Travel / Re: Before Applying Or Coming To The Uk For Studies: Beware Of This by fOFT: 10:39pm On Aug 26, 2016
bikat:
I have observed that a lot of Nigerians are ignorant of some basic facts about the UK before choosing to study here. I have met so many people whose desire is to stay back in the country for a few years before returning to Nigeria. However, they get disappointed when on arrival they discover that there are no immigration programmes designed to keep them in the country beyond their studies. Hence I thought I should educate us a little just so that you ahead of time. I have been in the UK for 7 years so I am speaking from experience.

The UK is a lovely country, people here are respectful, you will get on with little or no problems at all. However, IF YOU HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY to study abroad and IF YOUR INTENTIONS are to stay back to work for a few years before returning to your country. THEN THE UK is a wrong choice. During the Labour government students were allowed to stay back for two years after graduation but the Conservative Party (currently in Gov) is heavily ANTI IMMIGRATION. Therefore YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO LEAVE THE UK AS SOON AS YOU GRADUATE except you get married or get certain types of jobs (Trust me, YOU WONT GET THOSE JOBS within ONE YEAR), you will be kicked out of the country. ONLY students whose primary intentions are to study and go back to their jobs, husband, rich parents, wife or other commitments should come to the UK for studies. THE UK IS VERY SENSITIVE TO IMMIGRATION RIGHT NOW. they don't want IMMIGRANTS in the country anymore.

For those who want to stay back and work for some years after graduation, you SHOULD go to CANADA, USA, SELECTED EU COUNTRIES, AUSTRALIA, NEW ZEALAND and others. These countries have immigration programmes to allow you stay back in their countries before returning to NIGERIA, if you want to.

Please note that I am not discouraging people from coming to the UK, as far as I am concern, the UK is a friendly country with good human right. You will love it here but just beware that they are no longer VERY WELCOMING TO IMMIGRANTS. I think they are tired of people coming to their country, it is a good place to study if all you are after is the certificate. However, from my recent experience with Nigerian students (always trying to stay back to no avail) I just thought you should know that there are other countries out there that support or have immigration programmes to support ex students who wants to stay back in their country. Bro, I'm not confused, I used a plural noun to point to other readers who may get confused with your post. Meanwhile, I still remain on my point that even if you withdraw huge amount in your account, no bank will tell them how much you have withdrawn.

This is it; the embassy will fax the copies (mostly first and last page) of the SOA to the bank to confirm the date, balance and other information, which must conform with the bank's copy. They won't ask for the balance outside the one printed. If the embassy needs to see new balance, it will contact the applicant for new SOA printout.

You can use company account, as long as the company account is genuine and the signatory(ies) to the account attest and sign for your sponsorship and there is sufficient fund to bear your study expenses.

If it is not a fake account, why would the visa applicant be arrested? Please don't misinform people. If your surname doesn't correlate with the sponsor's but the sponsor is genuinely sponsoring you and the documents come from him + the documents are genuine, why would the embassy suspect or get you arrested ? undecided

We need to be factual and diligent in giving out information here. A lot of people rely on threads like this to get things done. Please!

Guy, when you get to Italy, please, send me PM. We need to relate. You're socially intelligent.
Keep it up.

am feeling why they refuse most people visa is that they collect all this documents and when dey verify that its cancelled maybe becuse the flight and hotel booking isnt paid yet, they have a reason to deny u visa. thats what i think oo.. and this one dey take 3 weeks to verify all this maybe they will as well check the bank statements if there is money inside or not..

Please, stop posting your feeling as your feeling about issuance of VISA is invalid and misleading.
I am sure some people have read your post and you have somehow poisoned them.
However, i'll suggest you always reference your source to validate any opinion because this is a public forum where people often learn from.
As far as I know, issuance of VISA is (GOD) plus unconscious bias.

Politics / Re: Is Steady Electricity Possible In Nigeria? by fOFT: 12:28pm On Jul 02, 2016
mrprezident007:
With what we have been through as a country, the power sector alone have consumed more money than any other sector, but little or no result have been achieved. I was even hoping that this new FG administration will be different but so far it seems we are going back to 1830 when we had 0MW throughout Nigeria. I had tthis argument with someone on Palmchat but I would like to know what you NLs have to say. Do you think Nigeria can have steady power supply in the next say 10yrs.

