What is PTA ? Understand that that could mean a lot of things. It would be more helpful if you spell out the words in full. And I hope you're not talking about BTA - Basic Traveling Allowance.
ogagaejay:

Please guys, I need information on PTA,
I Understand banks no longer accept foreign currency deposits in local branches. How do one get PTA, which bank offer the best rate and how long before you get it?

Kelvinpam, you don't pass through immigration with your bags. You check them in at the Airline Desk.
Unless you're talking about hand luggage which again doesn't have anything to do with immigration. Their business is only to deal with your passport and visa. Anything else is completely UNimmigrationAL smiley
Kelvinpam:

Thank GOD for safe journey dear.
plz enlignten us how u passed tru immigrations with urs bags and also how u made good use of d 10hrs stop time @ istanbul for those of us that might want to use turkish airline..

Either one of them is VALID. Provided you're still in the 2 year validity time frame.

Hi Guys,

Just a quick question. I had an overall score of 7.5 the first time I sat for the IELTS in bid to increase my CRS. I took the test again and unfortunately my points dropped to 7. Is my first IELTS still valid or must I use the most recent result which will further drop my CRS? sad sad

Thanks.

LABBING is what you do on Packet Tracer or any other simulators. Just do more of what you currently do. That is practice more.
baba11:

How do I go about LABBING? shocked

Just one word - LABBING.

I intend doing ccna next year and I may not be able to be in your group due to network ish here.I already know I can use packet tracer, bosom netsim,gns3 et all as my simulators.

What do I need to read up or how am I going to thread this path in order to come out atop not only in certificate but practical wise shocked

What other provinces are those ? I mean the ones that do not require your presence or relatives in Canada.
zandora:

That's not true. A foreign worker can also be nominated but some provinces ask that the worker has ties to the province either via relatives or friends, some others ask that the worker has a specific job the province lacks and so on.
Travel / Re: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by DanIndia(m): 2:47am On Sep 19, 2015
Hi folks,

I just read through the forum and I noticed an individual with a Provincial Nominee or Job Offer may stand out pretty well in the pool. However, when I surfed through provincial website, I found that provinces only nominate workers who are already in Canada on a TRV. Does this mean that a Foreign worker cannot be nominated ?
Career / Re: Cisco STUDY GROUP (online) by DanIndia(m): 2:26am On Sep 19, 2015
Awesome. Is it free ? Now that you've mentioned Packet Tracer 6.2, could one use it to lab for CCNP switch et all ?
Fulaman198:

BOSON netsim is very good, and (this may be unimportant to you) scales well at high-resolution monitors (unlike Packet Tracer). If you can't afford live equipment, Boson and Packet Tracer are definitely the way to go.
Career / Re: Cisco STUDY GROUP (online) by DanIndia(m): 9:05pm On Sep 18, 2015
I've always preferred GNS3 over any other simulators. It gives the real feel of a live lab environment. I haven't tried BOSON netsim though
Fulaman198:

Indeed, Cisco keeps improving Packet Tracer, it's even usable now for CCNA security. I still prefer Boson NetSim and GNS3 for certain things though (especially GNS3 because it's running the latest iteration of Cisco iOS on all its devices).

dupyshoo, you're just awesome. Just thought I'd add a few more websites. ieltsliz.com is a blog and she has videos on youtube. ANd so is this channel on Youtube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCKV1foPYirDHpaYrRqUF5XQ
dupyshoo:
You don't have to order the book. RoadtoIELTS is very good. You will get access to it after payment to British Council. Also, there are loads of online resources such as: http://www.ieltsbuddy.com/, http://www.ielts-exam.net/practice_tests/ and Youtube that you can utilise as well.

I did not say you should not exceed the words limit. My advise is that you should not waste time writing 250 words when you are required to write only 150 words. The time spent on writing more words than needed could be utilised to ensure your letter and essay are well written and that there are no spelling errors. Please spend quality time to write some letters and essays before the exam as it will help a lot.

I'm with you on this. I actually stated in the beginning that we once had this argument and didn't turn out really well. I also mentioned that the ranking I meant wasn't an overall but based on subject fields. More so, grades are what matters mostly.

You stated something earlier and are now mentioning something entirely different. You say you nor be academia but you dey your third semester. You're here for economic reasons so ranking is bullshit for you and will always be. I don't see how I don't want you to achieve your goal.
I am just trying to say an individual who understands and appreciates the value of education would never utter such statement.

Hahaha see pastor! Stop pretending and be real for once. tongue tongue tongue
I will only celebrate you and clap for you, if after your studies you return back to Nigeria.

For your information, just because I said i migrated to Germany for economic reasons doesn't mean I won't achieve my goal. This Oct will be my 3rd semester so eat your words angry angry

I totally agree with you. And when I meant ranking - I didn't mean overall ranking. There are different rankings. I could attend a school that is not even in the Top 200 but #1 in my subject field. I'm talking about these sort of rankings
aibee01:

yea ranking do matter..,but let's have it in mind that some universities has their field of specialization which they are renowned for. even if such university isn't rank high overall........and also the small sample size which most of the ranking organization uses has highly been criticised......

In October 2012, the university of hamburg chair decided not to participate in national or international rankings in the foreseable future, stating the
administrative expenditures needed as a main reason. The small
sample size used by many rankings and their methodology have also
been criticised.

