In its war against internet fraud across the country, the Abuja Zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on Monday September 9, 2019 raided the residences of suspected yahoo-yahoo fraudsters at No 16 Isaaya Shukari Crescent, Gwarinmpa and C15 & A27 City of David Estate, Life Camp Abuja. 8 suspects were arrested in the operation.

Those arrested are: Chiyiri Izuchi, Nurala Eze Kamchi, Amuka Shadrack, Nwegbediegwu Chekwubechukwu J, Chigbo Eze, Franklin Okafor, Ezeagwu Olisaemeka and Nnamani Chukwudera.

The raid followed intelligence gathering, anonymous tips and showcase of their flamboyant lifestyle which were said to have been derived from fraudulently ripping unsuspecting members of the public, including foreigners of their hard earned monies.

Some of the items recovered include several mobile phones, laptop computers, several International Passports, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Avalon, Lexus 15 250, Mercedes 4matic C350, Mercedes C280, Mercedes GLA 280 and an Acura. They will be charged to court soon.

A Zambian female banker was suspended for allegedly sleeping with over 200 men while promising them jobs. And Nigerians have a lot to say about it.

Mutale Winfridah, branch senior executive of ZANACO bank, was suspended by bank management for sleeping with over 200 different men, both clients and job seekers.

Mutale, 39, was suspended after more than 10 men formally lodged complaints against her, claiming she had used her influence as a branch senior bank executive to "enjoy their bed energies" after promising them jobs at the bank and approving their bank loan applications.

Nigerians found the news amusing and reacted across various platforms. Some men pleaded for the woman to be sent to Nigeria. Others said Nigerian men will never report such. And actor Yomi Black insinuated that Yoruba men would have been grateful for such an opportunity.

A tricycle rider, Jamiu Oriade, has accused a policeman, identified as Samson Mayaki, of assaulting him for wrongful parking.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Mayaki allegedly attacked Oriade last Wednesday around 9pm in the Sabo area of Lagos while he was waiting to pick his sister.

Oriade told our correspondent that Mayaki assaulted him with a plank for allegedly parking in front of his car.

He added that efforts to get the cop arrested had proved abortive as he was said to be connected to high-ranking officers of the force.

He said, “I parked my tricycle on Wednesday night while waiting for my sister; the policeman suddenly emerged and started beating me. He said I parked in front of his car and when I tried to reverse to avoid trouble, he turned back and I thought he wanted to start his engine, only for him to start beating me again with his fists, which led to the passenger sitting in front and I to fall in the gutter.

“The people around said I should not confront him because he is a policeman and I accepted, but when I was about entering my tricycle, Mayaki removed the plank that I put my extra tyre on and started beating my hands and head with it till blood started gushing out from my body.

“I went to the Sabo Police Station to report and on my way to the station, I saw Mayaki and he boasted that nothing would happen to him even if we met the Commissioner of Police and since the day I reported the incident, nothing has been done to him.

“The IPO said he invited Mayaki but he didn’t come, and whenever I called the IPO to ask for updates, he would tell me that he would call me back, which he never did.”

An eyewitness, identified simply as Iya Adamo, whose wares were destroyed during the scuffle, lamented the loss she incurred as a result.

She said, “On Wednesday night, the policeman started beating Jamiu in front of my shop and all my goods fell down, but when I complained to the policeman, he gave me a blow to the eye. He smashed my eggs and when I took the remnants to the station, I was told to take them back.

“The loss is on me now because the supplier has started asking for her money; Mayaki smashed up to seven crates of egg.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, who confirmed the incident, said an investigation had commenced into the matter.

“The policeman is no longer with the Lagos command; he has been transferred to a unit under the force headquarters, but we have written to the unit and we are making efforts to get him to respond to the allegations,” Elkana stated.

The Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Imo State Police Command has arrested a notorious armed robber, Ogochukwu Mbisike, popularly known as Ogogo.

The state Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Ladodo, said the suspect was arrested on St. Patrick Street, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Ladodo said the suspect and his gang members fired at the SARS personnel on sighting them.

He said a pistol and 16 rounds of ammunition were recovered from the suspect’s house.

He said, “On August 28, on St. Patrick Street Port Harcourt, Rivers State, SARS officials, led by ASP Banjoko Oluweimo, while acting on a tip-off, arrested one Ogochukwu Mbisike, aka, Ogogo, 36 years old, from Amure Omanze Isu in Isu Local Government Area of Imo State.

