Wow, my girls (and of course Boondoggle) are so smart, I'm so proud you all that are here for Aisha wink, Girl, as you can see, you are in good hands, And Tpia reminded me of something from her post, What also helped me get over such a crush was the fact that I saw the cheating spouse as unattractive/Plain nasty, pretty on the outside but deadly on the inside. I imagined myself as the wife and I wanted to cry-It's gotta be every good woman's worst nightmare. And you know, most these cheaters do not even leave their wife in the end. Yeah, they think they are slick, They need to watch out for girls like us huh! we'll set them straight!
Family / Re: Why Is The Man The Head Of The Family? by Godsgirl(f): 6:06pm On Aug 02, 2007
Well, I don't think so,  embarassed

I was talking about movement, but if you want to get technical, Both the head and the neck are equally important bc they are both connected to the CNS. Why do you think spinal cord injuries to the neck can leave a person with Quadriplegia?  For instance, Christopher Reeves aka "Superman" suffered a spinal cord injury to the neck and when he was paralyzed from the neck down, YES-His brain was alert but how far did it get him Definately not out of his wheel chair.

Movement is the key!!

Hey, they may call us a pain in the neck but they need us!! and we need 'em  cheesy

Boondoggle-No one could have summed this up better!! I wish all men of God could not just blurt out scripture but use it accurately the way you do. Please Please Please, I beg you in the name of Christ, Continue teach some of our brothers on naira rules and I pray you are never swayed by the remarks of some. Continue to be yourself and speak the WORD!
Romance / Re: Temptation by Godsgirl(f): 4:24am On Aug 02, 2007
@ Boondoggle

Yeah I hear you. You are absolutely correct kiss. One must def be prayed up in advance (a habit/lifestyle). The prayer I listed is not meant to be Verbatim. One can make up their own words. I actually made up that prayer as I was typing wink. What I am trying to say is that it was not in a book or anything I had written in the past but it is the concept that matters. God does not require us to say pretty, "well spoken" prayers anyway. We should be in a habit of speaking to him in a conversational matter-daily.

Also, about temptation- I do not believe we can pray to avoid temptation. Temptation is inevitable/part of life. Even Jesus was tempted so we will be also. The issue is "falling into" the temptation. I know I know I know  undecided Psalm 23 says "lead us not into temptation" but I would read this in the context to understand what David was going through at that time when he prayed it.

So, nwa nne'm nwoke, temptation, unfortunately will always be with us but we will be of good cheer bc Christ has conquered it all Himself. We will be prepared for the devil with scriptures like Christ himself used, In this scenario, the devil says "Hey Godsgirl, check out this hot good looking dude, he is everything you ever wanted, then I can say: "yeah, i know but there is one problem, he is married." The devil says, "so what? no one has to know." and I say: "It is written, thou shall not commit adultry"

cool huh!

Hey BDG, check out my other threads, the ones i created, support a sister will ya?

Wow, this is another discussion we talked about in group last night. The topic was on Domestic Violence. It is never an easy topic and I am sorry to hear about your ordeal. First things first, I want you to know that you are beautiful and this was not your fault-no matter what he says. However, if you have not gotten out of that relationship, it might be a good idea that you do so before the abuse escalates. The statistics and clips I saw on this were disturbing. What you may feel is not love-Love is kind and should'nt hurt. After you separate, you may need time alone (by yourself) to evaluate yourself, to love, know and esteem "you" to prevent the next relationship from ending up the same way. Most women continue to attract abusive men due to lack of self evaluation and a lack of self esteem. The good men are out there honey, get to the back of line, I and some other ladies have been waiting before you arrived, wink

At Boondogle,

Oh yeah brother- Here's your reply: anyhow, anyway-I did it. Whenever I found myself daydreaming of the dude. I prayed under my breath at work and sometimes I cried, in private: I screamed "Lord where are you?" and other times when I just did not have a clue as to what to say undecided, I prayed in the Spirit. I do get hit on daily by men and I even have to wear a silver band on my wedding ring finger to keep some away.