OH man. You're a very helpful fellow. Thanks for your time. Her degree is for five years and I'll keep in touch just in case. Thanks
dupyshoo:
If she writes IELTS, the equivalent points will be added to your total score. For her to get point for her qualification, it will have to be evaluated by WES. 10 points will be added if her ECA is evaluated as Master's equivalent.

I see, and what if she writes the IELTS and is a degree holder. Her Bachelors degree is a different one as she is to be licensed in the near future. Would be consider equal to the masters degree/professional degree on the CRS page ?
dupyshoo:
If you are married, about 30 points (20 for IELTS abd 10 for education) are deducted from your score. Your spouse is expected to contribute the 30 points to your CRS score.

Travel / Re: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by DanIndia(m): 7:42pm On Sep 17, 2015
RANKING does matter A LOT, no matter where. We've had this argument once and it didn't turn out so well.

number13:

Surprise, surprise. And some 'authorities' said rankings didn't matter in Germany.
Travel / Re: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by DanIndia(m): 7:39pm On Sep 17, 2015
That's something I find very surprising. Initially, when I just used my details I was at 461. I added my spouse's info and I got 457. It was a bit funny as I was hoping it would increase. Perhaps, I'm not doing something right. You already got ITA? How's the prccess going so far ?
dupyshoo:
Hiyah,

I can't really say how you can improve your score unless I know the breakdown of your score. However a score of 453 is not bad as the lowest cut off ever was 451. My CRS score was initially 454 before it jumped to 472 after adding spouse' IELTS. I actually got my first ITA with that score. So my advise is to enter the pool and wait for the next 2-3 draws to get ITA.

COOL stuff. And you have access to like all the stuffs available on INE ? If you're free now, let's do a run through on SKYPE. SHow me what you've got cheesy

For the INE all Access pass, I subscribed for the one month plan.....you can get the cost of that from INE's website...not much

SWITCH CP on PT, really ? There are so many options you won't find on PT. Most especially VLAN related.
Fulaman198:

If you are doing CCNP switch, Packet Tracer 6.2 should suffice. There are a few things you can't do in route though for Packet Tracer.

What I find most useful is the Boson Net Simulator for CCNP if you are serious
Career / Re: Cisco STUDY GROUP (online) by DanIndia(m): 6:56pm On Sep 17, 2015
This is already a study group. The most you can do is contribute and not asking people to follow your group. If you read the thread properly, it's a study group on where people share stuffs. If you've got anything to share, you can go ahead and share.

That being said, I don't really think you can lab CCNA collab effectively (I'm not saying it's impossible) but you'll have to configure a lot. Kudos on having set that up. How's it working for you ?
And the INE All Access Pass - how much did you get that for ?
incrediblestev:
I am currently doing collaboration, I am already CCNA collaboration certified and training for my CCNP level, currently reading and labbing CVoice, one of the five exams for CCNP Collaboration. Anyone interest in collaboration group studies on skype can can join me, I have a new study group i created some few days ago..... trust me, there is a lot we can learn from each other plus I currently have INE All Access Pass and plenty materials as well....Just looking for guys with the same zeal and interest to ginger me.....iron sharpeneth iron....I could also show you guys how we can create a VOIP network on GNS3 using CME. my skype group name is incrediblestev
Travel / Re: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by DanIndia(m): 6:33pm On Sep 17, 2015
Yes, you have and that is so comprehensive. However, I do a self assessment on the website and the score I got was around 453. What other addons would on need to to get to 459 or higher ?
dupyshoo:
Hiyah,

Once you have your IELTS and ECA, you will create a profile in the pool. After the creation of the profile, you will be given a CRS score out of a score of 1200. Draws are done about twice a month with a cut off score. For instance, in the last draw, the minimum crs score was 459. Everyone with CRS score above and equal to the cut off score will be issued an ITA (Invitation to Apply). It is after then you can submit your application to CIC.

If you don't have a CRS score up to the cut off, you will remain in the pool. The target should therefore be to get as high CRS score as possible.

I have been able to answer your question.

Career / Re: Cisco STUDY GROUP (online) by DanIndia(m): 6:25pm On Sep 17, 2015
I know that. I was just checking with him. And you can't do so much with PT when studying for NP.
Fulaman198:

GNS3 is a great SIM if you can't get live equipment. Packet Tracer is decent as well.
Travel / Re: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by DanIndia(m): 6:20pm On Sep 17, 2015
Hi dupyshoo,

Thanks for the info you've just shared. I do have a question o. What's with the ITA ? Do you get that separately or you can just go on the cic website and then register for everything yourself ?
dupyshoo:
Hi Oclemzy,

I might not be the right person to answer your question as I don't have permanent residence yet. However, I will try to explain the next step to you based on my understanding.
You will need to assess you academic qualifications, if you have not. You can go for any of the 3 options (WES, ICAS & CES) but I will advise you to go for WES as you will get your ECA faster than the other 2. Check this link for more details http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/assessment.asp

You will also need to have the required fund in your account. I will advise you to keep the money for about 6 months except you can write a letter of explanation on the source of your fund. I had to reject my first Invitation to Apply as I was not too comfortable with the average balance over 6 months. Check this link for details http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/funds.asp

Once you have your IELTS result, use the tools below to calculate your CRS score and to confirm your eligibility. Your score will determine how early you get invitation to apply

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-factors.asp

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp

You can then join the pool. Ensure you choose the right NOC based on your Job experience and please do not put any information on your profile that you will not be able to provide proofs for as you will be asked to upload supporting documents after ITA. Let me know if you have any other questions.
