When people speak out about the fraud, hypocrisy and the many wrong doings in the church, you all begin to label them as 'children of the devil' when in actual sense, many of your G.O's and Pastors are criminals and thieves on the pulpits.

Which church? Your church?

Only busybodies and dark minds obsess over a "fraud, hypocrisy... in the church" in which they have no reasonable stake or say. The church members are happy and joyful with their pastors and GOs.

it's always online nonentities calling out churches when they have no commitment to any.

Anyone that those not agree with your system has become an enemy.
Anyway, I would rather be an enemy of a man made doctrine than an enemy of God.

If you think other churches are upholding man-made doctrine, go and open a church where you uphold your own divine doctrine na.

Watch. One. Two. Three. The enemies of the church coming in again to spew their hatred. Nothing the church does ever makes sense to them.

They have nothing to do with church, but they always have a hate to spew. Why? They're children of darkness!

You people just don't get tired of this agenda against church, pastors, GOs. It always come in one indirect for or another.

First, church is not an industry and pastoring is not a job. It's not something you do to earn. Secondly, for pastors collecting salaries, you don't know what the arrangement is with the church. I have never seen pastors carrying placard protesting minimum wage.

Why do you love taking panadol for another man's headache? And it's not like you care about the church or pastors...

But these Nigerian soldiers overrate themselves, honestly.

There's this air of superiority with them, and its delusional.

They seem to forget that the uniform, the respect, and all has nothing to do with them but the federal authority. They seem ignorant that this authority is for stewardship of the people and not this pseudo "superman" feeling.

Well, reality dawns on them individually at one point or another.

Even Islam that has turned Nigeria to golgotha via boko haram, fulani herdsmen and NW banditry are not hated by Nigerians like Christianity.

Neither you nor the OP is wrong. You could have thanked him for trying to pass a good message, then make what he said better and more correct.

He wasn't wrong in drawing the conclusion that being rich makes it harder to get into the kingdom of heaven. He, however, made the mistake of confusing correlation with causation.
Like you rightly said, it's not being rich that makes heaven difficult, it's what comes with being rich.

Don't make assumption of people's intentions. Give them the benefit of doubt. If he is so ignorant, then your role is to correct them with kindness.

And God knows best

I should have been milder with my words I guess. But I assure you that some actually twist Bible to suit an agenda.

The key lesson in that Biblical portion is that even someone who isn't rich can put their trust in other things. The Bible speaks of those who trust in men. Some trust in evil powers. Some trust in their own strength.

The lesson there, I believe, isn't confined to financial or material riches, but in trusting in anything and letting it take the place of God.

I don't know where you see those that "take church money" to buy jet. But those ministers I know with jet in Nigeria, the church bought it as an organisation. And it's for church ministry work.

Guess what, those whose monies are involved in the purchase are not complaining.

Have you taken time to follow the Confession of Benny Hinn for the past few years and one recently? If you have to use every gimmick(exact word of Benny Hinn) to extract money from believers, are you not trusting in money rather that God? Some of these pastors pay hugely to these foreign pastors just to tap there anounting, Pay for there hotel rooms not to be clean in order to tap there grace. Is that not the gospel of Simon Mongus(money for anointing)? Benny Hinn coursin said they needed those money to fund their expensive life style. A pastor in Nigeria said he was denied from seeing benny hinn in his hotel, but when he mentioned the money he brought(about $700,000), they gave him express permission. Most of these pastors in Nigera are using Pastor Hinn style or sometimes they invite him to do it for them and they split the spoil. I pray that they will all come to the knowledge of the Truth.

One way to serve God is not to build doctrine on men's experiences or "confessions." Benny Hinn's story is not God's Word. So you can't build on it as doctrine.

Now, the Bible teaches against greed, deceit, and covetousness. But the Bible doesn't say having money legitimately (without greed, deceit, and covetousness) is bad. I believe that should do.

None of the Bible characters you mentioned are pastors

Compare them to Paul, Timothy, Stephen and others

And the op didn't say they will not, but "Hard" to make heaven, which is a fact

Like I said, that's not what the Bible teaches.

Bible teaches salvation by faith. The man who trusts in His riches would find it hard to find faith. Not the one who trusts in God.

The problem is not money. But the trust in it. It's the same way even someone who isn't rich trusts in some other system or another instead of God. That's the message. To trust God and not things. Not about having or not having riches.

That portion of scripture you quoted doesn't prove that God has a persona vendetta with wealthy people. Through scriptures, God had wealthy men.

Abraham, His friend, was wealthy.
Jacob was wealthy.
Joseph was wealthy.
David was wealthy.
Solomon was wealthy.
Job was wealthy.
Many many of God's people in the Old Testament were wealthy.

In the new testament, Joseph of Arimathea was wealthy.
Erastus was wealthy.
Barnabas was wealthy.
Many in the early church were rich!

Abusing a Bible verse to push a silly narrative would not suffice.

