I don't know about this, I haven't tried it before.
XploraBen:

I first used my PVC for verification when I opened my account in 2022. I was asked to verify my account again this year and I used my NIN, which they accepted.

If you have a PVC, try and use it.
Okay, thanks.

@XploraBen, what about Chipper? Is it reliable to add its virtual card to Upwork for buying connects? I'm skeptical about putting funds in it.

XploraBen:

Open a Geegpay account and create a virtual card.
Fund the card and use it to pay for not only Upwork connects but almost anything online.
It's what I'm using and their service is swift and reliable.
Thank you. I've been trying to verify my ID on Geegpay since, but they didn't accept NIN as a valid ID. I don't understand. They said international passport is the most preferable form of ID, but my passport has expired.

Upwork isn't accepting Nigerian banks' ATM cards as a payment/billing method for buying connects. Any recommendations on other payment methods one can use, please?

Good afternoon, guys. Please I'd love to know the ideal price in naira for a ghost writing gig. And isn't #1.5 too small for 250K words?
When you charge #1.5 per word for a job, how would you deliver quality submissions? This rate should even be an insult to any writer that knows their onions.

4 naira per word should be the minimum unless your submissions are poor.

This job is closed as it's no longer available.

And anyone tagging it fraudster should give evidence of being defrauded.

No body ever defrauded anyone. So be careful of what you call fraudster.
See this scammer. The job is closed after you failed to pay for the project submitted to you over a month ago.

I submitted a translated document of about 4000 words to you weeks ago, and you promised to pay $150 for it.

I waited patiently for you to pay up, but you kept giving me different excuses even after you said the job had been approved since last month.

Who knows the number of members of this forum this fraudster would have scammed in this manner?

Cletus Cholu, the OP (Clet3) that posted this vacancy, is a fraudster.

After I applied for the job he posted, he messaged me instructions on how to do the assessment for the post.

The assessment has to do with translating a complete story book of about 50 pages from English to Yoruba. And he expected this to be done for free within three days.

Because of the harsh terms of the assessment, I didn't take the job seriously.

I don't know which reasonable person expects any professional to translate a whole book for him for free as an assessment when I've sent samples of my past translation projects to him.

This mischievous kept on disturbing me with calls to send the job, and he later said the so-called company would pay me £500 for the translation.

So, I did chapter one of the translation and submitted it to him and requested for a payment of that translated chapter to test if he was a sincere and trustworthy person.

Days later, he said the work had been approved.

A month after the submission, he refused to send the payment for the submission he got and later blocked me on WhatsApp.

Nairalanders, beware of having any dealings with Cletus Cholu with the phone number +2347039155215 and email address cholucletus@yahoo.com

I've filed a report to Amazon and other online platforms this scammer operates on.

Geovanni412:

The bolded is the crux of the matter

The solution is simple,

Stop worrying about the past and how time has moved

It is annoying because you wonder. "did I make a mistake going for a masters degree or even a degree with all the effort I could?" , "of what use is my first class or 2:1 in law or psychology if people are asking me to listen to their complex problems for 5,000 naira?

And the most painful part is when you study a five or seven year course like law or medicine then immediately jumped into a masters degree. Now, you have all the papers but your mates who did a four year course and started working earlier are way better off financially than you.

Again, solution is to stop worrying and do what you can with the cards you are dealt with. Never forget that many of your peers are locked up in prison or in worse financial situations than you are.

Just think of your predicament as one who just escaped mental prison, time to start again. Pick up and learn a side hustle -join relevant free telegram groups like webcharmers and search groups like hacksnation to get the courses you need and start work from there.

As you struggle with your day job that pays minimal but sorts out the bills, just give the side hustle 30mins-1hr a day and plan for 6-9 months consistently working on it

Find an additional job, preferably, one that helps you interface with Nigerians abroad, example is academic writing for Nigerian students. These students don't have time because they need to combine caregiver work with school and sort out their papers. You can bill them with the dollar equivalent for each job, minimum of $50- $100.

DO this in combination with trying to improve your other online skills say copywriting or web designing. Just pick one skill and take courses on client acquisition.
Please, do you know Telegram groups or WhatsApp groups for writing and research/academic writing or teaching jobs?

Beware of this scammer. Anyone offering 15,000 naira for a 3000-word essay at master's level is a fraudster. The work is even highly technical. He's looking for people to defraud.

The work is 3000 words. He's lying it's 2000 words. Keep this up, and your details will soon be added to that black list (thread) of well-known fraudsters on Nairaland.
