Hi ptoall1000, welcome to the group.
That was the idea before the thread was created. It was supposed to be a live video conference chat thingy but most people had issues with connection. The first few video sessions I conducted was a bit effy. And yes, I do use Google Hangout for every of the sessions. But, if anyone is up and ready for a live session anytime soon, please let me know. We could plan for one.
ptoall1000:

I think it is better to have a Skype study group or any other video conferencing app. So we can demonstrate and learn better. This platform is just a forum, it can't replace study group.

I'm not even dreaming about it. I always tip my hat to the ones that know what they do in Security. It's kind of a broad field.
kode12:

Yes oh,thats why I said don't just bother with security if you're not going all the way. CCNP RnS security is tough enough, anyone with good grounding can implement adequate security protocols

Oh that was a mistake ? AH I was surprised. I responded since it was me you mentioned and not baba11. I actually made my initial post as a joke because believe me that security no be my thing at all. To go the security route, you must know everything. From Wireless to Voice to Data, everything, you're securing all forms of data flow so you've gotta be a jack of all trade plus a little ethical hacking too. Eh that thing e get as e be.

Go on, Fulaman198, I'm a follower now smiley

I got my LPIC-1 OCG a couple days ago. I'm still figuring a way to integrate Linux study time with my day-to-day stuff. That being said, the book is a great deal.

I'm sorry, but, wasn't this your question ?
baba11:

OK bro....can I get materials from you on ccna rns 200-120 Todd lammle sybex series cool
I learnt that 640-802 composite exams has been retired! How true is this cool
Cc:fulaman198
I've given the answer to the second question twice now. IT HAS BEEN RETIRED AND REPLACED WITH 200-120. 200-120 is new the composite and 640-802 is old. In fact, the last time I heard that was in 2013.
The 640-802 has been now replaced with the following exams:
200-120 CCNA Composite
100-101 ICND1
200-101 ICND2

And for prepatory materials, get the Todd Lammle book. It's not that expensive and it's good enough to study, understand and nail the exam.

All the best.

baba11:

I'm referring to the composite 200-120 type...Can I count on you for preparatory materials cool
Career / Re: Cisco STUDY GROUP (online) by DanIndia(m): 4:35pm On Oct 09, 2015
Yes, it is outdated. Been 2 years now. The new composite is 200-120. Sorry I wrote 200-101 earlier.
And somehow I didn't totally get your initial post. You asked for books on CCNA RnS 200-120 and then talked about 640-802. The 200-120 now replaces the old 640. Cisco retired the terms with 640 2 years ago and now it's CCNA - 200 and CCNP - 300.
Just google CCNA v2.0 or CCNAX

baba11:

I mean composite exams not individual icnd 1 or 2 type cool

I just don't understand if you expect to make sense out of your comment. Noone is doing skill knowledge competition. It's thread where if people know something, they share. I just stated I wasn't a big fan so I didn't know what to say about security. So which one be this your no be you ask question. If you don't have anything to say, why not refrain from using your keyboard ? Na must make you comment?

Thanks bro. You are studying at which institution? Me sef wan enjoy Italian govt scholarship.

OH OK. Thank you for being honest. There are jobs anywhere, no matter how tight the economy may seem to be. I'm someone who believes there is always something out there for everyone. Although, you'll hear the opposite from many people about jobs being few in Italy because of the recent economy crisis and that the Italian language does ease the process.
Soyedele1:

Lol. Yes I will surely cross over but it will be after my studies.

US visa is 31200 from Nigeria. I will prefer taking that risk from Nigeria than spending all those money to Italy just to cross over. If I'm not serious about. Italy, I won't be writing ielts. I'm a genuine applicant.

Polito doesn't av a specific CGPA but polimi is a minimum of 3.0. They said they won't even consider my application if I have less than 3.00. So polimi is out of it for now.

Reason I asked about employment is that I need to know how to survive cos I am on a budget.
Travel / Re: Italian Student Visa-help! by DanIndia(m): 10:45am On Oct 09, 2015
Bro, these your questions em e get as e be o. You never even get admission but you dey ask whether chances dey to travel to US or UK as a tourist. Are you sure you're not looking to come to Italy just as a portal of entry to those countries? Nonetheless, I believe it is possible to travel to those countries from anywhere. It's left for the immigration officer whether or not they see you fit for a tourist.

And yes, it's possible to work in Italy during the holidays. What's Polito cutoff CGPA ? Polimi is very keen on marks you've gained in the previous degrees.
Soyedele1:

Im in Engineering related field. Let ne give you an example. I applied to polito last year (mechanical engineering). The ielts required was 5.5 or a letter from my school that I was taught with English language which I got. I wasn't offered admission and when I contacted polito, they sau they didn't see the sentence "You were taught in English Language".

I also applied to free uni in Bozen and my application was accepted. Later I was told that they need a valid language certificate that the one I submitted is not acceptable.

This made me decide to write ielts just to boost my chances of admission though I have a friend that got admission without ielts.