You can't build a doctrine on just one single passage, more so one single phrase which is misunderstood...

Mark 10:17-25
[17]And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?
[18]And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.
[19]Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother.
[20]And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth.
[21]Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.
[22]And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions.
[23]And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!
[24] And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that TRUST IN RICHES to enter into the kingdom of God!
[25]It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

Apparently, the clarification here is what Mark supplies us. Jesus wasn't talking about the average rich man anywhere, but a rich man that trusts in His riches instead of trusting in God.

And that is a no-brainer. To trust in riches is to not trust in God. The Epistles also echo the same thought to rich Christians.

1 Timothy 6:17-18
[17]Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;
[18]That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;

God is not against wealth. Wealth is a useful tool for His work on earth OBVIOUSLY. What is against God is to allow money to take God's place. That's what Jesus and His Apostles addressed.

shelve the OP's Bible confusion

I rather get robbed checking on an abandoned crying baby than to ignore one thinking it's a robbery attempt. I don't care what anyone says, I will not allow thieves or terrorists stop me from having compassion towards another human being. But thanks for the heads up.

Well, context matters. Having a baby suddenly cry in front of your gate AT MIDNIGHT is suspicious. Even if it's not armed robbery, something will feel baity about it.

Nothing is wrong with checking on the baby too. But, if you must, be smarter than the lurking aggressor. Else, you and the baby may both be unsafe.

You just ended up using those verses to further expose yourself:

1. Your first example Jesus did not ask(collect), they chose to minister(serve) him with their substance, they could have serve in any other way they choose.

They chose to serve him with their money abi. Who taught them abeg? cheesy Did Jesus teach giving? Did He teach His disciples to give?

Yiu shouldn't confuse yourself, my friend. Shelve your emotions. These folks followed Jesus. They gave to Him. He collected. It takes a collection for giving to happen. Shebi?

2. The purse was originally meant for the poor, Judas was even suspected to have ulterior motive, Jesus knew very well you cannot go about speaking grammar without giving to the poor, so the purse was there for the poor. Please recall they have a financier Luke and not the poor people they are ministering to.

You are just using your own sense to rationalize things here. A financier Luke where abeg??

3. here you quoted the bible and maliciously decided to give it your own meaning, the exact things Nigerian pastors do always. that verse clearly said for the feast and needy. You refuse to accept it, you said its for pastors because the money is much, I assume you were with Judas then.

I see you have a grouse with "Nigerian pastors." It makes sense why you're trying to cook out a point to suit you.

You have no scriptural basis. Yet you skip the contexts of the ones I posted here. No Biblical basis for Jesus giving money to the poor. See his theology on that:

John 12:4-8
[4]Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, which should betray him,
[5]Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?
[6]This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.
[7]Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this.
[8]For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always.

Jesus taught from place to place with twelve grown men. They ate. They bathed. They changed clothes. But they weren't working. They apparently needed money for their ministry.

That was what that giving of those who gave to Him is for. It is a Biblical order right from the old testament. The Priests who served solely in spiritual things lived by the givings of the congregation of Israel. That was the reasoning behind this:

1 Corinthians 9:13
[13]Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar?

4. Most of you pastors say God called you to work, God should pay you as his labourer or are you saying God is not faithful enough? The labourer the writer is refering to here is not just preachers, they include cleaners, masons, transporters etc. including those outside the church. But in Nigerian churches is only the GOs that swallow the money and still have the audacity to brag for being rich, right in front of those who donated the funds.

grin You are trying too hard to rewrite the Bible. And it's funny, but sad. It's funny because, you want your bias to be so true. It's sad because you're blinding your mind to the truth because if your aversion for "Nigerian pastors "

The labourer in 1Tim 5:18 are "elders" (church leaders) that "rule well" (lead church well). See verse 17. He says they deserve "double honour" (which is in reference to their wages). I'm sorry. But your bias or aversion doesn't change what's written.

It's similar to what you find in

Galatians 6:6
[6]Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things.

You could check other versions for clarity. It teaches giving to your pastor (the one that pastors you or teaches you God's word). Share all good things with them (money and material things inclusive).

That's why Paul asks:

1 Corinthians 9:11
[11]If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things?

Isn't this so clear, my friend? grin

Giving to your pastor isn't to enrich them or cheat yourself. It's to support the work they do. A church does well and the gospel prospers when we support the men God uses to lead the work. That's our part in the gospel.

Finally you repeated the same thing, read a bible verse then choose to maliciously interpret to suit you. God go punish those who add or remove from his word. Say Amen! if this is scriptural.

Amen.

I don't add to the Bible. Ask questions and I'll show you the context. If you may, read through the contexts of all I have shown you, you'd see that the message in them is clear.

Start by erasing your aversion for "pastors." You can't hate "Nigerian pastors" because you don't agree with some (or all). Start by knowing thats some of those "Nigerian pastors" are God sent.
