Politics / Re: $650m Abuja Medical City Planned By FG by Godogwu: 12:01am On Feb 14, 2013
HNosegbe: But why MUST it be in Abuja? Shouldn't the Federal Government be thinking about how to spread development across the country? Why not construct SIX of these across the geo-political zones?

The effect of this will only be to make Abuja more and more attractive, whereas true development can only be driven from the grassroots.

This move might well prove counter-intuitive.

I get your point though, but do you see the figure laid out for one of these hospitals? ($650m).... 6 of those would cost about $4bn, that's about Adenuga's worth..... I agree with you nevertheless and I believe more would come after this one but its going to be systematically, maybe when this one done, two others would follow right off the back of its completion.

....AFRICANS ARE WASTEFUL PEOPLE...later someone would say its religion dats stoping Africa from progressing....so if de win world cup..the whole nation shud be seeded to them?..what of solders and policeman that are been wasted in d course of protecting d nation?...are they doing less....?...its totally outrageous...

Nitwit!!!! Every nation celebrates athletes greater than the average citizen, especially when they get the gold. Do you knw hw many endorsements They get? Go and educate yourself on how much "Amercian football" players earn every year and compare that to what these boys get. Some of them earn the combined amount given to these boys in one year. Police officers do a duty to the nation, they are paid... They knw the economic restrictions to the job but they don't care because they are serving their Country! Get with it!!!

olushowunm: @GODOGWU... I HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE TAKE ISSUES PERSONALLY AND I DON'T LIKE OPEN CONFRONTATIONS... SINCE YOU BELIEVE AS A DUMBHEAD YOU ARE THAT DANGOTE AND OTHERS HAVE DONE GREAT BY WASTING OUR RESOURCES! YOU ARE ENTITLED TO YOUR MYOPIC OPINION... ANYTHING ELSE IS JUST A WASTE OF MY TIME RESOURCES... BUT LEARN HOW TO TALK TO STRANGERS, STUPID DUMB-HEAD!

I cannot be bothered about how you feel..... I'm just stating the obvious. Please how did Dangote waste "your" resources, do you own any acre of land where any of his cement plants are? Do you know that he is the largest producer of cement in Africa? Thereby making Nigeria the largest producer and exporter of cement in the continent? Please have sense... Frankly I detest it when "complainers" like yourself who have done virtually nothing for your village or community not to speak of a state or country condemn people who go the extra mile and make achievements for the nation.... It's quite silly and you are........ Nahh I'm done with you

olushowunm: I THINK I'M GOING TO SOUND DIFFERENTLY ON THIS ISSUE... FIRST, PLEASE TAKE MY CONTRIBUTION AS OBJECTIVE VIEW AND NOT AS PERSONAL ATTACK ON ANYBODY....
MY QUESTION IS WHY WASTE SO MUCH RESOURCES ON A FOOTBALL TEAM BECAUSE THEY WON A CUP
IT CAN ONLY HAPPENS IN AFRICA AND I KNOW IT MAY NEVER STOP! ITS GOOD TO PLAY FOR YOUR COUNTRY, BUT WHY WASTE MEAGRE RESOURCES THAT CAN BE CHANNELED TO DEVELOP OTHERS WHO MAY ONE DAY WIN SOMETHING THE COUNTRY ARE WE NOT IN NIGERIA, WHAT HAS MIKE ADENUGA, DANGOTE, OVIA AND ELUMELU DONE TO HELP YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS THAT WILL CREATE JOBS FOR YOUTHS LETS START WITH DANGOTE, HE HAS DONE VIRTUALLY NOTHING EXCEPT THE DANGOTE FOUNDATION WHICH IS NOT EVEN DOLING OUT CASH TO YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS THAT NEEDS THE CASH EXCEPT FOR THE MEDIA FRENZY THAT DANGOTE DONATES 5BILLION NAIRA!
ADENUGA HAVE DONE NOTHING TO ENCOURAGE ENTREPRENEURSHIP EXCEPT WASTING RESOURCES FROM THE MASSES TO ENRICH FOOTBALLERS, MUSICIANS, AWUJALE AND OTHER CULTURAL FESTIVALS...

No offense though but you sound quite dumb. First of all most of these players earn crap to me ( the ones that play in Nigerian clubs) so i believe they fully deserve whatever they are given. I keep saying this; some Nigerians just want to sit in their homes doing nothing while the government provides their every need and I swear you are a nitwit if you think the FG is your mother or father that is meant to feed you.

Do you know Dangote and Adenuga are the highest employers in Nigeria?..... Dangote group is the highest employer of Nigerian youths at the moment. You said you don't know what his foundation is doing? Say that B.S to over 500 million dollars that has been put into that foundation.... Again which youths don't have jobs? The ones with third class degrees? Or the ones that studied mass com and want a job in shell or Nnpc? Please!!!!!!! Have a sit. \_______

The FG gave them honors, cash and plots of land.... They didnt give them 1/50th of the budget..... Just over a million dollars by my calculations. The enterprenuers actually gave more in terms of cash than the FG with roughly $2m from Dangote, $1m from Adenuga, and another $1m from Ovia and Elemelu.

