IPOB Demands Release Of Nnamdi Kanu Over ‘Tuberculosis Outbreak In DSS Facility’ In Abuja
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has demanded the immediate release of its detained leader, Nnamdi Kanu, saying a Tuberculosis outbreak has hit the detention facility of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Abuja, where Kanu is being detained.
Kanu had raised an alarm over the Tuberculosis outbreak in the detention facility and that a detainee diagnosed with Tuberculosis was moved to his cell block amid his deteriorating health condition without proper medical attention.
On Thursday, IPOB in a statement by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, alleged that the DSS has deliberately detained the tuberculosis-infected person in close proximity to Kanu’s cell to infect the IPOB leader with the disease.
Any harm on him will spell doom for Nigeria and everything that represents Nigeria both home and abroad,” IPOB warned.
IPOB said the detained tuberculosis patient had infected many detainees in the DSS detention facility and that the spread of the disease was fast because the facility “has no access to sunlight and lacks proper ventilation”.

“With information available to us, many inmates have already been infected by the virus, and DSS agents are not providing medication to infected persons. If urgent measures are not taken to avert the situation, there will be a tuberculosis pandemic in the Abuja DSS detention facility.
“We are calling on the Red Cross Society and World Health Organisation to visit the Abuja DSS facility and give independent and unbiased reports on the situation and recommendations for treatment.
“DSS and the Nigerian government must know that if anything untoward happens to Nnamdi Kanu, they will see what IPOB is capable of doing to this country,” it said.
The secessionist group called on the World Health Organisation and other health organisations, Red Cross Society, and Amnesty International Nigeria to prevail on the government to release Kanu as ordered by the Appeal Court.

Lagos State Government accuses 'Gangs of Lagos' promoters of 'cultural misrepresentation'

The Lagos State Government has released a statement accusing promoters of the movie ‘Gangs of Lagos’ of making a mockery of the heritage of Lagos.

The statement posted on the state government’s official website reads:
Lagos State Government has expressed displeasure with the promoters of the “Gangs of Lagos” film/series over cultural misrepresentation and for portraying the culture of Lagos State in a derogatory manner.
“A release signed by the Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Pharm. (Mrs.) Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf said the Ministry, being the regulatory body and custodian of the culture of Lagos State, views the film/series as a mockery of the Heritage of Lagos.
“The Commissioner expressed her disappointment with the promoters of the film, Jade Osiberu and Kemi Akindoju, for portraying the Eyo Masquerade as a gun-wielding villain while adorning the full traditional regalia.”
According to the statement, Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf said: “We are of the opinion that the production of the film ‘The Gang of Lagos’ is very unprofessional and misleading while its content is derogatory of our culture, with the intention to desecrate the revered heritage of the people of Lagos. It is an unjust profiling of a people and culture as being barbaric and nefarious. It depicts a gang of murderers rampaging across the State”.
Akinbile-Yussuf maintained that the Adamu Orisha, popularly known as the Eyo Festival, is rarely observed and only comes up as a traditional rite of passage for Obas, revered Chiefs and eminent Lagosians.

Former President Donald Trump pleaded not guilty to 34 counts of falsifying business records in a crowded Manhattan courtroom on Tuesday.

The charges stem from Trump’s alleged role in hush money payments to two women, including adult film star Stormy Daniels.

Trump arrived at the downtown Manhattan courtroom shortly before 2 p.m. Tuesday after spending the night at Trump Tower.

Trump supporters have started gathering at the former president’s Mar-a-Lago club as he’s expected to arrive later Tuesday following his historic arraignment in Manhattan.
David Lee, of Houston, was among the dozens who traveled across state lines to condemn the charges filed against Trump in the Stormy Daniels payoff case.

“We are here for the truth,” he said. “We had to cancel our business, spend money and didn't sleep [to come here].

“If you saw a little good guy being bullied by this crowd of bad people, you're gonna sign up for that little guy,” he said. “You know, [Trump] is like David against the giant Goliath.”

Lee led protesters carrying “Justice for All” and “Trump 2024” signs, and sang to the tune of “For He's Jolly Good Fellow”: “Trump committed no crime, Trump committed no crime, Trump committed no crime, this nobody can deny.”

Although the group had cars honk in support of their cause, they also faced backlash, with one driver yelling, “Better cry, he’s going to jail!”

Trump is set to fly out of New York City following his arraignment to hold his own press conference to speak about the case presented against him by Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg.

The conference, however, could fall apart or provide little insight if the court decides to issue a gag order during the proceedings.

