Health / The Scandal And Corruption At Federal Medical Center In Bida by hamzeiy: 9:11am On Jul 12, 2016
n the 5th of June 2016, I published an article
regarding the decay in the federal medical centre
here in Bida, Niger. In this article, I explained why
the management should be brought to book for the
careless loss of human lives there. I am sure most of you
must have it.

After the publication went viral, the management tried all it
could to downplay the issue as expected. They have also
been lots of speculations flying around trying to dispute the
facts. Supporters to the MD in the likes of Dr. M.M
amongst other shameless sycophants arose
The Management quickly set up a committee of doctors and
other staff alike to help probe into which staff leaked such
an information…
They are bent on smoking me out because I washed their
dirty linen in public. Meetings after meetings! It is like
finding a grain in a sand pile! Different heads of
departments were called and interviewed thoroughly. They
are still playing silly suspicions on the wrong set of staff
(Doctors and Nurses alike).
I am everywhere in FMCB, what is then the use? What if I
am within the management itself? Ridiculously Stupid!
It is funny how they are bent on finding me out rather than
solving the actual problem.
For the first few days, they were focused only on trying to
find the culprit. The MD, Dr. Aminu Usman had no choice
but to come back from his ‘unapproved’ sabbatical
vacation. Hell had been let loose.
How they finally obtained ‘limited’ diesel remains the
biggest mystery. The management thus gave the order to
turn on the generator for two hours every day now. The
time slot is from 10 pm -12 am .
What this meant was: should a patient require an
emergency surgery, he/she would have to wait till they put
on the generator. Smart right? All medical investigations
and tests are kept on pause till that golden time:
10pm-12am only…. What a joke!
I still doubt if the MD, Dr. Usman Aminu has ears. Is his
counsel really from the Emir of Bida? A big question
Should I say water supply has improved? It is only pumped
during the golden hour…. It most times gets finished before
noon of the next day. Who is fooling who?
Well, No deaths have occurred since the article…. A big
surprise I must say! Oxygen is back in the circulation pipes
(doesn’t last long but it is ok!)…Our torchlights to help
conduct deliveries are still in our bags and purses… they are
still useful just in case.
The people of Bida are so naïve. I have worked and lived
with them for years now, and I know this as a fact. It pains
me. All they do is shout behind closed doors.
Before I published that article on July 5th, 2016… I
interacted with lots of colleagues, patients, and other staff…
The responses were all the same: the MD is Incompetent
and has failed and should not go scot-free from the hands
of justice.
It is my deepest wish that, Dr. Usman Aminu be
interrogated and tried. This is why:
We most times certify dead patients under the hoax that is
‘was a medical condition’ when truly it was clearly an
avoidable managerial fault. Should we as doctors go on like
this? Didn’t we swear, to be honest? How do we get better
this way? Should we as healthcare professionals continue
like this? What if it was someone you knew? What if it was
your own father, child, mother, sister, brother, son or
daughter? What if?
Let us call a spade a spade!
The MD should retire in handcuffs.
Any staff of this institution that refutes these facts laid
above or in the previous article does himself/herself and
generations a great disservice.
And it gets interesting….
Ending of Last week, the management got a call form ‘Ogas
at the top’ asking questions.
But let me ask: what do you expect to hear when you ask a
thief if he stole or if you ask a murderer if he just killed
someone? If the government is serious in investigating this,
they should do so discretely and should not inform the
management of their arrival.
They should be Romans as they are coming to Rome. Then
you’d see for yourself. This is my candid opinion.
So today, July 11, 2016, the management of the federal
medical centre Bida, organized a staged a media coverage.
The night before this staged media tour, missing diesel
magically re-appeared, hospital gate repainted, oxygen
flowing in pipes, water running and staff briefed
( threatened) not to go against the script.
The media coverage today saw that no faults were detected.
The entourage headed by the MD, Dr. Aminu Usman
paraded media around shamefully.
I desperately wanted to go off script as I trailed along from
a distance.
They walked into the Accident and Emergency asking
predetermined questions as usual to the matrons. My God!
I have never seen matrons in such sparkling smile. The ER
was packed with machines and instrument. It was looking
so functional with the cameramen trailing behind. Other
stops were in the Pediatric Emergency Room, the Labor
Ward, etc. As expected, doctors were not interviewed just
matrons were asked scripted questions. They had to stick
to the script for fear of the unknown.
How long do we keep deceiving ourselves? Let us call a
spade a spade. Health shouldn’t be joked with. As I pen this
down, Things are still being they way they are… Some
temporary improvements as regards water especially…
What about blood? What about steady light? What about
steady water? What about equipping the pharmacy store?
What about improving facilities to aid quick and prompt
treatment?
The federal government has since given money to this
Centre for the establishment of an Intensive Care Unit [ICU],
which is still lacking. The truth is, any critically ill patient
brought to this Centre, dies just like that!
FMCB still runs on what is tagged “one point agenda”. What
this means that a small generator is used to light one bulb
in all wards. It lights just bulbs with no wall sockets. More
like candle in the dark.
The next MD should take note that it wouldn’t be business
as usual. FMCB isn’t your private fund source or ATM. You
swore to protect life, do it and not the other way round.
I will keep talking till things change. I am passionate about
quality health care in Nigeria.
Thank you!