Frankly I believe it's time Africa puts focus in sports, athletics and other aspects of life rather than just education. Everyone is definitely not cut out for school.

Finally you said this only happens in Nigeria yea?

Why are they in America if they're so affluent? Instead of being a second class citizen as an immigrant why not be a first class citizen in your own country?

Nitwit!!! My dad is a civil engineering graduate of UNN, my mum is also a graduate of Bus Admin she studied at the ohio state Uni. Now my dad has his own engineering firm, he has architects and civil engineers working for him, they build anything from houses to office complexes etc. he also has estates in lagos that he rents. My mother is a buisness woman and a contractor... She gets contracts to supply food and catering services for international companies, weddings, parties etc... She also has a boutique where she sells African to western attire.
We are the strong middle class of Nigeria, not everyone is as broke as you or your entire family!!... Get with it!! and my parents sent I and my brother abroad for our college education so we can get the best of it and come back to Nigeria to contribute to the already growing economy, infrastructure and elevated minds in the country. Mogidi: At £13,000 that equals to #3m a year/term. How is she able to raise this amount in a country where most live on less than two dollars a day?

Her parents are able to raise this because they work hard and earn their money, just like my parents. You should understand that everyone isn't as broke as you are... Look beyond your fence and your surroundings... There is a strong and ever growing middle class in Nigeria.
Nairaland / General / Re: Nigerian Student Verbally Abused In A UK Hospital by Godogwu: 8:48pm On Feb 04, 2013
DICKtator: serves the nigerian right. maybe that would be a wake up call for her and her likes to start a revolution in Nigeria. We have what it takes. Let us start to demand our rights from our leaders. They want to waste our generation. We should not allow them.
Heed the clarion call.
Let clean the Augean Stable /rot in the educational sector and all other sectors in Nigeria NOW
They do not care because their children are sent abroad with our money and they finish as at when due while they bastardise our own educational system, delay most graduates' calculated year of graduation, making it impossible for some to reach the age-limit benchmark set by most organisations . WAKE UP YOUTH. WE ARE THE LEADERS OF TOMORROW!!!!!!!
AND OUR TOMORROW IS TODAY!!!!!
grin grin grin grin

Look at this Nitwit!!. I get so angry when you guys say this "our money" shi!!.... You guys should understand that those so called politicians and government officials earn salaries and what te actual F u C K... It's not only politicians kids that school abroad, how many politicians are in the country; they don't even make up to 1% of the population!!! Give it a rest buddy. The sooner you realize the average middle class income earning person can send their child abroad to study...then you'll be more "informed".

Secondly, no matter how good Nigerian schools get equipped and renovated, people (Nigerians) will still send their kids abroad to study, just for the belief that "is better over there".... Sorta like "Western schools are the best because people prefer them and people prefer them cause thu are the best" it's that simple. I don't see any school coming out of Nigeria today thats gonna be rated higher than Harvard or Yale....Never ( except the Americans completely go dumb). Finally, its sorta the same thing with Asian students; they form the largest part of the international student committee anywhere especially in European countries. What would you say is their excuse because people would argue that the education system in China, Japan, SK and all is better than that of Countries in Africa... Despite all of that they still make a larger population of international students.

I'm an international student and if this sorta situation happens to me I'll put it clear to the woman that i am Nigerian and i pay for the services rendered to me in that country. Yea, my father is not a politician or any of a sort ... But he affords it and so do so many other Nigerians who make an earnest living.

pDude: Bleep all of you that say that statistical figure is faulty.

You ediots sit down in your houses in Lagos, Abuja, and other Nigeria cities, look outside your windows and see people dressing nice and stuff, then assume everyone in Nigeria is living nice.

Take a trip to the numerous rural areas in Nigeria which make up the majority of Nigeria's population and you will see where this statistical figure comes from.

You nitwit!! Those rural dwellers most of the time grow their own food and sell the excess... That's how they live yo!. Some of them have over 10 plots of land to farm on and you probably think you're better off cos you live in a 2 bed apt in Lagos .... And cos they live in the rural area, they are poor and are starving..... Sigh
Politics / Re: Blame Jonathan For Nigeria’s Woes – Obasanjo by Godogwu: 5:56pm On Feb 02, 2013
I swear!, its so dumb for Obj to blame Jonathan for the case of a Terrorist group!!!. Like! It's a terrorist group for crying out loud!, whether Jonathan is the CSO of the Nation doesn't matter..... Boko Haram is terrorist group linked to Al queda, they are not kidnappers or petty thieves. Finally, I believe Obj was right with reference to Achebe's claims, even at the moment two very important and essential ministers are "ibo" women, Okonjo iweala and Allison.
Frankly, I completely kick against the separation of Nigeria, our Ethnic differences should make us an even greater country. Only a few dimwits would think seperating the country would make their lives any better.
