Senate President Bukola Saraki and other All
Progressives Congress’ (APC) senators are
currently meeting with John Oyegun, national
chairman of the party, to break the impasse
occasioned by the emergence of the new
leadership of the national assembly.
It is the first time since the June 9 election of
leaders of the eighth national assembly that the
new senate president and the chairman of his
party are holding a meeting.
Saraki was scheduled to meet with the APC
leadership two weeks ago, but the meeting was
abruptly cancelled.
Last Friday, Oyegun, had assured Nigerians that
the party was working hard to resolve the crisis
that had rocked it in recent times, to pave the
way for the fulfillment of its campaign promises
to Nigerians.
‘”The party has reached out to all interested
parties, and when the national assembly
resumes next week, Nigerians will see
one harmonious, happy APC family,” he had
said .
“We owe it to our party, our teeming members
and supporters and indeed all Nigerians who
reposed so much confidence in us by voting us
into office to quickly put the unfortunate
incidents of the recent past behind us and forge
ahead.”
Also in attendance at Monday’s meeting, which
is holding at Oyegun’s house in Abuja, is
Ahmed Lawan, the senator favoured by the
party to become senate president – before
Saraki aligned with Peoples Democratic Party
(PDP) senators to displace him.

SMH some people just like comparing what GEJ did and a similar thing PMB is doing forgetting that PMB is just doing copy copy while GEJ remains the original. Why can't PMB be creative and be original?

The All progressives congress, APC, National Chairman John Oyegun has called on those calling for his resignation in the party to redirect their energy towards ensuring that the party delivers on its promises to the Nigerian people.

He stated this as a guest on the Channels TV programme “Road Map” before adding that nobody should blame him for the fiasco at the National Assembly elections.

Oyegun who backed Senator Lawan Ahmed and Honourable Femi Gbajabiabila for the National Assembley positions, admitted that he has been hurt by the outcome of the elections which produced Senator Bukola Saraki and Honourable Yakubu Dogara as Senate president and Speaker of the House of Representatives.

“The civil war in the party has ended and we would not allow this to distract us”
“There is no question that we have been hurt with what happened. We disappointed the Nigerian people and we apologise for that but, all that is in the past and its behind us, we are moving forward and focusing on policies that would benefit the Nigerian people”

Oyegun whom the former Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Musa Kwankwanso blasted for his inability to resolve different interest groups in the party, vying for different positions also stated that he should not be blamed for what happened at the national assembly.

Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has warned health workers in the state to sit up, spokesman Malam Imam Imam said in a statement, following an unscheduled visit by the governor to the Murtala Muhammed state Specialist hospital at 2 a.m. on Sunday.

Tambuwal, the spokesman said, “lamented the condition of patients and warned that government will not tolerate laxity from any of its workers.”

The visit, which occurred at 2.00am Sunday morning, caught the few workers on duty unawares. Imam Imam said upon entering the hospital, the governor observed that there was “no electricity supply while many patients, who could not withstand the heat in their wards, lied down outside the designated wards.” “After going round the dark complex for 30 minutes to assess things for himself, Tambuwal was then recognized by a few of the staff on duty. Upon noticing his presence, the generator set was quickly powered on while the staff made attempts to hurry the patients into the rooms,” the statement read.

After speaking to the patients and wishing them quick recovery, Tambuwal assured them that their health needs would not be toyed with by the government, the spokesman said.He also admonished the staff on duty to fear God, and warned that any repeat of what he saw at the hospital by any government worker will be met with appropriate sanctions.

He said unscheduled visits at odd hours to government agencies will continue so as to acquaint himself with how workers fulfill their obligations to the people.