Aisha will be in Good hands with our Daddy (God) I am confident, but as you said Boondogle, we have no excuse so she will need to put on that full armor for this one wink I admire her-she sounds like a good girl with a good head on her shoulders so I choose to take her issue personally and continue praying for her.

Religion / Re: Is Pastor Kumuyi Our Best Holiness Preacher? by Godsgirl(f): 5:45pm On Aug 01, 2007
My dear, take my word for it-God can really defend himself. Most people here have heard the gospel. Some have even experienced hurt from Christians who have misrepresented God. Therefore when you speak to them, try to keep that in mind and say a prayer that their hurt will be healed. The great commision is fufilled when one more person has heard the gospel. If they have heard it, they are faced with a choice to take it or leave it. We as Christians must move on to others who have not heard it, Eventually, everyone will answer to what they did with what they heard.

I am not a Deeper Lifer. I am a non-denominational Christian. However,  I acquaint with DL folks and I respect them with all my being  wink.

It is sad to see how arguments such as this have led several Christians to backslide bc the point is merely to intimidate the person, I tried to defend God once and when the Holy Spirit made it clear to me that God is "God all by Himself"-I laid off. It is only the Holy Spirit that can touch the heart of man.

Do not worry about who you thought was on your side or not- Try to forgive em and let it go.

Veracious Sweetie: The Lord placed this on my heart to give you since last night: 1 Peter Chap 2, vs 15. You have done your best. Remember what Christ says we should do when we are not welcome? Therefore, staying on this subject any more than you have might keep a grudge in your heart for these people and I am sure you do not want that,

I love you girl,

How did all this start? Is this really neccessary, really??

What is the use of hurling insults at one another? It is either you believe or don't. SIMPLE. It is your right. I will appreciate not having my personal email flooded with notifications only to find insults from one to another bc of their belief. I did not bargain for this by joining this forum. I am extremely disgusted and disappointed in the way this topic is being handled. I do not think anyone on 'Naira Rules' is a child (@ least i hope not). You all should be aware that you have a right to your belief. It is called "free will."  Must we be kicked off of the forum by Naira Rules before we learn to respect each other? MY GOODNESS!!! LET IT GO! angry
Please- Does anyone know how to cancel a request for notifications-I have attmpted the regular route twice/does not seem to be working. Thanks!

Romance / Re: Temptation by Godsgirl(f): 3:51pm On Aug 01, 2007
Honey, you will not fall. I went through the same thing 2 years ago. You may be surprised to find that several Christians go through the same thing. It's called a "crush." It just happened that most men crushed on in the past were married-The devil knew that I was interested in the "family" kind of guys that were ready to settle down so he tempted me. You see, the devil will always have a substitute for God's children. Unfortunately, some settle for these substitutes because they see it as "at least having something." I refused to settle and after passing a few temptations, he got tired and left me alone, only to come back with stronger temptations. I could not fight the devil's temptations on my own so all forces in Heaven was with me. The minute I declared in my heart that I could not and will not have a relationship with a married man- The war started. My reason for not wanting this was not because it does not "look" right but because I will never be able to sleep at night. When I gave my life to Christ, I literally did that: "gave" everything to him (including all my desires) I laid it all out on the alter. The Holy Spirit came to dwell in me because I invited Him.

But enough about me.  cheesy

My advice to you (based on my experience) is this: Continue to earnestly seek the Lord about these feelings. If you allow yourself to be led by your flesh-you will reap decay. I know it is hard to crucify the flesh (but that is what Christ meant when He said we will have to suffer certain things.) This is what I prayed: "Lord, now you know I have had a crush on this man for some time now. unfortunately, I just realised that he is married and I know that it is against your will for me to do this. Therefore, I need your help and I need it fast!! Holy Spirit-please take control of my actions and my words and Christ do what whatever you have to do to keep our (me and the married man) paths from crossing. I am certain that I have prayed your will because it is according to your word, I thank you for answering it and I look forward to having a different outlook on this man and that he also will lose that kind of interest he has in me. I have prayed this in Christ's name. Amen!