FMCB Staff

Why are some of us africans stupid and believe clearly dumb conspiracy theories. To me it takes a different level of stupidity to think that moon landings never happened and that the earth is flat and that nasa is feeding us lies.

I do not see how someone would think that a government would spend millions building a rocket just to deceive the general population. It doesn't make sense, for crying out loud there is a mountain of evidence that moon landings occoured, there are videos of astronauts on the moon, samples of rocks from the moon, videos of the saturn V rocket blasting off to space plus lots more evidence that man actually reached the moon. Technogies developed by NASA are even in mainstream use today e.g infrared thermometers and we have someone saying NASA is a scam. Its just absurd bordering on stupidity

I don't even want to start on the flat earth theory because anyone that has a BASIC secondary school education should know that the earth is spherical and not flat and i am not ready to be anyone's geography tutor.

How did the fiancé know the girl is dead and told the ex, before the ex then said that she is dead ?

Why would the ex, kill a former lover he was trying to get back with ?

Naturally, a fiancé must be jealous if someone calls his fiancee and if the fiancee mentions that it is the ex trying to reconcile. So, does it mean that this fiancé let it sleep and didn't pick a quarrel with the late fiancee ?

Ex boyfriend had no motive, but the fiancé has a motive. That is my submission, but I could be wrong.

Politics / Dangote A True Nigerian by hamzeiy: 11:11am On Jul 03, 2016
Dangote a northerner yet making one of his greatest investment in southwest nigeria.
offcourse what does one expect from a civilised community that lacks militancy , our oyel and our land idealogies. here are some facts about dangote refinery

Facts About Dangote’s Refinery and Petrochemical Plant.
1. Over $4 billion worth of equipment currently sits on the
site.
2. The project is slated to cost $14 billion (N2.8 trillion) of
which Dangote is contributing $7 billion in equity.
3. The project site is larger than Victoria Island. It is located
on 2135 hectares of land in Epe, Lagos near the Lekki Free
Zone
4. It is the largest industrial complex in Africa
5. Work goes on, on the site, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
6. World Record 2.72 million accident free hours recorded
on site, without a single lost time to injuries
7. It is the largest single train grass roots refinery in the
world with a processing capacity of 650,000 BPSD
8. Dangote Group brought in the world’s #1, #2, and #5
sand dredgers to sand fill the site. 60% of the land being
swampy. So far these dredgers have reclaimed 13 million
m³ out of 30 million m³
9. During construction, the project will employ over 25,000
Nigerians
10. Dangote is investing over $7 billion (N1.4 trillion) in the
project
11. It is the largest single train refinery project on the planet
12. When this project comes online, Nigeria will save a
minimum of $10 billion a year on imports
13. The Ammonia component of the plant will produce 2.8
million tonnes of Urea
14. Dangote is producing its own electricity to power the
plant and by so doing is saving 75% costs. Dangote
produces electricity at a rate that is significantly cheaper
than the Federal Government. Dangote’s cost is $400,000/
MW, while Federal Government is $2,000,000/MW
15. All the civil engineering is done by Nigerian companies
16. The plant has an export value of $6 billion per annum,
meaning Dangote’s efforts will increase the amount of
foreign exchange in Nigeria’s foreign reserves by at least
40% of current value on a yearly basis
17. Dangote said when this project comes on line, his friend
Femi Otedola will save at least N26 per litre on millions of
litres of diesel and petrol which his companies import
annually. This savings will be passed on to the consumers
and it will take a lot of pressure off the banks
18. Billions of Naira were paid to acquire the land and to
settle the existing communities. More money was also
allocated and spent to relocate the existing communities
19. This project will restore the dignity of Nigeria, a crude
producing country that has for years gone abroad to meet
its demand for refined products
20. Refined products to be produced at the plant include but
is not limited to propane, Petrol, Jet Fuel, Diesel, Kerosene,
Carbon Black, Polypropylene, Polyethylene
21. The United States Trade and Development Agency is
supporting this project with $997 million
Very massive project to stand in the Ibeju-Lekki axis come
2019.