Tik-Tok slammed with $15.9 M penalty for misuse of Kid’s data
As of 2020 over 1.4 million children in the U.K. under 13 used Tik-Tok, despite the platform’s own rules prohibiting children that young from setting up accounts.
The Information Commissioner’s Office said it issued a fine of 12.7 million pounds ($15.9 million) to the short-video sharing app, which is wildly popular with young people.
The British watchdog investigated these data breaches between May 2018 and July 2020.
TikTok didn’t adequately identify and remove children under 13 from the platform, the watchdog said. And even though it knew younger children were using the app, TikTok failed to get consent from their parents to process their data, as required by Britain’s data protection laws, the agency said.
It’s the latest example of tighter scrutiny that TikTok and its parent, Chinese technology company ByteDance, are facing in the West, where governments are increasingly concerned about risks that the app poses to data privacy and cybersecurity.

Lagos state Government arraigns Chrisland School and four others for manslaughter; Court grants them bail
The Lagos State Government on Thursday, March 30, arraigned Chrisland School ltd and four others before an Ikeja High court over the alleged involuntary manslaughter of a 12-year-old student, Whitney Adeniran who died during the school’s inter-house sports on February 9.
The state government filed charges of involuntary manslaughter and reckless negligent acts against the school and four others namely the principal, Mrs Belinda Amao, the Vice Principal, Nwatu Victoria, and a teacher in the school, Kuku Fatai. The other defendant is a vendor at the Agege Stadium, Ademoye Adewale.
At the arraignment this morning, the prosecution team led by the Lagos state Commissioner for Justice. Moyosore Onigbanjo told the court that the defendants negligently killed Adeniran by not ensuring her safety at the stadium. The prosecution team added that the defendants acted recklessly and negligently that endangered human life. Onigbanjo, while arraigning the defendants, informed the court that the state would be presenting 17 witnesses against the defendants and that the alleged offence contravened Sections 224 and 251 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
When the charges were read to them, the defendants all pleaded not guilty. The school principal, Belinda Amao, wept profusely as she was put in the dock.
The presiding judge, Justice Oyindamola Ogala admitted the defendants’ on bail after the defence counsel moved the motion for bail dated March 28 and March 29 respectively. There were no objections from the prosecution.

Kaduna Governor, El-Rufai’s Security Escorts Open Fire On Protesting Shi’ite Members During Procession, Five Killed
The Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) otherwise called “Shi’ites” has accused the Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, of causing the death of five members of the group when his security details allegedly opened fire on them during a protest in Kaduna.
Many people including passers-by were said to be caught up in the melee on Thursday in Kaduna as many people sustained varying degree of injuries in the process.

In a statement signed by the Secretary of Academic Forum of the movement, Abdullahi Muhammad Musa, the group attributed the tragic incident that led to the death of their members to the inciting statement allegedly made by the governor a few days ago.
The governor was said to have incited members of his political Party in Zaria, against the movement and its leader, Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky(H), where he told them that they must vote for his anointed candidate, Senator Uba Sani.
SaharaReporters gathered that the governor’s convoy ran into the peaceful protesters along the airport road demanding for the release of travel documents of their leader, Ibraheem El-Zakzaky and his wife Zeenah.
It was learnt that the combined security operatives reportedly fired both teargas canisters and live bullets at the crowd killing five persons on the spot.
One of the victims was identified as Aliyu Suleiman, an 18 years old Mechanical Engineering Student of Kaduna State Polytechnic.
The statement read, “Few days after the Kaduna State Governor, Nasiru El-Rufai, incited members of his political Party in Zaria, against the the Islamic movement in Nigeria and it leader, Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky(H), where he told them that they must Vote his anointed candidate, Senator Uba Sani, so he may finish off what he described as the remnants of El-zakzaky’s Shiites in Zaria.

US President, Joe Biden, Others Yet To Congratulate Tinubu After ‘Winning’ Presidential Election
World leaders including the United States President, Joe Biden, have not yet put a call across to President-elect, Bola Tinubu, who was declared of Nigeria’s February 25 presidential election.
This is coming as the election was widely allegedly acclaimed to be poorly conducted and rigged in favour of the ruling All Progressives Congress.
In contrast to Buhari’s election victory in April 2015, Tinubu is yet to receive an official congratulation from world leaders including the US President weeks after being declared a winner.
On April 1, 2015, the then French President, François Hollande, the then United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon and the then US President, Barack Obama were among the dignitaries who extended their congrats to Buhari.
Hollande had also showed appreciation for the commitment of the Nigerian people and the professionalism exhibited by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the conduct of the polls.
In his statement issued then on Tuesday, March 31, 2015, Ban Ki-Moon congratulated Buhari on his hard won victory and praised INEC for organising the elections in a professional and credible “manner under challenging circumstances.”
“The INEC, the domestic and foreign observers, civil society, the political parties and above all the Nigerian people themselves. They have shown how a democracy can work; I warmly congratulate Gen. Buhari as the successful Presidential candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC),”then European Union (EU) High Representative/Vice-President, Federica Mogherini had also said.
But for Tinubu, notable world leaders have kept quiet for days running into weeks amid several domestic calls to re-examine the process and court cases.
The US government sent a congratulations message to Tinubu days after the INEC announcement, some civic groups had berated the US government, saying it “hurriedly congratulated Tinubu despite his fraudulent victory because the US plans to use him as a stooge for the next four years.”
On March 8 Chatham House, an independent policy institute based in London, in an analysis by one of its fellows said the February 25 presidential election showed that the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC failed to learn new lessons.
The London-based institute had stressed that the electoral umpire failed to adhere to its own guidelines, which it enunciated before the poll, especially the one bordering on the uploading of results in real-time.
“The INEC’s performance and controversies over these results mean that the electoral reforms and lessons declared to have been learned were not fully applied and, as an electoral body, it was significantly less prepared than it claimed.
“The logistical failures of INEC and widespread delayed opening of polling units meant that voters who showed up at the polls early were frustrated and many voters and INEC staff were not able to locate their polling units for several hours,” Chatham House had stated.

