Spirit cheesy shey that one na flight. I flew with them from Houston to Colorado, they did not give us ordinary tap water for like 2 hours flight. I love America airline, quite cheap (good leg space if you book early for the front roll )and southwest airline do not really travel to all states.

Tnx to all that have given info concerning buying PTA. My situation now is that neither me nor hubby has acct. with Diamond bank and the ones we use (1st bank & GTB) said they have stopped. Pls I need to know if there are banks that sell to people that do not bank with them but with travel documents. Help a sister pls.

I dont think any bank will sell to non-account holders. However, confirm what they mean by they have stopped. it could be that they were only out of dollar when you went there. The banks have a quota of how much they want sell per day. The officer you met might not have communicated the information correctly.

you or hubby needs to have account with the bank before you can purchase PTA. so if you do, just walk into any branch of the bank and tell them you want to buy PTA.they will tell you the rate for the day and process it. You have maximum of 4000USD per quarter. They will also tell you the document required.

I hope this helps.

@ Bauuh, your stories are kinda disjointed.
1. you were asking for cheap hospitals in NJ because you had a budget of 5kUSD.
2. you were asking if you could bring your baby home with naija passport after collecting BC and apply for passport in your home country
3. Next, you say your wife had baby in NY with insurance, you are not aware and you went ahead to lie to the VO that you sponsored with 10th USD.
4. Then, you are suddenly not in good terms with your wife and your father in law forced you to let her go. And to cap it all, you are already talking about disclaimer, separation..........Not too good.

Now my questions...
1. who bought her flight ticket? you or your father in law?
2. when she was going, did you give her the 5k USD you had earlier budgeted?
3. why did you tell VO that you sponsored with 10k? I have a feeling he had seen it on the system that your wife used insurance. just couldn't deny you because you claim yo want to go see your baby. They respect family ties a lot.
4. The 10k USD you claimed, do you have it? if yes why not send it to your wife to make the payment and if your father in law that insisted that his daughter to have baby in US can help out with the balance, all well and good and if not set up payment plan to suit your income(have heard people on the forum say its possible) after all the Americana baby will bear your name. yeah it might be difficult cos you still need to keep the family running but I bet you, chicken in out of this by denying your wife and baby is not the solution.

my 2 cents ooh.........abeg apologies for long post,

But if I choose a different location for hospital, how do I go about her housing arrangement without a plan for accommodation expenses bearing in mind she is to stay with my brother in California? Hope you understand my question?

I think you should just weigh your options. If the cost of hospital in california will be almost same with cost of hospital plus accommodation in the less affordable states, I think you can just go ahead and use california for interview. But if the.cost of hospital plus accommodation in the affordable states is still lower than cost in california excluding accommodation, I also think you should use the other states.

Just my line of thots sha.

Hey people,

Had my baby boy Thursday night at Methodist Houston Sugar Land, Thursday evening, discharged Saturday morning, Mummy, LO and Daddy are doing great! Overall experience was fantastic, nurses tripping over themselves to help you, etc, etc.

Also Dr. Duc Le was great too.

Shout out to everyone that contributed to this thread, extremely tired out from baby duty so I wont call names for fear of offending anyone smiley

LOL at freebies, Freebies were not fantastic here o, just formula (which I don't want to use)

Will give feedback when I get my final bill (if any sef because I had pre paid for everything, and had no complications).

To everyone that is bored in America, put up your feet even more, cuz once the baby comes, end of honeymoon period...

Congratulations on the birth of your little prince.

Hello house, please for those that ever had their doctor's letters checked at POE. How much correspondence are you expected to have with your doctor. I've made an enquiry, got a response with the cost attachment. No dates or commitment. Just wondering if this would do or we need to do more. Thanks

I have same issue too. Called doctor's office and they faxed the cost package to me. They claim not to be allowed to send
mails until they see me in person for appointment . I have been wondering if this is okay to present at POE. The hospital too is same story only that I have someone I mail directly and she stated in the mail that every arrangement will start when I come.

I hope this will suffice for POE. Someone should help us out please.

For accountholders_ Access Bank, Keystone Bank. FirstBank will do PTA for you but wont give cash, it will be loaded on a card in which you can withdraw abroad this may not suffice for POE solution but is cheaper compared to withdrawing from Nigerian debit card. Also there are some banks that can still sell dollars for you by bidding through their BDC and avail you dollars- Enterprise Bank.

