Bruv, read that link again and tell where me Egypt is ranked first as culled by you in your previous post.
From same link, u can see Southafrica and Kenya are the only two countries ahead of Nigeria while Ghana is directly beneath us.
I am not here to argue though, just highlighting the mistake on what you said about Egypt bin number one.

Dru, Nigeria is ranked amongst the top 3... the Egypt u mentioned is beneath us.
The aim of every investor is to grow (largely acceptable), losing one out of your top 3 stronghold should make u sit up and yes losing Nigeria is a big deal to them.

[quote author=dru23 post=83621498]

Funny enough Nigeria is not even uber's biggest African market.. So losing Nigerian market is not a big deal to them in my opinion .. Egypt is the biggest market for them and Some other African countries .. Those market are more important to them than Nigeria...

Quite an interesting thread, you learn, unlearn and relearn. One thing is certain, we disagree to agree, and if we refuse to reach a common ground, we leave it at that...
Rider was wrong likewise the driver, "An eye for an eye" they say, if we go by that, then everyone would totally go blind or have few people living on earth, in my earlier comment, sometimes all we need do is just to tap into our emotional intelligence and that settles it.
A rider lives in a pretty bad environment (dilapidated roads) makes a request and driver says no...that shouldn't give the rider the effrontery to say afterall you are a driver you must take me to my destination. Nope, if they all refuse to take u there, common sense should set in : add a bit of incentive to entice them, take a yellow and black taxi, take a bus or maybe a bike... stop having a sense of entitlement where there is none...

Lolz, there is a reason it's called emotional intelligence, this is obviously what most people lack.
A driver refused to go an extra "mile" to pick up a rider and as such made the rider to make a degoratory statement which was totally uncalled for. Gazzuz on the other hand saw the statement as an ambiguous one but when a statement like that is made during conflict or slight issues, the statement tilts more to follow a certain narrative...
It is crystal clear that drivers are being looked down on, we have seen countless testimonies on this thread how riders belittle drivers, some riders send them to go buy yam while having their maids in the car, some send them to buy food while they sit in the car, some would expect drivers to carry their bags to their door post etc and when a statement like "that's why you are a taxi driver" is thrown at you when there is a bit of ish, it surely means one thing... regardless of you try to look at it, it was bad of the rider to say such.
Stop trying to cover up things when it's obvious the statement was pun intended.

@Radautos and Gazzuzz, pls one of you should help this young man, possibly tell him parts to buy and also attach a little service fee to it.

Dont give up Bruv, you certainly gonna breakthrough this obstacle...

What was the state of the civic when u bought it?
There are some hindsight factors that made it so.
Maybe u bought a salvaged or flooded car and it wasnt properly fixed.

Npala:

It's really surprising to me how we compare Corolla to Civic for ehailing. I am not a mechanic and I know just basic things about cars but based on user experience, Corolla 2005 cannot be compared to Civic 2005 for uber and bolt business.

I bought a tokunbo 2005 honda civic and did the initial servicing with the recommended engine oil and ATF and set to the business with it. After like a month and half, the car starts having all sorts of issues and I eventually had to change the transmission and still battling with the car being too low to the ground and leg issues.

A month later, I sold the car for 40% off my purchase amount.

I bought Tokunbo Toyota Corolla 2005, used recommended oil and stuffs and set to work with it. November 2019 will be the 10th month i started with the Corolla and all I have done is just basic servicing and nothing more and I drive at least 4 days in a week.

If you are using Civic for personal use, I am very sure it is a very strong and good car, but drive it from morning to night, 5 times or more a week, for 3 months. It's not good enough.

I am not trying to shade dru23 but this is my experience driving both cars. 100% user experience.

Quite entertaining I must say (the back and forth that birthed over ten pages)...

What makes us human is the ability of self-analysis, mental time travel, imagination, abstract reasoning, cultural establishment, empathy and a lot more.
Going by the above statement, every driver gat the right to accept or decline a trip if it does not suit his/her itinerary... We live in a country where we are deprived of social amenities, our taxes are not being used for its purpose, for one to survive, you only do not have to work hard but to work smart hence the cancellation of certain trips and I see no reason a rider would be upset if a driver says no to his/her destination. It's only a robot that would accept every trip without having an issue and the last I checked that's not possible in this part of the world.

As for the driver who proposed an offline trip, yeah he was wrong to have asked for that, if the rider had proposed it then it would have bin different.

Let's stop throwing tantrums and try to be civil the way we go about things.
@Izzou, I really do commend your sense of reasoning, nice one bro.

You likely wont have any cash left cus your highlander equates the Corolla (sound one)

ajoks533:
Am happy connecting with you guys... Picked up some knowledge here.

However, I just spoke with my Mechanic today. He will be coming down to pick the Highlander to place it on sale. Hopefully, within a week or so I can head down to Abj to start my hustle there. My Mechanic said I should look at buying a clean carefully used registered Corolla for a start. So that I can have small cash on my me to look for a small accommodation and move on from there.

He actually said going to Kaduna to look for the car would be a good idea, as it might be cheaper down there. Don't know how much truth is in that idea. Can anyone plz help me confirm?

Was able to connect with the Abuja thread, but that place dull jor!... So I will still stick around here and get more insights from the masters of the trade.