Im eyeing polito for mechanical, unibo, padova, brescia n others for environmental engineering.

As for polonium, they require 3/5 cgpa as d minimum but I'm slightly below 3.00 cgpa.

I have questions for you

Which school are you in italy?
As a legal student in italy, is it possible to work in other countries in europe during the holiday?
Can a student travel to UK OR USA for maybe as a tourist without having home ties to italy except being a legal student there?

Thanks a lot .

A UNI in Italy is currently admitting but if I remember correctly, you're not in the Engineering field ? And moreover, you don't really need IELTS for Italy admissions.

OH My! That must have been a pain. I've never had such issues with Cat5 cables. I find them very dependable but then I agree quality does matter.
kode12:
For Networking newbies I have to tell y'all something,I know theoretically it's said that Cat5e cable has maximum length of 100m but guys believe me when I say you shouldn't ever try running the cat5 cables in the market for anything more than 10m. I was called in to troubleshoot a network failure and for a very long time I didn't realize the cabling was the problem as it was in conduit and was actually working. Only that after a few hours the connection just goes dead. We tested the network cable end to end andhad consistent readings and the latency wasn't a problem it took a whole day to realizd that just one cable between a server and switch was actually a very inferior cat5 cable and as such was losing connectivity intermittently. So guys be careful and get very high quality if you're using cat5 or preferably just use cat6 cables and mind the diameter of the wire core because the larger the diameter the better connection.

Must have been a rough waiting period. Looking forward to a Visa Approval post.

All the best.
Eke40seven:
When the late educationists, Tai Solarin, said, "may your road be rough", I guess he was referring to my visa application so far. Here is the update, (I think you all deserve to know). My friend went back to the bank in the morning to know why my confirmation was not sent yet, after doing what was requested and apparently the woman he met was confused as to the reason why, so she just wrote out some info and faxed to the HQ, but when I was called to confirm if the email address was correct I wasn't with my phone so the guy left the bank he made it known to me, what had been done. Then, later in the day, my brother and friend Obiwannn stormed back to a branch close to him, after all protocols, it was realised that the mail was sent on Tuesday to a wrong email! Village witches at work, after frustrating the other efforts.Just after leaving the bank, behold! The confirmation letter dropped live and direct. I didn't even know the reason why they didn't block the initial amount. As I had something around, 8100 or so before the 15 euros was added on Friday. You see village witches? But God strong pass them.

Its not always cool to be calm all the time (no puns intended) if not for the initial push by my very dear babe o, na there I for dey dey sing "all is well".
I thank you all for your prayers. Into my 14th week of waiting after interview, 8 weeks space in between the time of booking, the long season film will soon end and it will end in praise. Its not all bad though, the wealth of knowledge I have gathered this period will be of great use later in the future. Like spiderman would say, " with great power comes great responsibility.
Please, pray for my friend though, he has found no solution yet, I have told him to come back to Nairaland and mobilize helpers.

Oh yes I know that. I wasn't aware of Linux never expiring though. I am planning to go the CompTIA route, they merged the certs with LPI just last year or maybe the year before (not very sure)
Fulaman198:

You are right, they basically tell potential employers that you have in-depth experience with one flavour of Linux (Red Hat). That isn't to say that if you are a RHCSA/RHCE that you aren't adept at other flavours of Linux (like Debian based versions of Linux). Most potential Employers are looking for someone who is Neutral in regards to the various flavours of Linux out there.

In regards to doing LPIC-1, I advise you do CompTIA Linux+ instead (it's the same exam). If you do the Linux+, you also get the LPIC-1 certification and SUSE certification. Linux+ never expires whereas you have to renew LPIC-1 every 5 years. Better to do Linux+ because you get 3 certs if you pass. Not the case with the LPIC-1.

Listening is the easiest section in IELTS. You just need to practice and understand the accent - that's it. Watch British and Australian movies often to help get you familiar with the sounds. Their G and J sound no different at all but if you hear them say it regularly, you'll catch it. Just listen to practice audio clips from IELTS 1-10 and you'll be ready to ace the exam.

Your result is really impressive, how can i get similar score in Listening?

RHCE and RHCSA are flavor dependent. Their commands (RH) are some what different from others. I'll be doing LPIC-1 only as I am not going in depth. You might not even really need a cert. Just the knowledge will do.
Fulaman198:

You are correct, they are interrelated, and I feel that if you have a good knowledge base of Linux (at least the LPIC-1/Linux+ level). Then you will be fine for the most part. Now if you are a Linux System Admin, you will need at least an LPIC-2 or an RHCE. LPIC-1/Linux+ = RHCSA.

Well, networking has got to do with server and system administration. I think you should give it a shot. It's interesting. I'm not Linux Certified yet but it's in the plans yet.
Fulaman198:

I'm not Linux certified because most of what I do is networking. Though I will consider it if I ever go down the path of Linux Server Administration. I learned a lot about writing scripts with Bash in the university. I love Linux and will definitely consider the cert if my company needs it.
