Sports / Re: FG Hands Over Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium To Enugu State by Eifeh(m): 12:01pm On Nov 06, 2013
passion007: The Federal Government, on Tuesday, formally handed over the management of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium to the Enugu State Government.

Speaking during the handover ceremony at the Government House, Enugu, the representative of the Federal Government and Director General of the National Sports Commission, NSC, Hon Gbenga Elegbeleye, said the event followed the approval by President Goodluck Jonathan, of an application to that effect made by the Enugu State Government.

He noted that the state had over the years collaborated with the Federal Government in maintaining and rehabilitating the stadium, adding that it made huge financial investments in the provision of vital facilities for the successful hosting of the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2009.

“This act convinced the Federal Government that the Enugu State Government was capable of maintaining the stadium in line with approved international standards”, he said.

Noting that Sports was a unifying factor and a tool for international diplomacy and creation of wealth, he enjoined other states in the country to emulate the Enugu State example in the development and maintenance of sports infrastructure.

He further commended the reactivation of the school sports by the State Government.

This, he said, would greatly enhance the discovery of talents for the benefit of the country.

Responding on behalf of the State Government, Governor Chime expressed delight at the return of the stadium to the State assuring that it would be better managed under the state ministry of Sports and Youth Development.

He said that his request for the return of the stadium was prompted by the decision of the Federal Government to sell some of the facilities there, adding that this had created anxiety in the State that the whole Stadium could be sold to outsiders.

The Governor, therefore, commended President Jonathan for his prompt response to his request and assured that the stadium would not only be well managed but would also be open to and accessible to all and sundry.

“All we are interested in is just to promote sports. Take our assurances on this to the Federal Government and be rest assured that the standard will go up rather than go down”, Governor Chime said.

Before i start
i
would
like
to
define
an
ambassador
from
a
layman’s
understanding,
“An
ambassador is one who
represent an entity” that’s
to say an ambassador is
an image maker, in other
words such a person must
be one who’s life will be
emulated by the entity he
is representing.
From the above analysis
IMO youths of which i’m
one of them are worried
about the appointment of
Adokiye kyrian Yvonne
whom we heard our
amiable Governor in His
wisdom have
appointment as an
ambassador of IMO
youths.
Personally i would
preferred names like
Acharaman, Chidimma or
Even kelechi Iheanacho
who’s is in far away Qatar
making IMO youth proud
in the ongoing World
Youth championship.
Though her maternal
Home is Oguta in IMO
state but my worries is
what is this fellow going
to represent IMO youth as,
going by her pictures i
have seen online, it does
not seem to me that this
lady’s ambassadorial post
would be greeted with joy
among well meaning
imolites.
For instance
werri the
IMO state capital is known
for Entertainment, its
surrounded with more
than 300Hospitality
industries which in turn
gives IMO people alot of
concern considering the
youths besiege these
hotels.
Having all these in mind
one would have expected
an ambassador who
would tell IMO youths
especially the ladies that
Engaging in prostitution
would endanger their life
and belittle their dignity
as a woman.
Unfortunately the young
lady i saw her profile isn’t
and can’t be one. A close
look at her picture is
enough to draw
conclusion on the path
she’s towing.
However i congratulate
her on her appointment as
IMO youth ambassador By
our Amiable Owelle

While I think Nigeria team is good, I seriously doubt Nigeria would be able to beat Ghana. Apart from the win against Ivory Coast Nigeria haven't faced any tough teams. The only tough teams nigeria faced was in confed cup and they didn't really impress me. Beating small african teams don't mean nothing. When was the last time Nigeria beat any team outside Africa.
when was the last time Ghana beat any team outside Africa? Ordinary Korea beat you 3 1