Kissing and caressing in the day during ramadan, my broda, I think it is way way to far and should be avoided
my brother your quote has no relation to the topic. it is only telling us some conditions that makes ghusl mandatory noting about a fasting person. anyway as the man or the op you quotted has rightly said, kissing does not vitiate the fasting as the prophet did it but as long as you know you wont fall to sex or ejaculation. The brother you quoted has given excelleng examples on how to avoid such urges to kiss in the first place during the day time of ramadhan. once again kissing in it self (not deep tongue to tongue though as dt can make you swallow your wife,s saliva and may need another ruling that am not qualified to give).
DOES NOT VITIATE THE FAST AS AUTHENTICALLY REPORTED

what of someone who brush his teeth like 3 times during the day @seyexdkoko
.
yes.that is why we sre even encouraged to use the siwak (chewing stick) as it is even a strong sunnah. thus brushing your teeth dosnt vitiate the fast in it self but you must ensure you dont swallow the residue or mint..ensure you rainse your mouth properlly nd you dont swallow the mint because if you do that intentionally youve broken your fasting .NB
the smell that comes from the mouth of a fasting person is better than the scent of al misck (a plant with nyc fragrance) in the sight of Allah (jallu jalala)

Salam alaikum OP, well in my own opinion, i wont say the fast is broken because it is your wife and not a random girl you kissed. Your intention for doing so is also a thing to consider so if you did it out of lust then you know the answer already.

in your own opinion? really?
its not about hour opinion but what the quran or hadith states about the issue. as it has been xplained earlier it is not haram only if you know you might fall to sex or ejaculates as stated above. finally their is no lust in kissing your wife. shez your wife you cant lust over her nd even at that your fasting is not vitiated unless the conditions stated happens.
so in the sunnah,s opinion your fasting is nt vitiated even if its done with lust as you said unless your fall into having sex with her or ejaculates as a result of your actions.
lets seek fr knowledge on issues b4 we speak on them otherwise we remain silent.
Allah know,s best. May Allah forgive you, me and us all in this ramadhan...ameen

Stfu !!!!

Is it today that Muslim students start wearing hijab to school ? This is a practice that has been happening for God knows when even among their teachers and people of other profession and I wonder why you now think it is Aregbesola's doing.

The Christian leaders are the ones making themselves the willing tools in the hands of the enemies of that state. I attended an Anglican primary school managed by the government but on every Friday we always have our morning prayers in the Islamic ways without anybody killing each other.

We even have imam in school then teaching IRK.

The practice was the same when I later transferred to an Ansar-ud-deen school where we have our morning prayers in the Christian ways from monday -Tuesday , on Wednesday you pray silently and call whatever God you which while Thursday - Fridays are for Islamic prayers.

That's why during our days all the students are able to know most the popular songs in the S.O.P and still recite fati'a and other Islamic verses.

This latest move and agitation is strange to us in Yorubaland . Every normal Yoruba family have people of the two religion and they co-exist without any fighting among them.

( And FYI, even my own patents are practicing different religions and they live together in peace).

at last someone with brains on nairaland.

Sometimes i wonder why the federal government which has a big imprint of the north is afraid of true federalism, what are they scared of, because the last time i checked nigerians (south) have screamed , yelled and even protested for it. We all know and even the government knows that true federalism will stop the myriad of problems facing nigeria, there will be less agitation and massive development .

With true federalism, i believe the north can be far greater and more richer than it is today.
But will the northern oligarchs allow it?
Can mere protest move the government to consider true federalism?
The answer is, capital NO for both questions.

I don't support NDA destructive tendencies but a part of me is happy because i see the nigerian government forced to consider true federalism with a 50/50 sharing fomular. And to add to true federalism, all political prisoners must be released eg: kanu in order to quell agitations and unwanted protest.

In true FACT, NDA is the intelligent group here, far intelligent than the federal government of Nigeria because their demands is the medicine to Nigeria's sickness.

