It was reported that a 16-year-old girl who is Identified as Agness Katenga and also a student of Lunga Day secondary school In Mwinilunga district of Northwestern Province, Zambia committed suicide after she was being accused of stealing three new underwear that belonged to her mother.

It was stated that Agness was said to have sneaked out of the house around 8pm on saturday, January 30 after she was beaten by her mother Lucy Kayombo after she was accused of stealing and she was found as she hanged herself on a mango tree.

A statement issued by the Police in Northwestern Province, said Agness was angered by the accusation. Police added that they visited the scene and suspected no foul play.

While she was speaking to a local media in Mwinilunga on Monday afternoon, a family source claimed that the pants were later discovered in the mother's suitcase.

According to the source, the deceased's mother bought the underwear last week Wednesday, put them in a suitcase then forgot because she was busy.

"When she wanted to wear one of them, she searched in four other bags except the other old suitcase and found nothing. So she decided to call her daughter, whom she then accused of having stolen her new underwears. When she denied, the mother beat her up. The girl got annoyed and later hanged herself in a mango tree at night." the family source said.

A Male student of Delta state Polytechnic who is identified as Frank Ochuko was murdered by some group of Cultists in delta state

On January 27, President Muhammadu Buhari signed an executive order that any one who fails to follow the COVID19 protocol will be asked either to pay fine or be sentenced to 6months in Jail.

According to the statement that was released by President Buhari, It says;

“The Presidency is worried by reports of non-compliance with just signed executive order that makes mask-wearing and observation of social distancing in the public mandatory, appealing to Nigerians to give their maximum cooperation for the success of the policy,” the statement read.

President Muhammadu Buhari introduced the order with the best of intentions and not with any motive to punish citizens.

According to the reports, A 27 year old man, Festus Stephen has been arrested and also charged to court for killing his friend who is identified as Abbas Mohammed Gudus, over a fight on iPhone.

It was stated that the Incident happened in Adamawa state.

Festus Stephen, a staff member of Adamawa State Ministry of Health, attached to Health Services Management Board in Mubi, is currently standing trial before Justice Helen Hammajoda of High Court 2, Yola, for stabbing Gudus to death.

It was also gathered that He was charged to court on two counts, robbery, contrary to and punishable under section 1(2) (b) of the robbery and firearms (Special Provision) Act cap R11 laws of the Federation, 2004.

According to Festus Stephen he said he met Mohammed Gudus in 2011, and since then, they became friends.

The suspect said on October 27, 2018, at about 7:30 pm in Mubi, he and the deceased decided that he (the deceased) should go and buy food, while he (Stephen) should go and purchase codeine syrup for consumption.

Festus Stephen explained that he bought the victim's iPhone which costs 40,000 naira and he paid the money, but the Mohammed refused to give him the Phone after he paid.

According to him, some minutes after taking their codeine syrup, Mohammed brought out the phone from his pocket to make a call. While he was making the call, the Stephen brought out a knife and stabbed him on his neck.

"We told them, just drink water and go; I did not allow them. Later, they would come in the night, eat our maize and go. I complained to their people more than 10 times. Later still, elements of the same people kidnapped me.

"When people say they were Fulani kidnappers, they ask you, how do you know they are (Fulani)? But everybody knows a Fulani man. Fulani himself knows himself. They are not children. When they were brought to court, they said they were Fulani themselves and most of them were jailed by the court.

"I have been at the receiving end a lot of times. After I was kidnapped, they came back and killed one of the guards – Ayo. They killed him, opened his chest and took away his heart.

"The double-barrelled gun, they took it away from him and killed him. It is still an unresolved murder case with the police.

“Is it economic? I am an economist myself. They burnt the non-crop area because the grass was already dry. Cows don't eat dry grass. They burnt it so that fresh grass will grow. They were already breeding my grass as if it was their land."

Falae noted that a number of other herdsmen vandalised farms not for the purpose of grazing their cows but out of malice and deliberate sabotage.

"Last year, they burnt my oil palm farm. I videoed it to the Commissioner of Police. I played it also at the Afenifere meeting.
"Why did they do that? To do something that does not enhance their own welfare. I believe they have malice against me. They hate the farmers," Falae added.

The kids who also confessed in court, said Halima Jonta and the other woman now at large asked them to tie the three-year-old and put a stone in her stomach. They also confessed that the soul of a dead person was planted in the 3-year-old girl.

While Halima was revealing everything, she said they have untied her and removed the stone in her, the kids said the death image in her remained because removing it was beyond their power and only Dudu who is on the run can remove it because she planted it.

The Criminal Area Court 1 judge, Hon Umar Gangs who ruled on the case expressed anger that little children still who are still far from adulthood were introduced into witchcraft. He ordered that Dudu should be found by all means and brought before the court. A Farm which Worths Multi Millions of Naira and also owned by the Maize Growers Processing Marketer Association Of Nigeria (MAGPAMAN) has been destroyed by suspected herdsmen in Ekiti state.

According to DailyTrust reports, It was reported that the farm covering about 235 hectares of land is at the state forest reserve in Aduloju farmstead located along Ado-Ijan road in Ado local government area of the state.

While Speaking, The State Secretary of the Association, Tope Emmanuel said that the herdsmen has been threatening the farmers last week leading to the destruction of the maize farm.

Tope Emmanuel said the herdsmens stormed the farm at night with dangerous weapons to feed their cows and, “all efforts to stop them have been rebuffed.”

