there are thousands of videos, articles, books etc about java.
The one thing I will say is, you must practice while learning. Don't just read or watch the videos, u should practice by coding yourself. Don't rush in trying to know everything at once.
Legacy channels like Thenewboston for Bucky Roberts, Derek Banas,Lynda. Com, Khan Academy should get u started.

Don't just watch, try changing the codes and see what happens. Books like Heads first Java is also a bomb.

For me, I had to learn some cs basics before learning programming in terms bits, transistors, Binary, computer architecture in relation to memory, CPU,7 bits,8 bits,32 bits,64 bits etc. Things like ASCII and Unicode xter set.
currently using head first java and the new boston on youtube.. but solo learning most times is not easy I am even thinking of going to a computer hub to learn

Most cs degree programmers prefer to get jobs as IT officers with multi nationals or banks just to earn fat salaries. But I see prospects in certain tech space in Nigeria like the fintech sector for over the counter coders alike. As a trained chemical Engineer, I learnt Perl and Java to be able to develop some simple softwares related to my course of study. Only recently, I started creating basic applications for my personal use e.g 2D games, weather app, scientific calc and some spatial data apps of mineral distribution in Nigeria. Though I am lucky to have a federal govt job to pay my bills.
hello m currently learning Java please can you share some materials with me

First you have to prepare your mind to face the challenge that will after...such as:
1) explaining to some family and friends who will give tell you you should not have.
2) you have to prepare to also loss some friends and fake family members as you will not always be datching out money as you used to in the past.
3) tell your self what you need to do after that to keep up your finances upward.

In my own case, I tried many things at first and I failed, but I keep trying many things till I found my bearing .

At least I make up to 50k every week .

I am involved in online trading (sport)..

NOTE...all you need is just capital of 200k and decipline.

Your internet enabled phone is all you need and decipline.

I will update more on the success of online trading if you wish.

I quit my job without hope of another job. Today, I'm living better than I ever thought. And it's not just me. I have many friends who did such, too.

Note: all my friends and I are into pure legit hustles.

You must be wondering where the motivation came from. It's simple. When you look at your current miserable job, pay and standard of living then look at people who have spent all their lives in that career/job but none of them's life is close to what you want for yourself 10yrs from now let alone 35yrs from now, then you know you're not on the right track.

It's simple.
sir pls can I get ur number or email am planning on quiting my job for this reason I just got a new job but the people I see is discouraging

In 2017 April, I had to quit and resign my job as a Sales Executive Staff with Nigerian Breweries PLC. I worked for 4 yrs

I had to, because the stress of the job was becoming so much, worst is some senior managers who assume God and feel without the job, u will die....BIG LIE....

Since that day till today, I have been on my own and never will I answer yes sir so any stupid man/woman as manager.
pls I am planning to walk this path can you guide me

motionarena, I have.

When I stumbled into a thread discussing freelancing on Nairaland, I couldn't sleep for days.

As a graduate working for a startup, my salary wasn't up to 100k. However, I strongly believed that I could do much better than I was earning if I took the bold step.

Finally, I did and that decision was my toughest ever, but it turned out my best career decision.

Funnily enough, my former colleagues are still earning the same salary some 3 years later. I cannot even talk about how the naira/dollar exchange rate has made my job better, the exposure I get and free time at my disposal.

Now, I get plenty of rest and look so fresh grin

No jumping into Lagos traffic.

The truth is, no guts, no glory
please can we chat privately I need your advice

North?

I had that mindset in the past, after rounding up my NYSC program in a northern state. Instead of me to take time to figure out what next, I rushed to Lagos to start hustling. After few years I relocated to another state.

Although, it is a lesson learnt in life and I now see there are opportunities in other states and Grace can always locate us wherever we are, irrespective of the location.

I thought it is south, but then there are some states with good commercial atmosphere in the north.

Anyway, do what your mind tells you and be focus on it.

I wish you the best in your endeavors.
pls am currently facing similar situation can I have your number

tits depends on what your business is all about and your goal.. for instance I can sell stuffed off my instagram account or sell on other e-commerce website e.g julia or konga but if I want to take the business to the next level I will have to build my own e-commerce website.
privacy is another issue to consider let's say u business is into collecting of sensitive information such as credit card details it will be best to own ur own web site...
