I am still in Nigeria, but my friend that graduated from MUN said the school is isn't bad at all. As for 2:2 it is hard but not impossible. The school pay more attention to you final 2-3 semesters, so if you performed well there you stand a better chance. Again cases defer, just make sure you get the attention of a supervisor via your statement of purpose and you will good to go. Best of luck
Thanks mate smiley

MUN will be in a better position to tell you if you qualify for admission or not. Concerning the English language proficiency, cases defer. When I applied for admission I was admitted without sitting for any English exam, all I did was get a letter from my previous school stating I was taught in English language during my program and that worked. A friend of mine(in this same thread) didn't have same luck this year as he was asked to provide a result. So your case can only be judge by MUN alone
Boss, Guten Morgen!

i presume you are in MUN Already, How is the school like? Do they really Accept Second class Lower Cgpa from Nigeria? With well packaged Application?

I touched down this country to the waiting arms of my crying babe, it was damn emotional for the poor girl, and a Naija guy who was working with a top British firm here....I believe in NETWORKING 150%!! Before I came here, I had Naija guys wey know as e dey go on ground to network with, my woman dey wonder as I take dey run my matters self grin I started a language school to brush up more on my skills which I had been sharpening already in Naija...Her family loves me so much because I hit the ground running in terms of communication....If you came from a poverty background like me, you just have to be humble, well, excruciating poverty suppose humble anyone, that is one quality I have too: I started working part time, a small job that I got courtesy of my Naija guy here, and combining it with classes too.. Now I’m not going for MASTERS shocked the technical men, the hairdressers, the truck drivers, the skilled ones are the big boys here...professional jobs are here all the same, but aren’t easy my people, and certain restrictions apply e.g EU or non EU person...comments, questions etc!!!!

Am actually crying now why reading this, the poverty thing..

You will need to so some research.

Applying to business school is very different from applying to most other programs. You cannot just say "anything that has funding." You need to have direction and a clear strategy. What do you want to do?

You must be very specific in b-school application. what are your exact career goals? b-schools, especially the good ones, are extremely competitive and they do not want to waste slots on people who do not have a career strategy. So, what exactly do you want to do?
Alright, i understand you now smiley
My target really is to do Msc or MBA relating to my undergraduate degree which is Accounting, My target is to have CPA Accounting certification at the end,And practice over there After studies.

Any Accounting graduate in the house?

Are you Kyle xy that will be able to prepare for three exams within a limited frame of time?, that's a big waste of time. Since you need funding, it is highly recommended that you apply to a good school with an excellent test score. Although most schools accept both, some still prefer the GMAT over the GRE, it's therefore better that you take the GMAT so that you don't constrain your choice of schools because of your test score. However, if you've been preparing for the GRE for a reasonable period of time, just continue........just weigh all factors before making a decision.

Thank you for your response smiley

Actually my target is fall 2019,Good score on Gmat and toefl can it guarantee full funding?
Travel / Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 12 by eldee365: 11:15am On Oct 19, 2017

MBA's usually will not give full funding. They can give full-tuition but you must be a "great" candidate - meaning your undergrad GPA is very high (3.9 ish); You are hitting 750 in the GMAT; you kill your interviews; your recommendations; your professional accomplishments; your extracurricular activities; and most important "YOUR STORY" as told in your essays. The essays are very key - that's where you sell your past, present, and future ambitions.

If you do not even know what exams to write, you are late to the party. First deadlines have passed already; in fact, interview decisions for round 1 have gone out. Round 2 is around the corner; the further the round, the lower the scholarship dollars available.
Thank you for Responding, Actually am targeting fall 2019, i have Bsc Accounting, graduated last year.
Apart from MBA what other area of Accounts is okay for Msc

ps:Am a silent reader for sometime all these things are really confusing

I need your detailed contribution, i really need funding for Any of the schools Am applying to. cheers smiley

If you want to have good chances of been admitted in to an MBA program from a good school. Then it is recommended that you take the GMAT exam
I was preparing to write Gre and toefl, so should i forget gre outrightly? focus on just Gmat and toefl.

ps: i need full funding from the schools i pick, What do you advise? smiley
Or i should write all three exams?

