Religion / Did Jesus Want To Be Crucified, And Why? by elhakiimed(m): 1:10pm On May 25
Disclaimer: My posts are not to spite you nor your faith. I'm here for mature mutually respectful discussions, but please don't test my patience.

Here goes nothing:

Although, I don't believe in Jesus crucifixion in the way that Christians do (Mulsims belief it wasn't Jesus crucified, and he was instead raised alive amd his appearance cast on someone else), I'm curious about some details in your narration.

The Bible contains passages that reflect Jesus’ emotions and hesitations about his impending crucifixion. One of the most poignant examples is found in the Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus prays to God expressing his distress and seeking another way if possible.

Matthew 26:36-46: Jesus says, “My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.” This passage shows Jesus’ deep sorrow and his request to avoid the suffering if there is another way

Mark 14:36: Echoing a similar sentiment, Jesus prays, “Abba, Father, all things are possible for you. Take this cup away from me; yet not what I will, but what you will.”

Luke 22:42: Again, Jesus expresses his desire for the suffering to be taken away, saying, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me; nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”

These verses are evident of Jesus's fear of death, which insinuates his life and death isn't in his hands, as is supposed of a God.

Please clarify.

My response suffices for a sincere questioner. But you think you can justify your idol worship of Jesus by hanging on to muslim's purely symbolic practices. We never pray to it nor humans, angels, etc except Allah.

You can't say the same about your actions to Jesus nor the stones your idol worshipping kinsmen pray to.

It's not about what U say but your actions.
U can't be telling me it's wrong to pour libation for a stone but at the same time telling me it's ok to venerate and kiss the black stone in Mecca.
It doesn't make sense.

If fu disagree then tell me the difference btw the two below....

Everything associated with our faith is beloved to us. For example, Our mosque, Friday prayers, the Kaaba etc. Doesn't mean we lose our minds if a lunatic wanders in and urinates in the mosque or the blackstone goes missing tomorrow, or the actual mecca Kaaba gets demolished.

The stone is considered one of the miracles in islam, like the spring of zam zam. We interact with these things because our prophet, (perfect peace be upon him) interacted with them in those way, while we know fully well those actions were merely symbolic and not worship.

Our prophet said it's from heaven and kissed it , so we do the same. Cause we love the prophet. and we'll continue to do so.

We don't worship anything except the creator of all things including you and I, and Jesus (whom you ignorantly worship). We worship nothing and no one but Allah.

In Sahih Bukhari

Volume 2, Book 26, Number 675:
Narrated Zaid bin Aslam from his father who said:

"Umar bin Al-Khattab addressed the Corner (Black Stone) saying, 'By Allah! I know that you are a stone and can neither benefit nor harm. Had I not seen the Prophet touching (and kissing) you, I would never have touched (and kissed) you.'

But never in your life should U and fellow Muslims open your mouth waaa and call traditional worshippers pagans or idolaters because U are all in the same boat. Iru Kan Kan....

U even believe the stone can forgive your sins....

It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: “Touching them both [the Black Stone and al-Rukn al-Yamani] is an expiation for sins.”

Awon aborisa gbogbo, yet if Ogun worshippers venerate iron, Muslims will be shouting idolatry and fighting them.

I described Islam perfectly.

Cut the cap bro, there's no theology in islam. Islamic monotheism claim is very lame.
Zoroastrian was the first religion to believe solely in one God. The religion existed for more than 2000 yrs b4 Moses brought the Torah. Does that make it a true religion?
Muhammed as a prophet is ludicrous at best. Someone possessed by demon from birth, he grew up and started hallucinating- he thought he had sex with his wives when he didn't. He was desperate to pls his kinsmen that he gave in to satanic temptations and received revelation from the devil.
U Muslims took it a step higher by bowing down to a stone and going as far as locking the stone.
How's that different from African traditional worshippers who pour libation to stones when venerating their deity?
Islam is idol worshipping pure and simple.

My friend, no God died for anybody. A God cannot die.
If U don't understand trinity, ask your Christian friends.

Which Qur'an are U memorising, the one Muhammed gave U or the one Uthman gave U?
Conversion is across all board. Muslims who becoming atheist or joining other religions their mind deem fit. Its a free world.
Islamic religion is the one that looks for apostate to stone to death.

The bible speaks for itself. U read it and know the truth.

Its the Qur'an that requires u to learn Arabic to fully understand it. But that's enough, the Qur'an cannot stand alone. It needs the hadiths to get it right. But since hadiths are not reliable, contradictory and confusion; a Muslim must also read the tafsir not to misread the Qur'an. But that's still not enoughe because at the end of the day, only the scholars can interpret the Qur'an. The rest of u just have to believe what they say.

