Hello House,

I got a letter from the German Embassy via FedEx at my home address yesterday regarding the appeal I filed last Tuesday regarding my student visa rejection. They said in the letter that my student visa application verdict remains the same on the following grounds:

1. I presented a passport with forged visa and stamps which made the passport non-visa compatible and that I am yet to present a genuine and authentic International Passport that is visa-compatible.

2. Even if I was to be granted the visa, that there was no way I could have met up with classes for Winter Semester considering when I had my interview and when lectures was to commence, i.e October 13th even though I had been granted an enrollment extension by the host institution.

With regard to the first ground, I already explained in my appeal that it was the visa agent who procured my expired S/African visa some 2 years back that added the fake Israeli visa and stamps on my passport when I contracted him to help me secure the former.

On the second ground, I had my interview on October 2nd but they claimed it was on the 7th; fat lie!

Its common knowledge that sometimes visa issuance does not take more than 2 to 3 weeks and if that is anything to go by, I would have had till the end of this month to get the visa but for the problem with the passport so that excuse does not hold any water at all.

Now the issue is this: I was advised to appeal to the Administrative Court if I am not satisfied with the decision within 30 days. This was in the translated copy accompanying the original copy which was in German and was even advised to get the document translated in English and I keep wondering if there is anything on the original document which was not included in the translated copy and I have uploaded it here for my ogas who are well versed in German language to translate it for me in English, verbatim for verbatim if possible so I will get a good grasp of what the document is all about before I will start reacting on the translated copy as I want to reply them and puncture every statement that is rebuttable on the document and am not ready to leave anything out.

Moreso, I want to know if I should write them and ask if I am under any ban whatsoever as I intend to defer my admission till next summer, get a new passport or replacement as the case may be and then go back to them armed to the teeth but that would be a futile effort if I am under any ban whatsoever as the same fate will befall my enemy unless I am cleared or so I think.

I need the house to contribute and advise me accordingly so I will know the next course of action.

Thanks in anticipation.

Oga, its very compulsory for you to go with 3months travel insurance. Also, you might be asked to tender an email from your school confirming the extension of your registration.
My candid advise for you is to mail/call your school to send an email. tell them you've been asked to come for your visa, and you will be needing an email which clearly states an extension for at least one week. cos the embassy will surely ask for it knowing fully well that your admission might have elapsed.
Others can also contribute..

Yes you are right. Don't go without an email from your school extending the deadline for your enrollment as that will be a genuine reason for denying you the visa. You should call and email your school as advised and go with the printout of the email from the school showing the header of the message (your school's email and yours) so it will look genuine and not fabricated. If you go without it, you can be very sure that you will be denied unless you have already included the health insurance in your visa application initially (maybe that was why you were not requested to come along with another health or travel health insurance) but even at that, its better to err on the side of surplusage than be taken unawares.

So play the delay game until you get something good enough from your host institution before going to the Embassy as any mistake in the timing either by unnecessary delay or being too much in a haste in contacting them without the needed arsenal (letter from the school) could be fatal to your case. This is just my own opinion.

You will hear from them via mail/letter not email (they will post the decision to the address in your appeal) within 3-5 working days of submission. (speaking from experience from the guy i knew that appealed not quite long) he waited so long for the appeal until he wrote the Embassy and the Embassy replied that they have sent him the appeal decision via mail/letter so the guy complained he did not received it so he was asked to come to Embassy and collect it directly (the letter was dated just 3 days from when he submitted) which he did as Embassy refused to scan it to him cos he lives in Benin. I hope you do receive letter at the address you used?

The appeal will be treated in Nigeria not Germany. If your appeal is allowed, then your student visa application will be forwarded to Germany for approval.

You will have to sort out your int'l passport issue yourself with the immigration office where they said they will send it to, if your appeal is allowed.

Thanks Kelly for the information. Whilst praying to God to handle things His way for me, I will also be on the lookout for the letter in the mail since you said they don't send it by email. I hope everything will be fine even my host institution keep asking me if I have gotten the visa but I think once the passport and appeal issue is settled, I will defer my admission till next summer and reapply again. Thanks once more, I really do appreciate and will keep the house informed as events unfold as we all are here to learn and share ideas. Nice being a part of this family!

