Hi every one
Please can any one share recent information on their birthing journey in Canada. I will like to know the estimated cost, how to book for a hospital, accommodation and any other useful information.
I will appreciated your responses. Thanks

I believe it depends on where in canada you’re planning on giving birth.

As for accommodation, I have an Airbnb in Calgary and anyone interested, feel free to dm me.

Does anyone know how long it takes to register a birth in Calgary? Not birth certificate.
Just the process of registration takes how many days?

I’m in Calgary. Had my kids here too. What do you mean by process of registration?

When I gave birth, this was the process:

1. Regular visits to the family doctor until time for Oby gyn

2. Regular visits to Oby gyn who sent my information to the hospital where I’d have my baby.

3. Hospital called me with information they received and information I need to know.

4. On day of delivery, went to hospital and had baby.

Will I be able to get a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom for a family of five in Calgary ? The age range of my kids are from 4 to 8 years old.

I will be happy to get a reply here. Thank you

If you're planning to arrive Calgary in mid-May and you're searching for short-term accommodation, look no further. I have a fully furnished rental available. Yes you would.. Why wouldn't you? Housing in Calgary is also not so expensive. You should get at 850CAD upwards.

This is incorrect. I live in Calgary and the rental market is crazy right now.

Hello WIP

Please do you have details on covid test before and upon arrival in Nigeria from North Cyprus? Is it the same RT-PCR test that needs to be done in North Cyprus 72 hrs prior to arrival? And the covid test upon arrival to Nigeria, what country of departure should we fill? Cyprus or Turkey as Ercan/Lefkosa does not pop up as the option of departure airport. Please advise. Thanks

Hello destination, as mentioned I have valid visitor visa, can I travel with this visitor visa and present the passport request letter for them to issue my student permit?

Congratulations on your PPR. Reach out to the school to inform them of the late decision. Send all correspondence from ircc to the school and make payments for your fees.

That way you can register for your courses online if there’s still availability. Better still, phone the school. If this doesn’t work out then defer the admission to January and send your passport for stamping.

PPR Dropped yesterday! We thank God.
It's been a long wait and I would like to thank every guru that helped me through this process. I would also like to thank my sister for helping me as well, because this wouldn't have been possible without her. First time applicant, normal route and no agent.

My Timeline

June 12th - Request for Biometrics
June 16th - Biometrics done and Updated
July 8th - Upfront Medicals submitted
July 9th - Medicals being reviewed
July 20th - Medicals passed
Sept 20th - PPR Dropped

All Documents Submitted;
1) Application of study permit made outside Canada (imm1294e)
2) Letter of Acceptance
3) Scanned Copy of Passport Info Page

WE THANK GOD! It wouldn't have been possible without His grace. The thread has been a tremendous help. I wasn't in any WhatsApp group, nor did I have any agent. I did this application with my sister and Nairaland. It took a long time to work on it, but it was worth it.

To God be thy glory.
Great is thy faithfulness.

To all PPR Hopefuls: You will get it soon by the grace of God—Your labour will not be in vain. God, in His infinite mercies, will cover your mistakes and colour your efforts. The joy will go round. My spouse's PPR finally dropped yesterday (September 20th)! Thank God!
The only documents we submitted for him were Police clearance and passport biodata page. No CV, bank statement, Job offer letter or salary slip. We had nothing else to show, so we could only trust God and he came through. We applied for a visiting visa and not SOWP. We felt that was a better case.

For anyone with a weak profile, please stay hopeful. God can do anything! Thanks to everyone giving helpful information on this platform

Double congratulations

Good morning everyone
Since getting my passport request I have submitted my passport to the Lagos office since I am in no rush. I used dhl two way courier and even got a return waybill. The last email notification sent yo me from vfs said that my decision envelope had been picked up from the vac in Lagos. Does this mean the dispatch rider has collected it or something? I’m confused because I am also tracking the dhl package online and it says that the package has not been received yet.
This is the last message I got. Please help, I hope there is no cause for alarm.

It means DHL has picked it up and will take to their warehouse to get everything organized before dispatch. That’s why you don’t see an update on DHL right now.

Congratulations

It’s been awhile - just here to share a little bit of light to all those yet to get their PPRs.

Never give up. It may seem like it’s hard, endless and dark at the end of the tunnel, but once you receive your PPR, you won’t remember this feeling anymore.

For those coming to Calgary Alberta, especially those who have received PPR, feel free to hit me up if you need info or assistance.

Hello house,

Please i need your help, I applied for a visiting visa for my mum and sent that email for the application priority, and also attached the proof of relationship which are my international passport, my mum birth certificate, her change of name docs, invitation letter and the doctor's letter for my pregnant wife.

I received this email from IRCC "Based on our assessment of your recent enquiry, we cannot process your request as you have not provided sufficient evidence that you meet an exemption criterion and/or that your travel to Canada is non-discretionary, per the travel restrictions implemented to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID‑19) in Canada.
Even though you do not meet an exemption criterion and/or your travel has not been deemed non-discretionary, your application will now be put on hold until after the travel restriction pause has been lifted"

Please could it be because i didn't attach my PR card and my birth certificate. If yes, can any one suggest the docs they used for their proof of relationship. Thanks

I also applied for my mum and included all the above as you had plus PR card and DL. Also included I needed her support in the theatre and want her with me during delivery.
She got the visa.

Canny people especially Calgary people, pls help.

Information online says secondary school (year 7) starts at age 12. Does this mean a child who isn't 12 by August of a particular school year will not be able to start year 7? I suspect this is the case but just curious about the experience of those who have landed. Is the standard the same regardless of public, private or religious school? I know kids can't start kindergarten until they are 5 (at least in Calgary) just curious if the age regime is also strict for secondary school.

Also pls does anyone have information or experience of special schools for gifted kids or kids with exceptional talent? From what I've read looks like the child has to have spent at least a term/year in a Canadian school to be assessed.

Thanks.

PS: this was very useful for anyone researching schools: https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/school-admissions-read-all-about-it-here.72241/

There are different requirements and eligibility for different schools. The best would be to reach out to the Calgary school board and make your enquires. There are times where some requirements are waived but there are also conditions to be met in order for the waiver to occur.
Reach out to them directly and make enquires about any confusion or questions you may have.

Are you the medical doctor?

The process for medical professionals is not as straightforward as other occupations. You need to be registered with AHPRA which can happen after you have written the qualifying exams.

You can google AHPRA to read more.

Thanks, the Medical Doctor is a family relative, its not me. We have been trying to, but like you said it seems complicated. Like I said, we created an account through AHPRA, but could not get pass filling educational history as there was no option for choosing educational institutions outside Australia.

i get confused with AHPRA registration and that of Medical Board of Australia (MedBA) https://www.medicalboard.gov.au/Registration/International-Medical-Graduates.aspx.

From your experience, do you think the above link is the one for overseas applicants? Thanks kindly advise.
