The Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has re-arraigned for the second time, four undergraduates of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and an undergraduate of Babcock University for allegedly gang-raping a 17-year-old undergraduate of UNILAG, DailyLeakers.com report.

Moboluwaji Omowole, Chuka Chukwu and Peace Nwakanma, all aged 19, and James Aguedu and Josephine Osemeka, both aged 20, were re-arraigned on Monday before an Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court.


They were initially arraigned on February 26, 2019, and plead not guilty to a three-count charge of child defilement and permitting defilement of a child and procuration.

The undergraduates were re-arraigned on June 27, 2019, on fresh five-count charge of defilement of a child, permitting defilement of a child, procuration and sexual assault.


On Monday, they were re-arraigned on an amended six-count charge of defilement of a child, permitting defilement of a child, procuration and sexual assault.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty.


Following their re-arraignment, the alleged victim (name withheld) was cross-examined by Ben Edechime, counsel to Osemeka.

The complainant (alleged victim) during her cross-examination told the court that she had never met Osemeka prior to the day she was allegedly gang-raped by the defendants at High-Rise, a staff quarters at UNILAG.

He said she was aware that High-Rise was a public place.

“I saw her (Osemeka) when I first entered into the room with Yinka and also after everyone involved had their turn and come back inside.

“She was outside with the other rapists, and when everyone came inside, she was there when they were molesting me. I was gang-raped by about six to eight people,” she said.


The complainant said after the alleged gang-rape, she felt used, was scared, confused and did not know what to do.

“There was no one else in the area where I was abused. My clothes were not torn while I was being raped because I was being held down and I did not struggle enough for them to tear my clothes.

“I did not know what to do after it had happened and I did not report the incident because they had threatened me with a video.


“The rapes occurred only in two different rooms at High-Rise and at Chuka’s (second defendant’s) house. An attempt was also made at a place I know as Waterfront.

“I put up a struggle during the first incident but on other subsequent times, I did not put up a struggle because of the video,” she said.

Edechime, however, disputed claims that the complainant was gang-raped.


“From your evidence before the court, you were the one raping the defendants, enjoying them and you made the court to remand them,” the defence counsel said.

Responding to Edechime’s claims, the complainant said: “I did not know anyone besides Peace (her roommate and the third defendant).

“It is not possible for me to find strangers and be raping them.”

After her evidence, Dr Oyedeji Alagbe of the Mirabel Center (a sexual assault referral centre) testified as a second witness for the prosecution.

Led in evidence by Jide Martins, lead prosecution counsel, Alagbe interpreted the finding of his medical examination on the complainant.

“The said client was a 17-year-old female, she came as self-presentation and I examined her.

“In my report, the client declared verbally that three perpetrators had earlier raped her in January 2017 and subsequently each one of them used to call her on the account that the video of the initial rape incident would be made open to the public.

“She recalled that the last incident was to have occurred in the second week of February 2017. There was no significant injury to the vagina.

“The tags of the hymen is suggestive of repeated penetration into her vagina. Also, my lord, the absence of injury does not negate the client’s account,” he said.

While being cross-examined by Adebisi Ademuwagun, counsel to Omowole (first defendant), Alagbe said that he had no contact with the alleged perpetrators of the crime.

He testified that he did not have the original copy of the report with him in court because he had forwarded it to the management of the Mirabel Center.

“What I was told by the complainant was part of the components of the whole report that made me come to my conclusion.

“The report was not based on supposition but as a result of a skilful, scientific examination process,” Alagbe said.

The complainant says she was lured sometime in January 2017 by Nwankama who was her roommate at High-Rise.

She said she was gang-raped at the location by eight male students and sexually assaulted by Osemeka.

She alleged that the gang-rape and sexual assault at High Rise was videotaped and that she was blackmailed with the video and further gang-raped on some other occasions by the defendants and their accomplices who are now at large.

The alleged offences contravene Sections 137, 138 and 140(1)(a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.

Nigerian Minister for Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi who happens to be formal Governor of Rivers State, Chief security officer , Tony Iwelu, has died, DailyLeakes.

The Police Special Strike Force on Social Miscreants has arrested a suspected Aiye Confraternity leader, Sikiru Samuel, 24, a.k.a Samora, and eight members of the gang in Ikorodu, Lagos, DailyLeakers.com



Lagos police spokesman, Bala Elkana, said in a statement on Sunday that one double barrel gun was recovered from the suspects.