“The suspect and some of his gang members, on sighting the security personnel, opened fire, but he was demobilised by a superior firing power of the SARS operatives.

“An instant search was carried out in his new home where one Beretta American pistol, Batch No. 62385 with 15 rounds of 9mm ammunition was recovered inside a sack containing food stuff.

“He was, however, rushed to hospital, having sustained gunshot injuries on his two legs. He is confessing to various crimes committed both in Imo and some African countries.

“He has confessed to the recent robbery of one Agaptu Chigozie on August 14 in Orlu, Imo State. Not only was the victim robbed of his N1.6m, and $1,000, he was also shot in the neck.”

The state police commissioner added that investigation had commenced as effort was on to arrest other members of the gang.

Afropop singer, Yemi Alade, has said that she might never do a music project with Tiwa Savage, because of the “troubles” from their fans.

In an interview with Ndani TV, Alade said a collaboration might not attract positive reactions from the public.

“All my life when have been choosing collaborations, it is not based on how I feel. It’s unfortunate that with the feelings and troubles that people keep stirring in our ways, it probably will never allow us to ever have a collaboration. Because you’re not sure the outcome would even be positive or be over run by negative things and all the fights.

“When we do music, we do it so people can be happy, so when we do a song together, what are we fueling? What are we encouraging? That’s the most important question when I do collaborations, there is an aim. I think what would be would be,” Alade said.

In December 2018, the duo had engaged in a heated war of words on social media, after Alade claimed some female artistes enlarge their buttocks in photos to deceive fans.

Blackface claims rights to African Queen, a rift began over who owned the rights to the hit song ‘African Queen’ after it success.

According to Blackface, he gave 2face the right to sing the song but he never got credited as a writer by the label that released it nor any acknowledgement from the singer while the song did so many numbers and won many awards since 2003/2014 till date.

However, 2face included a third verse he wrote to the music when it was produced by OJB but Blackface took that verse out and included the third he had written to make this version of his own totally written by himself .

What Don Jazzy, Dr. Sid said about Big Brother housemates after visit to house

Mavin Records producer, Don Jazzy has spoken for the first time after visiting the ‘pepper dem’ housemate earlier on Saturday.

Dr. Sid, a top member of the record label, who visited the Big Brother housemates alongside Don Jazzy, also shared his experience.

Dr Sid described the housemates as amazing people, adding that it would be hard to see anyone of them leave the house on Sunday.

We had reported on Saturday that Don Jazzy and Dr Sid paid the housemates a surprised visit.

Dr Sid tweeted, “Had a great time in the @BBNaija house today all the housemates are amazing people.

“I really enjoyed all their energies. It’s gonna be hard to see anyone of them get evicted.

Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the Director-General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), has confirmed that a surviving child in family of six that died in a room in Lagos on Wednesday has also died.

Oke-Osanyintolu confirmed the development in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Thursday.

He said that the child was confirmed dead at the Lagos State Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).

According to him, the surviving child, who was rushed to LASUTH on Wednesday for further treatment, has also been confirmed dead.

“Baba Ibeji, wife and five children, all residents of No 19, Olowoira Street, Mafoluku, that were rushed to Divine Hospital on that same street on Wednesday were confirmed dead.

“LASEMA has done the needful.

“We took the bodies, including the last child who has also died, to the mortuary at LASUTH for autopsy and further investigations,” Oke-Osanyintu said.

He said that the cause of the tragedy was unknown, adding that investigation was ongoing on the matter.

A correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), who visited the house where the incident took place, reported that the Oshodi-Isolo Local Government had sealed up the building to protect the other tenants.

One of the residents, Mr Kamoru Ajayi, said that their death was a shock to everyone in the house, adding that the deceased was an electrician named Zakariyahu Owojobi who was popularly known as `Cool Money’.

He said Owojobi died with his pregnant wife, four children and a cousin who came on holiday, adding that they had been living in the house for over 13 years now.

He said that a customer, who wanted to buy a bag from the wife, came and knocked at their door, but nobody answered and the co-tenants assisted her to open the door when they discovered that four of them were already dead.

An official of the Divine Hospital said the mother as well as her unborn child were already dead before rushing them to the hospital.

The official told NAN that the surviving child was still alive before LASEMA took him and the other deceased to LASUTH.

One of the landlord’s daughters, Mrs Adija Badaru, said the deceased cooked dinner in previous night and her 17-year-old daughter, who ate with them, was still alive.