Dear OP,
From my 18months experience in the power industry (The Grid) where we control, stabilize and sanction all the generating plants in the country, I believe 10 years from now, It is practically impossible because of the following:
1. We are still re-commissioning most power plants OBJ built(90% completion)
2. The rigid people benefiting from importation of Generators will not allow it to happen and keep in mind that they're circle of friends with our politicians
3.When Late Bola Ige became the power and Steel minister during OBJ's tenure, he fumbled on 'Tuesday Live' anchored by Cyril Stober that within 6months, there will be constant electricity.
4.There is a need for us to be really serious if we want to have constant electricity in 10years and we are yet to start the foundation.
5.In a sane society, the industries take their problems to research/Universities to solve their problem. In Nigeria, almost all our system has failed us.
6.Finally, Truth is: "reliable, efficient and constant" are 3 very distinct qualities, that will not arrive at the same time. It's an arguable proposition whether quantity is less important than. Because demographics change constantly, any targets would also change.Rather than set a "when" target, I'd set a baseline customer perception index, review how that moves and deliver. Carrots and sticks to Discos based on what that Index tells me about their performance.

how much is it to stamp at ministry of foreign affairs. someone I sent said they told him 1700 or 2500 for fast tracking, at the gate though. They did not allow him enter cos they claim u can only come btw 9-12am

Settled, just thought will be useful to share. Nigerians too like money. They told him at the gate 2k5, to do it immediately and get it back in 2 hours or 1700 to come back the next day btw 9-12 am n pay 1k7.

I told him, it is not so and should make more inquiries.

Happens that after much asking, he was asked to pay 850 n come back for it in two hours.

It's like pricing meat inside MFA, from 2k5 per page to 850 per page.....

It is well with our public servants!

You can see how deep the corruption is.
When someone says he would sweep corruption out of Nigeria, I always laugh in Mandarin.
Believe me, the negotiated money is PR(No receipt).
I shaked my head in 2013 and I almost wept for the nation.

Hey folks,
I need help with some urgent info. How much does it cost to legalize documents at the MFA ? Do you happen to know anyone there ? Someone told me it was 5k per document. If that is the case, the bill nor go small at all. I have many documents to attest.

Nigerians like milking themselves, the standard price is 500/page but that will take 1week.
I did fast track(which is like a norm) and paid 1000/page.
If you need someone in Abuja to do it for you, contact me. She is not my family but I am sure she'll get it done( she does that for living)

Hello Everyone,

Am new here. I have a B.Sc in Mathematics with CPGA of 4.59/5.00 from a federal university in Nigeria. Someone should help me with universities that offer scholarship to M.Sc research based program.

Thanks

Hi , Next month the University of Pavia will release a call for application into the Fund for cooperation and knowledge scholarship. There are other scholarships too like chevening and Erasmus Mundus. If you have a good statement of purpose, you are guaranteed these scholarships with the result you have.

Ay50, I sincerely do not understand you at all. It's only been 12 hours or so you mentioned that you're fed up with Italy application and won't be applying and that you are taking up the Germany offer. What exactly do you want to do ? In 24 hours, you've said 2 different things. Studying abroad isn't like a walk in a park. All this translation stuff is on VFS website. Please take time and read the thread, you'll find answers to your questions.

DanIndia Kudos to you. I love the way you answer questions. Are you still in Italy?

@egbeman i will appreciate alot... pls send me the procedure and ur number inclusively though in i will be going to abuja this weekend, so by monday i can get everything done and then return to lagos.... my main issue is now the fee, according to my letter, my tuition fee is 1,200 per year, and i can pay in two installment way, see o my question is the first year fee is 1200 that means i can pay 1200 twice right cause total fee is around 2400euro to finish all program

Road to success isn't smooth. I can imagine the situation. Send me PM and let's start relating from there. Now, what you need is encouragement.
Please, don't let your first class waste just because of your location due to political instability and vested interest in Afica.
However, most Western Nations are overrated don't expect much from them but to be sincere with you, studying abroad is SWEET and demanding.
I can share my little experience with you via Whatsapp.
Keyword: Don't give up. Pay the price now and get the prize later.
Best wishes.

I have applied to many schools so far. I got rejected at unibo(I wasnt surprised though), waiting to hear from unibz, unipd, unibz, polimi and polito. I am interested in any agricultural programmes, energy engineering or environmental engineering

Hmmm, the internet has virtually reduced the world to a global village.
Let me connect you with a prospective Masters degree student of UNIBS.

Pls try it out. I am also applying with second class lower

Don't be deceived my 2,2.
Although I graduated with 2'1.
My friend graduated with 2,2 (not even 3pointsmth/5). When he got here, he adapted very well because most lecturers here are 'teachers'. 'Teaching is their passion.', they speak English fluently, they are ready to take responsibility.
You can send me private message.
I derive joy when I see people moving not being static.
I am sure you're going to integrate fully into the system provided you make studying your priority because distractions here is CHEAP(Almost Free).

University of Pavia, Italy offers Medicine in English and Italian.
You should check it out.
It is always competitive but if you prepare well enough, you should be shortlisted and Nigerians are also following the course.
I am sure that yours wont be an exception.
Just take your time and use the best tool(s) to search.

Regards!