Mr Elkana also said the police commissioner, Hakeem Odumosu, had deployed more officers “to sustain the ongoing onslaught on cultists and other social miscreants in Ikorodu, Imota, Agbowa, Owutu, Ijede, Ipakodo and Owode Onirin.”

Other suspected members of the gang arrested are Adegboyega Ismaila, 19; Sunkanmi Shonubi a.k.a Napel, 19; Adigun Faruq, 18; Rilwan Akinwale, 30; Victor Uju a.k.a Zino, 18; Juwon Idowu a.k.a Lighter, 18; Rasak Adebola a.k.a Bobo, 20; and Kehinde Keshinro, 18.



Elkana alleged that the gang was responsible for series of violent attacks and gang violence in Imota and environs.

“One of such violent attacks happened on 12/02/2020 at about 0830hours which led to the death of one David Nwanga ‘m’ 30 years old of Araro Adamo area,” he said.



The suspects were handed over to the homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Yaba for discreet investigation.

The spokesman said the suspects would be charged to court.

Also, Elkana said that on Friday night a team of police officers from Oke Odo Police Station on patrol along Lagos/Abeokuta Expressway intercepted some hoodlums at Katangowa refuse dump smoking dry weeds suspected to be Indian hemp.

On sighting the police, Elkana said the suspects took to their heels.

Following a hot chase, five suspects were arrested with one double barrel short gun and three live cartridges.



He said the suspects would be prosecuted.

In addition, the spokesman said that on February 8, police officers from Oke Odo Police Station acting on credible intelligence arrested a notorious car snatching suspect, Yusuf Akinradewo.

The 33-year-old allegedly took a Mitsubishi Montero Jeep with registration number GGE 620 AQ to a man named Wasiu Ogunsola of Omolojuwo Street, Dalemo, Sango-ota, Ogun for purchase.



Elkana said that when the buyer demanded for the original papers of the vehicle, the suspect abandoned the vehicle and ran away.

He said police detectives eventually arrested the suspect and recovered another vehicle from him, a Toyota Camry saloon car with registration number AGL 480 EC, belonging to a man named Nurudeen Rasaki of Isiaka Adekoya Street, Igbogbo, Ikorodu.

The police spokesman said the owners of the vehicles have been contacted.


He added that the suspect would be charged to court, while the two recovered vehicles would be handed over to the owners on bond.

Ibrahim Adamu, loser of the love election conducted in Giade Town, Bauchi, has rejected the result of the election, DailyLeakers.

Adamu lost to Yunusa Hamza, 18, for 14-year-old Hajara.

The election was conducted to help Hajara decide whom to choose as she was in love with both men.

Adamu told BBC Pidgin that the election was not free and fair.


He said: “As far as I know, dis election no be free and fair because from di beginning we tok say na office we go use do di election and we go bring at least two police officers to di venue but to my surprise dem carry di election go front of Yunusa house wey show say dem get plans.

Mr Sale added that over 500 teenagers who knew about the issue and the persons involved were allowed to take part in the election.

Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu of the Federal High Court, adjourned the matter on December 6, 2019 to the 11th, 12th and 13th of February 2020 for definite hearing.

Messrs Sowore and Bakare were on December 24, 2019, released from the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).


Prior to this, Justice Inyang Ekwo had on December 17, 2019, fixed December 23, 2019, to hear from the DSS and the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) why Sowore should not be released from custody.

Sowore, through his lawyer, Femi Falana, filed a motion ex-parte before Justice Ekwo to demand for his unconditional release from the DSS detention in pursuance of the release order made by Justice Ojukwu on November 6, 2019.



However, the matter could not be heard and it was later reassigned to Justice Ahmed Mohammed.

But on December 23, 2019, Justice Mohammed recused himself from the suit brought by Sowore before him.

Mohammed, who made his intention known to parties at the mention of the motion ex-parte with suit number: FHC/ABJ/CS/1409/19, said his decision was due to a publication of bribery allegation against him by news platform, Sahara Reporters, owned by Sowore.

Sowore and Bakare were on August 5, 2019, arrested and charged by the DSS with treasonable felony, money laundering, among others.

Allegations of fraud have hit the distribution of N10 billion Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF) micro-grant to women in Katsina State, which draws the ire of Governor Aminu Masari, DailyLeakers.

