While I like the concept, all the ladies at the back and even some of the bikers are not wearing protective clothing. Anyone on a power bike should be fully kitted in case of a fall.

Nigerians don't take safety serious, but we need it most!

@princess2011 just 5yrs and you can't wait on the Lord, we have seen couples that have waited for 10yrs, 15yrs, 20yrs and even up to 25yrs. They never gave up. Your own is just mere miscarriage and you are already in despair. If you get that child to adopt and she dies, what do you do?

From me to you, Adoption is not the solution to your problem but you and your husband are. You need repent from your sins, you need to confess Jesus as your lord and Savior, you need him to be in charge of your home. You need to start reading your Bible, you need to sing to him, you need to fast, you need to pray. Miscarriage is a spiritual thing and maybe if you look at your dream life very well, you can understand one or two things.
This is the problem with us Christians. So, every challenge we face is because of our sins? You fanatics hardly understand why Christ came and how he lived.
If you know the pressures that some women get from MIL and others, you wouldn't sound this sanctimonious. I strongly believe believe in prayers and miracles, but we get them out of mercy not because of our righteousness. Stop judging or condemning others!

Following:
it's called sweet yam,u don't keep overnight in the open unless it is for planting. it is cultivated a lot in ukana ofon lga in akwa ibom. when harvested and nt cooked after some hours, it begins to loose it edibility by texture change. we harvested it 3 weeks ago

This is not sweet yam (anem in Ibibio), rather Irish yam. Yes, it is grown in few communities in Akwa Ibom, but not in commercial quantities.

It can stay for many days after harvest without loosing the edibility.
Politics / Re: $400m Abacha Loot: FG To Pay Swiss Bank $79m Commission by Curiouscity(m): 2:44pm On Dec 10, 2016
I don't want to believe these Swiss people. They will do everything to keep that money in their country.

If they can frustrate someone who worked legally in their country from taking out all his earnings, how can I believe they will accept to repatriate all these loots with or without commission. Last time, they said they wanted to use the money to do some developmental projects, now they are talking about commission.

They whites are not as straight forward as they want us to believe.

injuredman:
Thank you all for your responses. @SPG4U, motherless or orphanage home is not an option. My experience has shown that most gifts given to such homes end up being used by the owners or workers at such homes. Till integrity/transparency is enhanced in our society, children in such homes will not benefit much from the generosity of the public due to the greed of the operators or workers there.

@belamour, we don't live where these gifts are and we rarely attend functions back home. Going by the quantity of these gifts, it may take many years to give them out if we rely on giving it at other persons functions.

All the same, we will try something based on your suggestions.

How far with these excess gifts of yours? What is the location? We can buy them off at 50% of the market value.

This is why we Africans/Nigerians should embrace indepth research culture. The medical researchers can study this claim (s) while the psychological people can do same independently.

IMO, the blood does not have any characteristic traits. It could all be psychological.

Agriculture / Value Addition For Agric Produce by Curiouscity(m): 12:02pm On Sep 06, 2016
My people, I am happy the way many of us the youths are taking interest in farming. Many of us on this forum are into different crops and animals, and are successful. It is heart warming! !

Despite these successes, we can do better. Many of us have had to sell at very poor prices, even suffer lost due to glut or over supply of the crops or produce. Value addition or processing can increase market value, increase shelf life, and even make our products go beyond the region of production. Example, while fresh catfish from Lagos can hardly reach Abuja except via cool room, dried catfish will reach beyond the shores of naija and last longer.

We have harvest season for most of our crops, what value can we add to these produce in our small way to prolong their shelf life? Crops like tomato, corn (fresh), cucumbers, bananas, plantain, animal products like milk and many others. Every one of us cannot be farmers, some may be at the value addition end. Can we suggest any ideas of processing any of our farm produce to add value?

I am no expert, it is a general thread for everyone to contribute!!

Where are all the snails gurus in the house? Note that one essential ingredient for farming is having a market for your product(s). So I need this info to help create the market (local and international) for our snails.

@pavore9, any ideas?
Agriculture / How Much Is Snail In Your Farm/area by Curiouscity(m): 7:16am On Aug 29, 2016
Hello everyone, I need an urgent info.

How much is snail meat per Kg in your farm(for snail famers) or your city if you are a buyer? I mean only the meat oo, after the shell has been removed. If I get this info soonest, I hope the snail farming business in Nigeria will change for the better.

