Makes no sense really. With your absurd and unfortunate utterances and you repeatedly asserting the need to reach beyond your scope of duty and also to keep promoting and encouraging ignorance, it wasn't mistake, sounds more like your world and state of mind.

sexkillz: If you deliberately provoke a nairaland member by calling him aboki when he isn't your friend, you will be banned!

Where is the sense and wisdome here because this sounds very absurd coming from a mod. Is this not extrajudicial?

So, NL members are all enemies because you conducted a poll or terrestrially read everybody's mind to figure out if they meant insult or not?

Is this still a serious conversation cos it's getting very absurd..
Politics / Re: Eliminating Bigotry From The Politics Section. by ekoileee: 5:59pm On May 18, 2013
sexkillz: That's my point. Staying in my lanes means that I have to enforce those rules. Enforcing those rules means severely punishing anyone found contravening them. Contravening them might come from someone "deliberately provoking a nairaland member" (rule 2).

I am trying to reconcile everyone to avoid "I wasn't aware" comments that may ensue when I decide to stay in my lane fully. Some things are better avoided.

You are missing the point.

Advocating for members not to use unbanned words and condoning ignorance regarding unbanned words like Aboki is not staying in your own lane. It's needlessly inserting yourself where you don't belong.

Unbanned words and usage should be off limits to you and shouldn't be any of your concern regardless how many complaints or who's complaining.

Part of your job is to educate members and strictly interprete the rules as it is, not mixing up the rules and creating confusion. You create more problems for yourself and your members needlessly.

What I meant by the word Aboki shouldn't be any of your business since the word is allowed and you can not read and interprete my mind for me based om my usage of legally accepted words on NL.

Your lane is to deal with what is against the rules and not the other way around. You can not keep creating problems while at the same time trying to solve problems..

Demdem:

There are different cadres/class in the society. If mine or ur class doesn't fit in, be rest assured that some will fit in. Besides we already have ladies driving these trucks. Is it not the same lagos we have lady mechanics that are being celebrated. There is dignity in labour. Again I reinstate that nothing is wrong in ladies driving those trucks especially if they are new

Well said.

The same way women are driving trucks, say way they occupy and dominate important possitions all over...

The Lagos judiciary alone is dominated by women....

The old saying that what a man can do, a woman can do better is presently playing out in the Lagos State Judiciary. Before now, male judges and magistrates dominated the state judiciary just like in other states of the federation. Female judges simply took the back seat while their male counterparts took the leadership position. The situation has however changed as women are now in charge.

Statistics obtained by our correspondent from the state Ministry of Justice revealed that of the 184 judicial officers in the state judiciary, 128 are female. The statistics also showed that only 17 of the 52 high court judges in the state are men.

•Justice Ayotunde Phillips
Also, 11 out of the 13 judges next in rank to the state chief judge are women. The current chief judge, Justice Ayotunde Phillips, who is also a woman is closely followed in rank by three female judges. The CJ is closely followed in rank by her sister, Justice Atilade. The first ranking male judge is in the fourth position while the next male judge after him is in the 12th position.

The following is a list of the first thirteen judges in the state and how they stand in order of ranking: Justice A. A Phillips (Chief Judge) (F), Justice F.O Atilade (F), Justice O.O. Oke (F), Justice O.A. Adefope-Okogie (F), Justice K.O. Alogba (M), Justice D.T. Okuwobi (F) Justice A.O. Kayode-Ogunmekan (F), Justice Y.O. Idowu (F) Justice T.A. Oyekan-Abdullai (F) Justice Ojikutu-Oshode (F) Justice A. Olateru-Olagbegi (M) Justice D.O. Oluwayemi (F), Justice G.M. Onyeabo (F) and Justice O.A. Ipaye (F).

At the magisterial section of the judiciary the issue of female dominance is also the same. Statistics show that of the 14 chief magistrates (Grade I) only three are men while all the nine chief magistrates (Grade II) are women. Although the first two ranking magistrates are men, they are closely followed in ranking by nine female magistrates. Of the 16 chief magistrates (grade 11) only two are male while 14 are female. In the 57 senior magistrates (grade 1&2 categories) 19 are male while 38 are female. In the magistrates (grade 1&2) levels, 4 are men while 14 are female.

The foregoing statistics clearly show that women dominate in the state judiciary and going by the 65 years old retirement age for all civil servants and the Lagos State Government principle of appointment in the judiciary, the dominance of female judges and magistrates may continue for more than two decades.

Some lawyers who spoke to P.M.NEWS on the issue said the current dominance of women in the state judiciary has both positive and negative implications.

Barrister Robert Ikem in his comment said the development is a positive one for the state judiciary as women are less susceptible to corruption.

“I believe the development is a good one for the state judiciary. We all know that women are less susceptible to corruption. I am not saying that all men are corrupt but the fact remains that women are less likely to be corrupt than women. Secondly, I believe that women make better administrators than men. So in terms of effectively administering the judiciary, I believe the women will do better,” he said.

Another lawyer Mr. Benjamin Umudjoro, however, said the dominance of women in the state judiciary may not all be positive for the third arm of government.