Yes you can go from the US to Canada, or Canada to US if you want, so long as you get a visa.

You can go to do PHd in Canada directly from the USA if you are on a student visa and not tourist visa. You don't need to come back to Nigeria. And yes you can apply for PR even before you get to Canada. If you qualify now or after you finish your masters or Phd, you will get it.

Well said! In addition to the bolded, Canadian schools offer fully funded scholarships to graduate students. To get full funding as a master's degree student in the United States is a herculean task. Most of the funding packages in the United States are in form of graduate assistantships or research assistantships.

Hi,

i keep reading about full funding for msc students in Canada, i never seen someone a 2.2 graduate secure such funding here, can you please explain how possible it is for a 2.2 graduate to get admission and secure such funding
ps:No one here has ever explained this stuff in the real sense, i just keep reading don't go for pgd or pgc(never see any college with funding for pgd or pgc, still searching tho) stuffs like that, is it that no 2.2 naija graduate has gotten admission for msc in Canada before?

Actually it isn't a double standard. The VO knows that most Nigerian study permit applicants are likely to apply for PGWP and then get PR after their studies. They aren't stupid.

What the VO needs to know is whether you are the kind of person that would leave Canada "at the end of an authorized stay", e.g. will you go back to Naija if you don't get PGWP? will you go back to Naija if you don't get PR?

Since your application is for a study permit TRV, the VO is looking to you to convince him/her that you have very strong ties to Nigeria that would incentivize you to return to Nigeria if you can't legally stay in Canada anymore. At the time of your application, "end of authorized stay" is end of your studies. The onus is purely on you to convince the VO; this is how Canadian immigration law is written.

It is my opinion that the VO is more lenient with applicants who present themselves as organized, brilliant*, and visionary. You can have a third class and impress the VO mightily with the way you think and present your ambitions on how you would use your Canada education in Nigeria. Canadians want to keep improving their country, and would be more likely to approve a visa for an applicant that would be an asset to Canada.

Quick story: when I was in grad school in the US, a fellow grad student friend of mine went back home to the US embassy in Naija to renew his student visa. The VO asked him if he was coming back to Nigeria after his studies, my friend said "I don't know". The VO still approved his visa. While this is an extremely risky thing for an applicant to have said, my friend was at the time simultaneously a medical student and a PhD student (Google: "MD-PhD" ) at a Top-10 US university. The VO knew that my friend would be a significant asset to the US, so he still approved the visa.

Make it very difficult for the VO to deny you. It's a lot of work to pull this off if you are a complex applicant, but it's possible. Edited: I know someone, with a low 2:2, no job & no personal assets, who got approved for a TRV this year. He put together an amazing application. You can too.

*By brilliant, I'm not referring to your CPGA. I am referring to the way you present yourself to the VO.
Been a silent reader for sometime now, the person with 2.2 did he go for msc or pgd or pgc, Am curious!
What university?

you stated you did graduate studies in the USA, can you please explain how you ended up in Canada, is it through phd? is it possible incase one didn't succeed in the Canadian dream, can such person try Usa, come to Canada to do Phd and still end up with PR

don't mind my numerous questions!!

Thanks smiley

Hello Flosure,

I was refused/denied Canadian visa twice and I tried US once and I was approved in a minute of my interview with the VO. I think God is speaking to you but you're not hearing HIM. US might be your way. Try US and your dream will be fulfilled and you can enter Canada from US if you like.

To everyone who wait to hear from Canadian Embassy for at-least two months on the decision on your application. Keep the faith alive and be hopeful but I will advise/advice instead of waiting at least two months, try US and VO doesn't take forever to decide on your application.

#My one Kobo

Been a silent Reader, is it possible to do msc in USA, then proceed to Canada for phd, finally still get Canadian permanent Residency, Can you apply the Phd in canny from usa towards the end of the program or you would come back to Nigeria, to apply from here.

Thanks, patiently waiting for your response smiley

Ireland do not require any text and the cut off for scholarship is 2.1. But you can contact the school directly for financial based scholarship. Its better to apply directly to schools and constantly email them for any information. Pls don't pay any agent to help you secure admission, you can do it alone.
Thank you very much

do you think it will be a wasted effort, msc in finance with fully funded scholarships is my target...