Governor Aminu Masari raised alarm over the weekend that women were shortchanged by those selected to distribute the monies across the 34 councils of the state. Masari warned that government would not tolerate politicians, civil servants and traditional rulers who siphon monies disbursed as empowerment packages.He was speaking on Saturday evening in Malumfashi Council when Aminu Ibrahim representing the area in the House of Assembly was disbursing N5,000 each to select 1,000 women.

The Aliko Dangote Foundation had on January 23, 2020 flagged-off the distribution of N34 million in micro-grant to 34,000 vulnerable women across the state. Each beneficiary was to get N10,000.

The N34 million is part of the foundation’s nation-wide empowerment of vulnerable women, as N10 billion had been set aside for the purpose.But those assigned to distribute the monies reportedly underpaid the women.

Masari said he got reports that some of the women received N8,000 each, some N6,000, while others got as low as N1,000.

He warned that the government would take necessary action against those found wanting in distributing empowerment packages to the less-privileged.

DailyLeakers gathered that the governor said he was optimistic the empowerment package in Malumfashi would not be siphoned by those assigned to disburse it.

Masari called on the beneficiaries to use the funds to engage in trade and other profitable ventures to improve their living standard.

The Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA)  Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has intercepted $8,065,615 at the airport, DailyLeakers

A driver working with Nigerian Aviation Handling Company, NAHCO, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport has been arrested by men of Murtala Mohammed International Airport Command over the sum of $8,065,615 loaded into a vehicle he was driving.

Speaking to journalists in Lagos on Tuesday, Mr. Hameed Ali, the customs comptroller-general, said the cash was intercepted while it was about to be loaded into an aircraft from the vehicle.

He did not provide details of the aircraft or the name of the driver who was arrested.

But Ali who said the money was wrapped in large brown envelopes with the names of would-be owners said the Customs would eventually unravel the identity of the owners of the abandoned money.

“From the day we seized this money, no bank has come to claim ownership. But our investigation will reveal the mystery behind the owners,” Alli said.

The Minister of Power, Engr. Sale Mamman has assured Nigerians of 18-hour electricity supply daily once the country hits 7,000 megawatts power generation and distribution.

Mamman stated that the country would hit 7,000MW power generation target by the end of 2020.

However, he explained that sufficient electricity for everyone could be elusive until the nation hits 11,000MW power distribution.

“On the part of government, we are trying to improve through the expansion and I said by the end of the year, we will get 7,000 megawatts.

“By the time we get that, we may get 18-hour power supply daily and by the time it is 11,000 megawatts, everybody will have sufficient power,” Daily Trust quoted Mamman as saying recently.

Weighing in on the proposed hike in electricity tariffs, the power minister said that it was in honouring agreements entered into between the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) and the distribution companies during privatisation.

“It’s no longer in the hands of government because 60 per cent is in the hands of the private sector but we regulate the sector.

We just have to ensure it is standardised like other countries. We are inviting investors to come but if we don’t do that (get real tariff), they will not come but I believe we cannot go out of the standard,” the minister said.

His fans were outraged on Twitter, angry that he was not deservingly treated like a star and that the concert was poorly organised. Some also wrote that Wizkid should never have gone to the city.

Blogger JJ Omojuwa weighed in on the fallout of the treatment: “E go tey before Wizkid go back Ilorin again. It’s crazy. I don’t know how Wiz landed in Ilorin on Christmas Day but the host no try. Not at all. That’s an African icon right there,” he wrote.

But there are some who felt the Ilorin episode was exaggerated and instead read an entirely different meaning to the video showing Wizkid sitting on a plastic chair.

The rumour caused a lot of unrest amongst fans of the couple as they demanded that she blog show proof of their allegations rather than spread false news.

Well, Bambam has now reacted to the negative reports about her marriage. In a video shared on Instagram, the heavily pregnant new wife said the post was a deliberate attempt to defame her family’s character as she wondered why anyone will ever joke about something as sensitive as domestic violence.

Bambam also reiterated that her husband, Teddy A, will never lift a finger to hit her no matter how provoked he gets.


She said: “I usually would not come out publicly to address rumours, but this is not just a rumour or random news, but a deliberate attempt at defaming my family’s character and my husband’s reputation.

“How do you joke with something as sensitive as domestic violence? To what end? We’re newlyweds for God’s sake.

“My husband will never lift a finger on me, he will never ever, no matter how angry he is, no matter how we fight or argue which is what normal couples go through. He will never lift a finger to hit me.”