INEC Was Imputing Wrong Figures On Server, BVAS Configuration – PDP Presidential Campaign
The Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Council has alleged that the Independent National Electoral Commission is imputing wrong figures while transferring results to the backend server.
The PDP campaign spokesperson, Dino Melaye, stated this on Monday, while vowing that his party the PDP, would expose any wrong imputation and change in figures by the commission as it transferred election results to the backend server.
February 25 presidential election which the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu was declared winner had been a subject of debate.
The election has been described by some stakeholders as the worst election since the return of the democracy in 1999.
It had been reported that the elections were marred with irregularities such as late arrival of electoral materials, voter suppression, thuggery, manipulation of election results among others.

PDP CAMPAIGN
Above all, the electoral umpire breached its guidelines and regulations for election and provisions of Electoral Act 2022 and Nigeria constitution.
Since the February 25 elections, criticisms have continued to trail the conduct of the polls.
Following the accusations, both the Labour Party and Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidates approached the court to grant them order to inspect all the electoral materials used during the poll.
However, the Court of Appeal, granted the Labour Party’s requests for inspection of the electoral materials, but the Nigeria’s electoral umpire has refused to grant the warring parties access to those materials.
In what pundits have viewed as a subtle way of altering the information on the BVAS, INEC sought and obtained order of the Appeal Court to reconfigure the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System machines ahead of March 18 governorship and states Assembly elections.
With the skepticism, Atiku’s spokesperson took to his official Twitter handle to accuse the electoral Commission of imputing wrong figure on the database other than the original figure from the polling units.
The former lawmaker said they would shock INEC and its ICT department.

Nigerian businessman and former chairman of defunct Skye Bank, Tunde Ayeni has asked his estranged lover, Adaobi Alagwu, to vacate an office building he gifted her.
Ayeni is currently enmeshed in a paternity mess with the woman. He is alleged to have fathered a child, a baby girl, with Adaobi, a claim he has blatantly denied.
The female lawyer was a classmate of the businessman’s daughter.
It was learnt that after SaharaReporters exposed the scandal, Ayeni asked the lady to vacate the multi-million naira building.
The building is located at 36, Birao Street, Wuse 2, back of AP Plaza, off Adetokunbo Ademola Street in Abuja.

In the letter, the lawyer wondered why the businessman had been denying the pregnancy despite paying her flight tickets, hospital bills to have the baby in United States and even more so that the child’s international passport carried his name which he was very much aware.
She went on to describe him as a “loser” and “user.”
“Ada recently wrote a letter to Ayeni telling him; he can’t possibly deny the pregnancy because he paid her flight tickets and hospital bills to have the baby in US. The letter also contains her insistence on keeping the office building in Abuja that he gave to her, saying Ayeni only denied the baby because of his wife at home and his many ‘girlfriends’,” the source noted.
Another source familiar with Ayeni’s recent woes said, ‘Atiku’s loss at the elections is a big blow for Ayeni and he’s now back to square one and no federal might to harass anyone. And there are whispers within Atiku’s inner circles that Atiku’s loss is remotely linked to Ayeni’s shady dealings and many legal battles including his debt to AMCON which is reported to be well over N230billion.
“Ada knows Ayeni is afraid of her and her letter to him is reported to have sent shivers down his spine and indeed Ayeni has been scared with the letter and has been trying to manage Ada,” a source privileged to see the letter said.
SaharaReporters had reported how important briefs given to a law firm owned by Ayeni, were diverted to Airbridge chambers owned by Adaobi.
A former lawyer in the law firm had claimed the businessman handed important briefs and clients to Adaobi to handle despite being a young lawyer all in a bid to please her. With fresh updates revealing that Ayeni may be closing in with a new lady whose name starts from T, with an intention to find his way back to the ruling party.
However, Ayeni had publicly denied being the father of the lawyer’s baby.