Thank you in advance

I am loving my state:

Obong Victor Attah = in his tenure fought for an increase in revenue and got 13% derivation and also prepared the ground for infrastructure take off

Obong Godswill Akpabio= implemented massive infrastructures and create the foundation for an industrial take off in the state.

Emmanuel Udom: an astute banker is already implementing the industrialization of the state with inner roads in many local government and villages.

Kudos and congrats to all AkwaIbomites in particular and Nigeria in general that will work there and eat the said rice grin

I like your unbiased assertion. All the governors since 1999 have worked hard to place AKS on the map of positive things.

Yes you need to have an account with bank you're receiving MoneyGram/Western Union or you get an account holder of the bank to reference you.

Thank you.

What is the essence of such account? I thought the emphasis should be on proper identification. Is our International passport or driver's license not able to properly identify someone?
Why is it the cooperate headquarters of the bank denied such policy being in place?
Business / Does One Need Bank Account To Collect Moneygram? by Curiouscity(m): 2:47pm On Aug 12, 2016
Money was sent to my little brother for his final year project via moneygram. He went to the bank to cash it. His bank had network issues, he had to go to First Bank. He was told that there is no way to get the money without opening account with them. All pleadings fell on deaf ears.
I can recall that in recent past, I have received money transfers with just my ID card without the need for a bank account with that branch. Is this a new policy or just a banking strategy by the branch? Is this peculiar to First Bank or is it CBN directives?

Ok thanks alot and point noted. But aside canning it, are there no other alternatives for commercial purpose? If not, is it possible to get cans easily and not have to have a factory per say?

Due to the water content, canning is most suitable. Bottling is another way I am thinking, but you have to research on that. Any method that will keep off oxygen from reacting with it will be fine. Sometimes, you just have to experiment things before having a breakthrough.

Are you afraid of having a factory?

Thanks alot and very useful information. I had read some articles and it blends with what you have said as well which I really appreciate.

Please can this extract be stored in such a way that it doesn't get spoilt easily? I will love to know the implications of storing it in a freezer or fridge.

Yes, if there is constant power, you can store it in the fridge or freezer. If left in the open, it will go rancid (spoil) with time due to oxidation. Canning it is the best, if you are considering commercial production.
Agriculture / Re: Please I Need Knowledgeable People In This Matter by Curiouscity(m): 8:36am On Aug 01, 2016
The oil is obtained by pressing the hot pulp after macerating. It can also be obtained by boiling the extracts (the one used for bangalore soup). So, how is the extract made? After maceration, the pulp is washed in lukewarm water and filtered, then heated to rolling boil to get the oil or concentrated at low heat to get the thick extract for bang soup. Alternatively, during the washing of the pulp, small amount of water can be used to maintain the thickness of the extract without the need to concentrate.

I hope this helps!

Kingspin:
Please house, there is this my friend who from time to time complains about unknown sickness and each time he went for a checkup the result will be negative meaning, he has no sickness inside his body, but he feels he is not ok, this is not the first time. Imagine this kind of situation, where you're feeling ill only for the lab report to show nothing is wrong with you on many occasions. The problem is he is not feeling good and it more sad this my friend started noticing this unhealthy condition of his body since he left Nigeria 2years ago. So he is passing through this sad experience abroad. He is sick right now but don't know the sickness.
After he shared his experience with me, I decided to extend it to fellow NLers for help.

Is he in a European/American country? Apparently, those guys are configured to think that there are only certain sicknesses that affect Africans. Once some of them test for HIV, TB or Hepatitis without finding anything, they don't bother to investigate further. I have friends in Canada and Germany currently going through this medical racism.

Tell your friend to increase his intake of vitamin D. The sun in these western countries hardly produce enough vitamin D naturally, especially for our black skin. He could try some natural products like cinnamon, moringa or anything that works for him.

It can be really frustrating

Creamish:

Exactly. She needs to read the Billings Method. I hope she understands her body well. Getting female kids is not solely her fault so she needs to cheer up.

I agree that Billing method will help them increase the chances of having a male child. But getting a male or female child is solely a man's fault. He carries the Y chromosomes.

When we tried to conceived, I never left anything to chances, I made sure my wife followed the Billing's method to the letter. But why did I care? Because of our silly culture of placing male children above female. I believe both should be given equality especially during inheritance procedures.

I think both male and female should have right of inheritance to the parents properties. If this is done, less pressure to get male children.
