You know the reason I was in support of Van gaal. First, He bloods in youth. Secondly, when I thought of all he archived with players like Darmain, Rojo, Depay, Herrera, ageing Carrick, Morgan et al in the league, I know he would do much more better when he finally get the right players in.

He brought in all those players you listed in your final paragraph except Carrick. He had built his team and it was pure nonsense. We gave him a 3 year contract not 20 years.

Van gaal was on the verge of building a team. That's the main fact. It was almost like his time at Ajax or Alkamar where he had a disastrous second season with lot of youth teams only to blood them fully in his third season and clinch the title.

Furthermore, we have quality youth team to back him up.

I stated that the tactic prevented us from conceding a lot with all those rubbish players. There's no way we could look good with those rubbish players BTW.

And that was why I used the Bournemouth game as an example. We had roughly the same players that played under Van gaal in that game for example but then, we looked shite in every department whether going forward or in the middle. Fortunately, Bournemouth had a shite defence that made a lot of mistake to gift us goals.

Don't forget Bailley was our man of the match. We were quite open through the middle and still looked shite going forward as well.

Van Gaal tactic at least made us compact through the middle because he knows the players weren't good enough. That's why I would say it wasn't the tactic but the shite players because regardless of the tactic, they all looked shite going forward, especially through the middle as seen in the Bournemouth game.

I wanted LVG NOT to make top 4 if that was gonna keep him at the club and that was the best decision for the club. A lot of United fans wished similar and there's no shame in it. I don't regret it even one bit. Making top 4 isn't success (ask Arsenal fans) so i wasn't even wishing failure for United. I know what success and failure is. Exactly. The stoke team that earned that reputation is long gone. Tony Pulis was the one that built them up and he doesn't manage them currently. I think Shawcross is the only reminder of that old team in current one IIRC. Stoke don't play that kind of football anymore.

I think City played well overall and deserved the win but I think it's too early and naive to start drawing all sort of conclusions. City started last season even better and were the favorites and this season are the favorites again and deservedly so.

We're a touch slower than other teams. a more incisive team with soton's speed would hurt us.

We played very risky football and our team/squad with so many new faces still lacks cohesion so it's not far fetched we lost the possession game to the saints. Mourinho isn't a possession fanatic either and is trying to take off the shackles of LVG style. It's early in the season and there's still time to build our coordination and work on that but currently it's the results that we need and what matters is that we are getting it.

The main and probably the major negative from tonight was Martial.

Martial's case is complicated. I think he's getting fitter and once he gets a goal, it's BOOM.

Jose would do well to keep him in the team and get him back at his best. Martial's skill set is still unique as he's the only attacking player at an high level capable of running at opposition defenses and taking them apart with his dribbling. That always come in handy.

It's more complicated than you think. Martial was our best attacking player last season but he might have started this season poorly due to various reasons like poor match fitness levels, low confidence etc and benching him wouldn't solve these kind of problems (but would instead do the reverse like lower his confidence) so Jose might actually be trying to play him into proper match fitness levels.

If after all these nothing changes, then he needs some kick up his аss (and Jose would be right to bench him).

But if he comes good, then it's in our very best interest.

Once Martial hits form again, our attack would click massively. We have the lead but it was an average half at best from us.
