Jobs/Vacancies / Re: What's Your Experience Like In The Labor Market? by ffo(m): 3:39pm On Feb 08
Hamachi:
This is post is targeted at graduates of 1-10 years.

Few days ago, a graduate of 10 years threatened to burn his certificate, this got me thinking.. Is it that bad? A graduate of 10 years cannot map out a career path or business plan to follow tentatively. This thoughts actually formulated these questions..

Are you doing what you envisaged as an undergraduate, or are you utilizing your survival instinct's.
If you affirm the formal..
What is it?
What are your challenges?
Is it related to course of study?

And if the later is affirmed..
What are those things you do to survive?
What are your challenges?

Your experience will help mold undergraduates and graduates alike and in turn, deter them from towing that shameful path like burning of certificate e.t.c

Let me give you a little secret about labor market. Using myself as an example, I have worked in more than 6 companies in 3 different countries and continent. Most times after about 2 years, i just get bored and feel like changing employer or when i ask them for a raise or favor. Now back to your question, the secret is this, know what the society needs and demands, then develop yourself in that particular aspect, then you will see as jobs will be coming your way.

Who are these Nigerians that get excited anytime they see somebody with white skin do anything Nigerian? Has anyone shown enthusiasm because you as a black african can speak English? Nigerian social media is 50% tribalism 50% white people wearing gele.

I see inferiority complex in your comment.
1. Not all oyinbos speak english
2. There are black oyinbos who speak english so when a black african speak english it aint new
3. If black african speak chinese, russian, malaysian languages, etc, they see it as big deal

so get out of your inferiority complex or "wokeness"

Please,I dont know if this is the right section to post this; your advice is really needed from our guys who stays in the US.

I am considering learning a skill before going for an MSc in the US in 6-months time. I would like to go for Truck driving because my dad drives one and I know he will expose and teach me well, faster and with all his heart. He has been on it right since my birth (over 30 years) here in Naija, He has drove for many companies including don.gote, tetr.alog, and the likes. I learnt it is not easy to get a job that can sponsor a work visa to remain in the US after ones study, so if I learn this from him, maybe I could and get certified, I can get a company that can sponsor a work visa easily why eyeing my dream job. I need an advice on this if it will worth it .

Pls, I need a sincere advice from our brothers over there.
Mod pls help me move this to front page Abeggg!!!

I really struggle to believe there are more Yorubas in the USA than Igbos.

I am suspecting maybe Yorubas just teach their kids their indigenous language more than Igbos.

There are more Yorubas in the UK than Igbo. I struggle to believe that is also the case in the USA.

I have met many more Yorubas than Igbos and i havent met any Hausa.

. You're wrong. Nothing is wrong in sharing their first experience with snow. Besides here in Germany and many European countries , the natives still take out their children to play during snow falls.
So don't be hard on them, it is just normal thing during the winter season.

All these wannabees who have never set their feet outside the shores of Nigeria and are suffering from inferiority complex always insulting the OP just because he is an African.

I have seen lots (i mean lots) of whites who are looking forward to having the first snow experience, i have also seen whites who travel to the North during winter just to have snow experience, i have seen pictures and videos of adult whites who are playing in the snow, but just because the OP is a black man, y'all have issues with him and making derogatory statement about his experience. Y'all are obviously envious of him and his family but because you are feeling insecure and inferior y'all wont admit that.

Do y'all also know that there is now a new trend among white families adopting blacks because they like our skin and us. but these stupid wannabees who knows NOTHING will always feel inferior and insecure.

tinsel:
In 2009, when Obi was the governor of Anambra state, his 2009 budget for Governor's office was higher than that of education and health combined.
Compare below his 2009 budget with that of Chimaraoke.
Should we discuss how, under your leadership, Anambra budgeted N5.8 billion and N5.3 billion for the Executive Governor's office in 2009 and 2008, respectively, while the total budget for education was just N2.8 billion?

The way Obi talks about health and education, you would think he spent a lot on capital expenditure for them
- Governor's office : ₦5.8B
- Edu: ₦2.8B
- Health: ₦1.5B
Compare this with
@ChimarokeNamani
2005 budget:
- Governor's Office: ₦1.4B
- Edu: ₦10.7B
- Health: ₦4.3B

so your point now is that it is right for the FG to allocate so much for frivolities

this kind of comment comes from someone suffering from inferiority complex who most likely has not step beyond the walls of his village. Do you know lots of white have not experienced the snow before and are also looking forward to the experience and will do the same thing as he did? This time last year, I didn’t know I’d be married this year. A lot has happened in one year, met my wife in a strange manner, loved her and finally got married to her.

https://www.nairaland.com/7847420/how-met-fiancee

I will like to keep my anonymity so unfortunately no pictures here. But I can give you a good description, she’s the last child and only daughter, so you know how she must have been pampered. Her mum was so emotional and she had tears roll down her cheek on the D-day, it was lovely though to see such wonderful connection.

My wife is tall, ebony and in her early twenties. White sparkling teeth, bright eyes, always smiling. She’s the perfect gift to me. The wedding was simple yet beautiful. I am so fortunate to have her in my life.

And the best gift came after. Let me whisper it (I met her at home, tear rubber) cheesy

congratulations and welcome to the league of tear rubber husbands.
I am happy for you. i know the feeling

you would have considered what your cousin said because to me it was the best even though it might seem expensive to you...

you'll stay with the person, learn the ropes till you stand on your feet.. also, you won't find much trouble finding a home and paying rents, taxes and all that... I hope you've learnt your lesson...

that aside, there are various business you can do with 2M, invest in food business, snacks, accessories, gadgets, a salon, POS and the likes... invest in things that are of less risks and big ROI

There is nothing right in doing what is wrong, paying to be a dependent is nothing but a criminal offense.

Career / Re: Is It True That Ladies Are Limited To Tailor And Hairdresser As Handwork? by ffo(m): 3:10pm On Oct 27, 2023
Premiumbuy:
Hi landers, there's this thing about female handwork that I have been thinking about, while growing up male child is open to different handwork which we all know, unlike the female ones that either learn tailoring or hairdresser/makeup, I would have added catering but they don't count that as handwork because it is something they easily learn from home, so there was a day I was having a conversation with my female colleague and she said she wants to learn makeup and then I asked her why, her reply was if she did learn makeup which other handwork can she learn apart from Hairdresser and Tailor, which brings the question apart from Hairdresser and Tailor which other handwork can a lady learn?

PS: I am not talking about online skills.

If you ever traveled out of Nigeria, you will then appreciate these so called "handwork" that Nigerians look than on.

As an example, in USA, you braiding cost as much as $300, that is without any materials, just workmanship.

As a tailor, just mending of cloth, its cost as much as $20/per.

Cutting of hair is from $50 upwards.

If you want to japa, learn "handwork" even if people are laughing at you, it will help you.

Another one was some top banks in Malaysia refused to open a salary account for me telling me that they blacklisted Nigerians.

You can only say this if things remind the same way he met it. but if things are getting worse, giving him more time doesn't make ANY sense. Tinubu is already making it look like Buhari was better than him.
