Wonders7: Why not use the basic gen or Nepa powered inverter which was even why this thread was created. To tell you the truth...Solar is very expensive |

pointstores: Oga... 100ah Exide Deep Cycle Battery is N95,000 95x2= 190,000 Since it is possible that a solar engineer in Ibadan will do it for him, i left the other stuff like installation cost and "protection inside"...whatever that means. |

Wonders7: Calculating your usage within 6 hours and using Ibadan your area which is usually cloudy with more rainfall than the northen states, your total Watt Hours per day is 2808.00watts. Which means you will need the following: 1000w of Solar panel: N200,000 (est) 45amp Charge Controller (PWT): N60,000... (MPPT: N250,000) 200ah batteries: N190,000 (est) 1.5kva inverter: N95,000 Total: N545,000 |

Wonders7: 150w Mono Solar Panel Charge Controller 100ah Deep Cycle battery (minimum) A 650va UPS can serve or a 1000w inverter. Note: This will give you within a time frame of about 2 hours max in the event of a discharge without intense sunlight or at night. Alternatively, if the power situation in your area is abit favourable or you run a generator, you can get the following: 12v Smart Battery Charger 650va UPS or 1000w inverter 100ah deep cycle battery or higher. Remember: DISCHARGE TIMEFRAME IS ABOUT 1.5 to 2 hours max. If you need to lengthen the time frame, then you need more batteries because your appliances are blasting about 500w |
Science/Technology / Re: How To Create A Locally Made Inverter With Ease by CSNg: 8:22am On Jun 06, 2018 |
moobbie: Personally, I prefer a 650va UPS because it has an inbuilt AV controller which cuts out high current and deals with power surges. This can protect your appliances and of course your battery incase something wrong is happening during the discharge cycle. 1 Like |

zekepio: 30k? Bro you need to "up" your budget a little because 30k can only get you a solar panel and a charge controller based on your specifications. The best 30k can go is to get you an 80w panel, a basic charge controller without LCD display and half the price of a non-battery 680va UPS that is after plenty talk-talk and price haggling. We haven't even talked about deep cycle battery and of course installation costs. 2 Likes |

donpata: Hmmm...thank God you said Deep freezers. Their compressors are quite resistant to surges. Let them use it on LCD televisions that don't have AV protection and let's hear their story. Not that I am totally condemning msv inverters but it is better to be safe than sorry bro. |

Rinsola32: Both can serve. If you go for the first option, you'd get longer viewing time than the second option which will allow you watch the tv for a much shorter period. Alternatively, instead of buying a 500watts inverter for 10k, you could get a bluegate 650va UPS without battery to serve as an inverter since you are in a tight budget. If you are in Abuja, I could set it up for you ***Modified*** Saw from your profile that you are in Lagos...oh well. |

bisiriyu7hamed: It doesn't matter if it is fairly used. So long as it indicates 12.5, you are good to go |
Science/Technology / Re: How To Create A Locally Made Inverter With Ease by CSNg: 8:49pm On Jun 03, 2018 |
bisiriyu7hamed: You can use a voltmeter to test any battery. Just plug the positive and negative wire to the terminals on the battery. A good battery reading is 12.5 since the batteries are 12v batteries. Anything lesser than 12v means that the battery is not new and effective |

odimbannamdi: A modified sine wave inverter does not distribute power output within the range of 220v 230v. There are no power regulations and there could be power surge which will roast your appliances like laptops, tvs, decoders etc. Modified sine wave power devices are preferably used to power heavy duty and resistant appliances such as ACs, heaters etc. Pure Sine Wave is safer as it gives an output of 220v or finer which means your appliances are safe from heavy load and surges. It is just like a scenario where your stabilizer which comes from the factory has its transformer that regulates electricity passing to and from it. Since the transformer was fabricated with it's coils by a manufacturing robot that specialises in crafting it and went through proper testing, you are sure of safety while using your stabilizer. Now in a scenario where the transformer of the stabilizer gets burnt-out and you take it for recoiling to a local electrician, the electrician makes use of copper wires and his apparatus to recoil the transformer...there is no way in this world that the stabilizer will perform optimally as it was built. The refabricated transformer can give a lower output or at worse a higher output which will burn anything that is plugged to it. Just see Pure Sine wave as the "follow come" transformer in your stabilizer while modified as the one fabricated by the local electrician. 2 Likes 1 Share |

econome: Your mere mention of modified sine wave has spoilt everything! A bluegate 650va UPS produces power output akin to pure sine wave so it is safer than the Suoer 1000w inverter. People...if you want to buy an inverter and you hear "MODIFIED SINE WAVE"...RUN FOR YOUR LIFE! |

So Naija policeman dey speak good English like dis? Oh well... It was an accidental transmission of your 7.62mm pellet into your LED tv to stop further transmission of information that is transmitted via the tv screen but you were lucky that your family had already been transmitted into sleep in the bedroom or else there would have been a transmission into glory which would have been translated by people to be a transmitted transmission from your village people. 3 Likes |

zekepio: What is the power rating of your laptop? I wouldn't advice that you go for lumos because it is a "penny wise palm foolish" initiative. What sort of power plan is that where you would have to pay at least N3,600 every 20 days whether you make use of it or not? Secondly, I don't endorse lumos because the capacity it produces is fixed and not expandable or upgradable unlike the normal solar solutions which we offer. (eg: You cannot expand the battery capacity of a lumos inverter incase you need to power more appliances). |