You have said it all... empowering his friend / his friend getting a job should be the joy in it and that statement he made exposed a bit of his mind (not willing to help) If he truly wanna help, you will know.

tojahh:

Baba you make me laugh. You are making it sound like you're helping your friend when actually both of you are going for business. With this mindset alone you're already envisaging problems where there's none.

Type of car to buy you didn't mention
Tokumbo or naija use or brand new we no know.
Mode of operation we weren't told.

If you want business... Buy your car, give to the guy, with a contractual agreement and look away... Any default qualifies you to retrieve your car as stipulated in the contract. You said what about three months into it and he get a better job? Shey no be better thing? Then your car still stays as your car and the next driver continues while he forfeits whatever he has paid before then. Its a win win for you as car owner. So bro do whatever brings money to your pocket and sip a bottle of Trophy as you do.

My observations, you really do not want to help this friend of yours, few words said to you and next is 'I am done'...
If you are in a position to help someone, do so and do not look back. Meanwhile, I would say it is unwise to spend 2m on a car for this hustle, go for low end cars, there are tokunbo cars within the region of 1.4-1.6m that's best suited for this job.
Talking about your capital should your friend get a corporate job, you can either sell the car off or continue the cycle either by giving a fleet coy to handle or you get a driver yourself. The joy there is you helped a friend when he was down and trust me only an ingrate wont appreciate that.

NIGHTLIFE100:
Thanks to everyone I appreciate all the contributions and ideas I honestly don’t think I’m ready to take this risk of uncertainty from popes experience my thought now is what if I couple the car for 2m and after 3 months he eventually secure a corporate job, what will happen to my capital.... Abeg make God bless my friend I’m done...

First of all, why do you want to venture into the business?
For daily bread or just for fun?
If for daily bread, then sell it and get a car suitable for the hustle, if for fun, then go ahead with the es330.

Good Afternoon guys.

I’m new to this Uber Business. I would be glad if someone puts me through.

I want to know if it would be profitable to use my Lexus Es330 2004 model for uber. I plan to drive it myself.

If yes, how much should I expect to make weekly.

Thanks in anticipation of your responses.

I havent owned or driven a 4runner so I cant really say but I know it's a strong SUV. If you plethora of time at your disposal and you see ehailing as something you want to try your hands on, then I would suggest an alternative suv. 2008/2009 crv is okay, it comes with a 2.4ltr engine and pretty cheap to maintain.

laluski:

I drive an EOD and want to upgrade to a Jeep.from my research the 4runner is very rugged considering my kind of area(EJIGBO grin)
I have allot of time ony hands so I wanted to use one stone kill two birds.i will have Suv and still make money with it.
Will buy the V6 variant course

It comes in 2 engine variants, v6 and v8.

My question is, what is the purpose behind it?

Please I await ur answers urgently.Tnx

A friend of mine needed some SUV's for rent and he contacted me.
My point is, everyone gat a reason they are on the platform.
Some are on the platform to get their daily bread while some see it as a networking tool. Like I said earlier, know what works for you.
Find attached screenshots of how much was paid to rent just a Gwagon and multiply that by 3... a wedding of roughly 8hrs.

Business / Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by Dovehorizon: 4:22pm On Sep 11, 2019
Bruv, this is a very simple thing and let's not make it look herculean. If you find yourself in a new environment, what are u supposed to do?
You are expected to ask questions, know where to park and where not to, know where u are meant to position yourself at certain hours, like I said it isn't rocket science...

Crvrider:

Your is head is their. If he got a trip from the choicest places in Lagos to agbara, how is he going to know that place is a no go area?
Business / Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by Dovehorizon: 4:13pm On Sep 11, 2019
It isn't rocket science bruv, he might belong to one or two WhatsApp/telegram groups where they sing it as a song that places like agbara, volks, Santo otago are no go area, aside the fact u gonna battle with bad roads and stress out your shocks, u likely not gonna get a return trip.
Meanwhile, if you relocate to new abode and wanna venture into ride share, I believe u certainly gonna ask questions before embarking on the hustle. Talking about getting a Civic to use within a certain period of time, dont u think that might kill or knock off the sole purpose for him bin on the platform?
Everyone gat a strategy, know what works for you.

pope191:

Reject certain trips when e just moved to Lagos, how is he suppose to know some areas r no go area or when he pick does bad riders that careless and ask him to enter bad spots. If I were in his position and honestly want to know road and as well make connections, I'll rather get Dru23 and use for like 2 to 3 months, afterward, I'll sell off at a give away price, than using such car.

From the lady's story on twitter yday, the young man just moved to Lagos with his family and using uber to familiarize with Lagos and get to know one or two persons. He's into interior decorations stuff.

More like he's using the car to pass time and make earnings till he establishes his contacts and business in lag. Not bad, if he selects places he drives to

Maintenaning such vehicle is actually expensive but the driver will certain reject certain trips

Crvrider:

If it's too good to be true, then its probably not. Oven things loading...

If its not an executive hire, I see no wisdom in using a 4matic for uber or taxify.

Went to Agbara 2weeks ago, long story short, my car hasn't recovered since then.

I need a suspension specialist!!!
