The 3 - in - 1 setup:

Circular C - band LNB at the top,
Pauxis 0.1db KU lnb at the middle (yellow plastic cover) and
Linear C - band LNB at the bottom.

@all,

It has taken a while but as promised these are the pictures of the renovation works
carried out on my 3-in-1 motorised COMSTAR dish recently.

Brief sypnosis:

1) Jack was getting stuck in one position too frequently
2) Signal loss on mostly the KU lnb and circular C band
3) Troubleshooting results pointed to a weak LNB and too small jack wire

So, off I went and swung into action.

1) Changed out circular C band lnb from STRONG K5 to K6
2) Changed out under-performing Ku premium 2 lazer lnb with Pauxis 0.1db lnb
3) Changed out regular jack wire and replaced with 1.5mm 4-core flex cable
4) Changed out under-performing so-called heavy duty jack in favor of regular 24inch jack

Result: My dish is back and better.

Ok, now to the pictures:

@One4me,

What you need is fastsatfinder. You can download it here:

http://www.fastsatfinder.com/fsf.html

Take note that is not free though. If you like it, pay for it.

@All,

Over the weekend, I carried out much needed renovation works on my 3 -in - 1 comstar dish and
the results have been so splendid!
Right now I'm in the process of re-tracking the dish. A lot of new godies to explore. New positions,
New HD channels on C - band. My dish all seems to have bounced back from the cold!

Pictures coming soon!

Technology Market / Re: Brand New Blackberry Z30 For Quick Sales - 50K (No longer available) by GeorgeD1(m): 2:25pm On Aug 25, 2014
hi,

thanks to all who showed interest in this phone. unfortunately, offer has elapsed.

especially for the lagos guys, sorry i couldn't send this over for physical checks, neither was it necessary though.

this poster never got scammed by inspired_m when he sent this much amount over the net for these beauties:

https://www.nairaland.com/409061/geroge-ds-2006-highlander-mrs/9#11463163

so never was going to leave the country or go into hiding because of 50k (what would i be thinking?)

ok, that's by the way.

and, about that innocent old woman? hmmmmmmm! i think she finally didn't feature much in this. wink

but Mr I (INDECISION) did! grin

akplatnum2005: well done bro, was able to glance tru ur previous effort on badr4-6, they were awesome. What do u think of 1.8 pan dish location: Abj to track badr 4-6?

@akplatnum2005,

For Abuja, you will need up to 3m for badr 4 although you may get a few channels from badr 5 & 6 with lesser dish,
MBC, BBC world, fox series, etc will not pop.
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by GeorgeD1(m): 10:14am On Aug 22, 2014
Binsule:
Hello sir, its good to see you, how I wish u will recommend 1.8m and abovE to track nilesat mbc here in Area (warri), any hope for a better lnb to do so?

@Binsule,
I wish I could say that but the reality on ground for now requires we use 3m and above for nilesat here.
Even with the 3m, only a handful of the channels will pop and they may not stay 24/7 with this everyday rain.
For best results, think of 3.5 to 4m.
As for LNB,stargold fuji remains king - assuming of course you can't lay your hands on the RED CLASSIC.

Just in case for those wondering, this phone is neither defective nor stolen and I'm not desperate to sell.
Deals like this come once in a blue moon and for the discerning few, they always rush to grab them.

If this one passes you by, pls don't blame the innocent old woman in the village.
Don't blame your neighbour. Well, you know who to blame!

Talenty: I tried all I could to track MBC on badr 4 with 1.8 meters in Benin city but no way. All I could I get was MBC HD @ Badr 6 and Algeria MUX @74%. where do I get Technosat T876 or any other receiver to view these channels?

You need minimum of 3m and above to track MBC badr 4 in Benin & environs.

You can't run a grid tied system in Nigeria.

correct! and that's exactly my point. anybody trying to run a hybrid system without batteries may well
be living in dreamland.

Perhaps an electrical engineer can grab this problem by the horn and create something. ..

tundebabzy,
there's really no need to re-invent the wheel. except your running a grid-tie system, you just can't rule out
using batteries. apart from being a store of energy, batteries also provide one important yet overlooked function:
they serve as a buffer for your inverter. this means that they guarantee a steady supply of current at controlled
voltage regardless of solar module output (much like a stabilizer - when you think ac voltage).

abunafiu,
totalgreen,
bodejohn,
all,

the recent thunder strike that took out my bls (battery life saver) unfortunately has also affected my tristar remote meter (ts-rm-2).
the unit started behaving funny a couple of weeks back and has now finally gone blank.

it's gone, jimmy, gone! angry

ok. I'm already shopping for a replacement. hmmm! what thunder can do!

TotalGreen: where is everyone... am i on the wrong thread?

brother,
since the recent near collapse of nl, a couple of us have suddenly realised that there is life outside of the stream. smiley

ok, just joking. I (and I guess a couple of other guys) have been busy making a decent living in the real world. deadlines to
meet, issues to sort out, et al. but I'm back now and kicking.

break the myth!

Wiserfool: Chineke! Six months of data wiped out! Anyway, God has His own means, He saw that newbies were posting rubbish, the moderator was behind bars, so He sent Angel Gabriel to clean the mess. From now on lets follow rules, lets post relevant issues in appropriate threads if we are to avoid this catastrophe again.

Brother, this is certainly not the work of Angel Gabriel. I smell hackers anonymous from several miles away!

BTW while rejoicing over the so called cleaning of slate, we might as well weep for the loss of invaluable information
like olenyi said, that was wiped away with the same stroke. Talk of throwing away the baby along with the bath water!

Grrrrrrr! angry
