afoobabs:
UI Admission my take away, at first i thought the policy by the Minister of Education to stop postutme was a laudable one because i thought this will stop the extortion of money from the frustrated admission seekers by the Schools. little did i know that this policy was a pathetic one But now seeing how the schools are managing this policy which has swept merit under the carpet, says goodbye to fair play and bid farewell to healthy competition, i say #BringBackOurPostUtme# O'level and Jamb alone is not enough for schools to determine and set cutoff as far as am concern i think 'not all that have A's merit the grades and its not all that have C's are daft, for 5cs to be equal to 1(B) is not only wickedness but also a way to encourage aspirant to go to any length(malpractice) to get those those A's and B's. UI cutoff was not set base on how significant the course is but how many people applied. if someone is not out of his/ her goddamn mind why will he/she set 65.00 for EDUCATION Economics while the cut off for (LAW) was 64.95 even the cutoff for Education economics is higher than that of Pure Economics hmm shaking my head wonder the type of student UI will be having in her departments this year.

I have two friends that applied to UI for Admission this year, the first one had a score >200<210 in Jamb but Have 3 A's and 2B's in her o'level, the other had a score >240<250 but you know wink C's stuffs in o'level summing the points the former got a point >69< 75 but the later got a point less than 50. so the later has been burst out of the ring And she is even more brilliant than those brandishing A's had she been given the grace of taking post utme there is no gainsaying that she could have stand a chance.

The purpose of my epistle is that the deed as been done if you dont meet up this year go back and dust your books 2017/2018 jamb is around the corner and this time around choose wisely try to befriend your bronchure if you don't have the hardcopy you can get the soft copy on Jamb website.
my token: student that will reapply (if your o'level is C's pls dont choose UI even if u score 400 in jamb which i dont want to say its impossible you might not meet the cuffoff still, depending on your level of c's ) sadly thats the bitter truth. Doing the something the same way continuously and expecting a different result is a form of insanity. To the New aspirant check the grading point system calculate your O'level now to determine the aggregate Jamb score you will need to work toward to beat this year cutoff, to be on the safer side try to be atleast 5 point higher than this year's cutoff.

Now to those that have beat the cutoff i say congratulations, i pray your name comes out in the list, try and proof us wrong that you merit the admission by giving it all you av got.

Now am using this opportunity to call on all admission seekers, lets us demand for our dear Post UTME to be returned.
Mallam Adamu : pls #BringBackOurPostUtme#
Prof Is-haq Oloyede: pls #BringBackOurPostUtme#
for those that would attack me am not an applicant just an observer and 2017/2018 applicant wannabe
good one

Babzenny, I agree with you. There should've been catchments cut offs.. Merit and elds only? That isn't cool! They even ignored 'locality'. It baffles me. The cut off subheading looks empty with merit and elds as admission criteria only.

Truth be told, the cut offs for medicine and engineering are uncalled for.
The reason why UI can't do catchment is that every state in Nigeria is a catchment state for UI..... So if they want to be taking one aspirant from each state there wont even be merit... How you get my point

pls how did UI calculate d aggregate score
here bro
POST UTME SCORING SYSTEM
UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN
2016/2017 SESSION
WAEC/NECO: A1(6), B2(5), B3(4), C4(3), C5(2), C6(1).
For the five relevant subjects the scores are added together to get X.
Score = (X/30) x 50 = O’level points (50)
JAMB/UTME: Jamb scores / 8 = Jamb points (50)
Add O’ level + Jamb points = Weighted Scores (100)
For 2 sittings:

The first examination based on date is taken as the template for all candidates with two sittings. The deficiency from this template is picked from the second sitting but the points from the second sitting are divided by 2.

Ui has its catchment areas as all the states in the federation..
I wanna ask how they're gonna derive other cut offs apart from merit according to jamb's merit, catchment areas and elds.
Ui's 2011/2012 cut offs had Merit, 'Locality' and elds as its headings.

What's that 'locality' all about abeg?
they chose the best aspirant per state for the course to fill the catchment area