He also added saying that members obtained about N6.6m loan from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) under the anchor borrowers’ programme in September to plant the maize, adding that the 160 members had been left with nothing to cultivate.

Also confirming the incident, the Ekiti Amotekun corps commander, Brig-Gen Joe Komolafe (retd) said “We are handling the situation.”

According to the reports, The Vice Principal of the Kadandani Community School in the Rimi Local Government Area of Katsina State has been arrested after raping and Impregnating a 12yr old girl.

While he was speaking with the Journalists in Hausa Language at the Kastina Police headquarters; He said
“I am being accused of committing rape and it’s true I committed the crime. I have been having affairs with the girl for eight months ago now. I used to take her to my house and offer her the sum of N300 of N500; some other times, I would give her N200 to have sex with her.

“Information reaching me right now is that the girl has been delivered of a baby boy for me. I have three wives.”

Tukur and the other suspects were arrested between January 9 and 14, 2021.

The spokesman for the command, SP Gambo Isah, told journalists during the parade that the vice-principal was arrested on January 9, 2021 following a formal report at the Rimi Divisional Police Headquarters by one Ibrahim Sani.

Isah said Tukur took advantage of the victim to impregnate her.

“The vice-principal, who is married to three wives, used to take the girl from the school to his house, where he had serial sex with her. As a result, he got the girl pregnant and she was delivered of a baby through caesarean section.”

Other suspects paraded included Auwal Hamzat and Sulaiman Abubakar, who were alleged to have sodomised three boys, who were children of their neighbours.

The neighbours reported the incident to the police, leading to the suspects’ arrest.

One Ishiaku Sani, 25, was also paraded for a similar offence.

Sani was alleged to have also sodomised the six-year-old son of his neighbour, who reported the incident to the police on January 10.

A Retired Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Uganda, Rev. Stanley Ntagali has been suspended for having an affair with a married woman.

It was reported that Stanley Ntagali was the 8th Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Uganda before handling it over to Kazimba on March 1, 2020 as he clocks the age to retire.

According to a letter dated January 13, 2021 from the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda Most. Rev. Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu, the retired Archbishop Ntagali has been accused of involving in an extra-marital affair with a married woman and he (Ntagali) has acknowledged.

It reads below

"This adultery is a grievous betrayal on many levels. Retired Archbishop Ntagali has betrayed his Lord and Saviour, his wife and their marriage vows, as well as the faith of many Ugandans and global Christians who looked up to him to live the faith he proclaimed,” the letter sent to the Anglican Bishops under the Global Anglican Future Conference (GAFCON) reads in part.

Kazimba added that the Church of Uganda has approximately 13 million members, all of whom have ‘sinned and fallen short of the glory of God,’ as the Bible reads in Romans 3:23 but the Church has to hold its leaders more accountable to the standards that they are called to uphold.

Kazimba said in the letter that he had informed Ntagali about the suspension and that Ntagali will not be allowed to perform any priestly duties such as preaching, function sacramental or represent the Church of Uganda in any way until further notice.

Kazimba also urged the Church of Uganda to send prayers to the spouses in both relationships, for repentance and healing to those who have committed adultery and for justice and forgiveness to flow.

It was announced that the Federal Government deadline for Citizens to link their National Identity Numbers to their SIM cards expires today.

Over 29 million sim cards have not been linked.

During an Interview with DailyTrust, A Federal Government official stated that over 176m SIM has been linked to their owner NIN.

Nigerians who took to social media warned of the consequences of disconnecting millions of Nigerians from using their sim cards.

The government had given January 19 and February 9 deadlines for subscribers already with NINs and those without NINs respectively to link their SIMs with their unique identity numbers.

The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Ibrahim Pantami’s spokesperson, Uwa Suleiman, did not respond to Daily Trust’s enquiry seeking to know what would be the fate of those who failed to do the linkage before the deadline.

The Nigerian Communications Commission had said there would not be mass disconnection of telecom subscribers as a result of the ongoing linkage of NIN records to SIM Registration.

“A recent survey conducted in Nigeria has shown that on average, there are now approximately 4 to 5 SIMs to every human subscriber.


“This explains the basis of allowing the linkage of up to 7 SIMs to 1 unique NIN in the recently launched Federal Government Portal”, NCC had said in a recent statement.

While reacting to the expiration date, many Nigerians have dared the federal government to go ahead with SIM deactivation while many others lamented their inability to complete the process.

According to @ChibuikeChined4: “You cannot, and should not force the citizens who made the choice to buy phone and SIM network to register for what you couldn’t make easy and accessible to all Nigerians. This is indeed end time saga.”

“Is this how to address the citizens of the country.. I no blame una sha,” @OLUBUKOLA said.

The Former Governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha stated that he and other Politicians are muting a new political order ahead of 2023 election.

According to the Nation reports, he stated that this is as a result of the silent concerns and complaints across the country against the current state of the nation.

Rochas Okorocha, who represents Imo West, recently agitated thw controversy when he called for the good people in APC and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to come together and rescue Nigeria in 2023, while commissioning projects in Rivers state, at the instance of the State governor, Nyesom Wike.

The former governor insisted that the country needs political re-engineering, warning that Nigerians cannot be fooled again by mischievous politicians in 2023.

According to him, He said: “The movement for a new Nigeria has begun and we must come together, I mean progressive Nigerians to make the country work." Okorocha, however, said that the APC was hurriedly formed to take power from the PDP without much emphasis on the character of those championing the course.
