Right, I am starting to upload pictures in a minute.

Is it possible for a mod to please put this as a sticky? It may help those who want to built a PC too. Thanks.
Computers / Re: Which Mini Laptop Is Advisable? Pls by ElRazur: 4:55pm On Mar 24, 2011
When you are talking about mini laptops (Or to use the right term - Netbooks) performance is not what would be on your list. Unless off course you want to spend over the odds, which defeats the objective then.

Most netbooks (mini laptops) are not allowed to go beyond the 1.6mhz due to something to do with Microsoft and intel. Don't get me wrong, you can find laptop with overclocking abilities, but your typical specification of a net book are usually similar. That is the tend to run, Intel Atom processor, usually 10-11inches of display, a gig of ram and 3-6 cell battery.

I wont' bother with a netbook running windows 7 as they are very slow. Windows XP is a better choice.

Regardless of what you get, make sure the battery is at least 5-6 cells (You can see this on the battery info itself) This means that you would have long time use in between charges.

I have Samsung NC10, but I only now use it if am in bed. I needed a bit of more power and still something very light, so I got myself the Asus UL30. It is a cross between a mini laptop and a full blown laptop.

It comes with 3gig of ram and I get over 10hrs of use on a single charge. (This means I don't take my charger with me, when I'm going out)

Good luck.

Thanks. It was an oversight on my part! I currently have Saffire Pro 14 sound card.

I also have the Audiophile2496 in my old music pc.

By the way, my music pc is finished now, I would post photo updates as it was been built.
Computers / Re: Putting Together/building A Music Pc. (PICTURES ADDED! PROJECT COMPLETED I HOPE) by ElRazur: 3:57pm On Mar 09, 2011
^^^ Thanks. Apologies for the over sight.

I already have the sound card covered. In fact, I recently ordered a Focusrite Pro 14 (See details below)

I also happen to have the M-Audio Audiophile 2496 in my old music computer. Due to have having more inputs - NI Maschine (Groove machine, drum machine etc) and a Roland Juno G work station, plus a Pro studio mic - I had to upgrade from it.

Here is the Forcusrite pro 14

http://www.focusrite.com/products/audio_interfaces/saffire_pro_14

Key features

Two high-quality award-winning Focusrite preamps
The best sounding interface in its class. Focusrite's 25-year legacy forms the foundation of this new interface, with two award-winning preamps.

High-quality 24-bit/96kHz FireWire interface
Features professional conversion and JetPLL™ jitter elimination technology, guaranteeing pristine audio quality and reliable synchronization.

Total I/O count of 8 inputs and 6 outputs
A host of I/O options are provided, including a unique Loopback facility for routing audio between software applications via Saffire MixControl.

Saffire MixControl ultra-low-latency DSP mixer/router
Provides an 18 x 6 DSP mixer with excellent routing flexibility, intuitive one-click configurations, and lower than 1.4ms latency (less than the time it takes sound to travel two feet through air!).

Focusrite VST/AU Plug-in Suite, for use in the mix
Upgrade your standard sequencer effects and bring a touch of class to your session with Focusrite Compression, Reverb, Gating and EQ VST/AU plug-ins.

Xcite+ Software Bundle
Featuring a host of royalty-free loops and samples, a full-fledged soft-synth and Ableton Live Lite 8, providing an affordable upgrade path to Ableton Live.

Secondary features

Two Hi-Z instrument inputs
No need for a separate DI. The first two channels feature high-gain instrument inputs.

Bus-powered for a tidy mobile recording rig
Saffire PRO 14 can be powered via FireWire, or via its own power supply.

Dedicated front-panel headphone bus
Providing a fully customised monitor mix, with tactile level control available on the front panel.

Tactile Monitor dial
A front panel volume dial provides immediate control over the main stereo outputs.

Switchable phantom power
Across both mic pre inputs, globally switchable direct from the front fascia.

Software PFL
Allows the mix engineer to easily monitor a single mixer channel or complete mix.

