You like many young Nigerians seems not to understand that being educated goes beyond going to school.

It's such mentality like this that make many young Nigerians to be calling a retired General in The Nigerian Army an 'illiterate or Dullard'.

The experience, exposure, discipline and professional training of a Colonel who is not a graduate is superior to someone who just bagged BSc in Animal husbandry or B.A in Fine & Applied Arts.


I personally know many people who didn't attend much regular schooling while growing up but have since further their education through correspondence courses, private home teaching, adult education and numerous sandwich programmes.

Most of the trade unionists attended only
Modern Schools, Secondary schools or even dropped out at Form 2-3 (JSS-3) but they have upgraded themselves to be almost at par with Senators, Governors, Directors the other who call the shots in society.

lol....So, you are a GENCO and your job is power generation, but you can not make any money or generate any power because you depend on Gas that's not always available for tons of reasons to power your gas turbine, as a business man, do you need other people to tell you to diversify your operations by investing in other power generation methods with zero need for gas, like Solar and Wind? Is this not common sense and sound business decision? Do I have to tell you or explain this to you and even when they offer such suggestion, it is dictatorship?

DISCOs cannot generate power. They are only licensed to distribute power. Therefore, they can distribute (but NOT generate) alternative power supplies. Meanwhile, any potential investor in generation (including GENCOs) will require separate licenses and permits to construct and operate renewable energy plants of more than 30MW capacity (see current NERC regulations).

You don't task GENCOs to roll out various energy type/solutions like solar, wind and electricity. What sane nations do is allow anybody who can generate power most cost efficiently for a chosen power type do the power generation.

The discos failed investing in the power sector. Which power distribution company goes around disconnecting consumer manually in this 21st century when ideal way should have been to disconnect from their end automatically. All over Nigeria there are visibles power cables whereby proper infrastructure suppose to be underground cables to connect various building. No provision of meter to numerous consumer because of their dubious means of dishing out estimated billing. Probably you already forget about what happened in ilesha where discos were caught hoarding prepaid meters.

The point of the ex minister was not to criticize but rather he simply asked if Nigeria was prepared for the post oil world. Alternatives to oil for power generation is being used eg solar, electric cars etc and since our economy depends on oil, what happens when there is lower demand?