Hello house! I sent an email to the German Embassy on Monday following my student visa refusal and withholding of my passport on account of fake entry/exit stamps and visa immediately I got home and they sent me an email that I can appeal if I think the rejection was wrongful.

I already sent in the Notice of Appeal the following day being the 14th. The question now is; will the appeal be treated here or in Germany and what is the maximum waiting period? If my appeal is allowed; that is, successful, will I be given back my International Passport so I could go for a replacement or they will still send it to the Immigration as alleged in the rejection letter? Moreso, will I be allowed to apply for a German student visa in the near future and how soon? I know my questions are a bit weird but I just want people with similar experiences to comment and/or contribute so I can be better informed. I cant waste 3M like that so its better I know what my chances are so I will know if I should ask the school and Deutsche Bank to refund my money as soon as possible so I can seek admission elsewhere.

Your contributions and/or comments will be highly appreciated as usual.

O'boy your case is very serious oh. First of all even if you get new passport, don't waste time applying for Germany visa again cos your name has been blacklisted already in their system and next time, by entering your thump print/biometrics, all your denial reason and details will show even if your passport number changes. Don't even near any schengen country again for now.

My Advise: Try to get a new passport to get rid of that fake visa in the old one if not any Embassy you carry that fake visa to will still detect and same consequences will continue. Try other Embassies with your new passport but not German or schengen Embassies cos they share the same Data Base. You might not necessarily have been banned but just that the bad record is already in their systems with your biometrics details.

Further advise: Never do anything fake just to get visa cos the punishment sometimes is more than the offense. In your next application to other countries that does not have your bad record, use genuine documents and leave the rest for God. It is not a do or die affair. When is your turn to travel you will travel as far as your hands are clean.

Take heart and move ahead. Life goes on.

Thanks for the information bro. I have taken my time to draft a letter of appeal and sent to them this morning explaining the circumstances surrounding one of the expired visas and stamps. I had to explain that it was the visa agent that did it and not me as I was not the one who applied for the South African visa in the first place but my agent. Whatever it is, I have already put it to God in prayers. Its not a do or die thing like you said and I know my hands are clean but being held liable as its my passport, not the agent's.

I will keep the house informed as to the progress of the appeal as soon as I hear from them in due course

Good day house. I was at the embassy this morning as expected and to my greatest surprise I was rejected a student visa, reason: fake visa and/or entry and exit stamps on my passport.

I travelled to South Africa in August 2012 and the visa agent that procured the visa for me stamped a fake Israel visa and entry and exit stamps on the passport and his reason was that if the passport was virgin or fresh, the South African Embassy then may refuse the visa application. Eventually I got the visa then. At the point of departure, the immigration official detected and withheld my passport but because I was assisted by an Immigration officer, my passport was later given to me and I left successfully without any hassles.

Got back in December 2012, collected my NYSC certificate as I was still serving at the time I travelled. Started working where I still am till date in January 2013. Saved a little then decided to pursue my Masters in Germany since it's quite affordable when compared to the US, Canada or even the UK.

Now my student visa application was refused, passport confiscated and was told to contact the Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service at GRA, Ikeja. I know if I go there, I will be arrested so I decided to come down here to Immigration office in Festac town to see how I can retrieve the passport using an officer and then do a fresh one, if possible .

The question now is how possible is it to get a fresh passport using the same details as I am not ready to bear another name and can I still reapply for a German student visa after getting a new passport or I should just forget about Germany for now and request the school to refund my 5,000 Euros (US$6,500) tuition fee and ask the bank to wire my money back into my Nigerian Dom account from where I initially initiated the transfer.

I already called the agent and told him what that act he did 2 years ago has caused me and he was very apologetic and was even praying for me on the phone but the did had been done already and there is no point crying over spilled milk.

Please house, what are my chances of getting another passport using an insider so they won't bar me from getting another one or even blacklisting my name and picture in any of the passport offices and/or the airports due to what happened and how soon can I reapply for a German student visa if I get a new passport or is there a life ban or any other temporary ban for such and what are my chances of getting a visa if I later reapply since they would know I have been refused before on this ground.

