Thank you for the response. I still require clarity on the visa application for my dependants.what is the process for their visa application and at what point should i commence the process; admission letter receipt, legalisation or RP process?
Emmanuelosa:

1: currently the only visa exemption, is for student resident permit, so unless your dependent is also applying for study, then they need a separate visa application. (but then you wouldn't be asking the question if that was the case.)

2: once the school waives legalization, for Nigerians, you still have to legalize your document as you still need some legalized documents for resident permit ( the waiver just means the part where you send your documents to the school after legalization, and before you apply for resident permit have been shifted to the beginning.
Like.

Before:
Legalization = admission letter = resident permit

After waiver:
Admission letter = Legalization = resident permit
(Though The waiver reduces the time for getting your admission letter, it's just by a couple of day,..or maybe like two to three weeks. So by that time you would be going through the legalization process.

This is as simple as it can get... smiley

I have been following this thread and it has been helpful however i need clarity .
I am currently been considered for a doctorate by AAU(Kalegenfurt) and i am awaiting my admission letter as the school was kind enough to waive the legalization process but rather accepted notarized copies of my documents.

Question 1. Can i apply for visas for my self and dependants simultaneously upon receipt of my admission letter.is this permitted as the plan is to travel together .

Question 2.For application to the embassy for the visa,do i have to go through the legalisation process that was waived by my school?
Please advise.

Thanks cheers.[author=hosey post=91623250]

I told you to forget about Plymouth as the city is filled with poverty. From your question, you want a city where you can get opportunities.

https://www.plymouthherald.co.uk/news/plymouth-news/one-three-plymouth-children-living-4084733.amp

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.plymouthherald.co.uk/news/plymouth-news/families-plymouth-poor-theyre-actually-3839516.amp

Plymouth is not reputable to industry too and lowest of the three. RGU is well respected in the oil and gas industry, it is well respected. Many top rated supervisors and well known in Petroleum Engineering. Aberdeen also has lots of opportunities in terms of job. Many industries as UK petroleum industry is at Aberdeen.

Nottingham is cheaper in terms of accommodation compared to Aberdeen. There are lots of opportunities too and multicultural.

But most importantly, choose the school with freindly and superb supervisor with
immense expertise in your research interest and who will support you. Remember, your main goal is to obtain PhD. Your supervisor determines if you will get PhD and not the school.

Good luck and cheers.[/quote]

Hi @ekaita

If you haven't gotten a proper and direct answer, speak to other students in these schools because the questions you are asking are general questions that undergrads and postgrads can answer , if there's a WhatsApp forum for these schools join in,if they have Ambassadors speak to them.

Addressing a few more, 1.You can modify details of your PhD study along the way 2. Systems are in place in schools to check if your supervisor is a racist or isn't supportive enough 3. Most PhD programs have more than one supervisor ( a primary and a co-supervisior) 4. You need a good rapport with your supervisor yes, but you call the shots because it is your research, the first year they help to guide,2nd year you are at par,3rd year it is your show 5.Doing your PhD doesn't limit your opportunity to get a job, for one thing it gives you a foot into the academia if you are interested in that field. 6.The grading for PhD is not same for masters( this one na another day talk)

Doing a PhD I agree is very stressful but if it is what you want don't let anyone here discourage you

Again if there are other things I can share from my study experience so far..please send an email i'll respond.

Cheers

Thanks for the feedback but quick question when you say RGU is more respected what exactly do you mean as the recent Ranking shows NTU as a top 50 school in the UK while RGU is almost number 100. Kindly explain the term more respected based on your opinion
hosey:

Good now you are talking. You should have said all these earlier as I dont want to hear any regret.

Robert Godon is much more respected and Aberdeen is cool. But it is in Scotland.

If you want England, then go to Nottingham as the city is also cool. Nottingham is cheaper than Aberdeen.

Forget about Plymouth.

Good luck and take care.

It's rather unfortunate as my question was clearly misunderstood. I never asked about PSW rather i asked about part-time work opportunities while studying and my other areas of concern such as nature of location, general cost of accommodation and other expenses.
Clarification on other areas which you have mentioned such as reputation of supervisor ,number of successful PhD programs, racism ,research area of interest etc have already been taken care of which is why my question was specific.

ekaita:

Thank you unfortunately my question has not been answered by the previous comment as the comment on picking a masters over a PHD does not correlate with my enquiry

1. Nottingham Trent University
2.Plymouth University
3. Robert Gordon University

Tuition is about the same for all schools while NTU is highly ranked compared to the others but i need more information as stated above so i can take a decision.
Kindly advise.

how old are the kids?,also while studying who will be taking care of the kids? In the event that they are very young, can u afford an average of about $4k/month daycare?. Speaking from the view point of the Vo, I also studied and graduated from Alabama.

The kids are 10 and 12 years old. I have 3 classes once a quarter as the rest of the time i will be doing my research so kids related issues is not a problem. I just need to understand the visa application process as my S.Alabama is currently working on the F1 and F2 for my dependents. Can i apply for us without my hubby as he intends staying in Nigeria? During the interview process so i need to take the kids along for the embassy interview?Kindly advise

Am surprised that people are judging Efe because he is crying. Agreed that he is drunk but his tears is obviously because of his brother's visit and the memories that came with it. When he said 25m no be money, he was referring to how he felt when he couldn't save bally as he believes in loyalty. People should just support their favorite and stop running others down as this will not make your favorite win the prize.

You are absolutely right. It is the four that are been conspired against. These two are playing the sympathy card but we are not stupid.

Honestly there is no ganging up here. Did you just listen to Tboss and Debbie's convo? It is sad how they are trying to play the sympathy card. Bally and Co didn't say anything wrong, they even went to the closet to console her only for her and tboss to be spitting bile. It's sad how big bro removed the camera from them as that short convo spoke volumes! !!!!
