Good day to you all. Please I need ur advice. Please is there any implications for not showing up at the interview as I already scheduled jan18 and I won't be available on that date. My original date was this December but couldn't show up due to work load and I rescheduled to jan18, now I won't be able to show up again. I'm ready to let go of the visa fee.

Hope I'm safe on my future application, hope there won't be any issue?
I awaits your response. Thanks

I do not think that your future applications will be jeopardized in any way. However, it would be wise to email the embassy and get a more trusted reply.

Hello all, Please would a fully funded graduate student (tuition+living expenses) all stated in the i 20 and award letter from the institution still require to take along or show any other financial evidence/personal funds/bank statements at the visa interview.
Thanks

I am surprised somebody answered YES to this question. I was not asked of any bank statement at all. The VO looked at the I20 and saw that expense was covered. You should not be needing any bank statement.

Hello guys. Great work you're doing here. I have a few questions regarding the US point of entry. First, is there a specific amount of money I'm expected to carry with me as I would rather travel light without much cash at hand. Second, my sponsor would be sending my school fees via western union before resumption date. Is that okay?

Nobody requires you to carry cash. However a little cash will be handy depending on how will get to your final destination.

Ensure that the school accepts the means of making the payment. You should be fine.

I no know whether olodo like me go fit go America go study..

I made 2.7GPA in Nigerian School and I would like to go to America for master's in Education.

It was actually my first semester that affected my GPA as I was given admission very late.

In the preceding years, I made As, Bs and Cs

Even if I can't get direct admission for masters.

Can anybody suggest, schools that offer PGD and when I am done, I will proceed with my Masters.

You may not stand a very good chance with top schools, but with a good GRE, average schools could accept you in a Masters program.

I finished BTech in Applied Geology second class lower (2.92 GPA)
I seriously need your advice house...
1. Should I go write GRE and try get a masters degree at an affordable University, will I get admitted and will I also be given VISA?
2. I wish to do Nursing, can I apply for a degree in Nursing, will I be given a VISA?
At this state I'm confused, I have wasted a lot trying to process Canada.. I've been told not to try applying for VISA cause of the course I applied for else I'll be bounced...

Assist please...

If you really love Geology, then I would advise the first option. When I interviewed for a visa, the guy in front of me was going for bachelors in nursing after obtaining a bachelors here in a different field. He couldn't scale through. It is often difficult to give a convincing reason acceptable to the VOs for this kind of switches.
Apply to average schools that are affordable (upward of four schools) and if you score okay on GRE, you should have a good chance.

best of luck!

pls what is yellow card?

Yellow card is not necessary for traveling to the US. If you must get one, then visit the ministry of health closest to you. Shouldn't cost more than N500.

thanks for your response... Now this is the problem I am facing.. I checked my file and I was unable to get my whole results from 100l to 500l....Back in school, my department didn't give us 400l rain and hamartan semester results, it was pasted.. So those are the ones I couldnt get... But I have the rest from 100, 200,300 and 500. But I have Collected my original Certificate... So now, what I am thinking is just attaching my final 500l result with the original certificate and package it as my transcript.. Please, can it work that way...?The house too should please come to my aid ..

You will need to send all. 100 and 500 will not be good enough.

but the minimum balance was last seen in april...can I still use it?

The minimum balance that you require should be seen as at the date of printing the statement. People usually print at the time the balance is high before funds are used. 6 months after the date of printing is still valid.

B*LLSHIT!!! B*LLSHIT!!... Sorry if this sounds harsh but it almost very clear that the reality of life in Nigeria is yet to hit you. Do you know how many of my secondary school mates regurgitated crap back then for USAP at walter carrington, well guess what, none of them are back home changing africa or doing whatever the f*ck they were spewing out then. W hat bothers me even more that even more people including you keeps spewing this crap about changing africa, Nigeria, or any god damned agency. News Flash!!, Nigeria does not need you to get comfy overpriced education before you change it. Look dude, if you want to study abroad and become an excellent human being with heightened enlightenment , then go for it, and become the best human being you can be. For now clear all the Nigeria, NPF crap from your head.
PS: Sorry if this sounds insulting, pardon me. sad sad

That's very harsh. Do you really think that there are people who do not plan to go home after their US studies? I bet you there are.

And you clearly hold an opinion that one man cannot make a difference. Nelson Mandela and others who made a difference with their lives would say NO.

I have actually resolved that by cancelling the scheduled appointment and refilled new DS160. After filling new DS160 the new DS160 ID was updated on the appointment. Then i choose new available date for interview. The DS160 ID must be updated on the appointment to avoid rejection due to irregularity.
Because the DS160 ID on DS160 confrimation must be the same as the DS160 ID on the appointment confirmation. Thanks boss.

Nice one.

Still converting? undecided This is the first thing you need to stop doing once you started living in US. If you're the type that cut low, then get a $35 clipper and a mirror and start doing it yourself. It will save you $27 for every 2 weeks.