She said that the family members did not die from food poisoning since the immediate neighbour of the deceased and her child who had dinner with them were still alive.

Badaru said that neighbours rushed out of the room when they entered to rescue them due to offensive odor.

A 29-year-old mother of four children, Mrs Chinasa Odah, a native of

Inikiri Effum community, in the Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State has died after she allegedly took drugs for abortion.

She was said to have bled to death at Sudan Hospital on Saturday, August 24, 2019.

Our correspondent gathered that the woman had been sneaking out to have an affair with her 25-years-old boy-friend, identified as Monday Mgbada, who allegedly impregnated her and administered the abortion pills on her.

A community source told City Round that the woman started bleeding and her husband, Michael Odah, rushed her to Sudan Hospital in the area, where a doctor on duty, confirmed that she had taken a substance capable of damaging her womb.

The case was said to have been reported to the police station in Effuim and the suspect was immediately arrested.

“Chinasa was bleeding from her private parts. When she was questioned, she opened up that one Monday Mgbada impregnated her and administered abortion drugs on her. As soon as she made that statement, she gave up the ghost,” the source said.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Ebonyi State, Loveth Odah, confirmed the incident. She, however, said the matter was still under investigation.

She said, “The man has been arrested and investigation is ongoing. The suspect will be arraigned after investigation. The woman is 29 years old and has four children before going for extra martial affairs. The man will be charged with murder.”

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, on Monday, received in his palace, all the 21 controversial kings elevated by former Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State.

The monarch, who marked his 91st birthday on Monday, was hosting the Chief Yemi Soladoye-led Central Council of Ibadan indigenes, when the visitors arrived.

The Otun Olubadan, High Chief Lekan Balogun, led other high chiefs, including Baales in Ibadan, who were on August 27, 2017 given crowns by the former governor in a single day.

Until recently when Balogun embraced reconciliation with four other high chiefs, others stuck to their guns and distanced themselves from palace activities.

But around 1.15pm on Monday, Balogun led the aggrieved high chiefs and Baales to the palace after two years’ abscence.

Amidst fanfare, the monarchs who did not wear their crowns prostrated to the monarch one after another as he (Olubadan) welcomed them.

Makinde had last week began an out-of-court settlement, which was welcomed by all.

The high chiefs led by Balogun, who came to pay birthday homage to Olubadan include Balogun, Owolabi Olakulehin; Osi Balogun, Tajudeen Ajibola; Asipa Olubadan, Eddy Oyewole; Ekarun Olubadan, Amidu Ajibade; and Ekarun Balogun, Kola Adegbola.

They joined the Iyalode of Ibadanland, High Chief Theresa Oyekanmi; Agbaakin Olubadan, Senior Chief Lekan Alabi; Mogajis and Baales from all the 11 Local Government Councils in Ibadanland to celebrate Olubadan who clocked 91.

However, Osi Olubadan, Rashidi Ladoja, Asipa Balogun, Lateef Adebimpe and Ekerin Olubadan, Biodun Kola Daisi, who were not in town, sent apologies.

Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, the Ekarun Olubadan, Ajibade congratulated the first-class monarch on his birthday, saying Olubadan had made history for himself and Ibadanland.

He said Ibadan was one under the leadership of Olubadan and they all were his high chiefs and were proud to be associated with him.

The Balogun of Ibadanland, Olakulehin then led the Chiefs on Balogun line in the traditional knock on the door requested Kabiyesi to approve the promotion of the chiefs in the Balogun line.

After consenting, he paid, on behalf of the chiefs, the mandatory sum of N200,000 to Olubadan.

Olubadan thanked and invited them to the promotion exercise of chiefs in Iyalode line which is expected to start on Friday.

Two years ago, the elevation/coronation of chiefs, polarised the once united Olubadan-In-Council as the monarch opposed the said reform carried out by the state government.

One of the high chiefs, also a former governor of the state, Ladoja, instituted a court action and won in a landmark judgment delivered by Justice Aiki who described all the processes that led to the installation of new kings as illegal, null, void the and of no effect.

The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes on Monday hailed the truce between the monarch and the estranged high chiefs.

The President of the CCII, Soladoye, in company with members of the executive council of the umbrella body of all Ibadan sons and daughters, sued for peace and lauded Makinde for the out-of-court settlement.

The CCII president said, “Kabiyesi, we are indeed very happy and delighted to meet you in this radiant, regal and relaxed posture which is a testimony to the fact that the tension which has enveloped Ibadanland and its traditional institution for some two years now has reduced.