We know the religion that was spread by the sword right from the start. And we know how the first Christians spread the gospel at the risk of the lives and neck.
I'm even surprised U mention Asia as Christian because the continent is predominantly Muslim, Hindu and Buddhism. Its only in the last 50 yrs that Christianity has made inroad into the region.
Anyway Christianity is an individual race, number counts for nothing. So many people claiming Christians that are better off as atheist or non believer.

I'm not here to drag my faith or yours- each to his own belief. My initial respond is to correct your erroneous impression that Christian regard Islam.
Apart from apologetics and polemics amongst us, the rest of Christians don't care about islam. We only know U guys are synonymous with terrorism, and U can kill for your prophet or Allah.
U guys are the ones that live and breath Christianity because that's the only way your religion makes sense- attack Christianity.

How you spewed all of this nonsense knowing you're deliberately misinforming people is what I don't understand about Christian evangelists in your overzealousness.

Anyone with common sense would know that a religion that emphasizes the unity of God wouldn't allow worshipping a stone. All your arguments are stale, cliche, and unfit for modern comparative discussions. You'll find answers to your dubious claims online. I won't be party to your attempt at wasting time.

Which Christians need Islam to feel secure? Wetin concern us with a pagan religion.
If anything, it's Islam that needs Christianity to secure its validity. Without Christianity, Islam is empty. That's why U guys go about preaching using Jesus and not Muhammed.
I don't even know anything about your Koran except some few verses for polemics sake, but every Muslim must read the bible to understand why they are Muslims. Then they console themselves by saying bible is corrupt.

And U guys are extremely toxic and intolerant. Any small thing, next thing U start looking for churches to burn and Christians to kill. Kilode....

Anyway, Islam will soon be exposed as a fraud of a religion it is. A religion devoid of sound theology and consistent hermeneutics. Na some confused whites that are attracted to the poetic composition of the Qur'an given Una mouth for now. They will soon know how far....

Most other culture are running far away from Islam including middle east. The recent Iranian uprising really exposed u guys.

You've just describe Christianity in a terribly sad way.

Islam is consistent in its theology. Worship One God and acknowledge His Prophets.
Vs
Christianity thinks God had to die for the God to overcome evil and forgive his own creation.

Quran is committed to memory by millions just as Allah promised, to make it easy to comprehend. Today some non-muslims read it themselves alone and converts.

Vs

Bible, with unknown authors, and try-hard preachers trying to push their own narratives to their sheep congregation.

You know it and everybody knows that without Africa and Asia, Christianity would probably be non-existent in 10 years. It's downhill from when you all have no power to force it down people's throats.

You're not that guy, and your faith isn't that Religion.

What you said is the truth, but have you ever wondered why, Islam started out as a Jewish contraption to counter Christianity, they were first called nassarans, an order the prophet himself came from, most of the Islamic traditions came from Jews who themselves taught and encouraged Mohammed, the resistance of Jews to Christianity came from the fact that there expectations of the Messiah was completely different from what Christ did on earth, they expected a Messiah in the form of a general, under whose command, their army can't be defeated, a personae that can free them from their Roman oppressors, but Jesus came for a different purpose, to save humans from enternal damnation, spiritually, not physical freedom, these misconception makes the Jews to reject messianic personae, jesus presents.

The major denominations of Judaism—**Orthodox, Conservative, Reform, and Reconstructionist**—do not recognize Messianic Judaism as a form of Judaism.

It emerged in the 1960s and 1970s from the earlier Hebrew Christian movement and has been associated with evangelical Christian groups.

Messianic Jews consider themselves to be practicing a form of Judaism, but the broader Jewish community and its religious authorities do not recognize it as such, viewing it instead as a branch of Christianity.

In general, mosques are dedicated spaces for Muslim worship, and Islamic tradition reserves mosque worship primarily for Muslims. However, the question of the permissibility of Non Muslims using the space for prayer due to necessity is an interesting one.

Jews consider praying in the Church for any reason abominable, but the mosque is okay.

The aim of this post isn't to care for whatever non-Muslims believe, but to expose how glaring the misguidance of Christianity is in realm of Abrahamic faith.

Shaik Abdullah, in his book called ‘Biography of the Prophet’ detailed how the ishmaelites came as settlers in the land originally owned and occupied by the QUATANS (Englicised as JOKTAN)

Settlership is neither ownership nor aborigines-hip. The geography of how book of Jasher (which is more detailed than Genesis) did not record the sojourn of Abraham in the land of Arabs.