Hi.. I have a question to ask.. I'm interested in studying any Healthcare course such as pt or if possible medicine in the United States. But the problem is that.. I have a commercial o level... And when i checked their requirements i saw physics, chemistry and so on.. Pls how do I go about it??

How about attending physics, chemistry etc classes and writing another O Level here before you apply to US schools? What is informing your choice of Healthcare? How do you know you will excel in that area when you probably didn't do Biology in the commercial O Level?

My take is give those courses a try here and pass them ( and also have a feel of what they are), then you can apply to US schools.

Best of luck.

Hello, I'm applying for a BA in Criminology at CSU but I already have a B.A in communications from a Nigerian University. If I am asked why another BA. I intend saying that I have an interest in joining the NPF so I decided to study Criminology again, because I feel that having an indept and background knowledge about what crime is and what's causes it would help me well in my career part and also help me in handling criminal cases. Do you mind if I have like a pre interview with you, for you to help me point out answers you feel would lower my chances of getting the visa. Thank you and sorry for any inconvenience.

Is joining the NPF the actual reason why you went for Criminology? Like LagosNIV said couple of pages back, they simply want to know why you made the choices of school and program. If that's the reason, then that's your best answer and be prepared to back that answer up.

I don't mind reviewing your responses. Feel free to PM me....

Good evening GREAT MINDS.
I have B.sc civil engineering and applied for Masters in occupational safety and health technology at MURRAY STATE UNI in 2015 but was denied and also in 2016.
I have another admission now for Masters in civil engineering at CLEVELAND STATE UNIVERSITY.
My question now is what would or should be my response if I am asked by the VO,
Why civil engineering now? And why cleveland state uni now?

Cc: @lagosismyhome, deetus, texrem, walspring, oludare01, profojah, and every other guru in the house pls.
GOD BLESS!!!

Why do you really want to study Civil Engineering and Why Cleveland State University. I admit the first question is easier to answer because it is very personal to you. You are the one that have the best answer to that. I suggest you get a pen and paper, sit down and reflect on your past studies and experiences so far and write up two or three sentences that will answer that.

On the second question, you will need to find out what is unique about CSU and also their Civil Engineering. Usnews.com allows individual schools to provide content on their strongest uniqueness for readers. It is under the heading School Mission and Unique Qualities. That would also help you to answer your second question.

best of luck.

Does she really need any standardized tests? I guess not. Her work experience can cover that. Just trying to access her situation so that she would choose a nice major. cool

Standardized tests if done well will boost her profile and will take the limits off the schools she can apply to. 10+ years of relevant work experience in Nigeria didn't cover for my standardized test.
If you know a school where her current profile without test scores fits, then that's good news. She may proceed with that.

Please am new here and also a novice about Educational transcript of a thing,i will needyour encouragements. Thanks in Advance

Am a graduate in a recognized University LAUTECH tongue ,studied computer science having 3.6 cgpa in grading system of 5.0. Having few questions to ask that disturbed me and i believe you are capable of helping me out,the questions go this way

(1)the graduate program i applied for, after seaching thoroughly, the department indicated not all courses been offered require gre but Toefl, and the course i applied for, GRE is not required and for the Toefl,i noticed Nigeria is exempted from taking Toefl. And please let me know how lucky i am or dangeorus it is to not take any of those exams

(2)when registering, there's an attachment transcript or mark sheets and before that,

Pls kindly explain this
Please click on the Document Type drop down menu to view any required supporting documents for your application.  If "Other" is the only document type listed, then the program does not require additional supporting documents. Academic transcripts/mark sheets uploaded with this application are considered unofficial.

Please explain that to me our experienced Hons

(3)official transcript or un-official, babu i don't have any, tried processing the transcript, but Lautech Administration Down. And have hanged the application process for now.

In my silly thinking i thought to myself that can i scan my academic results and B.tech certificate to rep Transcript/Mark sheet stated up there

Please just help me out...Headache all over me

(1) GRE and TOEFL is good to write. But since your chosen school does not require any of them. You don't have to write it. Though VOs often use that to guage your genuineness as a student and also your school reputation.
If you read the collated transcripts on this thread, you will find that sometimes the VOs will ask if the student wrote a test, at other times they won't. It would be too high a cost to pay to write those tests just because of visa interview. I would rather you prepare for good answers why you didn't write any test if the question gets asked.

(2) Ignore the term 'marked sheet'. It shouldn't get you to panic. The page where you got that from is asking you to upload your transcript. Unofficial transcript is the one the student supplied to the school by way of upload or email. Official transcript is the one that is sent directly from LAUTECH to your intended US school. Honestly, I don't know of any workaround for transcript. It is very crucial to admission decision. But someone suggested you try out your statement of result. Perhaps you should do that while you visit LAUTECH and try to work out your transcript.

(3) I guess (2) have answered that. I also suggest you email your school and let them know that you are working out your transcript while you upload what you already got.

All the best.
