ImaIma1: One poster said the guy should not give money if sex is not involved. Some people don't really know what relationships are about and that it isn't about trade by barter.
Our men should be more respectful of a woman's body. It will go a long way to make them understand much.
And OP I don't know what your relationship was founded on and the purpose for it but you guys need to talk to each other. And if you are not on the same page, you move on.
Sex is not a requirement in dating but in marriage. The fact that people do it doesn't make it right and anyone that doesn't want to do it, should not be pushed. |

Yeah, because being a woman in Nigeria is a big risk now. We are potential victims, runs girl or legit or whatever. So long you are female, they see you as their potential money drawer. Both young and old. I will have baby girls one day, I have female cousins and nieces and I fear for us. We can't walk on the street now without checking left and right. Suspecting that man who just passed by who mistakenly or intentionally rubbed his shoulder on us without checking to see if everything is intact. We can't date rich guys cause his source of money, we don't know. Who knows if he's a ritualist, kidnapper or yahoo guy? And poor /broke guys? We are scared too cause most of them are desperate to make money and will use those closer to them as a source. Take a look at those who killed that delsu student, do they look rich? To keep male friends now na risk, if they dont rape, they kill for rituals. You know your best male friend since primary school? Doesn't mean you can't be his potential victim if he wants. That guy on the street who sends his 12year old neighbor on errands might likely do evil things to her the next day. We can't conveniently dry our underwears outside now, pant snatchers are roaming all about.
Being a woman is Nigeria/Africa is a big risk. And yes I am pained, because people mostly men still find justification to these evil vices. You are a leech, runs girl, make your own money, student, married, single ....we are potential victims!
We can't even walk on the road these days. Have read so many of your posts, your fears are understandable; like they say "the times are evil". Men that engage in yahoo, rituals etc are far in the minority, there are very legitimate and cool headed guy out there, just know what you want and be willing to work towards it. My advise to ladies; avoid greed, don't be desperate, avoid unreasonable expectations. |

otipoju:
I swear to God we really have greedy and selfish leaders who are also extremely clueless as to how to move the country forward.
When i moved to USA...i saw firsthand the difference between an industrialised country and a third world country.
When you read it in textbooks you wont really understand how advanced they are and how backward we really are.
They have machines for everything such that they can produce anything in large quantities and quickly too.
Just one simple policy of removing import duties for "production machines and health care equipment" for the next 8 years will create massive employment for millions of Nigerians because small business owners and medium scale manufacturers can up their game.
I have a South african friend who told me there is no import duty for Agriculture equipment in his country.
But Nigerian government na lie. They will promise to create employment and empowerment but they do not understand that its not their job to create jobs.
....all they need to do is to deliberately create and sustain an enabling environment for entreprenuers and investors to create those jobs by opening new and expanding their various businesses.
A favourable climate for business is one in which we have the following:
1. Adequate security of lives and property...not one where soldiers, policemen and herdsmen and cultists are killing citizens indicriminately.
2. Stable banking system where the banks are healthy enough to loan to the real sector and so citizens can borrow to build their own houses or buy flats in a residential estate.
3. Removing import duties on equipment designed for manufacturing, cultivating crops, building houses and roads for a certain period...instead we have multiple taxes and all sorts of levies.
4. Have a solid tranport system..( Road, Rail, and Air and water)...for the safeand quick movement of goods...a good and wide road into a deserted area opens up that area for residential and commercial activity ...not the one that petrol tanker and containers will be falling on roads because they are too narrow to manouver.
5. Transperent judicial system where justice is not for sale to the highest bidders but is swift and also fair .
6. Massive building of world class craft schools in nearly every major and minor city...where anyone can be trained in a specific craft with the most modern tools availabe.
After graduating, they are issued two things
1. A Federal business license that can be verified by any customer on a public database. 2. Start up capital of 500k...
Try this in the north and see if it wont get all those almajiris off the streets.)
Try this in the east, if it will not unleash the genius of all those Igbo boys that can make something from nothing.
Try it in the West, if Nigeria will not become the Fashion capital of the world)
The effect of quality training and licencing is that quality of work and uniformity/standard will become the norm. Instead of the "anything goes" that is obtainable now.
Added.
7. Power Supply - one cannot but stress the importance of power supply to economic growth and a quality life. Power supply to any business is like blood and air to any human being. If you loose too much blood you die. If you dont have enough air to breathe, you die.
Sadly the powers that be (the petrol sellers and generator importers ) will contnue to enrich themselves while everyone else suffers while the government blame witches and wizards because they are the agents of darkness.