Skye Bank also sell to account holders, you can even get it in cash.

My husband flew Qatar to Dallas when I had my baby, the experience was not pleasant. 21 , hours layover, they refuse to grant Nigerians visa to go into town and start in a hotel. They were left in the departure lounge with miserable food court vouchers. However, he mentioned that a family with infant were given access to business class lounge so they may do same for pregnant women but it's better to consider another

Thanks for the info..will continue my search for affordable flight ticket.....

Thank you for your email.

Your B-class visa does not entitle you to entrance to the United States—it simply entitles you to arrive at a port-of-entry to the United States and apply for admission to an officer of the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) unit on duty there. The Customs and Border Protection, a branch of USCIS, determines a traveler’s eligibility of entry to the U.S, you should be prepared to demonstrate to the immigration officer at the port of entry why you are seeking medical treatment and that you have logistical and financial plans for the treatment.

We recommend that you review the regulations on non-immigrant aliens entering the United States for purposes of childbirth at http://redirect.state.sbu/?url=https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/882/~/visit-the-u.s.-while-pregnant-and-the-risks-involved and plan accordingly. Please you should not stay in the U.S. longer than you are permitted by Customs and Border Protection at the port of entry. The Department of Homeland Security at the port of entry will determine your eligibility to enter the United States on any travel.

If you choose to give birth in the U.S., we advise you to bring evidence of payment, both when you enter the U.S. on this visit, and at your future U.S. visa interviews.

Abuja's

Dear Madam,

Thank you for your inquiry. Before you travel to the United States to have a child you should make the appropriate preparations, including an appointment with a healthcare provider, detailed information about where you will receive your medical services, and an estimate of the financial costs. Immigration officials may ask for this information upon your arrival. Healthcare in the United States is expensive. Costs associated with child birth are high and can escalate quickly if there are complications. You are expected to pay all costs associated with the medical services received. Retain an itemized statement of account from your healthcare provider that outlines all of the charges from your care and receipt of your payment.

We hope this information is helpful to you. Congratulations to you and your family.

Best Regards,

Consular Section

This email is UNCLASSIFIED.

I will print that of Abuja and use at the point of entry.

I will be going on Southwest Airline. Bought return leg for $511. Entitle to check in two bags of 50pds each (about 23kg) but I have one. A friend told me they are one of the cheapest but I purchased the ticket on Sunday afternoon b4 leaving lagos after United didn't confirm the one I paid for two weeks ago. Sure it will be cheaper if you buy it on time. Please use their website o.

Please if one is travelling with their local airlines in the US, will they require one to present any fit to fly certificate? Am thinking of going to New York too and take a local airline to denver from there but then hubby asked about the fit to fly thing which I am not sure of.

Hi all, eventually sent my letter of intent yesterday and didn't get any response all through the day (was scared though- don't know if it takes a whole day to respond everyone). However, they responded this morning with that default message. I'm glad.

is now to go serious with the planning o. although I think am solo here as am heading for denver, colorado as that is where we have family and hubby is more comfortable staying with them plus to save accommodation and some other miscellaneous cost sha.

Thanks to everyone that helped out with the letter of intent.

@Babatwi...

what if one has not discovered the pregnancy then? got my visa in October for the purpose of vacation in December. although hubby and I have always been nursing the idea of having our baby in the USA. We didn't even have a serious questioning at the VO's because we had one 3 months J-visa that was given to us based on a training hubby went for in 2013 and I only spent 2 weeks in the states. During the questioning, I think the VO noticed number of years of marriage with no kids and asked if I was going to seek medical assistance which I answered no. We were given the visa

Discovered shortly after that i am preggy and a couple of weeks gone (meanwhile we have been trying for a child for 3 years now). After I discovered I mentioned to a friend who said I can send them a mail to inform them.

But am kinda confused now since you mentioned that is for pple that were not really preggy as at day of interview.

Would appreciate if you can shed more light as I will not want to do something that will thwart future renewal opportunities although we already cancelled our December vacation so we could go for childbirth. Your response will be appreciated.

Kairi,

The letter of intent was sent to the embassy because we got our visas for vacation purpose, in fact i wasn't pregnant at the time even though the VO asked me.
If you appeared at the embassy, and you declared that one of your reasons for seeking the visa was for childbirth, I don't think it is necessary for you to write any letter of intent.