Focusrite Plug-in SuiteBack top
Saffire PRO 24 includes the Focusrite Plug-in Suite, produced by the same team that who developed Novation's nio FX rack and Saffire PRO 40 Control. They provide the perfect upgrade from your standard sequencer effects with all-new Focusrite Compression, Reverb, Gating and EQ VST/AU plug-ins, for use in the mix.

Each plug-in has a host of presets that provide a reasonable starting point, delivering suitable solutions for the chosen sound source. Having selected a preset, you can then go on to finely tune these settings.

The compressor and gate have been modeled on the Focusrite's hardware devices, using the measurement of custom optos to achieve the signature Focusrite sound. (All Focusrite optos are tuned by ear, just like in the old days of analog design, ensuring a faithful recreation of those classic vintage 1960s optical compressors.)

With the same signature as the original Focusrite EQ curves. Focusrite's R&grin team used state-of-the-art numerical transform techniques to create an authentic response across the entire audible frequency spectrum for this software EQ.

Simply put, it is able to take all the inputs I currently have and may be more.

Hello everyone.

I am currently in the processing of building a computer, and I thought it would be nice to share the experience with the nerds around here.  As the name suggest, the computer build is mainly for music and perhaps a bit of photo-editing once in a while.

Here are the current specifications of things I expect in a few days time: (Please bear in mind, a few things may change)

Motherboard
Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3 AMD 770 (Socket AM3) Motherboard

Processor
AMD Athlon II X4 640 Quad Core 3.0GHz Socket AM3

Graphics Card
ATI Radeon 5450 512MB GDDR3 PCI-Express

Power Supply Unit
PowerStation Gaming 500W Silent ATX2 Modular Power Supply

Hard drive (x2)
Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB 16MB Cache Hard Drive SATA 6Gb/s <8.9ms 7200rpm

RAM (x2)
4 Gig DDR3 PC3-10666C9 1333MHz Single Channel Kit

CPU Fan/Cooler
Arctic Cooling Freezer 13 CPU Cooler

Operating system
Windows 7 64bits.

Other added bits includes

An Optical drive
Wifi Pci card
A tower case
24inch Full HD lcd monitor

I have opted to put all of these together myself, even though my last build was about three years ago or so. Wish me luck.

Once the items are delivered, I will post a picture and update this thread as the build goes along.

I will appreciate tips and what not from experienced people. Thanks.

First, it was about trying to control what I can or cannot say on a forum! And now it is about grammatical errors!! I suppose the bitterness is really getting to you now. . .Wth??  As I mentioned before, you are a sad little boy.  Take time in enjoying your sad existence on here.

Go on and have the last say, it is not worth dignifying you with a reply again sir.
Video Games And Gadgets For Sale / Re: Gadgetville And Fraud by ElRazur: 3:44pm On Mar 07, 2011
What a sad little boy. Enjoy your mediocrity, it still do not stop me from saying what I deem fit, provided it is within the rules.

The reason behind your bitterness is clear to see, but that's your prerogative, not mine.

texazzpete:

That's an Android Tablet, not a 'Tablet PC'. There's a huge difference.
Secondly, there's nothing really 'Nigerian' about this; from the screenshots I saw, it looks just like a rebadged version of a generic Android tablet that's been rebadged by many other companies such a viewsonic.

Gbam.

Glad you mentioned it. I do not see how this is Nigerian in anyway. Any one able to place an order of 1k unit from manufacturers in China and Taiwan can get the same thing with a customised (generic) linux on it.

I guess this is just another "invention" of Nigeria like the guy who "invented" "fueless" generator or something. Smh.

Music/Radio / Re: Watch! World Video Premiere: D’banj Ft. Snoop Dogg – Endowed (remix) by ElRazur: 12:08pm On Feb 10, 2011
This is a chance to do something real different, but I am not sure it was achieved.

Good on snoop, his status will be enhanced in Naija at least and this translate to more money when he goes on tour.  It is amazing how business decision allows the most unlikely of artist to feature together. I guess this is an end of era for snoop.  .   .  I mean will this have happened during the time he was on top assuming all things are equal?

