sharia is killing, bokoharam is killing. what is the difference? oh! one kills in tens while the other kills in thousands.

like I will always say...

THE NORTH NEEDS A REPUBLIC

This does not have to lead us to making divisive and inflammatory statements as the one quoted above.

The Nigerian constitution recognizes different system of laws for different regions in Nigeria.
The sharia is a personal law that applies in the North and only binds those who accept the Islamic faith. The important questions here are- are the convicts muslims? did they commit blasphemy which is punishable by death under such written law?

Another important question would be whether there is such law/ offense under which they are convicted. whether or not such law is good or bad is not a question for the purpose of their conviction.

Remember that the Nigerian constitution is yet to prohibit death sentence and until this is done, it is the duty of the judges to pass such sentence and for the hangman to carry out his duty in such circumstance without sentiments.

Business / Re: Why CBN Extended BVN Registration Deadline To Oct 31 by cprex: 1:39pm On Jul 01, 2015
Built2last:
We just like suffering citizens in this country. what is wrong with CBN creating a platform that you can log in with your account number, answer some basic security questions and fill the BVN form. after which you walk into the bank and do finger capturing but HELL NO. the masses must suffer, thats the evidence that they are working....

once the form is filled online and finger print captured. CBN should be able to synchronise the entire data and save people the stress of going from bank to bank distributing BVN numbers to synchronise with other accounts.

I agree with the above post. thousands of citizens/ bank customers lost man hours queuing just to get this BVN. Citizens must suffer to get anything done in Nigeria- from boarding a bus to your destination, voter registration,registration/ collection of PVC, National ID, drivers' license and sundry issues. Nigerian citizens pass through various levels of hassles and stress.

One wonders why a bank customer must not be able to withdraw his money because he couldn't carry out biometrics which did not form part of the contract between him and the bank at the point of opening the account.

While not down playing the importance of any efforts to preventing fraud, am of the view that customers MUST remain kings and be so treated. Rather than punishing customer for not getting BVN, inducements and motivations should be made available for those that get it done. REMEMBER THAT THIS BVN IS AN EXTRA BURDEN INTRODUCED AFTER THE BANKING CONTRACT IS CONCLUDED.

We demand that Nigerians must be treated as citizens and not as conquered people.
Celebrities / Re: Before And After Pictures Of Majek Fashek by cprex: 3:44pm On Jun 29, 2015
Drugs not withstanding, aging is natural process. Majek rose to the peak of his musical career in 1987 when most of us are not born.
Though we should all shun drug abuse but lets not demonize him. We should rather celebrate his talent with which he made us proud during his time.

Dear Majek, I wish you gracefulness as you age.

Career / Leading With Optimism – 10 Ways To Be Optimistic by cprex: 1:12pm On Jun 08, 2015
On a Monday morning as this I felt the need to keep in focus and I got myself into shape after reading this piece of writing about optimism in Linkeldn. I hope it will impart you as it did me.

Optimistic leadership is not about seeing the world through rose colored glasses. The economic down turn is real and we need to make business decisions based on that reality. But once you have your plan of attack, optimism will inspire a sense of hopefulness and the confidence that is required to take full advantage of the opportunities that do exist.

Optimism or pessimism is not about the reality of the situation, it is conscious choice that has a huge impact on your ability to succeed.

Additionally research has confirmed that those who are able to find an optimistic outlook will not only be more successful, they will also live longer, be healthier and happier.

Below are ten ways to become more optimistic and to energize your organization.

1. Seek positive perspectives and evidence. Unfortunately most of what is being reported today has a pessimistic tone, so to build a more balanced view, you need to look for the positive signs. In an economic downturn, pessimists may be more right but optimists will see more opportunity and actually accomplish more.

2. Practice possibility thinking. We have an amazing ability to construct our inner world and outlook, to use self talk to either build ourselves up, or tear ourselves down. Give yourself permission to reframe your thoughts, to focus on the opportunities not the negative consequences – the 90% that we still have rather than the 10% we have lost. See bad events as setbacks, transitory not permanent and focus on what you can do to energize and build growth.

3. Build a compelling vision that inspires. Take the time to develop a deep sense of mission and purpose, to get really clear about what you want for your organization and the unique value you can provide. In the words of Peter Drucker – “the best way to predict the future is to create it”.

4. Surround yourself with positive people. Optimism is a learned habit, and it is contagious. Seek out people who have a positive outlook – you are only as good as the company you keep. Expand your support network and consider hiring a business coach to support you as you work through this process.

5. Be aware of the “shadow” you cast in your organization. As a leader everything you do impacts those around you. Your mood and your behaviors are watched and interpreted by everyone around you. Be a good role model, maintaining your composure and a positive attitude – that’s authentic.

6. Encourage open dialog. Being positive and open will draw people towards you. Staying focused on understanding and listening is especially important with others who don’t feel so optimistic. Optimism or pessimism is not about the reality of the situation. You need to remain open to fully understand alternative perspectives and be able to lead people to a more positive future.

