in 2020, adding that Chidinma told Esther that he was fed up with her bad characters and was no longer interested in her before he travelled for Christmas and New year.
Rose said she was surprised seeing them together shortly after Chidinma's return from the village from Saturday till on Sunday.
Corroborating the story, another eyewitness and one of the closest friends to the deceased, Abraham Ebute said, Chidinma clearly told Esther he was no longer interested in the relationship with her because of her unruly behaviour and criminal tendency, saying Chidinma was once arrested because she stole a handset belonging to an Air force officer and was traced to Chidinma's house.
Ebute added that, Esther also stole Chidi's phone before he travelled home and promised returning it to him after his arrival, not knowing that her plan was to kill him.
He said, he rushed to Chidinma's house along with his other friends as smoke was going off and cry from neighborhoods only to discover that he was burnt to an unimaginable level, pray to God to receive him in His bosom.
When contacted, the Police Public Relationship Officer, PPRO, Benue State Police Command, Catherine Anene confirmed the tragic incident and the eventual arrest of the culprit, Esther, saying she was in their custody while investigation is still ongoing to unravel the ugly situation.
Charred remains of mattresses, pillows, cloths and other materials belonging to the deceased were seen littered everywhere in his room at the time of a visit to his residence, Off Zaki Biam Street, Wadata Makurdi, this morning.
Chidinma was confirmed dead today, Tuesday, 12th January, 2021 and plan was on the way to convey his corpse to Nsuka by his parents who were already in Makurdi as at the time of filing this report.
Lara Owoeye-Wise, senior special assistant on electronic and new media to Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege, has recovered from coronavirus, Igbere TV reports.
The former PUNCH and AIT journalist disclosed this in a Facebook post on Sunday.
“Exactly one month ago, I tested positive for COVID. I have been in isolation since then.
“Two weeks after, repeat test came back still positive,” she said about what she described as a terrible journey.
Ms Owoeye-Wise, however, got a negative test result on Sunday.
“Exactly a month after, today, I got the confirmation I have been waiting for.
“I’ll share my story later in the week. For now I am just too excited and grateful to God. Grateful for mercy and for Grace.”
Billionaire businesswoman Folorunso Alakija has dissociated herself from groups naming her as part of their organisation including South West Development Commission (SWDC), Igbere TV reports.
In an Instagram post on Tuesday, Mrs Alakija said she was not affiliated to the group or any of such, urging the public to take note.
“I wish to draw the attention of the public to several organisations and online accounts, groups, and pages that have named me as part of their organisation with the aim of defrauding unsuspecting individuals and organisations. One of such is the South West Development Commission (SWDC),” she wrote.
“I wish to state categorically that none of these organisations are affiliated with me nor any of my organisations or ministry.
“Kindly note that such organisations, accounts, and platforms were created for the purpose of defrauding the public.”
The oil and gas mogul further stressed that her social media accounts have the verified sign which should guide the public against falling into the hands of fradusters.
“Please take note of these accounts and be guided accordingly as I will not be liable for any fraudulent transaction perpetrated in my name,” she added.
Olayide Bakare, wife of the founder of Citadel Global Community Church (CGCC) Pastor Tunde Bakare clocked 60 on Saturday, Igbere TV reports.

An unidentified has been nabbed while planting charms at the house of a Ghanaian politician ahead of the election scheduled to hold in the country.

Lauretta Onochie social media aide of President Muhammadu Buhari has debunked a report that another presidential aide Sarki Abba tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19).
SaharaReporters had on Tuesday reported that Mr Abba the senior special assistant to the president on domestic affairs had tested positive for COVID-19.
However, Mrs Onochie shared a photo on Twitter showing Abba at work. She said the photo was taken on Tuesday.
“This is Mallam Sarki Abba with @SundayAghaeze & I this afternoon. He is the close aide to President Buhari who is the subject of Sahara Reporter’s published #FakeNews,” she wrote.
SaharaReporters had reported that Abba tested positive for the virus two weeks ago and had not been seen at the Presidential Villa since that time.
A source was quoted saying: “Abba tested positive for COVID-19 two weeks ago but his current status as we speak is unknown, whether he has tested negative or not.
“All I know is there’s conspiracy of silence with regards to his status.”

What that means is certainly open to interpretation, as some might attribute that statement to a more lyrical direction. On the other hand, some might wistfully pine for a spiritual successor to Keef's formative days, where songs like "Love Sosa" and "I Don't Like" exploded onto the game, the shrapnel still being picked up to this day.

The laws governing rape in Nigeria are the Criminal Code and the Penal Code. The Criminal Code is applicable to Southern Nigeria and the Penal Code is applicable to Northern Nigeria.
The Penal Code, states under Section 282, that man is said to commit rape who, SAVE WHERE HE HAS SEXUAL INTERCOURSE WITH HIS WIFE, has sexual intercourse with a woman against her will and without consent...etc
The Criminal Code states that Any person who has unlawful carnal knowledge of a woman or girl, without her consent, or with her consent, if the consent is obtained by force or by means of threat or intimidation of any kind, or by fear of harm, or by means of false and fraudulent representation as to the nature of the act, or, in the case of a married woman, by personating her husband, is guilty of an offence which is called rape.
The notion that a husband cannot be guilty of rape upon his wife is predicated on the then generally accepted view of the common law. It was based on a theory articulated by Mathew Hale, Chief Justice in England in the 18th century who wrote in 1736 that: the husband cannot be guilty of a rape committed by himself upon his lawful wife, for by their mutual matrimonial consent and contract, the wife hath given up herself in this kind unto her husband which she cannot retract.
In other words, marital rape is not an offence in Nigeria. A husband cannot rape his wife. It is assumed that the wife gives implied general consent to sexual intercourse with her husband upon entering the marriage contract.
My Opinion: Nigeria need to amend its laws to suit the present state.
Marital sex without the other party's consent should be tagged as rape. PERIOD!!!!

A Nigerian slay queen identified as Nikki Fe Fe, shocked many of her followers when she engaged in coitus on her Instagram page during a live session, CH Reports
The lady, Nikki took followers by surprise when she said most of the men who would like to have a fling with her can’t afford her services and went on to show off the money a man laying on the bed, awaiting her services, paid her.
Showing off the wad of cash which she claims is N200k, the lady revealed that a man —visibly seen laying on a bed behind her— paid her the amount so she can “render her services” to him.
She then proceeded to state that she’ll be showing off her bedmatic skills on the man which people can’t perform. Nikki, to the surprise of many, really went down on the man while clad in bed sheets.
