Politics / Re: Nigerian Woman Slapped By Jamaican Guy In London. by Crownvillar: 9:01pm On May 29, 2015
bigfrancis21:

The guy was clearly obstructing the pathway. Common etiquette demands that when you board a bus, you shouldn't be an obstruction to another passenger. The guy had his legs clearly sticking out into the pathway, and the old woman had a trolley which she could not move through the pathway because the guy's left leg was in the way. She didn't need to say 'please' to have him take out his leg, because the bus is neither his house nor his parlour he was sitting in. The bus belongs to her, as it belongs to him and everyone else on it. Second, clearly seeing that the woman's age and she being old enough to be his grandmother, he could have simply paved way for her to pass. Even when she tried to move through the small space still left for her, he used his hand to obstruct her and pushed her trolley backwards towards her. Ultimately, he should never have laid his hands on her. For no reason.

Nigerians, at least the ones born and raised in Nigeria, are the last people to intimidate in this world. I have noticed that other Africans and blacks often tend to get unnecessarily aggressive when in contact with Nigerians. Some Africans on knowing that you're Nigerian will want to 'prove' that they are smarter than you, this Nigerian. It is as if they acknowledge that Nigerians are a smart indomitable bunch but they don't want to admit it. After the very first day I moved into my new rented house, my African roommates (2 of them) started trying to 'prove' they are smarter than me. I felt like they were trying to intimidate me for no just reason - reverse feeling of feeling intimidated but you want to intimidate the other person instead to hide your insecurity. It was as if they felt threatened by my presence. Then they tried to ridicule Nigeria for no just reason. Many times I come back from work, this particular Congolese is trying to 'update' me about the recent bad news in Nigeria and make jest at me and Nigeria for it. Trust me, I dealt with him accordingly. Ordinary Congolese kwa from small Congo of yesterday? Using statistics, common sense and reasoning, and positives about Nigeria, I belittled him and his ordinary congo, and gave him his level. It was as if he forgot that he was from ordinary Congo. When a Nigerian is talking a Congolese is talking too. Imagine the likeness. Ekwensu ma nkilika akwa. In Igbo, e nyelu m nya oche, nya nodu. Ever since, the guy has calmed down.

From the lady's accent, the guy sensed she is Nigerian and that is what, I believe, caused him to remain adamant not to pave way for her, as if paving way for her would mean she successfully 'intimidated' him. No, he would never accept it. Especially not from a Nigerian.

Some other blacks have often expressed resentment towards Nigerians for no reason. The hate is real.

The guy seemed to be in the wrong from the video uploaded. Having said that, she made a massive blunder by saying something along the lines of "Jamaicans like looking for trouble". That is a sweeping statement which tars all Jamaicans negatively. Just like any other nation on planet earth, there are good and bad Jamaicans. When he refused to let her get past, all she needed to do was tell the driver the situation and ask the bus driver to deal with it. The video clip doesn't show what happened at the very beginning of the incident. All said and done he shouldn't have slapped her. I wonder why we humans make life difficult for each other. We need to practice more of a "give and take" attitude.

Politics / Re: What Foreigners Think About Nigeria's Fuel Crisis by Crownvillar: 10:32am On May 25, 2015

They are so right; nothing works in Africa; nonsense set of leaders; there is nothing that will make Africa better if our leaders continue like this; not be swear but na true

Can we put all the blame on the leaders? After all, the leaders didn't come from outer space. People rise from the general populace to attain and rise to positions of leadership. The leaders are therefore a reflection of the general public. There is a saying "that the people get the government they deserve". Nigeria is a glaring example.

Lets be honest, a great number of everyday Nigerians indulge in one kind of negative behaviour/acts or the other, ranging from the mild, such as jumping queues, profiteering/over invoicing, flouting rules/regulations, cronyism (man know man, paddy-paddy), nepotism (family and relatives given preference instead of ability/performance being the yardstick) to the more severe such as corruption, fraud etc.

I think obj will have the answer to this question. When gej came on board ,he met a system of corruption in the form of oil subsidy payment. Obj never allowed nigerians to know the truth about all these fraudulent payments .it was gej that opened it all to nigerians and wanted to stop it once and for all,but these same oil marketers sponsored the opposition to reject gej option of stopping the payments . Nigerians been gullible as they are swallowed everything negative they were been told about gej decision instead of critically looking at the positive side of it. Nigeria would have passed this stage ,private refineries would have sprang up and the price of fuel would be affordable because everyone will be selling at a competitive price .

@ Onatisi, Your analysis is interesting, but how would you answer the critics who say that diesel is not subsidized but is equally scarce. Agreed, GEJ wanted total subsidy removal but settled for partial removal due to the protests etc. The question remains, what did he achieve with the extra money from the partial removal? We must also remember that crude was selling at it highest price for most of GEJ's tenure i.e. $100+.

Finally, lets not forget that our poor neighbour, namely, Niger republic were able to build a refinery within 3 years during the self-same tenure of GEJ. To add insult to injury, Nigeria the GIANT of Africa sends crude oil to get refined in the Niger republic refinery.

And when knowledgeable people suggest to restructure Nigeria politically in a democracy for equitable political representation to enable the emergence of quality leadership - or return to fiscal federalism - the north refuses fiscal federalism which may reduce its oil earnings, the SW and north refuse political restructuring because they believe it may give people of southsouth and southeast equal rights to the rest of Nigeria.

So the sufferings from leadership failure continue in Nigeria.

I could be wrong, but I thought the various groups that represented the SW at the National Confab over overwhelmingly voted for fiscal federalism. Before the elections, Yinka Odumakin who used to be Buhari's spokesman, stated that he would be voting for/supporting GEJ simply because the SW wants fiscal federalism. He went on to say that GEJ had promised to implement recommendations of the CONFAB if re-elected.

Like I always said, we are our own enemies in this country. Not all blame should be directed to our leaders. Afterall, the leaders are from the populace and not from outer space.

@ Osyxcel, you post above definitely sets you apart, as an objective, deep thinker.

Ribadu, patience is a virtue. Had it been u waited and clinged to APC, u would have been elected a governor under the party. See urself! This is a clear warning to all politicians who jump from one party to another where the grass is greener. Nobody knows tomorrow. See how the pendulum turns now. Kpele, probably plead with Buhari's wife since u are the same state with her to help u beg Buhari to give u a political appointment. Sorry, u hear !!!

@ Chocolatelady...........Buhari's wife is much closer to Ribadu than you think; she is actually Ribadu's sister.
Politics / Re: What Really Happened To Clement Yildar And Dauda Usman? Are They Still Missing? by Crownvillar: 9:46pm On Apr 07, 2015
I guess after lying low for some years they changed their names, relocated to another part of Nigeria and kept their mouths firmly shut.

I was in the same primary school as the son of Dauda Usman, who was quite popular in his own right. As school kids, we used to chant his nickname whenever he walked past "Askarim Baba oh".

I was tempted to ask him of his Dad's whereabouts but decided against it as he was physically big and I was scared he might give me a sound beating! One of the other coup plotters that was caught and executed also had 2 kids in the school.

In this new era Nigeria where GMB has kept saying that if Nigeria does not kill corruption, corruption will kill Nigeria, how can Saraki be made senate president with all the numerous looting charges on him. It will completely rubbish the Buhari administration image as corruption fighting if a senate president Saraki emerges.

You've said it all!!