7. Build resilience through wellness. Optimists are more resilient to stress and enjoy better health. Resilience builds a mental toughness and an ability to bounce back from setbacks. To build your resilience, you need to make purposeful choices to take care of your body, mind, and spirit.

8. Build personal mastery. This begins with an honest assessment of your capabilities and a lifelong commitment to professional development. Mastery will bring confidence and the capacity to succeed, creating more reason for optimism.

9. Believe in the capabilities of your team and organization. One of the most powerful gifts you can give someone is to believe in their potential. Suddenly they are capable of accomplishing so much more, which in turn gives you more to feel optimistic about.

10. Stay focused and track accomplishments. When there is a lot of information and distractions it is very important that you keep your eyes focused on the road ahead, on the things that you can do and control. Celebrating your victories along the way and knowing that although it may be a long road you will get to your destination in the end.

Politics / Re: Igbo In Lagos Present 7-Point Demand To Ambode by cprex: 11:45am On Jun 01, 2015
These demands are not out of place as most of what them are just about what government should provide even without any form of special demand.
For instance, ensuring the safety of lives and property of all residents is sine qua non in governance.

Not even a kobo of the public's fund should be allowed to go unrecovered.
However, I don't think its necessary to restrict their movement. The new administration should work within existing laws of the land and make good use of relevant extradition treaties where necessary.

Buhari has all our supports and God will see him through.

Meiji:
So Buhari, at age 72, is somehow going to oversee the petroleum sector himself and still supervise other ministries and agencies of the government? And you think he won't break down?

This should be moved to jokes section.

I think you should re-examine your stand/ though process and stop making jokes of important national issues.

petroleum product, its availability, management and stamping out the corruption that pervades it is so pivotal to our existence as a nation.
Buhari's age notwithstanding he has manifested requisite physical and mental soundness. Above all his records speaks volume of integrity and experience both of which virtues are are apparently nonexistent amongst today's managers of this important industry.
Nigerians expect so much from his government, so if he considers it most appropriate to handle this sector by himself to achieve result, so be it.
Baba consider handling power if not by yourself, by an experienced, sincere and loyal minister.

It does not matter your opinion, am optimistic of Buhari's incoming government- QED

It seems men are endangered species in hands of their female folks.
When a woman kill a man excuses are made justifying the murder and you may even here that the girl has being discharged of the crime of murder because 'she asked him to leave and he refused'
After-all some folks are already celebrating the 15year old bride that murdered her husband as the 'liberator of the female folk'

Brethren life is still sacrosanct irrespective of whose and the law must take its course.
Politics / Re: Court Drops Murder Charges Against The 15yr-old Child-bride Who Killed Her Hubby by cprex: 4:37pm On May 20, 2015
It does not seem right to celebrate a girl who killed a 35year old young man.
while it is heinous to force a little girl into marriage, it is a despicable act to take the life of a man whose just because he married to you.

knowing what our world have become, I doubt if the girl is a virgin, if she is not, then those celebrating this are simply establishing a new rule 'kill him if he marries you but celebrate him if he makes love to you extra-maritally'

while we agree that murder charge should be dropped, it doesn't seem appropriate to let her go scot-free.

most of these private security guard works like elephant and eat like ant because they are under contract, and when their employer collects a huge amount of money from the client, they will now be paying the security guard who is doing the job peanuts and thats very bad.

This tread is created to generate opinion of people.
if you have any direct experience or have knowledge of persons who are victims of this unjust act you can share it. This may be a veritable opportunity to get relevant person intervene
Crime / Private Security: Provision & Welfare by cprex: 10:48am On May 15, 2015
Apart from the Armed forces, police, NSCDC and other public security agencies, individuals, communities and companies also have powers to provide security though in a limited capacity.
A look around us from our residence, offices, factories, hotels, public and private buildings etc discloses an array of security guards in varying uniforms.
The private security personnel are not authorized to bear arm therefore in situations where force is required, they fall back to public security.
It is unarguable that these men and women contribute to safety and security of person, equipment, national and private assets.

several infrastructure ranging from factory machinery, goods/ merchandise, marine, telecommunication, oil/gas equipment all of which impart our daily lives are mostly guarded by private security personnel across Nigeria.

This tread is intended to create awareness about the condition of operation, condition of service and welfare of such men and women who find themselves in this sector.
This tread has become necessary as most of the men/ women in this sector do not the capacity to champion their cause and as such suffer untold hardship, silently though, in the discharge of their responsibilities and in making ends meet.

Comparative analysis of the above with what is obtainable abroad will also be appreciated.

Thank you

we would welcome opinions, contributions, criticism and suggestions on the best way to make private security guarding more effective and rewarding.

Never again shall the lives of fellow compatriots be wasted senselessly whether in Rivers, Benue, Imo, kano, Taraba, Sokoto, Lagos or any other part of the country.

We MUST re-introduce value and uphold sanctity for human life.

NEVER, NEVER again shall we let love wax cold nor treat human lives with disdain.

Mr President elect, treat similar issues not only in Rivers but in all states where there are evidence of senseless killings