Please I need you comments and/or contributions no matter how hurting it may sound as the truth hurts anyway but there is nothing I can do about the reality and it's better to know than to keep wasting time, money and having false hopes. Comments please !

Hell house, is enrollment the same thing as the online registration thing? I was instructed by the university to register on their website using a temporary user name and password and at the end of the process, I was asked to print out a document, sign, date and attach a passport photo and send together with my health insurance which I already did some weeks ago. Is this what is usually referred to as enrollment? I need an urgent response please as I was asked to come to the embassy and I intend to do that tomorrow and wouldn't want to appear like a fool if am asked any question regarding enrollment deadline when I don't fully understand what its all about.

Thanks in anticipation of your responses.

If you were going for undergraduate program, I would say they asked you to come because they want to give you a Maths test. Last week, my friend had his interview and this Tuesday he was asked to come to Embassy so we wondered what might be wrong, when the guy got there, they gave him maths test to write and ask him to go that he will hear from them.

Things are changing.....

But for your case a Law student who doesn't do Maths, I don't think it's Maths they want to set for you.

Or have they started setting test for Master applicants too?

Lol! Anything is possible but I sincerely doubt it. Whatever it is they want to verify, I am ready but for rejection, No! I have committed everything to God and I am hoping for the very best; its even better they ask someone to come so as to clarify certain things than to reject outrightly based on assumptions. With God, all will be well. Once am back on Monday, I will update you guys. Love this family!

I was under the impression that they wanted to verify my older visas but I dont really think that is even necessary as they are both expired since 2012. I am going for my LLM (Masters degree in Law). I asked the Nigerian lady that interviewed me about the passport and she said that there was no problem as she was not the person to interview me initially but the Asian looking lady but for some reasons, they had to assist her to reduce the crowd before her so I think it was during the process of moving my documents from one office to the other that the passport was left behind but I saw all my original documents during the interview which went very well as I was very comfortable that a black lady was the V.O and some answers I gave her she was like " its okay, you musn't answer everything". I think I did fairly well as far as the interview is concerned but I dont know why I was asked to come

Hi Esdajo, We're you told to come with a 3 months travel insurance? Are you using a sponsor or a block account and finally are you applying for a student visa or visiting visa and the likes. Your response to the questions asked may help in providing a clearer picture of what is going on.

@tossbal4real I used a block account and yes, its a student visa. I was just asked to come and noting more than that. No, I wasnt asked to come with any travel health insurance

Hello house. I had my interview last Thursday being October 2nd. I got an email from the embassy today asking that I should come without stating any reason(s). Though my passport was not returned to me after the interview which I had no issue with but the point now is that I am beginning to panic as I think the invitation is rather too early, i.e a week after interview.

Please, is this a bad omen or they asked me to come for clarification(s) regarding my documents? Anybody with similar experience should please share and I also welcome people's opinion on this as we are all here to learn.

Thanks in anticipation.

Hello house. My interview was today and it went very fine as I answered the questions asked to the best of my ability and now am keeping my fingers crossed for the good news. However they did not give me back my passport and I hope this is not a radical departure from the student visa procedure as I was under the impression that I would be given back the passport immediately after the interview. Any possible reason for that?

Above all, I want to say a very big thanks to all who have contributed on this thread as the information available here is by no means meagre.

House my school resumes on October 13th for lectures and my interview is tomorrow time, i.e October 2nd. I already funded my account, paid my tuition and have the invitation from the school, confirmation of account opening and funding intact plus I have packaged my application forms and documents in the order, i.e original copy and 2 photocopies of all my documents including credentials.

The question now is this; is it possible for the visa to be issued before school resumes as I have noticed on this forum that many a applicants visas were issued ranging from 2 weeks to 1 month if not more than after the interview day.

Please, I want to hear your comments as usual as I am somewhat uncomfortable but all my efforts to get an earlier date proved abortive until they changed the date from 6th of October to 2nd. Please, I need your comments on this house.