Answer: In the name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Most
Merciful,
1) The position of all four Sunni schools of Islamic law is that
it is unlawful (haram) to touch any part of a textual copy of the
Qur’an (mushaf) without being in a state of minor ritual purity
(wudu), as a way of honouring the book of Allah. The majority
of the Imams of Qur’anic exegesis (mufassirun) state that the
verses: “It is surely the Noble Qur’an, (recorded already) in a
protected book (i.e. the Preserved Tablet) that is not touched
except by the purified ones (the angels). A revelation from the
Lord of the worlds” (Qur’an: 56/77-80) refers also to physically
touching the Qur’an. Moreover, Imam Malik (Allah have mercy
on him) relates in his Al-Muwatta that the Messenger of Allah
(Allah bless him & give him peace) wrote a letter to Amr ibn
Hazm (Allah be pleased with him), in which he said, “None
should touch the Qur’an except one who is in a state of
purity.” (Al-Muwatta no: 534)
Apart from the Mushaf, if a complete verse of the Qur’an is
written or inscribed on something else such as a wall, piece of
paper, slate or coin [m: and by extension, if the Qur’an is stored
electronically in a digital format on an iPhone, PC or some
other device, since it can not be classed a Mushaf], there are
two opinions of classical Hanafi jurists (fuqaha) regarding its
ruling:
Some jurists are of the view that in addition to the Mushaf
itself, it is not permitted to touch an item on which a complete
verse of the Qur’an is inscribed. It is stated in Maraqi al-Falah:
“Likewise Wudu is mandatory in order to touch a Mushaf, and
even [to touch] a verse inscribed on a coin or wall due to the
statement of Allah Most High, “it is not touched except by the
purified ones” whether [to touch] the inscribed part or the
blank space. Some of our [Hanafi] scholars, however, stated
that what is prohibitively disliked for the ritually impure is to
touch the actual area where the text is written and not the blank
space because one is not touching the Qur’an literally. The
correct position is that touching the blank space is akin to
touching the text itself [in that both are not permitted].” (See:
(Maraqi al-Falah with the commentary of Tahtawi P: 82)
Acknowledging that some Hanafi jurists limit the prohibition
of touching to the actual area where the Qur’anic text is
inscribed, Imam Shurunbulali in the above passage explains
that the correct position is that if a verse is written on anything
besides the Mushaf, on a slate for example, then not only is it
prohibited to touch that part of the slate where the verse is
inscribed but the whole slate itself. Based on this, if the Qur’an
application is activated and the verses appear on the screen of
an iPhone, PC or other electronic devices, it is not permitted to
touch the device without Wudu.
The second opinion within the Hanafi School is that if
Qur’anic verses are inscribed on something other than a
Mushaf, then it is only impermissible to touch that part of the
item where the verses are inscribed and not the whole item.
Imam Ibn Abidin (Allah have mercy on him), quoting Halabi
and Al-Bahr al-Ra’iq, states:
“… It is not unlawful in other than a Mushaf [to touch] except
the area where the verses are inscribed.” (Radd al-Muhtar ala ‘l-
Durr al-Mukhtar 1/173)
This position, chosen by Imams Ibn Abidin, Ibn Nujaym and
others, can be acted upon given the need and widespread usage
of digital forms of the Qur’an. It is, however, superior and
closer to propriety when possible to take precaution and act
upon the first position. Based on this, once the verses of the
Qur’an appear on the screen, it will not be permitted to touch
the area where the actual text appears without Wudu. Touching
other parts of the iPhone or device, however, will be permitted.
Note that if the Qur’an application is not activated and hence
the verses do not appear on the screen, then it is totally
permitted to touch the device including the screen without
Wudu.
jazakhaLahu khairan but with a little correction.
it has been discussed by scholars that the preserved tablet in the ayah you mentioned above refer to the book with Allah at "lauhul mahfuz" and not the mushaf as we know it. it has been established that a muslim is never impure as narated in the hadith where a companion of the rasool s.a.w (abu huraira if i rmber correctly) stood up while he was siting beside s.a.w upon his return he was asked why he left..and he told the rasool he was in a state of janaba and wasnt comfortable siting with him in that state...
and he was informed that a muslim is never impure.
so my point is as long as youre nt in a state of major impurity and youre clean offcourse.you dont have to perform abulution to touch the mushaf though its encouraged but its not wajib or a fard.
Allah knows best
