The former United striker has transformed the mood and results at Old Trafford , leading the club into the Champions League quarter -finals and lifting them into contention for a top -four finish in the Premier League .
When Solskjaer was given the role following the departure of Jose Mourinho in December it was widely assumed he was merely keeping the seat warm for a bigger managerial name but his success has led to a clamour for the appointment to be made full -time and midfielder Pogba has now added his voice .
“ Of course we want him to stay ,” the France midfielder told Sky Sports . “The results have been great . I have a great relationship with him , he has a great relationship with the players .

“When a player is happy , he wants to keep being happy . Solskjaer deserves it. He knows the club, he knows everything about the club.
“He is a really happy coach that gave confidence back to the players . This gave us the freedom to play and enjoy football again because maybe we lost that with the results that we had before.”
It is a striking contrast to the final months of Mourinho ’s reign , with Pogba the player who was repeatedly claimed to be at odds with the Portuguese.
He declined to elaborate , saying only , “Maybe we lost confidence , maybe things went wrong. A lot of talking outside that we weren ’t used to.
“I don’ t like to talk about the past. I like to talk about the future because that ’s what matters . We are better now and the results have been brilliant .”
Despite their good run , United were beaten by Wolves in the FA Cup quarter -finals on Saturday , a week after losing to Arsenal in the Premier League — the only two domestic defeats since Solskjaer replaced Mourinho in December .

The Governor of Bauchi State , Mohammed Abubakar, has said that he will go to court to challenge the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission to resume the collation of the results of March 9 governorship polls in the state .
The governor , who said INEC ’s decision was “ illegal ,” spoke on his next line of action after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday at the Presidential Villa .
INEC had reversed its decision to suspend the collation of results in Rivers and Bauchi states .
The governor explained that his mission to the Villa was to brief Buhari on the latest developments , saying he did not expect the President to assist him in any way .
The governor spoke with State House correspondents , saying , “I came to brief Mr . President about the situation in my state . I briefed him on the issues surrounding the inconclusive elections .
“The Returning Officer for Bauchi State , at the end of the collation , rejected the result of Tafawa Balewa Local Government and those of the 36 other units spread around 15 local government areas of Bauchi State and then ordered a rerun .
“Surprisingly , we woke up one morning and INEC came up with a procedure that is not known to law . Because , where a Returning Officer has declared the result, only an election petition tribunal can reverse it.

“But INEC is attempting to reverse itself in the case of Bauchi. And when one juxtaposes the issues in Bauchi against those of other states whose elections were also deemed inconclusive , one wonders why Bauchi State is being dealt with this way .
“So , for that reason , there is a need for me to come and brief Mr . President because the matter has the potential of touching on the security of the state and it is our paramount duty to secure the state .”
On the specific options left to him , Abubakar stated , “I am a lawyer and I am pursuing the legal angle.
“I briefed him ( President Buhari ) and he emphasised on that legal angle that it is the best way to go.”

The trial of the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria , Justice Walter Onnoghen , on charges of non -declaration and false declaration of charges , started on Monday , with the tribunal admitting first set of exhibits .
The exhibits tendered by the prosecution led by Mr . Aliyu Umar ( SAN ) , were the petition written by a civil society group and which informed the six counts preferred against the suspended CJN and two assets declaration forms ( Forms CCB 1) submitted by the defendant in 2014 and 2015.
Umar tendered the documents as exhibits after a brief introductory testimony of the prosecution’ s first witness , Mr . James Apala , a Senior Investigation Officer with the Code of Conduct Bureau .
The petition dated January 7, 2019, was sent to the Code of Bureau by Anti- Corruption and Research -Based Data Initiative and was admitted by the three -man bench of the CCT as Exhibit 1 without any objection from the defence .
Although the defence led by Chief Adegboyega Awomolo ( SAN ) , did not object to the assets declaration forms , he noted that the forms were “in loose form and appeared to be tampered with ”, adding that he would address the issues at the final address stage .
Ruling , the tribunal chairman , Danladi Umar, admitted the forms as exhibits with a caveat that the defence would have the right to address the issue in their final address .
Earlier, Apala while being led in evidence by the prosecuting counsel , had said , “On January 9, 2019, I was in my office at the Code of Conduct Bureau that morning when I received a call from my superior , Samuel Madojemu , who happens to be a member of the ( investigation ) team .
“He directed that I investigate a petition .
“Having done the required processes – routine investigation – case file was opened and investigation plan was drawn.
“The petition was authored by Chief Dennis Aghanya of the Anti -Corruption and Research -Based Data Initiative , alleging breach of Code of Conduct for Public Officers, including non -declaration of assets and false declaration of assets , against the Hon. Justice Walter Samuel Nkanu Onnoghen , GCON , the Chief Justice of Nigeria .
“ Thereafter, the team wrote to the Federal Political Officers Unit ( of the bureau ) , Asokoro , requesting the defendant ’s asset declarations received from 2000 to 2009.
“The department responded . The two asset declaration forms were examined and filed in the case file .”