Mr. Umudjoro said though women judges may be better administrators than their male counterparts, some women judges in the state are very lazy.

mutaalim: But truck driving is not befitting women

What do you tell a woman looking for a truck driving job? You say to her no that she can not because truck driving is not befitting for women?

Is this not sexist, prejudicial and discriminatory? I don't think the people of Lagos state want that kind of backward ways and culture..

sexkillz: Everyone has been wrong. We are looking for a way to rid ourselves of what has happened. How do we move ahead?

We can move ahead by you staying in your regulatory lane and let others stay in theirs.

Meaning, concern yourself with what is actually against NL rules and less about other people's emotional and sentimental cries.

Many words are allowed on NL, but some folks complain over everything and anything they don't like and not necessarily because other used banned words and references.

Agood examples of course is Aboki, Aboki is not an offensive word and it is only to folks who are trying to make it one.

There's a hit song in Nigeria as we speak titled Aboki, the singer sang about his frineds all over Nigeria at every level of the society. The writer and singer's stage name is Ice Prince and his real name Panshak Zamani born and raised in Niger and by all means he's true to the core Hausa.

You in a leadership possition shouldn't be part of this ignorance just because some members cried to you based on their own dubious and selfish reasons.

You can not infringe on other people's rights just to please others. NL has it's own culture and idiosyncrasies which you must know and look out for if you really care about your job.

Please don't get me wrong cos I'm not in any way trying to dump on you or tell you how to do your job, this is just my own take and reasonings based on my personal experience as a member.

I remember how Ibo folks on this very forum used to abuse Yoruba endlessly, start Yoruba related threads to bash Yoruba people, how they endlessly abuse and caricature Awolowo non stop and how NL admin and mods looked the other way and didn't lift a finger, but all of a sudden, tribalism and bigotry caught their attention in 2013 simply because the same people can not accept the ugly consequences of what they started and what NL leadership condoned endlessly.

We also sit here and read how the same people call anything and anybody Yoruba ugly and adulterated names like Tinubu till this very second, still the same mods and admin looked the other way.

The same people call people ugly names, but cry when the favor is returned.

Bigotry and tribalism is what by collusion the leadership on NL condoned but now trying stop and control with still a flawed one sided and biased approach which I find very disingenuous and sadly laughable because you not only are responsible for it, you are still aiding and facilitating it.

As for the new mod, have a word or two with your people because whatever you are trying to regulate emanates from them...

sexkillz: If I tell you the ways, I'll have to close this thread and ban defaulters according to my way. I don't want that, That is why I created the thread. I want people like you who have been accused of being bigots to tell us why you use such words on people, and why you feel you should continue using it even though you know it offends them.

What words are you talking about? Don't you have to tell people the so called words you don't like or want them to stop using?

You've been asked a million times what bigotry is and you are yet to articulate any meaningful response, buy you are still here going on and on about some vague and phantom words that you yourself can not even list.

This is just too tragic...

Still on the deployment of troops to the north, a poster said if the JTF could not push the fishermen into the ocean then they stand no chance against the warriors in the north.
With full respect to the fishermen, I dont think the appellation should be used to describe an ethnic group.
And posters with words like Retardeen, clueless, odechukwu in regards to the President should be dealt with or they would be answered in a more abusing manner.
.
BTW, pls do something about that font, it is too girlish for the more serious politics section

I actually laughed at this... This is the most.ridiculous and absurd nonsense ever. You people are.really getting carried away with this silliness..

How exactly do you define bigotry?

What constitute bigotry?

Who determines what is bigotry or not ? You or the person crying to you?

Bigotry is basically what you make it, its also a reflection of your own personal sense of security and social development because nearly all the issues people cry over are known, generic and historical stuff about their tribe that they don't like and.not necessarily bigotry.

The fact is, man ppeople on NL shouldn't be on the internet talk less engaging political discussions because they lack the proper social skills and temperament to do so. Sometimes it's like you are discussing with kids.

Unlike your the mod before you, how do you apply your vague bigotry rules? By blindly banning people based on other peoples cries because they don't like a post or do you have some kind of mechanism or bigotry detection in place before taking action for or against?

nuclearboy: Sorry but this is NOT a good move

I expected an INFORMAL STATE OF EMERGENCY - move in the big guns (if you want the entire Army, Navy and Air Force) all you want but don't make it official. Do NOT announce it.

What would that have cost? But ACN/CPC and the idiotic Northern Elders Forum said NO, so he had to 'prove himself", right?

NOW, all Boko Haram has to do is go someplace else and attack twice and everyone will scream "state of emergency" until those who hate him start to mock him with that as well. And if the boko haramists have any brains, that's what they will do. Just make random attacks in Rivers, Lagos and Abuja and effectively, Nigeria is an urban jungle, thanks to a good decision being implemented badly.

And if he backs down now or later from declaring states of emergencies all over, again the ridicule starts!

As I see it, this will end with the entire country becoming like as in Israel,o in a permanent State of emergency. And only BH will laugh because you just made them bigger

Unfortunately, this is the sad truth. Now they are going to start looking for soft Target to prove their point..
