I have lived in kano, Niger state, bauchi, jos, yola I can tell you the north is the poverty capital of the world..."gaskiya na gia maka" houses are built with naked bricks and fenced with roofing sheets just a few good houses built by the elites who are in govt one way or the other (lived in all those places not visited)

All that is theory, you thrive in SW because you can buy land and hence can invest, call it home etc, where in the SE will sell land to outsiders, when land for locals sef na problem? ibos go averywhere in Nigeria and are accommodated as Nigerians, other Nigerians go to Ibo land and thats when you start to hear story about ancestral land, tradition etc.

This thing is not hard, if you were that accommodative, there will be more outsiders in your region and making it home.

People migrate when they cannot get what they want or flourish in their own home, zone or countries, nobody leaves the security of his own zone if everything he needs is there especially to an unaccommodating area.. Do those ibos who leave ibo land leave because they cant compete in ibo land? Why do ibos leave ibo land in droves if it were that attractive? There is nothing in ibo land attractive to a yoruba man except their women.....and there are enough of them in the SW.
the Chinese that left Asia to come here and invest do you think Nigeria is richer and more secure than China in their opinion they feel they have more knowledge than the locals in business that's the reason they are here and that's also the reason you see us in the north, west and also west Africa ,south africa then east Africa

clap for yourself! I hope you know if Nigeria ever scatters you will all be sent packing, so continue developing. Like a yoruba king once said, "whatever land they want let them have, they cant take the land away" . Plus all Nigerian land purchased after 1974 is leased land. For instance you can develop Lekki all you want, all the land there is leased.

Goziesolar, You dont "own" the land, you have a long term rental agreement called a lease.
if we leave the houses and go its value diminishes how many Hausa's and other tribes rent expensive houses in Lagos just a few do the maths we live we go with most of the purchasing power

yes I agree with you the southeast is not big enough for our dreams...but we came and saw and conquered..Go to festac and ago road where an empty plot sells for 30m and 40m and find out the majority of land owners there

Thats because ibos dont allow foreigners to thrive in their land, the way other allow them in their lands. There is no cosmopolitan town or city in ibo land.

SW develops because we welcome other peoples, if you shut your doors to others dont complain that you have to develop your area yourselves or boast that you did it yourself because that is a choice you made.
lies since its mostly trade that is the economic activity of the southeast you the Yoruba's know that its futile traveling down east cause you can't compete

Osu boy, why should Yorubas travel to your landlocked homeland that your people are trooping out of in their millions everyday month? Who in their right mind will leave Yorubaland to go hustle in Igboland? Yorubas don't travel, but the largest Nigerian immigrants in Ivory Coast and Togo are Ejigbo people. Ogbomosho people have hundreds of thousands of their people in Ghana, Kano, Jos, Niger etc. Ignorant Osu slowpoke!
all those places you mentioned Igbo's are still in the majority , you asked why Yoruba's will travel down east your answer is competition..... You can't compete with the Igbo on any level playing ground that's the reason, you dominate only where there is an advantage that's a simple fact.we leave our comfort zone come to your comfort zone and still dominate. There are a lot of Igbo millionaires who don't have any business to do with Lagos have stayed all their lives down east you think we are all in Lagos my friend try and travel and see things for yourself...let me tell you if Igbo's should leave Lagos the economy off Lagos would shrink drastically what's keeping us here are our businesses which is linked to apapa if an alternative port is created down east the Yoruba's would regret it. Real estate is what it is in Lagos because of the Igbo's you so much despise

Indonesia city even more urbanized than New York?
It is not most urbanized but built up.
Onitsha is a tiny city established by the Binis that is not expanding as it should. It is a very old city which had failed to grow and gain more land like Ibadan.
Onitsha is only 52 square km while Ibadan is 3,080 square km.Onitsha is just about 5 GRAs in Ibadan. We have seen this demographia thing before sha.
wrong bro, Onitsha has expanded to encapsule the towns of nkwelle-ezunaka,ogidi, npkor, ogbunike, nsugbe, obosi, ogbaru, oba and umuoji and umudioka all afromentioned towns are larger than onitsha itself, which if all combined is far more larger than you stated, don't blame you cause your kind hardly travel from your tribal abode..you can't just sit wherever you are and assume Onitsha has not expanded try and travel bro. Ibadan is large I won't dispute that but Onitsha is more urbanised, residential houses at Onitsha are mostly buildings with 4 ore 5 floors.

Stop giving support to incompetency. This same incidents even happens in towns and not villages sef. If you know there is no security in the area why open a branch there in the first place. What of the one that happen on Boxing day in Abuja. They need to up their security and stop playing with customers life.
the abuja robbery you mentioned was at the outskirts of abuja

Why are they always robbing First Bank only. This is the 6th bank robbery on First Bank this year alone and I keep wandering if the bank is doing something wrong when it comes to security. Even before opening the thread I have already concluded that it must be a First Bank branch. The management should look into all this.
because first bank brings banking to your doorstep,be smart and reason smartly have you not noticed that first bank have branches in remote places where most new generation banks are scared to go.such remote banks are easy targets for robbers, most banks have branches only in cities and they tend to cluster together for security reasons......kudos should be given to first bank for taking banking to rural communities

Business / Re: Alaba International Market, Correcting The Populace Mind And Setting The Record by Goziesolar: 1:02pm On Sep 03, 2020
First pic not Alaba int.. The truth about Alaba is that the culture of ripping of customers has been institutionalized by a small group of people, I trade there also... This fraud comes in two dimensions (1) some hustlers convince and lure you to a shop, sell an inferior item at an exorbitant price to you then later share the proceeds at a percentage with shop owner....(it should be noted that not all shops agree to this arrangement so those boys avoid those kind of shops.(2) secondly the criminal minded ones pull off such stunts like what the other o.p complained about which is criminal.........but those that fall into the second category are not up to 1% of the market population and hide their act from the market authorities if caught they are reprimanded and a fine levied on them by the market union and also a refund to the customer.. It should be noted that the hustlers who woo you to a particular collaborating shop are mixed tribes (Igbo,Bini,Yoruba etc) once they sense your tribe they now front your tribesman as front man for their job of deceit, reason is that in such situations one tends to trust his tribes person....
Bringing the tribal blame here is wrong the act is a collaborative one by every body irrespective of tribe.off course blaming the Igbo trader is natural cause they are in the majority at the market, but go down to trade fair or balogun market where Igbo's are also majority such crimes don't occur there, trust me it's not a tribal thing