I have a problem with the auto-tune thing as usual. Also sound almost the same as the orchestra strings used. undecided

It will be nice to go back to the time of having fun, as oppose to now that everyone wants to be a rapper and release a record. Anyway, if anyone is still down for having fun halla at me, we may knock a song or two together. cool

I was just going through my old files and I came across these songs that members on here did as fun about a year a go or so. Credit to all those who participated.

Nah you get your mouth. ElRazur and Krayola

Flowshow. Chamotex and Krayola

(If memory serves me right, I think this song sent the whole of the music section nuts that day. The genius of Krayola cannot be denied. He is an ALL ROUNDER. And credit to Chamotex too, he did well. He is not a rapper but having fun)

I think this was a track I made that was meant to be a nominated track for the "Nairaland mixtape" but with so much hatred and non-cooperation going on then, it wasn't meant to be.

Anyway, drop your views and if you have any "classic" track made in/on nairaland to share, let us hear it.

Thanks,

I have a feeling the forum promotes homosexuality.

What do these have to do with the price of tea in china?

Gaming / Re: Pro Evo Mini League On Psn And Nairaland? by ElRazur: 4:43pm On Feb 04, 2011
See desperation as usual. shocked how can you claim you won two games when one game you are counting as your second win was disconnected. If a match was abandoned, I am not sure the team leading will count it as a win.

Don't worry I will start writing the scores again.
Gaming / Re: Pro Evo Mini League On Psn And Nairaland? by ElRazur: 4:18pm On Feb 04, 2011
Hmmm. Konami server?

Anyway, I beat you two games to one and one or two was a draw. (And there was a disconnection)

I think action speak louder than words.

I will teach you some more lesson tonight.

So talking me out when I have clearly beaten you is fair play? Right I get it now. I will adopt such tactics.

I'm online. Come over.

My style is one dimension? Dude, I don't even score headers. What are you talking abut? Anyway, I am online, come and let's see what you can do.
Gaming / Re: Pro Evo Mini League On Psn And Nairaland? by ElRazur: 1:01pm On Feb 04, 2011
You logged off.

I won the first three and you won the last two. Also, you are playing dirty. You have a habit of slide tackling my player when it is a one-on-one situation with the keeper. You have done this like four times and yesterday's attempt was just desperation on your path.

You may think you are good, but your game is very basic. Looked at when you played spurs v spurs against me, you game was basic. You do not know how to pass, make chances or do team work. All you do is try to run and funny enough, there is no messi-like player in Spurs and hence you lose.

Like I said, your game is very basic - knock it to the wing and look to run.

By the way, I don't think you are leading by 9 games as record showed that you have played against the new members which I haven't. You probably lead me by couple of games but no more.

If you keep resulting to desperation and taking out my player when you are losing, then I will play less games with you. This is meant to be fun, but you are ruining it. Get some skills and learn to pass etc. then you won't need to result to dirty tactics.

Abeg. If he good, he good pass you. Nah only dey use barca remember? Even using Barca, you no fit score 7 pass me on my bad days and lately my form is dipped. But no way u go put 7 pass me. Kilode.

I'm not home o. Maybe tmrw.
Gaming / Re: Pro Evo Mini League On Psn And Nairaland? by ElRazur: 3:40pm On Jan 29, 2011
So backlight is just as rubbish as you too?

Tb7 u fit play without Barca?

I think we go organise a tournament and the rules will be simple, exclude all the top four teams from all the leagues around the world. You know, a tournament that will comprise of nothing but skill, and not just run with messi and shoot.

Dude the Social Cohension and group dynamic in Nigeria is not strong in any Political sense
at the grassroot/Base or at the top, and the running elite in Nigeria ie the Military Elite  a.k.a Nigerians
shadow Goverment know this,

The case is totally different in North Africa,

Look at my Last Post, digest what i am saying and then get back to me,

This is about the most sensible thing you have said all night. Please keep it up.

I mentioned what you are now saying in my first post in this thread, and I went as far as using myself as an example of how I have no desire or strong urge to die for nigeria (a death that may perhaps bring about change or catalyst to change I am talking about here)

In my opinion, I feel things have to be really bad before we can see anything close to a mass protest. Having said that, the mind set in which my people have can be counter-productive to any feeling of mass protest. After all, things were worse under most military rule and my people did nothing.
