Which companies on NGX can help us share in the next phase of corruption? grin

My thoughts on Oando: This case will linger while The cowboys codedly mop up Oando shares through brokers. At the right time, heavy crossings will be made, shortly after that, Oando will agree to pay more than N7.07 knowing they are not going to spend so much again to get the remaining units from the stubborn holders... grin
Just hearing the adjournment date go weak some weak hands, causing dem to do exactly what Oando figures out they will do... grin

Well you have a very valid point.

One of the ways the US used to make countries to comply is to change the government. How many governments can they change now.

But i believe the US know what they are doing, they also have their simulations and know when the threshold will be reached and take countermeasures.

But in all this, what is an investor in Nigeria to do?

With Nigeria volume of debt and all, will this favour Nigeria?

Has anything ever favoured us? grin

There is a difference buying yuan bonds and then storing Nigerian reserves in yuan bonds(automatically in Renminbi).

But in this case, it is about paying for goods and services in local /regional currencies as against buying dollars to buy the goods.

India and Malaysia are using their currencies to exchange goods and services.

Sri Lanka will be buying oil using their national currency from Russia.

Totalenergies bought 65,000 tons on LNG from UAE using yuan. Never done before.

This isn't about buying Chinese bonds. This is about exchange of goods and services in currency that is not USD.

If you listened to Marco Rubio (US senator) yesterday, you will understand what he is saying about trading outside USD as he complained about Brazil wanting to trade with China in yuan and Brazil real.

And this move is the currency war where surpluses are no longer rolled into US and EU treasuries thereby creating the losses seen in western banks and other non-financial institutions.

Las last, na everybody go chop...... grin

Taking the Nigeria way/route by registering as her is unlawful. The right thing to do is to approach a high court to issue a letter of administration with which you can recover all her/CSCS unclaimed assets including shares. The registrars and banks will lawfully provide you with all her statements of accounts.

'Registering' was used to mean 'inputing' . That is typing her name in the space provided. I entered a lot of names of people I personally knew and were close to me but very secretive and discovered they had shares in several companies. Some of the companies have been in ICU for years now. These people are not very informed about stocks. They just bought. I found a way to reach out smartly to them by raising the topic of stocks with them. Some opened up and I helped. Some pretended and I looked for closer people to them and they eventually got help without knowing it was coming from me. Those who could not be helped, I am just watching them. This may be God's way of punishing them maybe for illegally acquired money... grin

Transcorp Plc, just seriously fluctuating its price up and down. What's happening on it ooo?

This is the reason: Result was given to people to upload, they kept it to themselves to finish buying first, together with their friends and concubines. They did this because the result was great. Then they suddenly realised that a great result with poor dividend attracts the stick on NGX as Sugar is seeing. They decided to heavily reduce what they initially bought before publishing it. They started selling down.
Then suddenly Tony was visited by BAT, angry Obidients joined the selling bazaar. As the price dropped so much, they again decided to wait to see if it will get back below N1.10 so they can put head before releasing the result. The huge fluctuations is caused by information asymmetry... grin

NB. This is my conspiracy theory... grin

. Earning season.. New President Elect and Anticipation of Q1 results are good signs....

Most companies will post a bad Q1. Bubu with Meffy destroyed February up to date with the Naira policy.
People are hardly spending their cash. Many small businesses are just doing watchmen's job.
I met a hawker begging me for cash to eat. I felt so sad. He did not know the plate of food he met me eating was on credit, pending when I could access cash. I later paid that small amount through transfer... After two days of trying ussd.
Go to most drinking joints at night now, you will feel police just left the place after a raid.

Nobody has the monopoly of madness...if you do not see opportunities in the market, sell off and take a walk, rather than trying to cause panic and convince others to cause a forceful sell off of the equity market (just because your supposed savior did not win).

I am of the opinion that the country will excel, if we see ourselves as stakeholders, advising ourselves to do the right thing....no having a figure head and saying without him or her we cannot excel (note, i am not discounting the importance of a good head). I have been disappointed too many times with supposed savior I voted for, to be bother by who is elected. one man cannot work magic if the people he/she is leading is flawed.

How do you explain Nigerians charging 1000 naira for every 10,000 naira collected via POS....is this the fault of the president? Shouldn't we help ourselves by ensuring the money we collect from the bank is circulated, while charging our normal 100/200 naira per 10,000 collected? We are our own worst enemy and need to love ourselves more and be loyal to the motherland.

Nigeria will succeed and we will continue to make money in the NSE. Feel free to JAPA if you are not happy that your savior did not win.

Apologies to all if I may have derailed the thread with my rant, just needed to respond to those who want to create a panic in the system.

. You are a honourable member of this house. Let's keep the discussion strictly to NSEMPA.

His post is very relevant at this point.
It helps in planning for positioning on NSE, knowing how investors think.
It would have been better to ask for his rough paper so we can compare notes.
Ultimately, who wins WILL boost or burn our positions in this market.
We should be thinking of these kind of permutations here to guide us on where to put money.
Personally, I know who MUST lose... grin

1. Based on last year dividends FCMB distributed about 20% of earnings while UBA did 33% resulting in FCMB dividend yield of about 6.6 and 13.3 % respectively. Thus for dividend returns UBA is better.
2. EPS for FCMB and UBA has been up and down over the last 5 to 10 years but both are trending up, with UBA appearing more robust in trend. Perhaps because it's tier 1 bank while FCMB is a smaller bank.
3. Cannot comment much on this right away.
4. The relative more appreciation of FCMB you noted is not under-pinned by something enduring that i see. Hence will very likely not continue. Rather it makes UBA more attractive for entry right away.

My major consideration is current dividend yield. Based on current prices of UBA at about N7.50 and FCMB of N3.00 expected dividend yield are 13.3% and 6.7% respectively. That difference in dividend yield is Huge. Also I estimate UBA and FCMB earnings per share yield based on these same prices at the end of the year will be 42.6% and 34.9% respectively if earnings of N3.2 and N1.05 are delivered just like the last audited results. Hence UBA will give back more money immediate in dividends while growing ones underlying investments at a faster rate.
