Ekiti State Police Command, yesterday, said they had commenced mass raid of black spots and flash points across the 16 local government areas of the state to rid the state of criminal elements. The police commissioner in the state, Mr Bello Ahmed, who disclosed this to journalists in Ado Ekiti, said the directive was informed by incessant killings being recorded in some parts of the state in the recent times.



It would be recalled that former Personal Assistant to ex-Governor Segun Oni , Mr Bunmi Ojo and others were in killed in Ado Ekiti, the state capital within the last seven days. Ojo, a commissioner, who is representing Ekiti on the Board of Federal Character Commission (FCC) was killed on Friday’s night at a viewing centre in Adebayo Area of the state capital by unknown gunmen..............

An Ikeja High Court has dismissed the murder charge filed against Moshood Salvador, the Chairman of the Lagos State Chapter of the PDP.



Mr Salvador was remanded in the Kirikiri Prisons following his arraignment at a Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court alongside 10 others on a two-count charge of conspiracy and unlawful killing on July 25.

During Tuesday’s proceedings, the vacation judge, Obafemi Adamson, dismissed the charge after entertaining submissions from counsels in a counter suit challenging the charge filed by Salvador against the state.............

With the takeoff date of the new national carrier few months away, indications are that the staff of the defunct Nigeria Airways who are yet to receive their full entitlements may not be able to do so.

It would be recalled that the National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE) had vowed to resist the takeoff of Nigeria Air, unless outstanding entitlements, totaling N45 billion were paid to workers of the defunct Nigeria Airways, which closed down 14 years ago.

The Minister of State for Aviation, Hadi Sirika had dissociated the new national carrier away from the defunct Nigeria Airways, saying that there was no link between the two.

The U.S. military had unusually strong words for Beijing over social media on Saturday after recent reports that an American reconnaissance plane had been warned to “leave immediately” during a flight near China’s man-made islands in the contested South China Sea.

Reporters with CNN and the BBC had been given a rare chance Friday to look at the islets in the Spratly chain of the waterway from aboard a U.S. Navy P-8A Poseidon at 16,500 feet.

The Police Command in Enugu State has arrested a three-man Automated Teller Machine (ATM) fraud syndicate operating within Enugu city. In a statement on Friday in Enugu, the command’s spokesman, SP Ebere Amaraizu, said the police operatives recovered 30 ATM cards belonging to different individuals from the syndicate.


Amaraizu said the syndicate was smashed by the command’s Anti Cultism Squad who acted on a well-coordinated intelligence information.

Twenty-seven supporters of Zimbabwe’s MDC opposition party were released on bail on Tuesday over alleged violence at last week’s post-election protests that triggered a security crackdown.