Eight – year -old Nigerian boy , Tanitoluwa Adewumi, has emerged the winner of the state – wide New York’s chess championship in the third -grade category .
Adewumi, who lives in a Manhattan homeless shelter with his family, won the competition with an undefeated performance , reports The Hill .
Tani started learning chess last year alongside his classmates . He went on to join his school ’ s chess club. The club’ s organizer waived the fees for him because of his family’s financial situation.

Though he started out as the lowest-rated member of the club , he quickly improved and is now bringing his school statewide recognition .
It was reported that the Adewumis comprising of Tanitoluwa , his parents and older brother arrived in New York after fleeing Nigeria in 2017 due to fear of terror attacks from the group Boko Haram .
They have sought asylum and an immigration hearing has been scheduled for August , 2019.

Victor Tale, the Super Sand Eagles captain, said that the team was working towards qualifying for the All African Beach Soccer qualifying tournament in Cape Verde , ahead of the 2019 Tokyo Olympics Games .
The captain made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos .
He added that going for training tours would help the players to ensure that the team qualifies for the Olympics Games for the first time .
“ We will be playing against the best in the qualifiers , so we need to ensure that we train well enough for this tournament. We need training tours early enough , so that we can have a successful outing at the tournament.
“Since we qualified at the CAF beach soccer tournament in Egypt, we knew what our next challenge is and that ’s our main focus for now .

“Ensuring that we qualify for the Olympics is important , it will be our first time , and we want to see how that goes , that will further boost our confidence at the World Cup in Paraguay .”
The qualifier would kick off sometime in April .
Tale said that it had been difficulty preparing for the CAF Beach Soccer championship in Egypt with the absence of COPA Lagos Beach Soccer Tournament.
COPA Lagos is an international tournament organised by Kinetic Sports since its inception in 2011 .
Super Sand Eagles had always looked forward to the tournament, being the only tournament in the country that prepares the players for CAF Beach Soccer Tournament .
“ I pray that we have this year ’s edition. That tournament usually help us assess ourselves with our foreign counterparts , we missed not having last year ’s edition .
“This year , we will have Beach Soccer back, which will help the team prepare for the World Cup in November ,” the Kogi United FC player said .
The 2019 edition of the World Cup kicks – off on November 21 .

The Presidency on Sunday warned political leaders it accused of making inflammatory statements ahead of Saturday ’s supplementary elections to desist forthwith .
It also noted that the Independent National Electoral Commission was fully in charge of electoral matters in the country , and not President Muhammadu Buhari , who it says would neither interfere with the process nor change results in favour of the ruling All Progressives Congress .
In a statement on Sunday, the Presidency said some party leaders expected that Buhari would abuse his office by usurping the powers of INEC to turn the tables in their favour .
It stated that the President would do no such thing , while it advised party leaders in the affected six states to work hard to earn the votes of the people on Saturday.
The statement , which was signed by presidential spokesman , Mr . Garba Shehu , read in part, “The Presidency also rejects unfair and ridiculous criticisms of President Muhammadu Buhari ’s apparent disinterest in the upcoming elections in some states by party members who wrongfully assume that the President will abuse his power by changing results to favour them .
“Past presidents of Nigeria were known to interfere in inconclusive elections , and that is why party members appear to be upset that the same thing is not happening now .
“President Buhari is a different kind of leader . He swore to defend the Constitution and he will not veer off from that .
“The Constitution of Nigeria gives the President no such powers . It is unfair and ridiculous to criticise President Buhari for not going against the Constitution .
“Party members in states where there will be supplementary elections then need to be reminded that they need to work hard to earn their people ’s votes, rather than expect President Buhari to manipulate INEC in their favour .”
The Presidency further observed that while the ruling All Progressives Congress members were expecting Buhari to interfere , the opposition too had concluded that the President would use INEC to assist his party to victory .
The Presidency maintained that Buhari would not play to the wishes of anyone on the supplementary elections , insisting that the APC must work hard to earn votes .
“Interestingly , while members of the ruling APC party were criticising the President for not interfering on their behalf , members of the opposition were condemning the President based on their assumptions that he would definitely interfere , as many in the opposition did while in power .
“Under President Buhari , INEC had been and will be completely independent throughout the elections , free from any interference.
“President Buhari is a man of conviction , and the manipulation of election results goes against everything he stands for .
“INEC is completely in charge ,” the Presidency added .