Girl, If you believe that prayer, I have no doubt that by tomorrow, your feelings for this man will change. You just gotta mean it because God looks at the heart and cannot be mocked. I know it is hard but He knows your struggles. Don't forget to ask for more GRACE-you are going to need it. Before you know it, you will look back at your thread and laugh.

Take care and know that you are in my prayers love.

I am not talking about a State-State connection. I mean: COUNTRY-COUNTRY

Before you ask me or jump to conclusions I will tell you my own reponse: "No, I cannot do it" Reason: Because I spend most of each year in the United States.
                                        Your turn:
Male or female in Nigeria: Can you see yourself in a country-country relationship?
Male or female in the US: Can you see yourself in a country-country relationship?

Can you? Yes or No. You may state your reason (if you wish). Simple as that! No need to disrespect anyone else's response, just speak for yourself please!!

For all the men who are concerned by ulterior motives to using the words "I love you" to a man.

I do understand your concern as most of you speak from experience so I respect that. However, I refuse to accept anything extravagant from any man that I am not married to or engaged to. The times in my life when I was offered something of great magnitude, I was skeptical at the reason why anyone would do such a thing for me without even an enegagement. I can understand if it was someone that the Lord sent to bless me with a gift. But usually, these type of messengers go about their business after they have been obedient and blessed you. such usually insist:"The Lord wanted me to bless you with this" and boom, I never see them again. However, as for the men that want to hang around me after giving me a gift-no message from the Lord-no engagement, etc, I can only conclude that they have an ulterior motive for doing what they do for me. I have seen too many girls get hurt in this area. I do not want to become a statistic.

Ummm, Of course I have a sense of humor wink but I sure am not stupid, One can't shoot down a person and then say "Just kidding" can they? Just as you can't just insult someone and say-"just kidding". You have said what you wanted to say. Your point was very loud and clear. That is all that really mattered.

I really have nothing against you. It's just part of life and getting to know how other people think. That's all. I'm yet to encounter other interesting characters here on Nairaland-but not to worry-"I'm a big girl"

@K0be

You call me dumb because I do not understand a slang?? hmmm,  FYI, that is the major reason why I joined the forum in the first place-to learn the various slangs used now by the majority of Nigerian pop.  2 visits a year to Nigeria cannot make me a "pro" you know? If you have an advantage in the area, do not assume that everyone does, I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH "ASSUMPTIONS ARE QUITE DANGEROUS AND TELLING OF ONES IGNORANCE ON A GIVEN ISSUE"

Would it have pleased you if I just made an assumption that "tear rubber babe" referred to "ripping a condom"? and just gone on being ignorant without asking questions?

Really, I'm interested in your response, humour me some more, will ya?

Wow, everyone has such interesting views on this (I knew I could trust Nairaland users to be real), But what if the girl who is saying this has never said it to anyone else? What if she has tried her best not to feel this but it is just too overwhelming and scary? What if she has not even slept with the man? what if she has not even asked or accepted a thing from him? and the man on the other hand shows love w/o saying the words, as Suze had pointed out (thanks girl wink)

You see people, The word "love" has been used out of context in so many ways. Mistaken for lust. So much so that when a man has experienced hurt in the past, he won't even be able to recognize true love when it does come. This is a food for the thoughts of those who are interested. Stayed tuned for part 2 of this post.

2. It could stirr up some healthy jealousy (not knowing who is watching his pretty lil mama),
3. Help us focus on each of our personal growth (finish school, business projects/trips, no distractions),
4. It's always fun to see someone you have not seen in a while-(That anticipation-waiting at the airport for you/him, the tight hug, the kiss, the flowers, their perfume on your nose hhhhmmAhhhh!)
5. Having to cry for um from the way to the airport to the gate, letting go, the kiss, the hug,

Must I continue? "Go for it!"

Girl, that is totally fine with me. Incase you did not notice, I spoke for my personal belief. Here is an excerpt from my prev post: "If you are not a believer, then find out how an issue such as this is handled in your own area of belief."

If you have no belief, my comment does not apply to you. I speak for myself to avoid making assumptions that everyone is with me on a particular issue. It really isn't my intention to get others to belive me. Despite your belief, you do have free will. We all do.