Meanwhile, Abraham was originally from the land of UR in the present day Iraq. ‘The land of Iraq’ (Mesopotamia) is what most people are mistaking for ‘Land of Arab’.

The Iraqis aren’t Arabs but Medes (old historical name) while the Iranians are Persians.

It is being alleged that some Christian’s sanctioned and practiced some of those claims, but history has it that they couldn’t find a single Bible passage to support their claim.

I strongly support that no 1 about the Great Crusade that was launched to reclaim the Holy Land from the Muslim infidel between 1056 - 1296. The Abrahamic race has nothing to do with the Arabian origin of Islam. JOKTAN was the father of the Arabians and not Ishmael as being claimed.

Ishmael, a son of Abraham couldn’t have fathered the Arabians historically. JOKTAN, who was a son of Eber was the first man to settle in the Arabian peninsula of today.

Please facts. Your history from Jungle book doesn't cut it. Abraham took Hajar and her son to Bakkah (today Makkah) while people already lived in Arab lands. Makkah was desolate but with their arrival, the miracle of the blessed spring, Zam Zam, occured, bringing more people to the area. Ishmael was the ancestor of the prophet, peace be upon him, and many Arabs, but not all Arabs. Arabs are a diverse group of people and Ishmael is a symbolic ancestor.

Yorubas calling oduduwa their ancestor is symbolic, not strictly biological.

Disclaimer: The following are historic educational facts with some commentary. Keep your comments on topic, and be respectful as this post isn't intended to spite or for argument.

The manifestation of our various conceptions come in gradations, from immensely beneficial to overwhelming extremism. Christianity like many belief systems has its values reviewed for centuries.

Here are some notable periods and instances of Christianity influence of Supremacist ideologies and Racism:

1. **Crusades (1096-1291):**
- The Crusades were a series of religious wars sanctioned by the Latin Church, aimed at reclaiming the Holy Land from Muslim rule. These campaigns were marked by a sense of Christian superiority and a mission to spread Christianity by force.

2. **Reconquista (711-1492):**
- During the Reconquista, Christian kingdoms in the Iberian Peninsula sought to reclaim territory from Muslim Moors. This period saw the rise of Christian nationalism and a drive to purify the region religiously and ethnically.

3. **Spanish Inquisition (1478-1834):**
- Established by Catholic Monarchs Ferdinand II of Aragon and Isabella I of Castile, the Inquisition aimed to root out heresy and enforce Catholic orthodoxy. This often led to persecution of Jews, Muslims, and other non-Christians, reinforcing a supremacist view of Catholicism.

4. **Colonial Era (16th-19th centuries):**
- European colonial powers, particularly Spain, Portugal, France, and Britain, justified their expansion and domination over indigenous peoples in the Americas, Africa, and Asia through a belief in the superiority of Christian civilization. This era was marked by missionary work aimed at converting indigenous populations and eradicating local religions and cultures.

5. **Manifest Destiny (19th century):**
- In the United States, the concept of Manifest Destiny held that American settlers were destined to expand across North America. This belief was partly rooted in a sense of Christian providence and superiority, which justified the displacement and oppression of Native American peoples.

6. **Ku Klux Klan (1865-present):**
- Founded in the aftermath of the American Civil War, the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) is a white supremacist organization that has used Christian imagery and rhetoric to justify its racist and anti-Semitic ideologies. The KKK's cross burnings are a particularly infamous example of this appropriation of Christian symbols.

7. **Nazi Germany (1933-1945):**
- Although the Nazi regime was officially secular, it co-opted Christian rhetoric and sought the support of Christian churches to promote its agenda. Some Nazi propaganda framed their ideology as a defense of Western Christian civilization against perceived threats from Jews and communists.

8. **Apartheid in South Africa (1948-1994):**
- The apartheid regime in South Africa was supported by certain Christian denominations, particularly the Dutch Reformed Church, which provided theological justification for racial segregation and white supremacy.

These periods highlight how Christianity has been used at times to justify and perpetuate supremacist ideologies. However, it is important to note that many Christian leaders and movements have also opposed these ideologies, advocating for equality and justice.

Yes, it used to be a thing amongst well to do aristocrat yoruba families of 1980s. Mostly rich fathers, although commoners with very old parents do it as well.

Older generations of yoruba kiss on the lip as a symbol of endearment between parents and child. It's not very common today.