You should try writing to your school for a letter of extension, which you will take along with you to the embassy.

@Andre09 Letter of extension for what?

Hello house. I have received an official invitation from my school yesterday after the confirmed receiving my tuition fee. As it is now, all is set for my interview which is coming up next Thursday. However, I would need to 2 (two) vital information from you guys:

(1). I do not have a birth certificate so I went to the High Court to swear an Affidavit regarding my age. Is it in order or must it be my parent(s) that should do that for it to be acceptable by the German Embassy?

(2). How do I arrange my documents for the interview? Is there a particular order it should take? I am aware I have to go with my bank deposit confirmation, Admission letter, Invitation letter from the institution, completed visa application form and all my credentials and photocopies (2) thereof and my International Passport.

Please house, I need your guidance as usual as this forum has really been helpful and I hope to reciprocate the gesture someday.

Thanks in anticipation

Good morning house. I funded my blocked account with about $10,000 last week which obviously is short of the required 8,040 Euros as per exchange rate. So I had to transfer another $700 yesterday and to my greatest surprise, I got an email from Deutsche Bank this morning that my account had been credited to the tune of 8,188.95 Euros (I actually intended to fund it with 8,100 Euros). I never knew response would be this fast but anyways, I am happy I have crossed the funding hurdle.

I just transferred my tuition as well this morning (4,900 Euros) and will be getting a confirmation and receipt of payment as soon as it hits their bank account. The question now is this: am I to print out the letter in PDF format that was attached to the email I got from the bank as evidence of funding for the interview or the letter together with the email showing the sender and recipient, i.e Deutsche Bank and I?

Please, I need your advice as I am trying to get things in order so that I wont leave anything out on the interview day which is precisely 2 weeks from now.

Thanks in anticipation.

Hi fellow Nairalanders. I sought the advice of the house 2 weeks ago regarding the issue of the blocked account. Well, I received an email from the bank in Germany today with my bank details so I could fund same with the 8,040 Euros as required. It took exactly 2 weeks for the account information to reach me from the day of submission of the account- opening documents at the German Embassy here in Lagos.

Moving forward, I also got an email from the Embassy rescheduling my appointment from October 6th to October 2nd after being refused this privilege 2 weeks ago when I got the initial appointment and I told them my school resumes on October 13. I was just wondering if there is a nexus between account opening notification and appointment interview. That is to say, does it mean that the Deutsche Bank informed the German Embassy about the creation of my account which could have made the latter to reschedule my appointment or it was mere co-incidence? Just thinking aloud.

I really appreciate the contributions of fellow members and for sure the quantum of information circulating on this forum can never be under-estimated.

@ebele17. I also had the same issue but its been resolved. All you need do is visit mawista dot com and check out the information on their website. You can also chat with one of their representatives online as that was what I did yesterday and I was directed on how to fill the form online which I did and submitted online too. I just got a soft copy of my Health Insurance contract by email and was told the hard copy would be sent off this morning to my school in Germany. I hope this helps as that was how I went about mine and I was so stunned by the speed with which my case was handled and I am pretty sure it applies to all and sundry.

Hello house! I am very confused here and would really appreciate your contributions and/or advice regarding this issue. I was offered an admission for my Masters (LLM) in Germany. Lectures commences on October 13th, 2014. I was at the German Embassy here in Lagos on Monday being August 25th,2014 for the opening of a student blocked account. I submitted the forms and was given two (2) slips with which I sent an email for a student visa appointment. I received an email stating that the interview was scheduled for October 6th, 2014 ( a week before lecture commences), I sent an email asking them for an earlier date but was told that its not a possibility on account of the fact that they are already fully booked.

My questions goes thus:

(1) How long does it take to get a feedback from Deutsch Bank regarding the account details (Account numbers) from the day of submission of the forms at the German Embassy?

(2) What are my chances of getting the visa considering the very short period between my interview date and the date the school will resume?

(3) Is is advisable that I defer the admission until summer 2015 and use the new admission letter for the interview or I should use the same one with winter 2014 resumption?

All meaningful contributions would be highly appreciated. Thanks in anticipation.
